We are in Dunedin for our first Mega. Did most of the leg work on previous trip. Today we finished and came to the final. Gave the lovely tree a hug so happy to see cache. All good here. Today is a need a multi day for a challenge in Christchurch. Thanks for this multi Daywalk.
Did these out of order as it made the most sense from my starting point. Could not find the clue for Stage 2, but logic dictated and check sum confirmed. Final found and logbook signed. Good week for multis! Cheers
What a lot of fun! Didnt leave myself enough daylight, but found the final in the dark! TFTC and all the effort required. Cache in good nick, was nervous opening the bag though due to risk of critters!
Nice walk in the upper gardensome spots I didnt even know existed; its a great way to explore them. The cache is in good condition, a brilliant place to hide. Glad that I found it before sunset TFTC!
Came back to finish this one off, a great wander through the gardens getting the info - really impressive place. A short bash to the final and success - phew! Cheers
Had a bit of trouble obtaining several numbers due to waypoints being changed, so needed some jiggery-pokery with checksums to find the cache. Lots of running around, needed the fresh air!
Checked, found cache in open. Please leave completely concealed. Cito'd remains of Unicol drinking bout (to judge from the Unicol branded drink bottle amongst the beer bottles).
With dodgy coords needed the hint to narrow down possibles. A short search then spotted it. Still needs repairing.
TFTC but sadly I couldn't find or figure out a few of the waypoints... Wondering if there have been some upgrades since the last finder?
We walked this on a family outing - swapped some swag then went looking for food because we’d worked up a hunger
Enjoyed a walk around the gardens this morning finding all the different points. The gardens are definitely a pretty picture at the moment.
thanks Daywalk for placing and maintaining this multi cache.
Really enjoyed

No caching during Covid-19 alert levels Level 3 & 4.

I didn't plan on caching when joining my flatmate on a Sunday morning trip to the Gardens. But sooo happy I did. Great cache and great way to explore the area. Thanks so much!
(The photo was taken on the way with no clue to the answers needed. Great spot for a little picnic break though.)

Beautiful morning walk to Dunedin Botanic Garden, small short rain, but waterproof jacket is enough. Enjoying walk, then final close to my house. Cache has awesome throne and also keeper nearby (blue tent).
New Zealand is under Level 4 lockdown from today for at least a month, because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
I am disabling all my caches for the meantime to remind people that we MUST break the chain of infection.
Covid-19 is now being spread within the community, person to person. We know that the virus will remain on surfaces like metal and plastic for up to 4 days.
We have only one chance to stop the Covid-19 virus spreading further. This is to BREAK the chain of infection by keeping each household separated completely. During this time each of us MUST keep isolated and only share with the people in our own household.
The best advice is to act as though you are infected... which you might be. We know there are cases in Dunedin... I might be infected and so might you.
If you touch a cache container, you will leave viruses on the plastic, logbook and pen. Those will remain infectious for up to 4 days. Suppose some other person finds the cache tomorrow. They are likely to pick up those viruses and will get infected.
Playground equipment is out of bounds for exactly that reason- touching surfaces can spread infection.
Each of us has to do our bit to save lives. If the Covid-19 virus spreads, a lot of us will die. Maybe your grandmother, or my friend who has just had a bone-marrow transplant.
Stay home, stay safe, let's get to the other side of the pandemic before we go geocaching again.

Zusammen mit Panne Koppa und Mini_JayJay gerne diesen Multi angegangen und dabei die Upper Gardens besichtigt. Für den unteren Teil hatten wir leider keine Zeit mehr. Schöner Multi mit gutem Rundweg.

Round the world trip Made it to New Zealand and will be traveling all around the Islands. On my way along the eastcoast I’ll be exploring Dunedin. I can highly recommend a visit in the gardens - with or without a Geocache! Spend some great hours in the different themed areas. The cache seemed to be away but CO checked and it has fallen. I didnt saw that and I am more than happy to get a permission to log. Thank you!
Thanks for bringing up this cache!
Vielen Dank fürs legen und pflegen und beste Grüße aus Leipzig!
Thanks for hiding and many greetings from Leipzig/Germany!

I made a little walk around in the botanical gardens on this beautiful morning. All answers were good to find as the final was.

