Tried all the tricks we knew, but didnt come up with it

Satisfaction! With this one being unfound so far in 2024 I knew it would take time and persistence. Another great local cache, alive and well. Glad to cross this one off the list. Thanks for bringing us to the old and new train bridges - had a new train cross overhead while searching! Good luck.

31-Jul-24
This is a completely useless log, no maintenance has been performed as there was no maintenance required. My previous log clearly stated that the cache was indeed alive and well. Just because people can't find this geocache does not mean that it is missing.

19-Jul-24
Checked cache and it is alive and well.

Here officially adding my name to the DNF list. Judging by a few of the logs, maybe I'm just not seeing it, but it's there still. Spent about an hour looking for it whilst taking a break from visiting children and grandies. Said I was just taking a nature and art break and wasted the whole time here. Haha. No one to blame but myself. Haha

This one has us beat for today tftc

I'm sure it's there but we're not good enough to find this very tricky one from the CO. It's not the first time he has had us confused this weekend.

09-Nov-23
What a great hide, it really had us searching for quite a while.A favourite from us.On a short trip to the Tumut and Wagga areas as we visit family and friends, but of course some time to pick up a few caches on our travels.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Fred6603.**SKI Pair****

Today we explored Wagga Wagga and surrounds using geocaching as a guide. We enjoyed travelling through the countryside and visiting new, to us, locations. We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty. This was a vert tricky cache to find, we liked the work gone into this hide and adding to our favourites. A well thought out cache hide!!!!Many thanks to all CO's for your cache placement.

07-Oct-23
Found on a fine sunny day for a drive. No muggles here today. We had some trouble initially but it was located eventually and is now safely back in it's correct place. A very good hide indeed. Thanks Fred.

07-Oct-23
Well we tried for 30 minutes. Well hidden.

22-Aug-23
Found with lananotgreen. In Wagga for some family time, staying close enough nearby to come and see what all the favourites are about. Worth the visit. We happened on this cache quite quickly, a combination of accurate GPS and sheer luck. Could have been here all day, such a clever (sneaky!) hide. Thanks for bringing us here. TFTC

14-May-23
Picked up some rubbish and saw a train but this cache eluded us for now - given activity sure it is there somewhere for next time once we have better spidey senses!

14-May-23
Checked cache and it is alive and well.

23-Sep-22
No go. Thought I’d checked everywhere it should be but couldn’t see/feel it.

23-Sep-22
Came back with reinforcements and she found it straight away. Bloody hell. TFTC and SL 12:05pm.

04-Sep-22
This one was too clever for us today, but we will be back.

17-Aug-22
Found it. Took a team of 3 but awesome sneaky hide! TFTC!

15-Aug-22
Really did have what I thought was a hard look… Floodwater may have had an impact, but much more likely it was under my nose the whole time and I’ll forehead slap when I have a better look and eventually get it!

31-Jul-22
This cache has been checked since the latest DNF and is alive and well. A few DNFs does not necessarily mean that it is missing. Novices can have great difficulty in finding this cache.

31-Jul-22
Cache is there.

30-Jul-22
Hi Fred6603,

The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 28 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.

If you require more time please be sure to **post a note** (not an email) explaining the situation and how much more time you require. For ongoing issues please ensure you visit the listing and post a new note every 28 days to keep everyone up to date, if you do not then you cache may be archived without further note from a reviewer. Caches archived due to lack of maintenance are no longer unarchived and you will need to submit a replacement as a new cache.

Inspired by finally finding this and approaching a big milestone (5000!) we decided to make a concerted effort to find lots of roadside caches on the way home to Sydney and log this out of order (a bit naughty but worth being listed in our milestones). So here it is, Cache Number 5000 found since we started in May 2009. Thank you, Fred6603. Well done! SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek

23-Apr-21
We are returning home to Sydney after a windmill quest to Adelaide. We stopped here in April 2014 and failed to find it and then repeated history last week on our way through. We actually were doing the right thing to find it but Mrs Gaztek got sloppy. If you’re going to do a methodical search you have to be meticulous and she wasn’t. Never mind, we had a nudge from the CO and began a scrupulous search. Success! But we can’t totally blame carelessness for our previous DNFs. This is a brilliant but simple design almost impossible to spot without some contortion and almost impossible to feel. In our geocaching books, there are two Historical Engineering items here. A definite favourite for us. We are very close to our 5000th find and would like this one to be that milestone. So we’ll log a note now and our Found log before long. SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek

