No luck for Sully and I today, and despite fighting heaps of mozzies, and a twenty min search, we eventually gave in.
Thanks anyway doobie doo3
Thanks anyway doobie doo3
Bogonghazy and I arrived at GZ to be greeted by lots of Mozzies. We decided since we were here and 2 previous DNF's we would still search for the cache. We hunted for a good 15-20 mins, both heading in all directions and widening the search quite a way from where the GPS said. We still came up empty handed. Will try again another day, thanks to doobie doo3 for the hunt.
Was out on a mini-mission today to clean up the Drysdale & Clifton Springs area. This one was my first one on the radar.
A quick, simple & enjoyable puzzle and an easy stroll in an area I never knew was here, so thanks for bringing me here!

So after working out the crossword before we pretty much started, we did calculations and got the gps coordinates and we took off through. Went right round the whole basin and back up to the car park coming out the other entrance, constantly looking at our gps which was way off. When we got up to the car again, rebooked at of numbers.. Turns out our maths isn't the greatest. Git one number wrong haha, so now we got the correct coordinates and off again.... Well hidden. Fun cache and cool location, Did this at night btw, attack of the killer possums. Mosquitoes everywhere.
Loved this multi. Used to come here all the time, such a jewel. Easy puzzle for spot on coords. Tftc sl tnls

Amazing surroundings with a lovely view. Coordinates were a bit off but was a brilliant cache. TFTC
Great find, though GZ was about 5m from the cache (could have been due to accuracy on gps) wonderful area, never would have found it if not for geocaching. Highly recommend doing the whole circuit, the questions can be answered with some guessing but the walk is too amazing to be skipped. Lots of nice viewpoints too, TFTC
Did crossword at gate, then realised more involved for 1. Inside. Did the circuit and came back for quick grab. Nice day for it, thanks!
Found on a enjoyable day out with our friends, suss vulture. Took a while for SV to remember this one, but once they did, they enjoyed solving the puzzle again. Some we solved with preconceptions, but others required a bit of looking. One question was solved with some clever thinking instead of doing the research around the reserve. Solved the puzzle after a few simple faults, then we were off to GZ. A lovely reserve that I never knew about, great environment around here. After a few minutes at GZ, it was found in a good spot. Nice hide. Thanks for showing us this beautiful area. TNLNSL. TFTC dobbie doo3!
The last find of the day and a fun cache it was too as Buckleysbabe is a fan of crossword puzzles. Arrived at WPT1 and headed in for a wander listening to the Pobblebonks and Spotted-marsh frogs trying to outcompete each other in the noise stakes (reminded me of another hollow on a different part of the Bellarine Peninsula and another caching adventure). The answers to the puzzles were soon in hand and it was back in to make the find. Fortunately, this was done very quickly as the cache appeared to have been cleverly disguised as a cloud of mosquitoes!!
The little suckers were extremely thick on the ground, in the air, on the greenery and, well, everywhere, so I signed the log and put everything back before making a hasty retreat to safety!
Thanks doobie doo3 for bringing me to this very pretty spot of which I was not previously aware.

What a fantastic piece of land. So peaceful, quiet and scenic. Never knew this was here. Enjoyed the walk. Thanks to doobie doo3 for bringing me here.
Our weeks' holiday in Portarlington is nearly at an end and with the Grand Final to watch this arvo (Go Hawks!!!) we headed off mid morning to find some more caches around PA and the puzzles that G had solved which were a bit further afield. This was the first of the puzzles and GZ brought to a goreous ferny reserve. We took the long way around to GZ and once again enjoyed the cacophony of 2 different types of frogs as we were walking along. G also had trouble closing the container but finally got it closed, we think maybe the seals are wearing in the weather?