Did the work the other day but it started raining so back today to find the cache and sign the log. Tftc
I had gathered info for this & a couple of other Multis during my last couple of visits to Dunedin - really pleased to put it all together & find the Cache today.
Well thought out Multi and excellent instructions to access GZ; thanks Daywalk. Another FP from me.

Yippee, finally got it! I have collected a couple of random clues some time ago, lost my notes , then collected them/other ones at another occasion, kept them in phone, and I was determined to sort the cache today! Great amble through the gardens to work out the final - and of course I took a shortcut to it after noticing that it was just a stone throw away from where I got the last number I needed! TFTC!!
Rediscovered geocaching after hearing about it from a friend many years ago. My sister and I were catching up at University then we decided to go for a stroll in the Botans and find this geocache. As a final year Surveying student I am used to dealing with coordinates to an advanced level, so found the cache using the waypoint hints with no problems and nothing but a smartphone. First cache found, will definitely be looking for more!
A day off and a lovely one at that calls for a geo adventure. On a mission to clear as many caches I can around home now that I don't need to save them for dot days (1 to go next year on 29/02). A very nice stroll was had around the gardens and lots of places I had never been before. Stopped to talk to the cheeky kea at the aviary and he liked copying my bird noises. Soon had the numbers and off to the final where I pretty much walked straight to the cache which was out in the open. Placed back in the crotch and took a different shorter route back to where I started. A very enjoyable multi as always with this CO TFTC Daywalk
I worked on four caches like this today and to be honest it was a LOT to keep track of. Very satisfying to finally finish though. Thanks for hiding!
Our plan for today was to visit the Botanical Garden and as we wanted to see it all we decided to give this multi a go as we strolled through.
We had all the numbers we needed for the final coordinates, and with a mixture of luck and judgment we were then close to the cache, although it still did not mean that the retrieval was too easy. It required a forage through vegetation that was still wet from recent rain, which meant that we were as well once we had found the cache and signed the log.
A great multi to attempt, shame it’s not done more often.

A very enjoyable walk. Just what I need to complete the Canterbury July spelling challenge. Thanks for the cache. #3047
I missed B (hope it's not gone because there was no relevant signage in sight) but finding everything else meant I could still grab the coords. Took an unorthodox way in and found it quickly. Tftc!
Collected the numbers over a couple of visits. Some of the way points took me to parts of the gardens that were new to me, others were very familiar. Log is clean and dry even though the outer container is very slightly damp inside. TFTC
A familiar stomping ground for us but nonetheless this multi took us to a couple of new places as well as some favourites. A couple of navigation missteps (one of the roads 'missing' from our GPS) made a longer detour to the final. A bush bash to GZ but a straightforward find once there and everything in good order, we were surprised to see this cache has been lonely over the past six months. One of the waypoints was missing but thanks to the checksum we were able to calculate the missing co-ordinate. TFTC #97
Thanks to nomunomad for the heads up - seems the seat at the point has recently disappeared.
A temporary 'free' clue: D = 4

Checked today - cache in good order and where it should be. It's in a black bag at head height, well-concealed under a suspicious pile of sticks...
CZECH
hint je celkem jasný a takových stromů tam moc není, navíc vypadá ideálně pro krabičku... myslím si, že je pryč

procházka zahradou ale byla fajn, navíc když teď všechno kvete a voní

Thanks for the heads up Frame Family. That was a stamp leaking...
All tidied up and new swaps added.

Found the waypoints for this one on a nice stroll with D but ran out of time to get the final. However a quick trip back later in the day with A and we found it. The hint helped a lot when trying to find the final. Something leaking in the bag but log is dry. Needs maintenance. TFTC!!
Really good adventure, takes you all over upper areas of the gardens, including places I have never been to before. Nice in the rain too
On our first day in Dunedin we explored the city a little bit and of course looked for some caches. In the morning we went to the botanical gardens, mainly for the very old cache over there. For lunch we went straight to the centre and stayed there the whole afternoon. Before returning to our campsite we checked out the unity park above the rooftops of Dunedin. What a nice city with lots of great caches.
This was our second multi of the day. We love this kind of cache. We did this one to walk around the garden and grab some other caches. We found it without any problems. Thank you very much for this one!
Greetings from Switzerland !

