Logs
The last time that [jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) and I had visited Moreton Island was about 11-12 years ago, and we were both discussing whether we had visited Cape Moreton Lighthouse at the time. Since my memory of such iconic features is usually pretty good, I suspect that it was my first time here, and perhaps the inclement weather will embed my visit this time irrespective. We initially checked out the information shed that performed a strategic stop for us to get out of the rain, and then we took a circuit around the lighthouse. There was a large python snake that was fairly close to the track, and then we enjoyed good views of the ocean and lighthouse. I was about to leave the track and head to the posted coordinates, and something in me had me decide to glance at the last replacement cache log and it was then that I noted the updated coordinates: S 27 01.930' E 153 27.889'. It didn't look as treacherous, and reasonably close to a track that connected the car park to the information house. The cache took a while to find, and I darted between a few trees in the vicinity. There was one tree that seemed to stick out at GZ, but there wasn't anything around its base, which caused me to continue to search. I had one major blunder when I jumped down to the track's cleared area, only to realise mid-flight that I wasn't jumping onto sand, but rather a large volume of collected water (I truly had wet shoes and shorts for the day's remainder). Reading the last couple of logs again and noting an additional hint, I took another search approach, and then found the container well-buried since the last find 3+ years ago at its updated accurate coordinates. The cache container was in good shape, but there was no logbook in the container though, just dirt. I suspect the container's seal has gone, and it has eroded/dissipated away. Thanks kholometers for the cache placement (and Clinton1020 for their replacement cache add).----------This trip, [jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T), baby Cottontail and I had a Moreton Island extended weekend staying at Tangalooma Resort. We took a northern island circuit on Friday visiting Cape Moreton Lighthouse, and then on Saturday was a driving expedition to the south visiting Mount Tempest, Kooringal, Rous Battery, and the Desert. On our final day on Sunday, we relaxed and enjoyed a couple of swims that included a stop at Tangalooma Wrecks. A family weekend adventure that we made the most of with the weather that we were dealt!Today, after taking the Micat vehicle ferry from Port of Brisbane to Moreton Island, we headed north for an island circuit via Cowan Cowan, Bulwer, and Cape Moreton Lighthouse. Overnight, Brisbane suffered an absolute rain drenching; unfortunately, this rain extended throughout most of the day. Subsequently, we spent more time in the Prado than planned outside activities such as swimming and hikes. Our first formal stop was the Five Hills Lookout, and despite inclement weather, scenic views of the vicinity were admired. We continued around to Cape Moreton Lighthouse for another walk, and then continued to Middle Road and checked in to Tangalooma Resort.

A group of us have been planning an assault on Moreton for quite some time now. But with one thing and another, followed by Covid, it just wasn’t happening. And then finally, we had a date set hard and fast!
And today, the group of merry travellers boarded the barge and set off. Fangsoki, Pprime and Mr Herbz were the 4WDing chauffeurs for the weekend, while Crew153, Just A Trifle, and I were the cheerful passengers (to later be joined by Radnoski).
Now all the others had been to Moreton previously, so this was extra special for Crew153 and I, as it was our maiden Moreton voyage.
Having dealt with the first rain shower while up a sand dune, we then made our way to camp to set up the tents, where we fought some rather strong winds in the process, before heading off for this one. Parking the car, we headed to the alternate coordinates, where the cache was quickly located. The log sheet was very manky but we managed to make our scrawl.
Thanks for the cache kholometers.

After setting up camp at North Point camping area the group headed up to the lighthouse to check out the view. We had a number of cachers with us who had found this cache previously but it was 1MinnieMoo who uncovered it this time. After almost 5 years since it was last uncovered.
We then headed up the hill to be hit by strong wind and driving rain. We did the circuit quickly and headed back to the cars.

Relogging this under individual account, previously a member of Gaz'n'Kab account.
When an invitation comes along to spend a (very) long weekend on an Island with great company, you can’t say no. And so I found myself on Moreton with Gaz’n’Kab, Wall-E, Fangsoki, sweet_bee, Pprime (P`), the Paj, Herbz, and the Prado.
It was a great few days, full of caches, sand, 4WDriving, camping, thunderstorms, dolphins, sand boarding, winning at said sand boarding, one not-quite-alive turtle, hiking, a birthday, and crabs.
Thank you kholometers, for helping to make this trip!

We headed over to Moreton Island along with Fangsoki, Pprime (P`), sweet_bee, Herbz and catscatscats22 for the long weekend, and this cache was first up on the list for us! We made our way up towards the lighthouse, and exploring all that the grounds had to offer A spectacular spot from up here where we managed to get a heap of photos, and soon realised we had other business to do here We headed over to GZ and after a quick search we soon had the cache in hand and added our names to the logbook [^]

Hit the island for a long weekend with Fangsoki, Sweet_bee, Gaz'n'Kab, Herbz and catscatscats22. Today's journey took in this amazing Lighthouse, this cache (still in great condition) and the amazing orange sand. A great start for us as we checked out the amazing information centre nearby, breathed in the non-city sights, sounds and smells - the oxygen was particularly fine.
Embarrassingly I uncovered this container from it's hide without even noticing it, looked elsewhere before others pointed me back to it again - great start Prime`.
Thanks for placing this cache, kholometers. Found in good condition.