Not sure if we went the right way around or not - one gate is taller and one is wider- but certainly enjoyed our stroll around this lovely little spot, as did the geodog.
Cache container is not in good shape and lid and log were out in the open as the lid doesn't close/seal properly.
Thanks for bringing us here today, doobie doo3

jandaw's 74th find
Cache container was found with both lid and log lying in the open (separate from each other) however log was still dry. Container itself appeared to be in correct spot so perhaps an animal has gotten into it looking for food? Lid does not attach/seal well and could do with replacing.
Found this cache today. This is an amazing area. Thanks a lot for bringing me here. I made this one difficult for myself - I firstly went in through the wrong entrance and geocar was protesting (she is only a 2wd car with low suspension!) - she got there but then was relieved when I parked her and walked from there. I then walked to the start point and found all of the answers to the crossword with the exception of question one which I guessed and got an answer that was correct to find the answer to the puzzle (although maybe not the correct answer!). This question is a bit ambiguous. I then went to find the cache and it was fine but the cache container was not shutting properly on one of the clips. I signed the log but didn't swap anything. I rehid the cache with a bit more camouflage. It may be worth the owner checking this out to ensure that this cache lasts.
Thanks for the cache doobie doo3.
Thanks for the cache doobie doo3.
A friendly puzzle cache in an enjoyable spot. Worked out the answers at the parking spot and had a short walk to GZ. The cache was out in the open - perhaps carried by the hordes of mozzies that were around! We placed it back in the logical hiding spot for safe keeping. TFTC
27/10/12 This was found with my caching friend Square Pegs on a day spent exploring the Bellarine Peninsula before returning to Melbourne. It was a great day and we scored a variety of other caches as well visiting areas I've never been to which is what I like about caching. Thanks to the CO for bringing me here today.
On a day trip to the Bellarine Peninsula with abl973, it was a chance to find some of the puzzle caches around the area. Late in the afternoon, this was a lovely spot and we were soon adding our names to the log. Thanks for the cache.
Nice short walk to find this one. Didn't have the aeroguard so didn't hang around took screwdriver and left TB thanks

Well, it's the weekend again and today is going to be an absolutely glorious day. A perfect day for a caching run on the Bellarine Peninsula with my caching mate, SedgwickDave.
What a fantastic little park. We parked where suggested and started gathering the required information for GZ on our walk around the park. A nice little puzzle and a quick easy find once at GZ.

Out caching today with caching mate ahomburg with today's region being the Bellarine Peninsula. Never been to this part before only QueensCliff so it was nice to explore the surrounding region.
Was keen to do this one as it seem like a multi but was also an unknown, I like these sort of different style caches.
Having arrived at the start point collected the info and took the gate to the west as was not sure if the other gate was what was required, this one look a bit bigger. This assumption was found to be right and while walking around calculated GZ and in the end was a quick find. While signing the log there were heaps of mossies wanting blood so it was a quick sign and off back to the car. TFTC Doobie doo3, left blue gem stone. A favorite.

I was looking forward to completing this one as soon as I spotted it on the web site. I was not disappointed either.
Tag-along and I were trying to work out just how the basin formed as we walked about collecting clues and enjoying the scenery. A jogger ran past us and Tag-along detoured to enjoy the view from the platform. Mossies were starting to bite so we moved on a little more quickly.
Its always nice when these puzzle caches work.

Nicked up during work. Much better than organizing classes. Great hiding spot. Good fun, with the crossword.
Our 10th ? cache.
The crossword was completed within the safe vicinity of the car. We struggled with 1 down, but after we worked a few more words out, we realized that it didn't matter. I initially went the wrong way to GZ, but worked my way around the track. The GPS reception wasn't great, but I could tell whereabouts it was. Was going to be a GAFF 1, but I couldn't tell whether it was on the path or not. A quick look at the clue confirmed my suspicions. I took dad around to GZ and found the cache quickly.
Probably took something and left something. Can't remember what. TFTC

Nice puzzle taking me to a park I didn't know existed. Thanks for the effort and cache
A fun puzzle which I tried to work out virtually a few days ago but didn't get very far. We were in Drysdale today buying fish and getting a few caches and o realised i had the puzzle printed out in my bag. Lobster6 7 aged 7 enjoyed the walk and solving the puzzle.
A beautiful place, out of bounds but there were a few visitors this Sunday so we had to park our car out of the way. The puzzle was quickly solved. We enjoyed the area and the healthy-looking bracken and grass trees, and signed the log. By that time the other visitors had left, and we had the place to ourselves.

When I told jsmyong55 that I was heading down to some night time caching east of Geelong he said he was in. Prior to leaving we worked on a few of the puzzles in the week before we left to make sure we could maximise our finds. I think in the end we ended up with about 45 for the night, so we were very happy with our efforts. In Geelong we met up with a local cacher, Bushfire and his caching stories amused us as we zipped between caches. This was one of the caches found tonight. After working this one out at home it was just a matter of having a nice walk to GZ. Thanks Doobie doo3 for the cache.