16-Apr-21
Travelling from Sydney to Adelaide on the hunt for Great Aussie Icons. Two days short of seven years ago we failed to find this well hidden geocache. Despite seven extra years of experience, it appears nothing has changed. We tried to poke, prod, twist, feel, stare at everything we could think of - all to no avail. Will keep thinking and eventually return. We did notice that the vegetation around the structure at GZ is much reduced compared to our last visit and the levee now has a metal barrier added to it. Also nice to see the good walkway along here. Cheers... Gaztek

No luck today

01-Jan-21
If you’re having trouble with the gps like adventure-f0x and I were change your maps to satellite and it will start you pretty close, after viewing previous logs and finding a phot it then put us smack bang on gz (after 20 mins of searching of course)

20 for today

After our original new year's plans got cancelled, we randomly decided to come down to Wagga instead as BarberBlackSheep and I have never been here.

After an adventurous day out at Junee and around back here in town we decided to grab a couple more before retreating to the hotel. Wow, we were so close to giving up when BBS and I tried from another angle we previously checked but not thoroughly enough, there you are! Incredibly sneaky and frustrating. Unable to sign log as it is falling apart! Left a smile face in purple pen.

Happy new year!

Total finds for today: 24
+ The TBs that came along for a visit!

Found it!!

We chose a bad time to hang out near the river the mozzies were eating us alive lol

The log needs replacing due to it crumbling apart.

A great hide!

A lovely area to walk through. We decided to take our son to train watch at the same time. Unfortunately some grot has taken a dump pretty much on the gps site so we removed ourselves and left our search. Excited for the train though!!!

Good place for a site to see of part of the history of wagga wagga

26-Oct-19
So very clever. I too have been here looking for this baby on one other occasion. I didn't feel confident on finding it as my caching partner Ozreg is not here in Wagga with me. So l am so pleased to have a smiley face on this one. Gave it a favorite

14-Oct-19
Today brought us into the thriving metropolis of Wagga and along the way we decided that the need for a find was greater than the construction in the area today so after making an interesting way into GZ we eventually found the well concealed and placed cache. This was one that had eluded me many years ago and it was only luck and determination that I was able to add it to the collection of found caches today.

Thanks Fred6603 for a great hide and bring us here to show both history and an interesting area.

26-Aug-19
Thanks Wagga on my way to Melbourne just stay here a couple of nights

11-Aug-19
Geocaching the night away while waiting for our train. TFTC.

We are two very happy cachers. Many years ago we tried for this one with no luck. Today with very little time on our hands we needed one cache to keep our streak going. This was close to the shops so we said let's just do that one. Turned into the road to park and the memory came flooding back. Our hearts sank, not only was this unlikely to be quick, it was most likely going to be a dnf based on our last visit. Well to our surprise maybe the additional years of caching have taught us something because we zoned in and then with abit of head scratching we had the little beauty in hand. Smiles all round for a fabulous hide. Fav point for sure. Tftc

29-Apr-19
We had a good search around but no luck at all here today.
Thanks

14-Apr-19
A bit tricky but I found it, thanks for the cache.

In town for a wedding (and some Geocaching - of course!) An interesting structure! TFTC.

We have attempted this one over several years of visits to Wagga previously with no success. Two day while out on our bikes waiting for our car to be serviced we happen to be cycling past and decided to have another attempt. Obviously today was our day and finally we can say we have found this one thanks

19-Feb-19
Found with nissan 65 on a few days off work so we decided to get away and do some caching. So dry out here. Thanku for the cache fav point for sneekiness

19-Feb-19
Found with cullum 68 on a few days away in Wagga Wagga thanks for the cache took a while but heard it rattle

18-Jan-19
This was a tricky hide, but somehow Dad found it really quick. TFTC

17-Jan-19
Wow... Nice hide. Was a bit concerned seeing how many DNF's there has been. Seems a lot find this 2nd time around. I wasn't going to have that opportunity. This was only a short stopover in Wagga. It was now or never. Surprisingly had it found in under 10mins. Not sure if I call it a fluke or I just had my caching eyes on today. FP from me. TFTC

25-Dec-18
I decided to pick this one up next as I figured I could park quite close to it, and it also seemed to be in a relatively shady spot which was a must in the 37 degree heat!

I got to GZ and was very thankful that there was a fence around the object! There could of been an even nastier hide inside the fence you you could go in....

Took me about 10 minutes to find this despite the limited options and having a good idea of what it might involve. I was pleasantly surprised when I managed to locate it and it was better than I was expecting! A cunning hide indeed and no wonder it has stumped so many!