Found with a bunch of fellow cachers during a great weekend stay on Moreton. We had this one on the GPSr but hadn't realised the published coords were way off after it was moved some time ago. Fortunately other members of our group came better prepared and had the current location locked in.
We headed over to GZ and after a more careful look at the obvious spot the little container was unearthed; much to the embarrassment of one member of our group who looked there but didn't spot it at first...of course we didn't tease him about this at all. Well, it was our first cache of the day so there's probably an excuse in that.
We headed up to the lighthouse after signing the log and enjoyed a look around the museum and the views of course.

Hi
Considering the content of last logs I think that it may be appropriate for the cache owner to check on this cache and advise that it is still OK or not.
I will be checking this listing again in 28 days.

John

Nope, not there! But, the location is great. Love the information centre and the views.
Navigated to the updated coordinates found in the description and despite a fair search radius, was unable to locate the cache. The attached photo shows the coordinate site and I suspect that the cache may be lost under recent bulldozer activity.
Disappointed.... Think I found the right tree but couldnt find the cache.. maybe I didnt look hard enough...
In taking a virtual tour by satellite of your beautiful coastlines, this cache caught our attention. Thanks for letting us visit.
Another enjoyable cache found on Xmas Day in the company of the Mad Russians. Made the mistake of heading off to the coordinates before reading the description. They could do with updating.

Warning to other geocachers - go to the new coordinates mentioned in the cache's description! We walked to the original coordinates first and only then realised we were at the wrong place. Beautiful view along the walking tracks nearby the light house.

nice cache near the carpark and lighthouse. fangsoki and I walked up to the lighthouse and view was beautiful. TFTC kholmeters!
I was just thinking why the cache owner may not have adjusted the co-ordinates in the listing. Then it dawned it was probably too far - and it is listed in a National Park. I thank the cache owner for keeping this one alive
I had been here before, but Sweet_bee had not. I was pleased to see the new co-ordinates were close to the parking. We padded our way to GZ and soon found the cache. The area near the cache has been dugout (not sure if it was before or not?) but the cache is fine.
We enjoyed walking about the Cape Moreton lighthouse. it certainly is steeped in history and the little information centre is great. A fantastic place for a cache.
I have posted up the new co-ordinates in case others don't see it in the cache listing.

We walked up to the light house from the car park and with the wind blowing and rain lashing down it was hard to stay on the path. Found the cache at he revised coordinates. The log is a bit damp but we signed ok. TFTC.
Found whilst taking a tour of the northern portion of the island. Easy find. Coords are very accurate.
Saw whales, dolphins, dugong. A really interesting spot, enjoyed the history too. Thanks for this cache.
Great spot, but boy was the east side blustery today! The old coords looked like a great spot, not surprised it got fenced off!
Cache was quite wet and some batteries had leaked. Took it apart, dried it out the best we could and put a couple of items back in (we were running low on stuff that would fit, though!).

I was saving this cache until today for quite a few reasons. It's my wedding anniversary, I like lighthouses, It's Moreton Island and it's my 200th cache find. The log is a little damp but I still managed to sign it. Thanks for a cache in such a wonderful location.
Didn't find it. We foolishly put the old location into GPS before going on holiday to Moreton. Still - enjoyed the view.

Found the cache at the new location. The cache was nice and dry considering the amount of rain that fell last night.

Nice easy find after chatting to a couple of Muggles - I am sure they wondered why we wandered so far up with them to the lighthouse, then we passed them again wandering up... TFTC!
Just as well we had access to the cache notes, otherwise this traditional would have been a DNF. After correcting the coordinates, and checking out the lighthouse, we quickly had the cache in hand. TFTC kholometers

Had a few difficulties finding this cache - our gps stopped working, my itouch didn't have any details so all we were going off of were the printout i happened to have.. pretty sure we were in the area but didn't want to duck under fence we found - sounds like maybe we should have. Amazing view from up top and super cool lighthouse. Lost all my photos from that day, but super memories! Will try to cache again next time we travel to australia! Thanks from the states!
This particular cache is our 506 find.
Found this cache while on the great Moreton Island Ksix / HappyHarry school holiday camping trip.
When approaching GZ for this cache we came across a rather permanent fence that is now between cachers and GZ. Obviously things have changed a little since when this cache was first placed. Not to be deterred, Mrs Happharries and Mrs Ksix did a quick duck under the fence to find the cache.
Upon walking back to the car, screams of delight were made by all the geokids as they spotted their first whale for the trip. Fantastic view from up top.
Thanks for the hunt kholometers

On Moreton Island camping with K-six for the week.Today we decieded to head north. After sighting dolphins turtles and a whale from the lookout we continued along the path towards the cache. It looks as though the path may have changed a little as Mrs K-six and Mrs HH had to pass under the fence and off the path to locate the cache TFTC.
After a great day out with friends found the cache with Geofriend Caribou. Quite a few whales in sight although hard to spot due to the strong Nor Wester blowing. TFTC.
