Preparation let us down here. We came back from a find at Taupo Pa with the secateurs and gloves we had seen would be helpful. However, we had not read the logs enough and spent time clearing the wrong place. No cache but then no other feature mentioned. when we read the logs again Looked around and saw that we had wasted time. Used the secateurs again ... but nothing. Ahh.. maybe we should have checked over there. However, we were getting a bit short of time and were not sure of the upcoming terrain having taken the high road to Taupo Pa so pulled the plug. Of course we would have had time... but we know where to look in a future trip.

Nice low tide walk out here, getting up the arch ended up being a bit of a mission because it’s now covered in Gorse.

I removed as much as I could on the trail up so it’s a bit cleaner going up now.

While I was up there I started looking around I didn’t spot anything until a little bit away from where I was standing I suspect I spotted the only likely candidate for where it could be, but there was a bit of a mission to get over the gorse.

Fortunately I made my way and I found the cache in a decent condition, a little bit wet, but still good overall.

Dried it out a bit, sign the log and tucked it back before making my way down.

I took the TB with me as it’s been here a while and I will carry on with my walk.

Thanks!

I was doing a few acrobatics looking for this to no avail, but I may have missed it.

Cheers and thanks,

Not for us today. Splendid beach though!

1st find as part of our coastline geocache walk this arvo. Cache very wet so dried it out in the Golden Bay sun. GZ is a bit higher than mentioned in the Hint. TFTC

Cache is position and in container.

First time in many years I have holidayed in Golden Bay in February. I was expecting a walk relatively quiet walk from the Wainui car park. But it was like a busy highway, with many others taking the walk to Taupo Point. It took a couple of attempts to locate the hide, in between other walkers. After taking a step back, to rethink, the route to the hide was clear. Thanks for the hide,

On the way back from Taupe Point I also searched for this cache and found it; in lofty heights.
Here we also put down our TB Sunset Flip Flops Geocoin, which was supposed to have been put down by R2D2 here in NZ in 2017; but that didn't work out and so he travelled with us again and will hopefully experience his adventure now.

How special it that having a bach in here - awesome! I've been wanting to do your big walk cache since forever - maybe tomorrow. Had the beach to myself. I was unsure if I'd actually find this one due to the last log - road? maybe they were on another planet. Neat feature too - special all round and well worth a favourite. TFTC # 14,619

Staying in a holiday home in Wainui Bay with the canoe club. We paddle out from Tata beach to explore the coast. On the way back the large group had broken into smaller groups so I didnt feel so bad at holding everyone up while i went caching. It took a little longer than it should have to find, found a few gorse prickles in places where it wasnt. Log was wet but i was able to scratch my name onto it. Sorry i didnt have a replacement. Thanks for bringing me to a beautiful spot Shine.Kelly

The last walk we did in this NP. It was a bit cloudy but nice anyway. We used the low tide route.
We had the beach for ourselves so no problems with muggles at GZ. Found the hide after a few minutes search and climbing.
Thanks for showing! Tftc

Lovely place for cache! The log is slightly wet.

On a two week adventure visiting beautiful New Zealand for the second time. Last time we did the southern half of the Southern Island and this time we are doing the northern half along with the southern portion of the Northern Island. We decided to take some time exploring Abel Tasman NP and took a wonderful walk from the Wainui Bay parking lot to the beach at the northwestern point. Fortunately, the tide was out and the water gave us no problems. Thank you for bringing us to this wonderful area; I greatly enjoyed visiting the arch and climbing all around on it. TFTC!

Family get together today and so I decided to go for a run to Jack's bach. We used to come here as kids every summer and stay in the bach, dad helped roof it long ago. Best childhood memories ever, fishing and hunting possums and exploring. I came out today and had a skinny dip at the beach .

Thanks for the cache, the log is wet unfortunately.

Dan.

Found with no problem, very nice surroundings. What a wonderful place!
We chose not the best time and stucked on the rocks during a high tide, but it was nice sunny day, so no problem Smile
Cache is very wet and fungious inside.

Thank you for the cache and greetings from two Czechs!

A beautiful crisp day, no one around while a number of us had a good hunt but couldn't find the cache. A lovely walk with the 8 year old and 80 year old both looking strong clambering over the rocks.

26-Dec-15
Today we needed an excuse to get the boat out of the shed for the first time in far too long, great weather and Geocaching was it! Mum, Dad and I got as far as Whariwharangi, picking up geocaches along the way and going for a swim. There were no topless women around as there was on my last attempt here almost four years ago, but it still took all three of us quite a while to figure out where it was, I eventually made the find. Despite a good look - at many levels - we found nothing here today.

