Read the books, watched the movies, now we have started finding the caches. tftc#7290

31-Dec-23
This puzzle brought back memories of our kids younger days. Seems like they grew up at just the right time to enjoy Harry P. I managed to deduce some number that made sense so took a slight detour on my way to the shops this morning to come and find the cache. All good here. Cache found safe and sound as per the hint. TFTC, Biggles.

15-Oct-23
Found with Gummi_Venus and ivss_xx. This was our last cache on a great day making a broad sweep of the area. Ive had it solved for ages but never bothered to pick it up, for some reason. My coords were a bit off but some geosense led me to the prickly GZ. Signed and headed back to chch for a well earned pint and dinner.

15-Oct-23
Found with ObnoxiousSpaceCat and ivss_xx, a bit further from coords but enjoyed doing this puzzle. TFTC!

14-Oct-23
18:50 FITW ObnoxiousSpaceCat, Gummi_VenusI think the Prisoner of Azkaban was maybe my favorite HP book. I still had to google the answers as it's been years and years since I read it.It was also a while ago when I solved this but I remember that the appeal date was a bit of a tricky one.At the final GZ, following TA's advice from the previous log we were able to locate the cache quickly yet prickly enough.Kia ora! Paldies! Thanks for the cache, jakeemon!#9975

23-Apr-22
Solved some time ago, and found today on a caching tour near Rolleston and Burnham. The coordinates are quite a bit off, but we used geosense and found it before too long. By our estimate you need to add 0.006 to the south minutes, and 0.004 to the east minutes. TFTC!

12-Feb-22
Not too hard to find thanks to previous cachers' helpful hints. Thx for the puzzle!

25-Sep-21
I have had this solved for years along with the sibling further down the road which I have unsuccessfully looked for in the past. Seems a bit strange but this is the first time I have stopped to look for this one. Nothing likely where the GPS lead me but it is easy to spot where this one is from there. TFTC # 17,698

13-Apr-21
We are spending several days in the area and with time to look for some of the many solved puzzle caches, some of which have been solved for several years.
Several hours and a large carbon footprint later we have a bigger sea of yellow on the map.
This was our second harry Potter themed cache today.
Thank you jakeemon.

13-Apr-21
It's been a while since we visited Canterbury and then it used to be for particular caches usually north of the city. This time we based ourselves at Weedons with two goals. To clean up the TWGT caches and find as many of the puzzle caches we solved and accumulated over the years in the area. It's been a very successful few days if we discount changing a tyre in the dark while it's raining at 5.30am. Thank you jakeemon

13-Apr-21
This one eluded me on last visit 18 months ago so I sought help from a previous finder prior to today. Seemed to be a different place indicated this time and the cache was soon located and signed. That's another one found, though I've not had much luck with many of the others, and no checker is the concern mostly. All good with this one and was last for the day.

With my meetings and interactions completed I got into some caching attire and headed out before I lost light for the evening. Another few caches and some roads I'd not been down before, or been to for years and nice to enjoy the different scenery, as well as a couple of irate fliers Puzzles.
I have a trip to Christchurch on the cards for Tuesday and back Wednesday and had to leave from Auckland airport good and early and get back in time for Wednesdays rush hour home time traffic, yay. A good time away though with a couple of useful meetings, some nice food and a few caches where time permitted.

08-Aug-20
Never been down this track before, bit risky after heavy rain, fortunately, we didn't get stuck. The cache was a quick park and grab; TFTC

04-Jan-20
I've had two previous attempts at this and all I've found is lots of gorse. Knowing I would have the chance to cache on this side of the city on this trip I ran my coordinates past a previous finder and she confirmed they were correct so on my way back to Christchurch after a couple of days caching in north/central otago and south canterbury I was determined to stop and not leave until I found it. I can't believe it this time the GPS took me straight to it and I even avoided the gorse, just one slight prick on the way out. I am very pleased to get rid of the blue frown on my map, its been bugging me for a couple of years now and most visits to Christchurch I dont get much further south than the city. Thanks jakeemon

With most of today's cache finds being park 'n' grabs, I was grateful that this one provided the option of a decent walk. My GPSr zeroed out at a featureless location so I wondered if I had even solved the puzzle correctly. After checking some earlier logs and seeing some referred to an environment that seemed to match an area close to where I was, I spotted a couple of potential sites and was pleased to uncover the treasure at my second choice.

28-Dec-18
We had been in Christchurch for a couple of days and now we were ready to head further South. This was our first stop of the day. Luckily we managed to head to GZ via the easy way so we parked just about right along side. Had to weave our way through the hawthorn carefully so we didn't get pricked. I had solved the puzzle a long time ago and GK made the find, so on this one we made a pretty good team.
Thank you for the puzzle and the smiley

04-Jan-18
Yay nice to get the final of this one which I solved some time ago. I initially tried the locked gate end of the road before back tracking to the more obvious end. Cache was found pretty quickly exactly as per the hint. TFTC

22-Oct-17
We were rather lucky, although our calculations were a bit out someone had been a couple of days before and left clear elephant tracks that we hoped would lead us to the right spot. Even so we managed to leave a bit of red stuff getting to it. Thanks for the puzzle.