Thanks Fred6603, I will give this one another FP

16-Dec-18
No luck today

18-Aug-18
Perseverance paid off with this fiendish hide today. We could use a few unsavoury words, but suffice to say it gets a favourite point. SL at 5.30pm #5569 Happy with the result, which made up for the DNF@ the next one along this path! TFTC Fred6603

24-Jun-18
Looked high and low, all around where we thought it would be, couldn't find a thing.

21-Jun-18
Found it!! Tough find this one! Turns out we’d focused on the wrong side of where we needed to be. Signed and replaced. Another cool Fred6603 find completed.

16-Jun-18
So nice to change my 2016 Sad to Smile.
I searched this very carefully. It must have taken me at least ten minutes, when my search method had me spot something that made me look closer. Very, very sneaky. As a previous finder wrote, "A dastardly hide." Twisted. Well constructed. A favourite point. TFTC Fred6603.

14-Jun-18
Admittedly looking in fading light. Grabbed out a torch but then some unwelcome visitors started coming through the area. Not a place to be after dark so we retreated to the safety of our GeoVehicle and headed home defeated.

05-May-18
I can now turn that frown upside down. Yippee I found it right where it always was, right where I looked last time, right where my finger got damaged. Yes I know, I will look better next time. T4TC guys.

30-Apr-18
TFTC. We had checked out this location yesterday and thought we had checked everywhere. The CO kindly gave us a hint. This morning the geo-vehicle was getting new tyres at a nearby tyre establishment. With time to kill we went back to GZ and had another look. Bingo. A dastardly hide. Thanks Fred6603.

15-Apr-18
We thought a cache before brekky today was a good idea and came down to look for this one. With four of us looking it still took a while. We looked high and low and AngelG27 made the find in the end. Very cool cache! Thanks

Cache 3675 on 15 Apr 2018

Back in Wagga for another weekend of caching - this time with Kittykatch, Joolay and DarkSideDan. A couple of the power trails in our sights, but a few others besides!

Unless otherwise indicated, caches found and in good order. This one took a longer search - of course! But with some care and attention, we managed to flush this one out of its hiding spot. Another Favourite of mine!

Thanks Fred6603 for the cache and the fun!

15-Apr-18
Very clever indeed. Looked for quite awhile. Just needed to look more carefully. Found with Kittykatch, AngelG27 and Darksidedan on a caching weekend to Wagga. Been a great day and loved seeing a different part of the country. Thanks for bringing us here

15-Apr-18
First find of the day took ages to find maybe 20min but its there signed dsd

T4TC - What a tricky find, had gone back to try again in more light and had cache in hand within 5 minutes.
Found with kriddynsash09.

06-Apr-18
Went out looking today, this one we could not a find. Out with Angusnmumysadventure we had 3 sets of eyes and hands looking and still could not find so asked for hints still no find. Grrrrrr will try again tomorrow

This One eluded myself and Lildonnasadventure tonight even with a clue from CO. Will head back again tomorrow with a fresh mind.

I was coming over to Wagga Wagga today for the Queen's Baton Relay change over to continue the run towards Queensland. It just so happened that there was a Geocaching event on too. After all the excitement of the Queen's Baton Relay, I went to do some shopping and have some lunch. It still wasn’t time to meet up at the event so I headed off for some pre-caching. After the event I went and did some post-caching before heading home. Thanks to all the owners of the caches I found and for the fun I had today. Smile

After finding the nearby GCA cache I thought I would give this one another try seeing how it has been on the DNF list for quite sometime now. I knew where it had to be but I couldn't see it before. This time I used the same technique but with longer looking time in each area. Soon afterwards I had the cache in hand. Another FP for Fred6603. TFTC and the long awaited Sad to be turned into a Smile.

14-Jan-18
Full fence search and beyond.

09-Jan-18
Shame wanted to see what all the fav points were about. Visiting from Perth and always go to a high fav count when out travelling. It's not for the views so must be an awesome cache, shame geo wife ran out of patients. We are here another day so if I find time will have another go Smile if the co is feeling kind I'd love a hint

29-Dec-17
Found it! Found with dpianta. We were in the area, and decided to grab a cache while we were there. Half an hour later, and dpianta finally noticed something odd and soon had the cache in hand (mere seconds after I’d messaged a friend for a hint). It seemed so obvious after we put it back... Tftc.

27-Aug-17
With a relatively free weekend at last a plan was hatched with Rapidlywild to go and collect some unfinished multi and solved puzzles along with some new caches in Wagga Wagga.

It was a rather eventful weekend with a close encounter of the brown slithery kind, not a very happy either as I think we woke it from its winter slumber, friendly cows, good and not so good weather and the opportunity for the inner monkey to show itself again on a few occasions.

