YAY - I found Monumental View late this afternoon. I arrived in Mallacoota with just enough daylight to attempt finding the cache. It's been a few years since I've visited Coota and I just stood on the Point and took in the view and, LOL Big Grin, by the time I'd got my thoughts together, I had to use the torch on my phone to read the plaque to find the required information. The needed info was quickly retrieved and the co-ords worked out. The cache was found easily but only thanks to the phone torch and long arms. AND - big bonus - the area was muggle free even though it's school holidays time. Thanks Katnat2 and dj for setting up and maintaining this one. (There are a few chew marks and little holes in the bottom of the container - the log is safe and dry though)

PS: The Troll Dolls [TN6TR0] were with me on my great caching adventures today.

14-Apr-23
Visit Mallacoota, they said. It'll be fun, they said. Well, we visited, and I can confirm it is a lovely place. Pleasant strolls along beaches were had and lots of photos taken. I thought I'd better find the only cache in Mallacoota proper while I was here. As it was a multi, muggle manzie elected to stay back at the motel (he refuses to do multis with me because I often calculate GZ incorrectly). No troubles this time though, I quickly calculated GZ and found the cache. Retrieving it was another story though. That took me quite some time—I was wishing I had longer arms, lol! I signed the wrong date too, realised after I had replaced the cache it was the 14th, not 13th, doh! Thanks for the cache.

**Monumental View by Katnat2 djcache**

We were unable to attend the 2023 Mega being held in Rutherglen, so we are caching as we travel to the south coast of NSW. This one was targeted as we needed to get a cache for the Victorian Road Atlas challenge (map 34) & LGA challenge caches. So glad we did, as Mallacoota is such a lovely spot. Found without any trouble.

Thanks to Katnat2 for placing and maintaining this easy but educational multi. Cache on

**The Cache:** Good condition. TNLN, signed log as LTEC or Let Them Eat Cache as space would allow. Replaced and added some natural camo.

I had a few choices on what to do and where to go for this long weekend so after a fair bit of deliberation I chose Eastern Victoria.
I headed this way so I could finally finish off the UBD challenge that I started a while ago so I made Cann River last night
This was going to be a very whirlwind tour as I was just picking up the required caches that I needed to finish it off passing a lot of other caches along the way.
Well that was 2 maps down yesterday so today was going to be a quick in and out visit to Mallacoota.
A very foggy drive in this morning and at this time of the morning most people still seamed to be in bed.
Plenty of people camping in the campground but no body was around to bother me while I did the calculations and also while I found the final.

Thanks Katnat2 & djcache TFTC.

07-Mar-23
3rd times the charm on this one.
First two attempts I was using an App giving me some dodgy coordinates, then discovered that this app has a compass setting that shows you GPS coordinates.
Found it within 5 minutes after that.
Classic hiding spot. First multi cache for me!

24-Feb-23
Bunadoorian came here after we had finished our fish and chips for lunch. We gathered the information quickly and the calculations done. We then had a short stroll to GZ. Thanks to vegetation near by we were able to retrieve the cache with out being seen. We couldn't get over how many people were camping in this caravan park at the end of Feb. TFTC and for bringing us here Katnat2 djcache.

24-Feb-23
Grub62 and I arrived at the first way point and the information was quickly gathered and calculated. There was a couple of muggles having lunch near GZ but due to the vegetation they couldn't see what we were up to. A quick search, find and signing and we were out of there leaving the muggles none the wiser. TFTC.

Nice easy find while checking out the area tftc

20-Jan-23
Catching up on some late logs that were found while on a trip.

Stopped off here to make this find while staying nearby. Loved the view.

Plenty of campers but it was an easy enough retrieve, once at GZ. Took TB.

Thanks for placing this cache and doing the maintenance for us to find.

18-Jan-23
Quickly worked out the coordinates and after some searching high and low we found the cache. TFTC

17-Nov-22
We ‘popped’ into Mallacoota for a break from driving and, as usual, had a look to see what caches were around. This one piqued our interest, so here we are.

With our numbers collected and new coordinates sorted we were soon on our way to GZ. The cache was found quickly thanks to good coords. All in good condition here. Log signed.

Finding your cache today added more enjoyment to our visit to Mallacoota. Without it we doubt we’d have spotted this monument.

Thank you.

17-Nov-22
Staying in Mallacoota with our caravan club chums, this cache was very close to the camping ground. We found the plaque and sorted out the coordinates. The cache was found soon after. I left a TB for the next finder to move on.

16-Nov-22
Found this cache on our East Coast Trip Day 4 in company of Bazzars. A second cache on our first ever visit to Mallacoota. Thanks from D B-A

15-Nov-22
Currently holidaying in Lakes Entrance and today being a little better weather, we took a road trip to Mallacoota. What a great little spot. We accidently stumbled on GZ when we were checking out the area, so then had to complete the cache. After working out the correct coordinates it wasn't long before we had the cache in hand. The area was virtually deserted today so had no problems with Muggles at all. After finding the cache we then had lunch on the nearby picnic table. TFTC. TNLN.