Had done this ages ago but didn't find it for some reason. Then lost what I had done so a warm day today and a nice walk around the clues again. Then looked at the hint and found it easy.
Got the last three numbers for this today and headed to the final. Clearly I missed the memo regarding recommended entry point...I just sort of...plonked myself on the side of the road until it was quiet - then dived in - got there in the end though. Nice cover too
In the neighbourhood for Butt its Muddy, so having the co-ords for this one in hand, made the grab with little-no drama whatsoever - great camo! Thanks yet again for the tour...your multis legitimately act like some sort of unholy alliance of history lessons and tour guides TFTC.
Checked today. 'Le Fils du Dieu' has claimed a find online (logged online 14 Dec 2015, at the same time as they claimed online finds for Northern Cemetery Heritage, Dunedin Views, NZ's First Botanic Garden , Buttit's Muddy and Royal Oak). Disappointing to see that 'Le Fils du Dieu' has not signed the logbook.
Awesome multi cache! Took me to parts of the garden that I didn't even know existed until now Defiantly one of my favs, thx heaps!
I did the spade work for this a few weeks ago and today I took the opportunity to finish it off. all in good condition. Picked up a TB.
I first tried this cache on a day off back in 2014. I initially found my solution to be done distance away, so I decided to save it for another time. I finally returned to it today when I grabbed a TB being a drop off around the area. Correcting my error was easy enough, so I went for another walk around and found the cache at my corrected coordinates. Cheers daywalk!
We did all the required walking for this last week, so today was just a little stroll.Nice dry cache, thank you.
Excellent tour of the upper Gardens. We had actually found the final waypoint but it was too dark by the time we got there last week, came back to find it today and had the wrong GPS. Lucky the daywalks had left another clue......
I probably walked right by it, but my search was cut short by rain. I won't complain...Dunedin needs the water! I'll check it out again tomorrow.
#991 did the lower garden multi so had to so the upper. Cache in good order. Thanks for the series.
Checking- found container has leaked and camouflage needs replacing. Will be be maintaining soon.
I have been slowly gathering clues over the past few months, one or two at a time as I walk or run through. However, I really enjoyed the tour, so today I went back and did the entire tour, as intended by the CO, at a leisurely walking pace! A great way to see this part of the gardens! Thanks for the great tour, a favourite for me!
I think this cache also helps me reach a personal milestone I have been shooting at for a while - putting my percentage of non-traditional cache finds below the 80% mark. Always fun to set yourself little goals!

Picked up some of the clues yesterday but as had to dash off I went back today as the rain meant few muggles.
At the final location I had problems because a yellow bucket and dog skull threw me off.
I had just given up and was heading back via the recommended path and I spotted the cache

Last before the trip home. I had started this yesterday with my muggle son but a muggle was uilising the object I needed and didn't seem to be in any hurry to move on.Spoke with the cache owner at the event last night and thanks to her the number I was looking for was supplied.
I returned this morning to continue and had moved through two more areas when my phone went off to tell me my wife was to be picked up from the hospital.
Broke into a run as I was determined to have the satisfaction of the find!
What a truly great area, the aroma from the rhodies as I walked along was superb, even the smell of the bush - in the middle of the city.
Over paths off the beaten track into areas I didn't even know existed!
Well worth persevering with this one.
Thanks