We will be back...

Took a while, so stood back and thought it might be there, used to be a metal rod accross the entrance for hanging pots to cook crays and mussels. TFTC.

Shinichi87 and I found this little one on our road trip around the south island. Our beloved Campervan Gimli took us in every single part of the South Island, so we could collect a lot of Caches Smile
This one we coud find after a nice walk along the emty beach and after spending some time laying in the sun:-)

Thanks for placing this and telling the story of the Bach. I got confused and headed for the back of the Bach but eventually we found a far more interesting hideout.

I've never been out here before, what a magical spot. We wandered out to the Pa along the beach then back along the track as the tide was coming in. Well definitely be back along here sometime soon. TFTC.

What a magical place to holiday at, thank-you for sharing it with us Shine Smile

I had the beach all to myself today too, well l thought I did until I came upon a huge seal on the rocks ..

A good excuse to have a wander around the mid tide mark to this spot. Having got there and viewing he bach inquestion with dry feet and under warm sunny skies, I thought what an mzing history this place would recount. Many thanks for drawing me here, TNLN

Nephew (age 6) found and rehid and found and rehid and found while we were there for Easter break - so I did some maintenance and rehid.

He was VERY keen on finding and rehiding and he stayed at the bach longer than me so I hope he left it well hid!!!

Out paddling with Ducksarse Dave and stopped here for a swim Cool. Had beach to ourselves so able to sign log without difficulty, apart from a little gorse to avoid. Love this spot. TFTC.

One of my favourite beaches Big Grinto paddle to from Tata Beach. Found cache without any problems, no topless muggles about todayTwisted.

04-Jan-12
There was what looked to be a topless sunbather quite close to GZ - I did my best to have a look - at GZ that is, not her - but didn't want to give away what I was doing...

Wow reading back to myself what I have just written, there is no way to make it sound not dodgy... oh well lol

Shine retreat time again! Had a lovely restful day and a bit with my Mum at the bach. She helped me do some gorse maintenance and I also dried the cache a tad and threw out some water damaged items - someone had not put log book etc back in the ziplock (!?!).
Good quiet time of year for finding this cache!

26-Apr-11
Walked the Totaranui to Wainui bit of the track, and this looked like an interesting detour at the end. What a fabulous place for a bach - no doubt it's time is limited now on DOC land.
Thanks, Jackie & Grant

We enjoyed the walk!
The cache was easily found, perhaps a bit to easy. The cache was last found by a girl who wanted to get changed at this spot (there are easier ways to change into your logs, I would say...). There is hardly any hiding around the cache anymore.

Sorry for the late log. I've been busy travelling around and now back in Switzerland. Found this one easily. Nice little trip to this cache at the end of the Abel Tasman Track. TFTC.

17-Dec-10
Clambered round the rocks in the rain to search for this cache as we DNFed last year. On a day like today the last thing we expected was to find a couple of hikers camped out at the GZ - we do have bad luck with muggles sometimes. Nothing for it but to come clean and get searching. They had heard of caching and were quite interested to see the cache which was quickly found by Mrs H. TFTC

Our first cache for the day on our GBH tour, we timed it a little bit out and had to take the high road at the last part to the cache. A very spectacular spot for a cache and really worth the visit. Took heaps of photos on the way in and also on the way back out, now I know why and understand more how people can love this location so much. Definitely a spot that is worth visiting, thanks for bringing us here. TFTC TNLNSL (1722)

We headed out this way first thing, although just a tad too late on the incoming tide so had to take the upper track. Just made it back out without getting wet feet (just)! A beautiful spot, and well worth the visit. A nice easy find too.

Shine reteat was perfect opportunity to check on my special cache!
I dried it out a bit (will post photo when I get home) - also decied to move the travel bug on (will log that when I get home as well - don't have it on me right now).

Caught up with my Uncle re:the last DNF entry "What'd you hide up the arch!?"

Noticed my brother in law has cleared some gorse and made a little track which conveniently will help cachers (he doesn't know there is a cache there, he jus tlikes the view).

Managed to get a few days without the Holiday water skiiers and boaters... still lots of nudies though!

TFTC - Great walk on a fine Golden Bay day.

08-Jan-10
Left it a bit late in the day to take the low road so came at this from over the top. Spent a good half hour searching the GZ and used the clue as well but could not find the cache. Spent another half hour talking to the folk painting The Bach and reminiscing about local Bay characters, many now gone. Thanks for bringing us here but alas, a DNF to finish our holiday.