After a good nights sleep it was time to search for some more caches.
This one took a bit of searching until the cache was eventually found. Very sneaky.

TFTC Fred6603 and thanks for a fun weekend Rapidlywild.

27-Aug-17
FurfacesLL and myself had decided on a trip away for some much earned stress relieving geocaching. We had planned on doing a day trip across to Wagga Wagga however once we had a look at how many caches we had left to find, changed our plans to an overnighter instead.

We had a large number of multi's to collect that we had picked up GZ information from on prior trips and we had some solved puzzles to collect that we had solved. A nice range of caches across the weekend, did alot of in field maintenance work for CO's by adding new clean/dry/crisp logs to containers in new zip lock bags just to help out.

A great weekend had by us both with a mix of caches, mix of weather and an extremely close brown snake encounter (too close for comfort).

Thanks heaps to FurfacesLL for another awesome weekend away, and thanks Fred6603 for the cache placement Cool[^]Big Grin This was another Wagga nemesis and after a bit of searching, we had our hands on it... brilliant !

Great hide found with a little clue from Fred6603.TFTC

12-Mar-17
Had a good look with the geo grandma and geo kids. No luck.

07-Sep-16
I gave this a good search. I checked out top and bottom of each fence post along two sides, feeling inside; I felt along the fence and even extended my search. No luck for me.

24-Apr-16
Didn't get it this time but there were quite a few joggers and lost the light. Will try again.

17-Apr-16
I eventually made this find in the company of the CO, as I had been out and about early and spent quite some time here, prior to the CITO. The GPS kept jumping about, so after poking, peering and cursing, had to give up or miss the event. With a hint the sneaky cache was found. Worth a fav.
Thanks Fred6603 for hint and a great hide.

19-Mar-16
It was great to turn this into a smiley. Thanks to the CO for giving us another hint Smile

19-Mar-16
Our first find of the day. Very very sneaky, love it!

Armed with another hint from the CO, we tackled this today and found quickly. I put my hands on it first. Very well camouflaged Fred6603! TFTC

Found on the 21st January with farmer--brown, but forgot to log it until now! We'd all but given up, then I spotted something a little strange, but very well hidden! TFTC!

23-Jan-16
A great hide Fred6603 - Out riding with KAT & Bushtrakkers and just knew I would need more eyes to search for your caches - Log signed and replaced exactly where we found it - but I'm not sure if this was its original place as the GPS was about 3 or 4 metres out from this TFTC

23-Jan-16
Interesting piece of history we didn't know about. Arrived at GZ with KAT and BAB and instantly thought there is so many possibilities, and knowing Fred's ingenuity we could be here for awhile, but for once luck was on our side and we had the cache in hand within a few minutes. TFTC

21-Jan-16
We were a little discouraged by the number of unfounded logs, but hayleyisanaeroplane was determined to find this one. And find it she did, right where I had already looked too! Happy to have this one in the bag. Tftc!

06-Jan-16
4636. I found myself here looking at the Historic Engineering Marker and then realised that this was here too. The only problem was, I didn't know exactly where!!!! After what I thought was a thorough search and reading the previous logs, I sort the help of the CO. So with some great help, I soon had my hands on this one. I was positive I investigated that particular spot, but obviously not well enough. So I really only saved the CO from a maintenance run. It is definitely here!!!!! Just plain evil!!!! But worthy of a favorite!
Thanks Fred6603 for the cache and the much needed help.

07-Nov-15
Nothing could be seen

07-Nov-15
Spent a lot of time looking for this cache but no success today

25-Oct-15
No luck here despite extensive searching by Strangetrousers and myself for about 15 minutes in the searing heat! Not easy to search discretely with cyclists whizzing past Smile

Today B737 & I made a return trip to Wagga Wagga as we notice the RGGT trail had been maintained. I was behind the wheel this time with B737 as navigator. Jetfusalage stayed at home manning the playstation. We'd missed about 9 of the series last time & were keen to complete it. Today it was quite a bit warmer than our last trip & it was interesting to see how the scene had changed. This time it was much drier and we had our first experience of grass seeds in the socks for the summer. We really like Wagga Wagga. It's clearly a prosperous country centre with heaps of caches. But it's quite hard to plan a route around an unfamiliar town. We had a knack of seeking all the most difficult or missing caches and spending way too much time looking for them. We'll just have to come back I guess.

We came, we looked, but came up empty handed. This one was way too good for us today. It was also hot & the flys were pretty bad too.

Thanks anyway Fred6603