18-Oct-17
Have had this solved for some time so went exploring after work. Never realised there was a road here. Thanks for the puzzle and cache.

28-Aug-17
Had this solved for a while and today the weather and with the on my side it was time for an adventure to retrieve the cache. Researching where it was I found the best access and located the cache quickly. Log signed and popped back.

Phew! what a relief. Found fairly easily, the road in was "interesting" and I started to doubt myself, but just a few metres out from co-ords, saw the hint object and yehaa, one cache. TFTH and the puzzle. Cool

06-Nov-16
Unfortunately after the drive in we failed to locate this - it is possible we had a digit wrong on the answer ( oh how we which all puzzles had a Geochecker !!) but also if the GZ is correct it looks rather worst for wear with **ALOT** of fallen branches, gorse and general impenetrable-ness so left this one in the series behind for this trip.

20-Jan-16
I was determined to find this cache after the drive to get near GZ.... after trial and error we made it. T4tc

20-Jan-16
No problems with the solve, co-ords a bit out for us but cache was soon located by Pagenz. TFTC

Nice to finally get these ticked off!!! I had solved them all quite a while ago, found some, but run out of time for these two.

So went out with the whanau today to make the finds - turns out mum solved them also!!!

Great to get them off the map! Smile

I could no longer stand staring at the book series every night on the shelf, and decided to attempt the puzzles! As the only number I was familiar with was the platform, it took quite a bit of time to find the answers between the books and google... At one point I even started feeling like I could enjoy the books, especially if I read the whole story, rather than just looked for odd numbers here and there Razz
Afterwards, i grabbed everyone who was willing to come with me to find the cache. Nice walk to gz, and then a surprisingly quick find - exactly here you would expect it! Very pleased about sorting this one!! TFTC!!!

30-May-15
What a mish! Took a bit of hunting but hubby eventually found it. Tftc Smile

19-Feb-15
I was looking through the list of lonely caches for those challenges, and found this one, which I was sure I must have completed but not found at some point, must have got it confused with another one in the series. Anyway I got stuck in and found the answers, Google is my friend. I was fairly confident on all but two of the answers, but based on a couple of other factors I managed to narrow it down and got a good set of coordinates. Did all this this evening, then went out after dark to pick up the cache. Arrived about 80m away from my worked out location (on SH1) and spotted what looked like better access on the satellite images, that paid off and found the cache safe and sound exactly where the hint said it should be, almost a year since the last find. Dropped TB. TFTC (1661)

30-Mar-14
Finally found this one. Third visit trusted GPS and sure enough there it was. TFTC.

11-Mar-14
Found after chatting to cyclists about the road. They knew about caching thank goodness. Probably time the hint was up dated. The tree has long gone, as the stump looks quite aged. However cache is still there warm and dry not too far away. No need to go deep into the thorns. Thank you. enjoyed the contest!!

07-Jan-14
6 of 14 today - a quick trip to collect a TradeMe purchase and clean up the caches in Burnham and Rolleston. Sadly there were three that evaded me Sad That's two of the series done, I hope the archived ones come back one day as I'd like to get the lot (hint hint Wink )

Very cool. Google is your friend. TFTC.

06-Nov-13
Quick find. We have had this one solved and on our radar for ages and tonight was the night. Glad it hadn't been raining.

13-Oct-13
Found it although the prickly plants gave Master B (wearing shorts) a hard time. Shame we can't complete this series due to others being archived.

27-Jul-13
We have been sitting on this puzzle for awhile now and were cleaning up some of the caches close to home today. Found the cache after a bit of searching. TFTC

15-May-13
916 - My second visit to GZ but this time I left the dog at home and came with plenty of time to have a look. After driving the long way last time, we took a "short cut" this time and this made parking sooo much easier. The hawthorne still managed to get me though and HelloMrs had the cache cornered while I was busy fending off the attacking thorns. Very happy to get this off my solved but not found list. TFTC

I have been sitting on this solved puzzle for years. Today I was making a concerted effort to find these stragglers. No sure we took an approved route but got there all the same fighting the scrub. TFTC

Again with the help of some cachers who are Mr Potter Fans. Dirty Harry?

My knowledge of this subject is zilch, but by asking the right questions I got an answer I was happy with. My final was a little bit out but the cache was a quick find with the aid of the hint. TNLN SL TFTC

03-Feb-13
I visited two different Gzs in search of this cache as one question had me a little perplexed. One GZ needs more investigation but my dog doesn't like that particular kind of footing so I'll be back without him next time so I can have a really good look. It was way too hot to leave him in the car today so I moved on to the next one.

The second of the series for us today

18-Oct-12
Reperio at 0915.

This was one of the many puzzles we solved before coming across to New Zealand in preparation for the upcoming mega event, and solving it brought back memories of the book and movie. Today we were headed for Timaru, and took in a little detour to get to GZ and find the cache.

Gratias jakeemon.

