Disabling this cache until I've had a chance to visit the area again to check or replace the cache.

25-Feb-16
It was a nice walk but we didn't find it. Maybe should be checked? Thanks anyway

17-Jan-16
No finds since 2014 needs some love from the CO please. Even if its to show the rest of us its still there.

03-Jan-16
Disappointed. No cache to be found.
Please fix or remove.

25-Oct-15
Looked everywhere obvious, poor GPS coverage at cave entrance, storms have knocked trees across the track. Cache still there?

24-Oct-15
owner needs to check cache, we couldn;t find it either

25-Sep-15
Nice spot had trouble finding the track as road bridge is blocked off and no signage. After traipsing through undergrowth finally found track, but no sign of cache track and coordinates seem out so maybe track has been changed or maybe just out due to tree cover? A lot of recent fallen trees across track as well. Very wet at the moment. For those heading up this way walk across bridge and up road to sign for a much easier route than we took.

This is one cache I wished I never attempted... The river and cave are great - well worth the short walk. I went a little way into the cave with my boys - you can't get far without crawling or getting wet.

I started looking for the cache on the way back... But one foot slipped and my other ankle made a funny crunching sound... So now every step hurts and we've got another 10 days of sightseeing and walking in Tassie Sad hopefully it will be better in the morning.

15-Dec-14
Yep, we did indeed need a nice walk after a very long drive down from Burnie! It was a lovely walk indeed-- peaceful, fresh air, clean water, big ferns and no one else around apart from a reclusive guy camping in the parking area. Wonderful cave, very cool!

Unfortunately... we could not find the cache. We searched for quite a while all along the bank beside the path, in every eye-level nook and cranny we could find, but came up with nothing. There didn't seem to be any spots that looked particularly 'obvious' to us, so the hint wasn't very helpful. Sad It was disappointing because it was such a nice spot, but at some point we had to admit defeat.

TFTC. Fantastic little walk. Kids made a couple of swaps, but left the mouldy dog! Smile

03-Dec-13
Found on our first holiday to Tasmania! Beautiful spot Smile the logbook and cache itself is very wet, so perhaps some maintenance and/or a new waterproof container would help Smile

18-Oct-13
Gotcha !!! TFTC Thanks for bringing us to this interesting feature.

21-Sep-13
What an amazing spot, we spent ages there staring into the cave and searching the river for platypus. Thanks for the cache.

03-Aug-13
Found on our school holiday caravan and caching trip to the South West.

A very interesting spot that we would not have seen but for caching. Thanks for bringing us here and for the cache.

08-May-13
A really amazing spot here, to see a river coming up from under the earth. Knowing this phenomena we could see it here for the first time. Thanks for bringing us here.

Found it after trip up to Mt Field - 3rd visit here, lovely spot with the forest, cave and stream plus shares a name with my hometown in NSW. Logbook a bit soggy, had to walk back to the car to get a pen to sign book.
TFTC

Was standing looking over the rail into the cave, thinking about what a very remote spot this was, and envisioning horror movie scenes, when I turned around three people had come up behind us and I very nearly screamed as my heart leapt up into my throat. I think they were very amused at my reaction of "Oh my god you scared the #^!! Out of me!" Smile TFTC!

Always loved this spot. There is something awesome about seeing a river springing out of the rock like that. Very soggy cache, but log was just damp and still signable.

09-Nov-12
Found accidentally while exploring the area on a camping trip to Mt Field.
Unfortunately everything was very soggy and rather musty. I wasn't prepared for geocaching, so couldn't help out.

#4 of 8 caches on 8/10/12 for the cache "GA2512 A Busy Day" - Traditional.

After attending the Geocaching 102 Event in Hobart the previous evening, we decided to head home via the West Coast and along the way try to meet the requirements for the above locationless cache. We enjoyed the drive to Maydena and out to the Junee Caves carpark. It was a pleasant short walk into the cave. Once there a quick search and the cache was in hand at 9:15am. The cache and contents were in good condition. The area is magnificent with the river emerging from the cave. One of our sons is a caverneer and he spends a great deal of time in the area and around Hastings. Although we don't venture into non-tourist caves, we can appreciate the fascination and enjoyment he experiences from the experiences. TFTC Tasgunsmith and for bringing us to this wonderful area.

19-Sep-12
My grandson and I spent the day in the area, visiting Russel Falls and other features in the area. We had some lunch in Maydena then cruised down the road to collect this cache. I love the rain forest and this area is no exception. The last time I was here was almost 40 years ago, I think. TFTC. (Took the butterfly travelbug.)

