Found! A very easy find for me today. I didn't realise this cache was disabled. Its been awhile since the CO said anything about fixing it. Had a tonne of water in it & about 6 log books which were all wet bar the one I signed which was damp.
I enjoyed this 21.9km trail ride from Scarsdale to Ballarat. Wet to start with & a slight breeze along the way. For the trail I found 54/55 in 4hrs 13mins. A great scenic ride & plenty of animals along the way. Thanks to all the CO's for the placement & maybe some room for more...

Today we wanted to complete the BRST trail, then continue into town & found a few caches around Lake Wendouree.
The weather was mild with a strong breeze into our face.
Found this while on the RT left a note with our name on it.
Thanks for placing this cache fozzy778

Did this one while having an enjoyable walk along the rail trail.
Unfortunately too wet to continue the story.
Took nothing, left nothing as the cache is going to be re-located.
SL Thanks for the cache fozzy778 & Chati.

I must apologise to all who have found this cache in poor disrepair.
I am going to move this to a location nearer to me and I will have a sturdier containor
Keep your eyes posted for the rerelease

I tried to dry things out the best I could, but I really couldn't afford to spend too much time here. The logs are wet (I had no spares today) and the container has some damage which allows the ingress of water.

Boxing Day - I could have spent it fighting the aggressive crowds at the Boxing Day sales purchasing rubbish I didn't need, or I could spend it caching. Hmmmm, is there even a decision in this?
With the bike at the ready and a beautiful morning it would be a pleasant day to do the Ballarat Skipton Rail Trail. I've wanted to ride this trail for ages, and today it would be!
I found this cache easy enough, however the container is a little cracked around the edges and there has been an ingress of water. I managed to sign a wet log with some TLC, however no lines were added to the story from me today.

Find #13 of 62 today.
What a great geocaching day in the Ballarat region!
The main aim was to do all the caches along the BSRT rail trail. The end result after 200km by car and 50km by bike was 900 photos and 62 caches.
Of these 62, 57 caches were along the rail trail which included all 54 currently in the BSRT series. There were 3 or 4 DNF close calls, but in the end it was a 100% find-strike-rate!
I had the glorious BSRT all to myself, with no muggle encounters whatsoever.
I divided the trail into 4 sections, where at each section I would park the car, cache out along the trail and then cycle back to the car.
This cache was part of the first section of 17.
A little wander around before I found this cache. Unfortunately I couldn't add my bit to the story as the log was soaked due to a cracked container lid. I covered it up with rocks again....
Thanks for the cache, fozzy778 and Chati.

In the area for a well deserved break from the busy life of Melbourne, spotted this one and had to grab it. The container has seen better days and the logs are soaked and mouldy. Signed the plastic bag instead. TFTC!!
Was not very impressed with the state of this one. The logs were totally water logged or mouldy. The container was not very stable. Log book needs attention.
Friday, October 11 , starting at 10am for BSRT series (that comment will be copied and pasted on all caches)
Here I am off to a good day biking, picnic is put into the backpack and forward!
The series is really easy , accessible to everyone. It's really nice to find fine jewelry , many small and medium . There are only a few micro I enjoy myself on this bike path, and I even crossed Geocachers " Vernzed !" very good meeting.
In the middle of the trail , there is a point picnic , barbecue is just before the " http://coord.info/GC496AW " cache. So I did a one-hour break before returning .
If not for the method of the course , I find a cache of two like that when I return half the covers still find .
Special thanks Fergzter , Mc Geo Adies & Eddie highrod ,
Congratulations for your work
and also Shamus1 & fozzy778 & chati because I found a box you on the course

When LouiseAnn expressed an interest in caching the Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail, quiet1_au, clickcraftsman, gmj3191, KRAZYK:-p and I... invited ourselves to join her.
Most of the others met at the Ballarat end, while I joined clickcraftsman in Smythesdale to ride up to meet them. Well, I certainly got a rude reminder of how out of condition I am, and struggled to keep even a moderate pace on the gentle upslope. Granted, there was a bit of a headwind, but that's no excuse.
Anyway, we arrived to find the first cache of the day in the possession of one of the others, and the hard work was over for the day. The return journey took in a total of 44 fun finds over 18km, countless tall and true tales, more lunches than the average hobbit, and the best caching companions one could ask for. This has got to be the only way to truly enjoy a power trail.
Many thanks to Fergzter, McAdies, and all of the other owners of today's caches. I've been meaning to ride the trail for years, and Geocaching added another dimension to the experience.