Arrived in Mallacoota the night before the find, and after settling in to the hotel we went for a walk to orientate ourselves. Quite cool, and the wife was unprepared for an extended amble, so decided to jot down the relevant numbers and calculate the final in the warmth of the hotel room before we headed out to dinner. The plaque provided interesting and somber reading.
The numbers came together easily and in the morning we retraced a few familiar steps to get to the cache hide. The container was spotted and log book was signed. Fortunately for us we happened across a trackable and a path tag within the cache.
All was replaced and we were on our way. Thanks very much Katnat2 djcache for a simple multi with a great final hide. Cheers.

Google maps wanted me to plunge down the cliff. Luckily that was not the case. Found once I opened my eyes. First Find in Victoria.

27-Apr-22
Have holidayed about 25 times in my life in Mallacoota mainly while growing up. This trip had planned on a walk to cape Howe past tullerbergq but the mouth was open and damaged my car trying to get around to lake view. So that will be another year.
We knew the Brady family from our time here.
Cache was quickly found and added some trackables. Tn Tftc favourite.

26-Apr-22
Stopped in Mallacoota for lunch and to help the economy after the 2019 bushfires.
This cache was nearby but my first attempt had the final out on the sand flats. Recalculating soon for my error and I had a more likely position. Thanks for the cache quick find in the end.

Day 2 of the Bring In The New Year (BITNY) road-trip. After camping in at woods point for the evening it’s a day of UBD and LGA smashing. Finally time to tick off the south east of Victoria with a journey out to Mallacoota and surrounds.

A nice quick multi while a family were hiding presents in a tree near to the plaque. A quick wander and we were soon signing the log.

Thanks katnat2 for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

Could not locate

21-Nov-21
Collected the numbers and worked the coords yesterday but failed to find the cache. Found it today after a little encouragement from the last finder, about 5m from the coords (which were double checked).
Log sheets were damp again so replaced them with a new book, complete with the Geocaching explanation for accidental muggle finders, inside a ziplock bag. Yep, we are old fashioned geocachers!
What a great spot and such a wonderfully informative page of history, both factors require a Favourite from us. Very many thanks, Katner2 & djcache, for getting us back intoi t after two years away.

21-Nov-21
Thankyou Yetarewethere & Dicksontwo for your logs and taking care of the cache.
I can't get there till Christmas so will get my local to check and see if the container needs replacing to keep moisture out.
Double thanks for the fav =)

All back in place. It was the same day but I missed posting the update.

Cheers Yetarewethere

A great location and so historic - thanks for bringing me here.

A note on the day: a magnificent spring day after a few days of wet and windy weather. I have removed the cache to dry out. Will include a note when put it back.

It's a monumental view in more ways than one!
It's been a great 5 days in Mallacoota but it's time to bug out and head for Omeo for a few days. Being only about 100 meters from our caravan, this was the first I looked at, I decoded the clues and kept it in reserve for this morning. A quick find and log this morning, now it's time to break camp and run.
Thanks Mallacoota for the sights and the caches.
**Thanks for placing this cache katnat2**

Here at Coota for a well overdue family holiday. Completed the co-ordinates earlier today but with cranky little children and lots of holidY makers around we decided to wait until dark to look for the cache. After we got the little children to sleep we left the babysitter to watch over them while we found the cache. The find wasn't too hard, and we sat at a nearby point to watch the dozens of people out prawning in the water. TFTC Smile

02-Jan-21
We were here for New Years and I checked out many of the caches to find most of them has perished in the fires. ;(

This one was found and my 9 year old came for the adventure. I made her read the plaque and answer all the questions. I then showed her how to work out where the next stop was.

Despite the area being surrounded by muggles, we managed to sign the log without anyone thinking we were weirdos haha

What a lovely multicache! Always interesting to learn about the history of the places you visit. Thankfully also this cache is doing well, as we missed one of the ones currently accessible yesterday, when the phone networks went down, and really wanted to have a smiley in this corner of the country. TFTC!

I must be the only one who has found this cache during the summer peak holidays without a single muggle to be seen in the area.....and possible the entire town. You see, the campsites are abandoned of people but many belongings remain (still set up in many cases)as they fled the fire that ravaged this beautiful town only a few days ago, leaving it sadly blackened. Kelly is here in a management role for the fire response to protect the town and ensure the remaining residence are safe. The morning before her flight out after a demanding weeks work she had an hour to spare and decided some cache welfare checks were required. We are happy to say this cache and monument are in good condition in an unburnt area and the cache is safe. There is plenty of space in the logbook and it is ready to be found when tourists are allowed to return to the town.

Great views. H423L did all the homework here.