Wondrous location, not so lovely weather!!

A most enjoyable short walk to a great site and cache. As is usual in all Tassie's big, beautiful tall trees the GPS was all over the place so the hint was very helpful. Geohubby made a quick find, the log was signed and we dropped off a Butterfly Collector Travel Bug. Lots of water pouring out of the cave today. This is the first time we have ever seen a cave as the source of the river. We loved it. Many thanks for a great hide. [^][^]

02-May-12
Found on a very wet day, the river was high.

22-Apr-12
Very soggy day with fast flowing water precluding entry into the cave, but beautiful nonetheless Smile

22-Feb-12
Visiting from Newcastle NSW, nice spot, keep a lookout for the black snake that sunbakes on the right side of the bridge from the carpark, TFTC!!

17-Feb-12
The cache easily found. Beautiful scenery and good cache in the area.

03-Feb-12
It's lovely here. The logging nearby leaves a bit to be desired. Tftc

31-Jan-12
A wonderful walk, very scenic, thanks for showing us this area. The cache was found after a short search. Thanks Tasgunsmith

11-Nov-11
What a magnificent cave, loved the walk in through the rainforest, very pretty unlike nearby where they're harvesting the trees.
Cache & log are a little bit damp but almost everything else here is damp as well.

Great spot

14-Aug-11
local notes:
I had a look in the cave, really nice, saw one of the local massive spiders and plenty of crickets. I just wish I could go further and further in. Guess it's the explorer in me. The roof was covered in shimmering droplets of water. Gave a really good effect when you shone the torch. I found the cache quickly as it wasn't to well covered and could be spotted by anyone. Replaced cache and hid a little better. TNLN.

25-Apr-11
Found this one on a beautiful day trip to Mt Field with friends. With 12 of us looking (4 geoadults and 8 geokids), it didn't take too long to find. TFTC.

07-Mar-11
Great walk loved the info about the cave, if it wasnt for caching would not have gone here.
Thanks for the cache
TNLN

21-Jan-11
This one took some time to find. GPS lost all signal and left me in the dark. Finally logged the cache at 1324hrs. Only my second time in to the caves but have loved the walk by the creek both times. Got back to the car only to find the rear passenger tyre as flat as a dodo. TFTC and cheers; OldSaint.

03-Jan-11
Lovely walk and a great adventure inside the cave. Found the cache and a very large skull with very large teeth in the river as well. We are hoping it's an important ecological find but it's probably just some poor unfortunate cow. Took stickers, left tattoos and a pen. Great spot, TFTC.

27-Dec-10
Thought we were going to get right muggled - wasn't expecting so many people at the cave on this cold nearly wet day. Took American coin and left a keyring and tried to cover it up better than it was.

29-Sep-10
Sat loc was vey poor today - it had been snowing, and was raining when we were looking for the cache. The river was roaring down, from all the snow melt and rain. Spent quite a bit of time scrabbling around and getting muddy and dirty but no luck. Great spot anyway.

03-Sep-10
Thanks for taking us to this great location. We wouldn't have seen it without geocaching. TNLN.

Great spot, would never have visited without finding there was a gc there. River was in flood, so no chance of exploring the cave...one day! Little Lofty left his mark too! Tnln

01-Mar-10
Beautiful area. We wished we had our Jeep instead of a rental car as we came across a few muddy spots in the road. Took nothing - left a US one dollar golden coin. Thanks for the hide.

26-Jan-10
It was nice to come back to such a lovely spot, it's amassing watching the fish swimming in the crystal clear water. We were told of a place called Growling Swallet the the other end of this cave. Next time. 2nd cache for Australia Day.

18-Jan-10
What a wonderful place! Without the cache been hidden there, we wouldn't have seen it. Many thanks for that!!!!

Really fantastic spot. Must be quite rare! Loved your hint too. Thanks!

13-Jan-10
What a majic spot. Even the drive in was a treat. This had to be the best suprise of cache locations of our entire holidays. Water just so clear and full of fish with fern cover to shade the enterance of the cave. Thanks for bringing us to such a beautiful spot. Was a brilliant introduction for 3 Victorians to geocaching. TFTC

Yes, we needed a nice walk and we got one.

It's a great spot to visit. Always worth the short walk.
Container was a tiny bit damp inside but the logbook is OK.