We picked this cache up, at 11:37am. Out second non series cache of the day. It looks like this cache has seen better days. The container could probable be replaced and all 4 of the log books in the cache we wet. We found one that was dry enough to sign and added out names to it.
A big day out with quiet1_au, clickcraftman, gmj3191, -nirgal- and Karl from Krazy K Krew. It all started with my innocent question about the rail trail series on the Melbourne Geocaching page and ended with an all-out group assault by push bike. It was a tiring day for me, but I'm very happy with how I held up after 45 caches and 18 or so km. Thanks for the day out in Ballarat and the cache fozzy778.

Please excuse generic log as we had a big day with 45+ caches found
This all started as a simple question on FB from Louise asking a few questions about this trail, it soon snowballed into a full group assault.
Team for the day included Louise, Clickcraftsman, Qiuet1_au, gmj3191, Nirgal & myself with a PINK helmet :-p
Most of us meet and started at top of the trail while Nirgal and Clickcraftsman meet and rode from the bottom for transport back. Once the team was all together we took a nice ride collecting all the caches in the way down taking a few detours for some others also
We found most caches easier enough due to having so many eyes in the job, we stopped for a few lunch breaks along the way so we could gorge ourselves on NOM NOMS. The weather was very nice for us today with the wind picking up every so often to blow us down the trail and at times cool us off.
I would like to Thank all team members for such a great day as I've never been to Ballarat before, and couldn't think of a better introduction than this. Thank you to all the COs that took the time to place these caches for us to find, you've done a great job
This is KRAZYK signing out with a bloody sore butt, it's time now to recover
THANK YOU FOR THIS HIDE

Found 11:36am , find # 2342
Today I joined a group bike ride organised by LouiseAnn to tackle the caches on the Bike Trail between Ballarat and Smythesdale.
Other members of out party included -nirgal-, Quiet AU, Krazy Karl and Clickcraftman.
The weather was very good, a nice temperature for the 18km ride, and the breeze was on our backs.
There were not too many muggles and we had a terrific afternoon. As well as the bike path caches, a few others we encountered were found as well.
This was find # 5 of 46 finds for me for the day.
Please excuse the generic log, but after so many caches, only some of them can be remembered in detail.
This was another independent cache which we found along the way.
The log book was wet and it needs attention badly.
Thanks fozzy778.

After hearing LouiseAnn was planning to tackle this rail trail ride today, a small group of other cachers (nirgal, clickcraftsman, gmj3191, KRAZYK and myself) crashed the party. The weather was cool, cloudy, sunny, windy, etc but overall a very pleasant day for a bike ride, and most of us started from Ring Road meeting two of the team at this cache a little time after we got there. We eventually picked up 45 or 46 caches for the day (hence my generic logs - I'm afraid after a long ride and drive home after dark to the other side of the city the individual cache details have blurred - or perhaps its the celebratory beers...), and in my case another dose of spring sunburn for not "slopping"... TFTC
When LouiseAnn simply asked on Facebook whether anybody had done this trail, I and nirgal_au, Krazy-K, gmj3191 and quiet1_au invited ourselves out for a bike ride with her outside Melbourne. Nirgal and I arrived early to leave our cars at the south end and ride up to the top to meet the others. Then we all had a lovely day working our way slowly southwards. The conversation never stopped, we had lunch six times and in the end found (sometimes rather too easily) everything we came to find.
Thanks fozzy778 for the opportunity for a splendid group caching day out. [^] [^] [^] [^] [^] [^]

We started out on this run at 8am, Oh the wind is lashing lustily
and the trees are thrashing thrustily, and the leaves are rustling gustily,
So its rather safe to say that it seems it may turn out to be, it feels that it undoubtedly,
it looks like a rather blustery day, today.
we did all these caches on foot... head wind all the way, doubling back to get the car every few kms.
will be copy pasting this for the whole trail.... exhausting days work. Managed to get 55 caches done before dark.
thanks to the CO's for this cache run

Found on a very chilly windy day. The sky looked clear but the windchill factor was icy. Fortunately we were riding our bikes with the wind behind us or to the side of us most of the day. Glad to have our winter woollies. Unfortunately the story book was too wet to write in. TFTC and the nice idea.
A short walk to this as I intend to come up and do the trail with a bike at a later date. Didn't notice the story book probably because it was too wet inside the container.