Day 10 of the 31 day caching challenge and with a few hours available we decided to take a stroll around the gardens. Thanks for bringing us to all these interesting waywards, there were several we hadn't been to before today.
I love the top part of the garden! I guess I'm more a tree person rather than a flower girl. Wish I had done the waypoints in a different order because I finished them on the opposite side of the gardens to the final. That's how it happens sometimes I guess. Thanks
Great running around the garden starting at the last waypoint and without a map so it was a confusing but pretty nice after dinner walk TFTC
A pleasant walk around the upper Botanic Gardens. A few new trails for me to follow ending in the discovery of the final cache location. The log wasn't in a snaplock container as indicated in the description but seemed safe in a screwtop container. Thanks for the effort put into creating this multi ...nice one daywalk.
Did the leg work yesterday and zipped back in today to sign the log. Thanks to the CO for replacing so quickly! Found with Aoraki Sheep.
This is our first multi and we really enjoyed our walk around the gardens yesterday. This is a great one for 'beginners' Couldn't sign the log yesterday as this was 'missing'. Thanks to the CO for replacing and we called back today to sign. Found with debsnz
Enjoyed our walk around the gardens today. Was nice to revisit places I'd been to since the kids were little. We found a pile of sticks tied together like a ladder where we expected to find cache, resorted to the explicit hint and it all pointed to where we were looking but the only find we can claim are the sticks tied together.
Thanks for the heads-up debsnz. (Whimper!) Our oldest geocache - muggled! Last saw it when checking after the big storm this winter, when it got a new outer bag and swaps. Looks like workers have gone through the area within the last couple of weeks cutting out every damaged tree, so one of them has probably taken the cache. Have replaced it with a 1.6 litre black screwtop.
Found today about 1pm having headed out from home about 11am. Yes it took us 2 hours! Take 2 adults, 1 baby, a buggy, some muddy paths, no map, and some bad calculations and add that together to = 2 hours!
Was a lovely day in Dunners today, so we decided to wrap up warm and head out with William in the buggy to do a decent multi. While walking the route we discovered that a. we really should've picked up a map and b. that Mrs T.E.F had walked most of these tracks before! However finding waypoint "G" did take us into a part of the garden she hadn't been in before. Mr T.E.F hadn't really been in any of those parts so was all new to him.
We diverted almost straight away into the Northern Cemetery as Mrs T.E.F hadn't seen it before and was particularly interested in the Larnach tomb. (Mr T.E.F has found the cache in the cemetery). Must go back for another look around one day and see if we can't find any of Mrs T.E.F's relatives.
Clever hide, well done on the camouflage! Was a great morning out - thanks so much

#1,178: Fun Multi!
I had a nice walk around the park today, picking up the WPs for this one, and logging the “oldie” here. I really like this type of cache, because not knowing the place this gives me a nice tour of some places not normally visited. Had no trouble with any of the numbers, and it was nice to have checksums too! I really liked the camo on the final as well. I’ll have to try that on one of my own hides.

Thanks for taking us through this lovely part of the botanic garden! What a nice walk on a wonderful warm autumn day! TFTC
Great fun. TFTC. Nice afternoon stroll through the gardens. Found lots more places we hadn't been
All waypoints were great, beautiful walk in this garden. But the final hide was coordinates were terrible. Everywhere around around are signs: "Don't create paths, let bush regenerate naturaly". So we weren't sure, if we can walk there. On the other hand, there were lot of treasures inside cache, thanks!
Found this morning on a beautiful autumn day. Unfortunately, I had problems finding nearly all the waypoints and the final - my GPS was called all different names along the way, lol. Thoroughly enjoyed the walk around the gardens though, most of these tracks I had never been on before so was nice to see different areas. TFTC.
finished on the second day we've been here... after I forgot to write down some coordinates two days before
We found some strange things... branches that try to kill persons (I have a nice and not that small scratch on the cheek -.-) and play houses in the middle of "wilderness" ....
T4TC it shows us a few nice places!

Did the grunt work on a cold wet Sunday, ran out of time so grabbed it at lunchtime Monday.
Good excuse to get out of the house on a miserable day and fossick around in one of Dunner's treasures.
All Coords spot on or close enough despite tree cover so big ups to owner for that.
Nicely cammed cache.

Awesome. My second multicache! Was heaps of fun and explored parts of gardens I'd never been to. TFTC
We decided to see the Botanical Gardens today, and what better way to do it than with the guidance of a multi that took us all around the gardens? Thank you for the tour, and for showing us so many different parts of the gardens.
This is the most besutiful season in the Gardens, Dropped off Green Perspex Gecko to enjoy it.
Used the explicit hint to the final and then somehow got lost getting back out - talk about directionless! Nice hide, took a while to locate. Cache is a good size container and was in good condition. Retrieved a very nice GC which I shall take up to Wellington with me. Found on my three day visit to geocaching friends in Dunedin. TFTC
Today we took a walk in the park. What a lovely surrounding for a cache. On the route to the place were the actual cache was hidden there were signs saying something like: dont build a track let forrest regrow, otherwise good hide.
Thanks for the challenge.