Finally its time for our Geelong night caching run. We had spent some time on preparing for this trip, solving the puzzles beforehand so that we were able to pick them off once we headed down here. We had another local cacher Bushfire come on board with us to do some caching too. He was one that I have had contact with via email but had not met up before. Nice ol' bloke he was. Almost all the caches he has cleared out the already so he left us to do what we came for while he watched. Travelling in between we exchanged stories of caching adventures, some of which are pretty amusing. In the end, we bagged around 45 and headed home tired in the wee hours of the morning.
This was one of our finds that night. Solved the puzzle before so we just walked over to GZ. Short stroll in and quick find before we had the cache in our hands. TFTC

What a great spot!! We parked at the appropriate co-ords and attempted the crossword. After making an educated guess the cache was soon in hand.
Plenty of mozzies flying around today. Luckily the area is dry, otherwise we could have seen some leeches.

One of 37 found on another night caching run with my good mate Marty (Quasar3671) in the Geelong and Bellarine Peninsula area. Got to GZ and worked out the puzzle. Took the long walk to GZ because we completely missed the correct way to GZ. Never mind, it was a bit of an adventure. TFTC and showing us this place.
One of 37 finds for the night with my good mate Blacklegend (Marshy) during our 2nd Geelong night cache run. We were now making our way along to the Bellarine Peninsula. Our second puzzle for the night and we sat in the car and completed the cross word and worked out the coords for GZ before heading out to find the cache. As it turned out we went the hard way to GZ, and when there had to clear the way of all sotrs of funky looking spiders before I found the cache. Passed it out to Marshy who signed the log, then back to me for the rehide. Nice puzzle - thanks doobie doo3.
Went caching on bicycle today. I am not fit!
Got info OK, but the check sum did not work for me, despite the fact that I had the right numbers for GZ ?
Plenty of flying mozzie mugglers so I dispatched a few. TNLN TFTC

Found by Team Ladava with grandsons around 3.15pm after a short search
Babysitting grandchildren is a great excuse to go caching and they are really starting to 'get into it'
We 'solved the puzzle' a couple of weeks ago sitting in the car with the rain pouring down but with an occasional dash out to get the next bit of information but it was just too wet to venture out for the find.
Today we got out and were almost abducted by the mosquitoes. Boy are they thick.
Eventually braved the attack for a find and walk in the delightful area with a symphony of frog calls coming from the pond.

Our thanks to doobie doo3 for the cache and taking us to this lovely location.
I remarked to the grandkids that “I wonder if it is an extinct volcano with the shape of the depression”.

Wow, what a wintery afternoon. P-P completed the research earlier in the week and calculated the co-ords while H-P was otherwise occupied. So today was a quick but enjoyable walk in an interesting reserve. We think its great that the students at the local secondary college are involved with the maintenance of the reserve.

We helped Mrs Monch complete the puzzle then headed off to find the cache. While the boys raced off ahead Mrs Monch provided a clue and the cache was found by Mrs Squalid. Nice bushland, but we all beat a hasty retreat when we were found by the mozzies. Took the Firetruck TB - thanks for the cache.
I have to admit that I have been putting off this one because I did not think I would be able to solve it (being relatively new to geocaching and unsure of so much). But today I said "I am going to give it a try". And what do you know - I FOUND IT! What a fantastic place! The Grass Trees are gorgeous! Anyway, Thanks for bringing me here. Loved the experience. Tried to cheat and solve this using Google Earth, but Google have been lazy and didn't Street View this location [:(!] Forgot to print the xword out, too, but luckily the laptop was with us and the image was in GSAK. Solved quickly, then walked up (or down) the wrong path and wisely decided not to bush-bash to GZ. Found it in the end. TFTC. Some shocking typos on that sign .

Found today by Mr Emu & Demon Boy @ 10.15 a.m., GAFF1 http://wiki.geocaching.com.au/wiki/GAFF . After having driven here some months ago - and then realising we didn't have the clue sheet (!), it was nice to return on a cooler day to complete the puzzle. The walk was very pleasant at this time of the morning, with many different birds about. A few huge mossies too, but we quickly applied insect repellant and weren't bothered further. Demon Boy was very excited because we found a huge bone near the cache. Presumably a leg bone off some dinosaur, elephant or other gigantic creature. It took quite a while to convince him to leave it out of the car!
Thanks for the cache doobie doo3. It was an interesting little reserve we previously knew nothing about.