Find # 4271 and a total of 84 today with Marcus Vitruvius on the 2nd day of our NZ Mega trip,
on the way south from Christchurch to Timaru. I just loved this country and driving around it looking for caches.
Another excellent cache and hide and a quick find. TNLNSL TFTC jakeemon,

Another great find on the Emvy_Us / Waiiti20 mega tour of the Southern South Island. TFTC

15-Oct-12
Found at 4:31:00 PM. The puzzle was solved before we left Australia so it was good to finally log this one. A very fitting GZ location.

Nice location and puzzle.
Thanks.

Enjoyed completing the research and thankfully the cache was not covered with an invisibility cloak so we found it after a short search TFTC.

14-Dec-11
It was a day to spend in Ashburton picking up a few caches.

Did this one on my way back to CHC. I climbed the fence and then through the thorny bushes.

Cheers for the cache.

TFTC. Great puzzle and the final location was noted and enjoyed. No dementors anywhere in sight though. This is the second of the series I have completed.

Quickly solved and found in the late afternoons sunshine. Drove right up to GZ so simple as. Had a giggle when I saw the street name & then saw what facility was nearby.....Thanks.

A nice day for a drive in the country. Solved a while back, just needed to get out and collect, which I did today without too much difficulty. A good puzle based on a very popular set of books.

10-Jan-11
Juniors were big help with the puzzle. Find made OK.

26-Sep-10
Refound this one to sign after first finding 2 years ago with StreetWalker - at least it was easy to get to GZ, not like the Philospher's stone!
Thanks for the series. We were one of the few who were able to find all of the caches, including the final.

20-Jun-10
A nice easy find while out this way today. TFTC. Cheers Bo

Solved all the Harry Potter puzzles back home in Auckland. Enjoyed both the puzzle series and the books.
A fitting area for the hide, but our rental car did not like the 'road'! Nice easy find though. Thanks.

After avoiding the HP series made a start and got some numbers after much googling. Approached this one from highwey, quite a scramble. Took the 3 geocoins as they had been prisoners for some time. TFTC

13-Sep-09
How did we miss it on our first visit? The coords were correct, but we needed a magic moment to discover the cache. Sometimes it is just better to stop a search and come back later.

#312 (6/13 on a day SW of Christchurch). Found with Troodles. Second of the Harry Potter caches for us. Troodles solved this a while ago. Bit of driving round to being with as I hadn't noted well enough exactly where the cache is. GPSr wasn't terribly accuracte, but we eventually widened the search area enough to come across it.

16-Jul-08
After failing to find this cache back in April, we were successful this time - in fact it was very obvious in the barer winter conditions. TFTC

+ Verzascat Travel Express Geocoin - a Harry Potter cache next to a railway line seemed ideal - it might see the Hogwarts Express.

A quick diversion on the way to town this morning, I had thought this road was blocked off with the gates, but it's not the case. Took a while to track it down, swapped geocoins. Thanks!

11-May-08
A bit of a recalculation, after obviously being in the wrong spot last weekend. This time everything was right, and the cache was found quickly. Not quite where the GPS said, but close enough. Left Happy Player TB.

11-May-08
A bit more difficult than the other 2 HP caches we did today. Was feeling lazy, so drove to gz, but this road needs a warning along the lines of 4WD only ! We now have one very dirty family car ! The tree at gz was searched thoroughly by us and the kids without reward, so we expanded the search area and Sarah yelled out "found it" approx 10 minutes later. Took Civil War coin, left Canadian geocoin and keyring. TFTC !
Kids are looking forward to the fifth "book".

01-May-08
I too have an excellent HP consultant as my grand-daughter. After some uncertainty on one question, we finally got it sorted, and the cache was very soon located. The name of the road it is on does have a certain irony, I thought!! No swaps, thanks and cheers from Grandalf(1137)

25-Apr-08
I had help with this from Pohutakawa who is a big HP fan. It was almost an easy find when we got there. Cheers Gav [2151]

I have a HP puzzle solving committee at home, with Mrs Moneydork and Middle Moneydoek racing one-another to answer the questions. TFTC.

+ Geocoin.

24-Apr-08
Solved the puzzle, along with the other HP puzzle caches, last week. This is the 4th and last of the four caches that I planned to visit on today's 48km cycle caching exploration of the backroads from Templeton. The unsealed road from Burnham Army Camp to the GZ proved to quite okay for my road bike. But, like the Sallies it took me a little while to find the cache. I had 3 x 'man's look' at THAT tree before I found the cache. Red Face I was obviously in need of a caffine fix so the next stop was made at a Rolleston cafe for a Cappachino and a savoury muffin - Mmmm. Very nice. Smile + Tag ..I'm it geocoin. Thanks for the cache.

2095. Back to our son for help with this one. When he decided - some years ago now - that he should find out about this Harry Potter character he read the first few books by downloading and reading them on his laptop. How anyone could do that I don't know but I know that he did relent and buy the latter books so that the reading would be more comfortable.

It did take a bit of searching as the obvious spot didn't reveal anything so we went a bit further afield and in the end heard those "plastic" tones.

We took the Stork TB with us.

Thanks
Iris & Rodney