Found it on Friday 13th. What a beautiful place; and again, one we never would have seen if not for geocaching. Took obscene entry from log book dated 23/5/09 (obviously muggled) and left soldier. TFTC

25-Oct-09
Started to pour after we arrived at GZ, so we didn't spend long looking for this.

Saw heaps of small fish in the strweam, a really cool spot.

Thanks all the same.

Staying in a B&B at Westerway and visiting areas that we haven't been to for many years, and finding a few caches on the way. Travelled to Maydena for many years in my past working life and never had time to visit these caves. Thanks TGS for bringing us here, it is for sure one lovely enjoyable walk to a more than beautiful spot.

Cache in good nick, but put log in new plastic bag and left Geo information card as there wasn't one in cache.

Wow! What a marvellous short walk Smile
The generous flow of water gushing out of the cave mouth was unexpected Big Grin
I stood there for a while transfixed by the scene as my eyes adjusted to the darker areas of the scenery Smile
It is difficult to imagine the labyrinth that lies behind this one exit.
How many bodies lie in its depths [:o]
TFTC. I wondered where some of those cave names were on the map, now I know Big Grin

Very nice spot. Glad we came here!
Water so nice and clear!
Had a poke around the entrance of the cave too but couldn't go too far as only had my phone for a touch.

Third visit to this spot and this time rewarded with a cache-find as a bonus! It's a magic spot and there were lots of fish in the river and birds in the bush. Mrs P and I had enjoyed a high-altitude lunch at Eagle Tarn and we decided to take a little stroll in the afternoon at a lower level as well. Mrs P says she could almost be persuaded to buy a fishing rod. Thanks Tasgunsmith for bringing me here again (this time without Trog suit and carbide lamp) TNLNSL.

Visited again on way to Gordon. Swampy was way in front..so no need to hurry. An awesome spot with quite a lot of water. Many thanks Tasgunsmith....cache in top condition...well hidden too...TNLN....Cheers.

What Gorbak failed to realize was that I'd watched "The Cave" (2005) on DVD a few weeks back, and the whole thing was still freaking me out! There were four other vehicles in the car park when we arrived, all inter-state plates, and kitted out expedition-style. No sign of the occupants. One can only surmise they were somewhere inside the BOWELS of the earth, being systematically picked off by the resident mutant cave-dwellers!

After having this go through my mind, and STILL have the amazing cave mouth beckon me to enter, I had to quickly refocus my attention to the mission at hand. It was then I noticed the strange look on Gorbak's face. NOOOOOO!!! "THEY" have already got him! I'll be a light-sensitive MUTANT before nightfall!

Either that, or he'd found the cache while I was distracted by an over-active imagination.

He'd found the cache while I was distracted by an over-active imagination.

I still checked my eyes for signs of transformation when I got home. You just can't be too careful with these things!

Thanks for the cache Tasgunsmith; a nice hide in an amazing place! Loved it!

06-Jan-09
Found with SG-3, or more correctly... found, signed, and returned while SG-3 was busy doing things like marvelling at, and taking photos of, the totally amazing cave. I can't blame him really, it was mighty speccy! Thanks for bringing us here, it was well worth the brief detour.

Awesome spot - we all loved it and it certainly deserves both caches.

Thanks for the cache - Wackys and Cached (SA) Big Grin

Decided to go for a drive because the weather in Hobart was not the best.
I ended up out here and although the drive was mostly out of the rain, it was trying its darndest to rain on me here.
Very interesting features of this cave. The water was flowing very well adn I think the river was about 30cm above normal. There was heaps of water.
TNLN, thanks for showing me this area.

Top spot and great cache. We really enjoyed this spot, filled our water-bottles with freshly filtered cavewater, very nice. Ventured in a little and saw some great cave crickets.

Lots of those Glaxi fishes swimming about, super-clear water.

Thanks for this one TGS

We were looking in all obvious spots but no luck.

20-Apr-08
I always enjoy the short walk into this spot so any reason to go back would be taken advantage of. Well camouflaged galaxis
(Galaxias truttaceus)in the clear water river and a cache.
I managed FTF as Red Tag had a bit of trouble with the eye height part.
Thanks Tas Gunsmith

20-Apr-08
After the Hunt and Munch gspblu and I headed off to do some fishing.
We agreed to fish the Tyenna river which just happens to run right past this cache so naturally we went for FTF.
Once near GZ gspblu made a quick find! If your vertically challenged like me the 'eye level' is more like 'reach as high as you can and you maybe be able to feel it' Red Face

Thanks Tasgunsmith for placing another cache here, it’s such a beautiful place. Big Grin