Found on another epic caching loop with H423L which included the St Arnaud mega and many other magnificent Australian locations.

Thanks Katnat2 djcache and clear skies from TeamAstro. ️ Cache the planet!

21-Nov-19
It finally clicked and I started using the correct numbers to calculate GZ. A short walk and the cache was in hand. TFTC

29-Oct-19
Read the monument details and worked out the required coords before doing the short walk to nab the cache.

27-Oct-19
Found this cache with goingplaces2. It was an easy enough hide to locate. The numbers worked out well. Both names were added to the log and we were soon on the road again to continue the search for today. TFTC.

27-Oct-19
This afternoon was spent out on a cache hunt with ilook4geo as we continued our travel south. This was a very quick and easy find with the new co-ords being spot on and the signing duties were soon done. All was then put back into place before we moved on again. Thanks go to Katnat2 djcache for placing this cache, with it being a nice offset multi.

19-Oct-19
Tricky one to find. But that makes it more fun. Had us stumped!!

16-Oct-19
Dark was falling and initially I thought I might have to do more detective work than I later realised was necessary. Quick find after gathering the info. TFTC.

#5536 33rd for today

Day two of my impromptu trip down the far south coast of NSW. My original intention was to visit Gippsland if I had time, but I thought it unlikely for a 1 night stay. Today I awoke to discover a whole new power trail of over 100 caches had been published. Now I am not a FTF chaser, but here I was in poll position with any competition very far behind. So I thought, why not grab a few. I had no intention of grabbing them all, I do have places I need to be after all. I loaded up the new caches in my GPSr and hit the road. Breakfast would have to wait. I still managed to stop in at some, but not all of my original targets a found time for a really good, but late breakfast in Eden. I visited many beautiful places today and discovered some amazing caches, particularly the new VB power trail caches. Green-eyed monster was probably my favorite, and one of the last of that trail I found. I will assemble a group for a road trip to complete this trail outside of the fire-season.

I can't say I had my caching goggles on today, there were quite a few misses, particularly later in the day.

A fantastic first view of the area. Gathered the data and made the short walk to gz. All. good.

Thanks katnat2

I have enjoyed finding this cache despite the fact that i had to get up at 7am and do the washing up before geo hubby would let me go look. I don’t call him grumpynutcache for nothing. TFTC and for replacing it so promptly.

14-Sep-19
Muggled =(
Will be replaced ASAP

11-Jul-19
Alas not our day today. Our calculated coords had us in a likely place but not cache to be found. Ah well, thats how the game goes sometimes. However the views here were magnificent and totally worth visiting just for this. Thank you for showing us this place djcache

23-May-19
Searched high low and everywhere else spanned out a 50 odd meter circle from coordinants and still no find, me thinks this has been muggled! Lots of trees down and rubbish in the undergrowth Around what should be the gz!

25-Apr-19
Heading north-east with PacGirl on a Easter roadtrip, we had no real target other than walking up Mt Kosciusko on the way to wherever we were going. I love these unplanned roadtrips where there isn't much of an agenda!
By this stage we had hiked around the top of Mt Kosciusko, made an impromptu visit to the Queanbeyan Mega, travelled down the NSW coast and were finally making our way home west along the Victorian coast.

I've seen a lot of Australia, but this corner is one area I had not been to before. Obviously a detour was called for to visit Mallacoota for the first time.

The Views from GZ were great, the failure to find the cache Monumental. So we viewed the monuments but not the cache.

30-Jan-19
Found after a huge storm that has cut all power in town. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Swiss cachers.

26-Jan-19
Staying in the nearby caravan park with our new ezytrail camper. Spotted the nearby multi cache and knew what I needed to do this morning. Wow. Another wreck on this coast. Thanks for the find. Cache in good condition and views great as expected.

19-Jan-19
I feel like a novice- although my cords were correct my app took me the hard way twice over! Lol! Eventually found this one- got all Mallacoota caches in one day- I was last here 20 years ago- can’t believe how much this town has changed!!!

13-Jan-19
Nice easy multi, beautiful view from here.
Our 1st cache at Mallacoota, and first after a 8 year break. TFTC

06-Jan-19
Whilst sitting at a park bench, eating a pie from the bakery, near a certain monument, I decided to take the time and see if I could work out the coordinates. My calculations put me about 50 meter away so the search was on. Thanks for placing this cache and sharing some more history of this great area.

29-Dec-18
Another day on our move to Sydney had us stay in Mallacoota. After putting the little one to bed i ventured out for a quick explore and to grab a cache. This one sounded interesting for some views. The views definitely didn’t disappoint but having to share it with3000 other holiday makers was interesting!! TFTC

Owner check - geocoins etc have already been picked up

20-Dec-18
It’s our last night in Mallacoota and we went for a walk on the Foreshore. There weren’t many people around, so we could duck in and get the info and the cache without being spotted. TFTC djcache
