This cache has become too difficult for me to maintain from all of the way down here in Dunedin.Sad I no longer take the ferry to Wellington. I fly, it's cheaper and easier. I have arranged to have the cache collected by rediguana sometime within the next few months, and maybe as soon as within two weeks. This is your last chance to find it if you want to. When it has gone, I'll archive it. That will give others a chance to place their own caches in the area. Cheers, Donovan.Smile

Now this is cool Cool.
Not only are there some awesome 4x4 tracks, but there's trout and plenty of furry things called possums to track down.

I tend to agree with the Sallies, and that it leads you to the raspberry bushs. Not plesant, but well worth persuing.

- Magnifier
+ fridge magnet / game

Thanks for all the fun!

Came home via the inland route so that we could find this cache. It is no trouble to find if you follow the directions but blackberries everywhere if you just follow your GPS. We left a pencil and sharpener to replace the defunct pen.
+ table tennis ball - golf ball
Thanks for this cache - it really was the last one of our "caching holiday"

We were up in Kaikoura so decided to take the inland route back to Christchurch and give the Conway River cache a late Xmas present. We rebagged all the cache items and double bagged the log book and the stash note and put everything into a new 3l Klip-IT container. Whoever is next to visit the cache, could you bring a new stash note (as the one in it is going moldy) and a replacement pen (as the one in the cache does not work, and we did not have one)
Cheers

I only print out page-friendly cache pages so not aware of Steve and Ruth's folly I also headed off down the wrong track before it became obvious that the cache was above me. Unfortunately the cache was found with about 2cms of water in it. I emptied and unbagged everything then dried the container and the stash objects. The logbook had faired a little better and was only damp. I rebagged that with a new bag. Took nothing. Left nothing.

There were sharp teeth/claw marks evident on the container.

Great day for a scenic drive from Hanmer Springs to Kaikoura.

Beautiful spot. Originally went down wrong road and ended up climbing the hill. Found it after about 10 minutes searching. It is still pretty damp, pens don't work. Logged our visit but didn't trade anything.
Thanks Ruth & Steve Smile

Found both the flag and and the cache Smile We could not believe that the GPS read 0.0m when we were right on the cache - I have not seen that before. Now the down side - the cache was not very happy, Gavins note about a few mm of water has got worse... we found about 1-2cm of water, and everything was waterlogged (for some reason most of the plastic bags had holes in them) we rebaged everything and emptied the water out. We could not fill in the log book as we did not have a pencil, and the book was wet Sad. We added a smiley magnet and a ladybird, and removed the rusty can. Left the cache upside down in the hope that any water that got in the future would drain out.
Cheers

Those darn cheap tupperware containers. Sad Thanks guys. On the good side, at least my newer snap-lock containers are holding up well (except when they have rocks dropped on them, that is Wink). Cheers, Donovan.

Mental note to self: Replace the container next time I am up there. Cheers, Donovan.

Called in whilst driving past today. The cache was there, and a little waterlogged - there was a few mm's of water in the bottom of the container. It appears that the lid is slightly warped and has allowed water in. There was water in the plug, and one other item. Everything else was dry and OK. Drained the container and tidied it up a little, and put it back in place. Cheers Gav.

I have just moved some of the detail in the cache report to the hints section along with adding some photos. Cheers, Donovan.

Didn't see the red flag at all, but after wandering around for a few minutes saw the white container on the ground under the bush. Was in good condition. + Golf ball and candle - NZ$2 recalled coin. Nice drive through to Waiau today, not much traffic on the road. Got me thinking about another road nearby for a cache ... hehe Smile Cheers Gav [7]

Thanks hunter1nz! I appreciate you looking in on my stash. BTW, thanks for fixing it up last time too (if you didn't get my e-mail). Bummer about your Acheron stash getting trashed, but it's a great location so I hope you will soon get time place another nearby.

Thanks,
Donovan.Smile

Hi Donovan,
Found the Conway cache.I was looking in the blackberry. But found it under the small broom bush.It had been trashed & was scattered about. But on closer inspection found that everything was still in its sealed bags.I could see where a Possum had done a number on the lid & got it open. The bag containing the mustard leaf was nibbled. But the tin was unopened!
I took the Japanese coins & left 5xphonecards,a$1 instant kiwi(chance to win there)
,& a nz$2coin the recalled one.
Re-assembled everything & left in original position.
Was it the mustard leaf the possum was after or is that your old lunchbox.
Cheers for now hunter1nz

Hi Donovan.
I'm going to go looking for this cache in the near future. When I'm in Kaikoura next week I hope to travel up that way.I've got a cache ready to go into Kaikoura somewhere as well.
This is alot of fun I hope more people get into it.I'm going to have at least 4 caches.I live in Culverden so I'll have one there and maybe one up the Lewis pass...I'm coming to Dunedin in March so
I hope to have time to look for some of your other ones down there.
cheers for now hunter1nz