Having been wanting to do these caches ever since our son-in law put his selection out. So 1st order of the day after flying in from KAtherine was to set out on the trail. We had a lovely afternoon walking the trail to Smythesdale, although I jogged most of the way trying to keep up with Lionjrb!!!
THis cache was in very poor repair when we found it. TFTC

With a day off and a the sun shining I went for a nice walk with Lumpyjmb to do the BSRT. A nice quick find. Cache a bit wet. TFTC.
Please refer to our previous log - the logbook and storybook are very wet and in urgent need of maintenance.
There was very heavy rain as we drove from Ararat to Ballarat but as we arrived, the rain stopped and there was even some faint sunlight through the clouds. We took it as an omen and, being ahead of our schedule to catch the boat back to Tassie, we decided to make a start on the Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail. As this cache was along the way we searched for this one as well. This cache was a quick find. However the contents were quite wet - we were able to make a legible signature for the logbook but adding a story was impossible. This cache is in need of urgent maintenance. We were watching a storm approaching and thought that there would not be much time left for caching in this area. TFTC fozzy778.
Another visit to Ballarat with Dutch Frangipani to complete the BSRT series. A freezing cold morning after leaving a beautiful morning at home. We walked some of these and biked some. My first real effort on a bike and gladly no falls but lots of laughs and good conversation all day. That is what I enjoy about caching, the people, the places and the joy of "found it".
This was our first on the trail today and a quick find after nearly missing it because of the chatter between us.
Thanks for the cache fozzy 778

This was the second attempt at the BSRT series with Sorceysal and this time we got to ride our bikes!!! Sorceysal was great with her first attempt on a bike for a while. It turned out to be a perfect day for it and was filled with lots of fun. I've really enjoyed this series - it was well worth the drive up again.
We walked right past this one at first as we were too busy talking TFTC fozzy778.

En route to and around Ballarat to do a bit of exploring / caching. Thanks fozzy778 for hiding this cache for me to find today.
Everything is wet. Found with assistance of geo granddaughters whilst on a bike ride along BSRT. TNLN. TFTC.
Too bad about the story, didn't realise that until we had got home! Cache need some maintenance please.
Having a great time on holiday.

Came to Ballarat to do the BSRT Trail, and we found rhis one one the way.
We had light rain and found a few by car but had to get out the bikes for most of the trail.
There was a variety of containers and well hidden caches, we had 3 DNF's.
Nice place for a bike ride.
Thanks for all the effort, fozzy778.

Took my 5-yo caching companion for her fist introduction to bicycle touring. Loaded up with tent and sleeping bags, hooked her trail-a-bike up to my bike, and set off in the twilight to ride 10km from home to the Windmill caravan park. Very exciting, riding in the dark, eating fish and chips, and sleeping in the tent.
We took the opportunity to pick up a couple of caches along the railtrail on our way home.
Disappointed to read previous logs about the damaged state of this cache, and sorry to report that the box is still broken, the books still saturated, and evidence of snail visitation still present.
We would have loved to tell a story, but couldn't even sign the log book/pulp.
Thanks for the great cache idea - we'll have to come back one day and write a story to complete our visit.

Found this damaged cache container at 12:20pm. Lid has broken corners, everything inside is very damp. Only one of the logs was even remotely usable - the others were soaked. Managed to sign one. Some of the logs were being eaten - maybe by snails in the cache? Given the number of maintenance reports and other comments on the state of the cache, come on Fozzy778 it's overdue for some attention.

Found it sooooo easy. I didn't attempt to sign the very soggy logs. See photo to see how bad it is. A snail has even taken up residence in the container (and apparently eaten some of the log). Had fun finding it though. TFTC.
Desperately needs a new container (waterproof) and a new book to continue the story.
On our bikes, we had to wait for muggles. Geokid and his friend made the find. The container is no longer waterproof and the storybook is soaked. A pity as the boys were looking forward to adding to it. It is a great idea, we hope it gets re-instated. We signed the log and replaced.
Easy find, however this cache desperately needs some love. A new container is needed to stop is getting wet.
Quick find whilst on holidays interstate visiting friends.
Great to pick up some local caches.

The cache was in extremely poor conditions, with a extremly large crack in it, please replace the container as for the enjoyment for other cachers , but anyway had a lovely ride down the rail trail even thought it was a bit cold and i fell in a puddle- Flugu-Blah

Just passing and thought we'd check this one. Full of water. Tipped out water but couldn't fix for you. You will need to bring new logs, etc.
Found rather easily. First of the day and back into caching for a while. Cache was waterlogged again, so couldn't write in log. Needs a new container. LNTN

Find 08 of 08 for the day and #1455 in total.
Would be a nice trail to explore but just not enough time today.
Container is past saturated, tipped the water out but that's all we could do.
Echo 3 - Spice 5
('\(OoO)/') Thanks for the caching fun!

This cache was found on my trip to Victoria and New South Wales for the Oz Mega event at Albury. Great trip which included finding over 230 caches in the 6 days.

This cache is in desperate need of new container and also a good dry out. Didn't attemp to sign log as it was saturated. We left dry log book in a plastic bag and pen.
Found on our Ballarat Smackdown weekend with DazRascal, Blacklegend, Trailrunning and Quasar3671!
Was looking forward to reading the storybook, and maybe adding a line or two, however, everything was pretty wet, and unfortunately not enough supplies to fix the cache up.
Many thanks for bringing us here anyhow. TNLN SL. Cheers.