22-Dec-09
We came to this spot by high tide which was very amusing with all the climbing. The way back was much easier.
What a wonderful beach - we had it for ourselfes and enjoyed it!

Unfortunately chose high tide to do this walk, so had to go the over-and-down route to the cache site. A fabulous walk and some lovely beaches. Oystercatchers and a very nosey weka near the cache! Had a fun scramble to find the cache itself - easily found as not well concealed - left as found as there was no suitable camo nearby and I was in a hurry to return to my party and get back before getting totally cut off by the tide. Many thanks for bringing me to this lovely place.

Took the hard route at GZ to find this one should look around first.Yes this is what holidays should be about.
Enjoyed going out here again as has been 30 years since KiwiNan and I camped at Taupo Point.

that is cool. a race against the tide, bit of rock climbing, hide the cache that was out in the open, what a structure. will be back to complete the walk when we get the tide right. thnx.

20-Jun-09
A beautiful walk in the sunshine to gz, barely a ripple on the sea. Once near gz there was one especially great looking spot to hide a cache and that's where the needle pointed us. Bringing your supplies into "The Bach" must be fun. TFTC.

20-Jun-09
Mr KE and I checked out the tide times for today and it looked like a good option to check it out. What an awesome spot for a bach and a cache. The trees look blow dried which I imagine they are. The sea was as calm as a mill pond. Peace ruled today - especially after finding the cache. TFTC, Biggles.

31-May-09
After our previous failure due to bad tide timing, we had another go this morning. Starting off at low tide at 8:50am, no wind, the early morning winter temperatures were quite bearable. Left Mrs B and Toddler B behind on the point, and Jr B and Mr B pushed on to arrive at GZ. Some nice photos around GZ and the "batch" before we headed back. Great cache - as long as you get the tides right! Wink

21-Jan-09
Lovely walk around the bay and around to Taupo Point. If you plan to go here don't forget your togs, some muffins went skinny dipping because the water was so enticing. Came back too late to get round the point as the tide had come up too high but took high level route with no problems.

After a few days of being beaten by height, we decided to throw caution to the wind and battle the tide instead. After all, how can you fall off a beach? Made it to withing 80m of GZ. With $3k+ of gear and no dry bag, a 2 year old on the back and water getting to waist high, the approach was abandoned for another day. We had a ball trying. It was a stunning day. In fact, it topped off one of the least successful caching trips (3 DNF out of 7 caches visited) which was at the same time one of the most enjoyable. We're actually losing the smiley hunger. Shhhhh. Don't let the others know. We'll be thrown out of the FTF racing club Wink

(EDIT: changed Found to DNF)

Just dropping our travelling geocoin in for miles, forgot to do this when we logged the find.

11-Jan-09
Lovely walk on a sparkling Golden Bay day. No nudies today, just a few people swimming in the bay. Quick and easy find at GZ. Visited bach, marvelled at its location and the logistics at building it. No time to walk around to Taupo Point, more's the pity, as needed to get back to celebrate K's birthday with a romantic candlelit dinner (Yeah Right!)

Paddled around from Wainui Bay in kayak after breakfast. Found after a short search. So pleased to find a cache here close to where we have been coming for our summer holidays for the last 20 years. Like an extra Christmas present. TN, Left a calling card. TFTC

29-Nov-08
Even though I couldn't walk around the beach, the tide was low enough to make the rock hopping pretty easy. Amazing place for a bach - thanks for sharing it.

02-Nov-08
What a beautiful spot. Found with Tata B. The tide was a little on the high side so we had to go via the path over the hill but it was still a very leisurely 30 min stroll each way. This place so deserves a geocoin to enjoy the serenity for a while and with summer coming I hope there will be a few more geocachers visiting that it gets to move on before it gets bored.

FTF, Nice day, Low tide, Golden bay, need a walk, a cache
how many excuses do you need Smile
Most enjoyable walk around the coast, a popular track even this time of year, thanks for giving me another reasion to check out that end of the track a place I haven't been before, I walked on down the to old par site and had a good look around, interisting spot!!
I traded in the Goldfish for 200 cents thanks for that:)

That is great news, kiwi-nomad! Honoured that my fav cache maker was FTF my cache!
Great pics! maybe that will entice people to make the effort to get this cache! (although the first one makes my knees feel funny coz I know exactly where you are standing!!) i was just thinking about this cache last night wondering when someone was gonna find it!

Well done, kiwi-nomad! And congrats on the goldfish too!

If you had have told me you were going I could have given you the key and you could have stayed the weekend!