Taking the long way round to Queenscliff, we couldn't resist the crossword challenge. Everything seemed reasonably straight forward, filled in the squares and derived the coords (right checksum ) and headed for GZ. Messed around a bit and had to use the clue, but finally located while GPSr put us 5-6m off. TNLN. Thanks doobie doo3.

We found our 1st DoobieDoo3 cache at 2:35pm as the 16th of 33 on our Bellarine Blitz VI. Nice all round cache. Nice little puzzle, Nice spot. Nice clue. All nice. Thanks for the cache from D,H,H & A B-A.
Found by Geowife, with me, geokid and Spongeboy. We had a lovely walk looking for this one. Had to laugh at the signs saying to close the gate to keep tha rabbits out, We must have seen at least 10 of them! Spongeboy, Geokid and I wondered off searching for it only to have Geowife cry out "found it!" from 20 meters away! I think we were looking too hard! TFTC TNLN
No idea this place existed! I used to go to CRC before it migrated out to here!
Was a interesting walk in the dark and no match for Indiana08 who had the prize in hand a few minutes later.

Found this one after a few minutes of searching in the dark with PacketStorm4, I think his 100th find.
Thanks for the hide.

My auntie was telling me about this reserve a couple of weeks before this cache turned up, what a coincidence. I was keen to come and check it out today while in the area and was not disappointed. There were lots of flowers blossoming but the rain kept most of the birds quiet.
Great location!
Thanks,

This was one of those hidden reserves that only the locals seem to know about. After collecting the clues we made our way towards GZ where we met a teacher having his lunch break away from the screaming kids. Nice to have this place on your doorstep.
Thanks Doobie_Doo3

I found this one with feathertop. We drove in the back way to the reserve but after a short walk we were at the clue gathering site and were on our way. A lovely reserve that apparently is a haven for black snakes over summer according to a local we met, so be careful.
Thanks DoobieDoo3.
Thanks DoobieDoo3.
Found by Mary & David at 1210. Enjoyed the crossword, did the maths and set forth. Such a pretty little reserve with some wattle in flower. Unfortunately, the mosquitoes are still there in plague proportions too. Did our CITO duty on the way out. Dropped off "LC's Celebration of Honor Coin #048". Our thanks to doobie doo3.
Great little park, but you didn't want to stop moving as the mozzies were deadly! There was barely any water in the bottom, but obviously enough for a thriving mozzie population.
A nice little multi, but we decided not to stay for lunch
Thanks, Robmc.

Certainly is a nice little spot and a well kept secret too it seems. Fozzies are deadly though. Worked it it easily enough thankfully and the find soon made.
Thanks for bringing us here too.

Found at 11.10am GAFF3. A lovely out of the way reserve that we would never have found on our own. We had the the place all to ourselves, or so we thought until 4 dogs suddenly descended upon us and shook us up somewhat. Thanks doobie doo3 for finding this place.
Got to wp1 and was pleasantly surprised by the area. Sorted the puzzle OK and once at gz found two likely items but the most obvious revealed the prize. Thanks doobie doo 3. for putting a cache in this nice area.
Tried this one two days ago but could not get the check sum to work out as was the case today.Got very close by not using the 38 and 144 but the co-ords that I used Monday finally led us to a nice well hidden cache with swarms of mossies for company along with RedPaw64 who keep them off me while logging the find. Contacted VKC1SR & the owner last night with 1SR confirming our figures were right so back down today but the GPS had a problem with the cover for a while and then settled down.Removed Luvtocamp TB to move on shortly.NI-NO TFTC doobie doo3 the park is very dry will have to return after it rains!!! Nice spot.
Redpaw64 found this cache at 10.55am along with Bushfire. Bushfire had been here previously, so decided we would both go down today. After rechecking figures we found the cache pretty quick.
Mosquitos were really bad, Bushfire was swiping them from my head and missed the mosquitio and got my head a couple of times..

Found it at 1735. Another FTF !!! Had to do a bit of guess work as the sums didn't work for me. Will email Doobie Doo3.
What a great little reserve that I never knew about. The mozzies are killers.