One of 184 cache finds during our "Ballarat Smackdown" weekend of caching on the 23rd to 25th. There were 13 of us including Blacklegend and three of his kids, Trailrunning, Haveanez and their two boys, Dazrascal and myself amd my two boys Tyler and Cooper. We'd spent a few weeks planning the trip, with every Ballarat Puzzle solved in the area, cache lists and road and route maps all ready to go. We stayed in the Miners Retreat Motel for the two nights and the accomodation and facilities were great. Our goal was simple - find as many caches as possible in the time we were here !
We found a great variety of caches and hides during the three days, which also involved a bit of walking and some 4WD fun as well in the state forests north of Ballarat. The weather was quite cold of the Friday and Saturday morning but eventually cleared to nice sunny weather Saturday arvo and Sunday. We all had a great time, especially the kids who did really well to keep up with the pace we were moving.
Our second day of caching and it was to be our biggest day and fullest day too. Into the afternoon caching now and the weather had cleared up nicely. We parked at the trail entrance and made the short walk to GZ where the cache was oon found. Thanks for the hide.

One of 182 caches I personally found during our "Ballarat Smackdown" trip. The trip included teams Quasar3671, Trailrunning, Haveanez, Dazrascal and myself. Caches included around 30 mystery caches, a few earth caches, lots of trads and multis and both day and night caching. Some 4WD action was encountered as well, which was great. All puzzles within 60kms were solved.
I took three of my kids, Jasmine 7yo, James and Jemma 5yo twins, traveling from Tocumwal. The trip covered 3 days and two nights, staying in Ballarat. Quasar3671 took his two boys as did Haveanez. One of the best caching trips I have been on, and certainly lots and lots of finds, almost clearing out the main Ballarat area. Home base was the Miners Retreat motel, which was quite pleasant and quiet.
This was a find on our massive Saturday run, which included both day and night caches. Lunch was a picnic in the bush at one or our cache stops. A night caching run was undertaken after a rest and dinner.
Another short walk in and no trouble with the find. TFTC.

After a successful Friday evening to start off the “Ballarat Cache Smackdown” with 34 finds on the first day the Saturday was always going to be a day of superhuman effort. It started early with a run heading west and south, only to finish the day and night with a run to the Northwest and North. A great day was had by all because there was some good 4WDing and the weather held out for the day with only one notable shower. A total of 98 caches were collected today, and it shows you how quickly a cache can be located with so many searchers. This cache was one of them. Another quick drive by. Thanks for cache #101 for the smackdown.
The container was half full of water when we found it, both the lid and the base are badly cracked. Removed spoiled items, put those left into plastic bags. Couldn't turn pages on both sodden log books so put them in a different bag. I notice this is widely reported, perhaps you have moved away. If you like we could replace the container with a new one [8)] ...
Found at 3:45pm on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Cache full of water, took away spoiled swaps and dried out container but both log and storybook too sodden to write in let alone read...such a shame but TFTC
Suscoe made a quick find here this morning.
The log is as mentioned by prvious finders, so wet, tipped more water out.
Sltnln.
Thanks to fozzy778.
our story, it was a delightful sunny morning with a gentle breeze keeping the air cool. cattle were feeding quietly and all was right with the world.

the cache and log were very water logged. But its a nice sunny day to follow the trail no muggles, but lots of cows
The cycling touring and camping duo from Jindabyne found this to to be very water logged. Need immediate maintenaance.
It was a cold and rainy day here in Ballarat today when we came to find this one with Liz & Bruce. TNLN from this sodden cache. TFTC.
Happily we had a few hours to go caching with our Adelaide friends GEOTRECAZ and this was one of the caches we targetted. No problem making the find though contents are very wet. Thanks fozzy778
Easy find not far from the road, could not write in the log book as it was very wet.

Got to GZ and we were looking and then it started to rain.
This one was found held under the water by a rock.
Container was FULL of water.
We drained it and put it up on higher ground, but it wont be there for long if the rain keeps up.
Will put in a maintenance log as well.

Quick find today due to my GPS agreeing on the coords. Yes cache was much inside. I drained the water. The 2 new log sheets were fine but everything else is yuck! TFTC
Well hidden. Fairly obvious if you're looking for it but if you're not you won't find it. A muggle in a high visibility jacket caught us by surprise and gave us a strange look (he was the one with the high visibility jacket). Got fairly drenched by the recent rain so we couldn't add to the story. Took the slugs and left a new log book. Needs some general cleaning up and maybe a new container but still a good cache.
