This was one of the first caches I found a couple of months back now. Was with 3 others. Night time find but still easy. Cheers for the cache!
Well 3 off us searched for this one. We even cleaned all off the rubbish out of the trough. But it's a did not find for us unfortunately.
We did enjoy the history behind the cache though. Thought it was very interesting.
Never occurred to me that horses would require benefactors to supply troughs.
Thanks for the history and I'll place a watch on this one to see if we missed the obvious.
Cheers

We have decided to archive this cache for a couple of reasons. Firstly the trough is in poor condition and doesn't appear to be restored in the future. It has also lost its backing plate with the "George and Annis" plaque. Secondly because it is frequently used as a bin making cachers fossick through rubbish to retrieve the cache. Another trough will be found so the story can be told to geocachers.
Found it after searching through the rubbish. Hidden well, bring your hand sanitizer though.
Nice to learn about the history. Safe find as ground zero is away from busy muggle area. Used a stick to dig around in the rubbish to find it
A friend of mine is in the process of photographing all the Bills troughs in Australia so it was interesting to find one. Thanks vp4
First Find. Great piece of Geelong History. Use to park next to it everyday. Easy Find
Had to dig through rubbish, not this nicest cache to find.
TFTC, Bit late on the logs today, Finially worked out i can upload cache notes to the website from my Garmin GPSMAP 62sc, Damn it makes things a lot faster and easier. No more excuses in the future.

Easy find.
But trough is full of rubbish and looks disgusting, and log book is full

Bit of a shame the trough is full of rubbish now! Ended up being a bit of a dig. Tftc!
I was not sure if the cache is one of the bottles or other rubbish. But fortunately it wasn´t. TFTC
In Geelong over Easter visiting family. Out with Son-in-law, increasing the local smiley count.
Actually found this 2 1/2 years ago while caching with someone else. Just had to return and sigh under my own name. Nice to see it is till here.

Found it, though its a shame the hiding place has been littered, might want to look over it?
Found @1438
Quick easy find as the cache was in plain sight. It's such a shame that these iconic structures aren't cared for more. Removed some rubbish and replaced container out of sight.
SL Took marble Left smiley face badge

A nice one for the kids to find, and an interesting bit of history for us all. Signed log, but no swaps made - some items in there are not suitable for the littlies to be playing with. Did remove some rubbish (juice bottle lid and sticky lolly wrapper) TFTC!
Nice quick find. Pushed it a little further under so as to be out of view.

Forgot to bring my rubbish bag as sadly this is a prime location for some CITO. Clever little hide though not what I was expecting. Thanks vp4
Another good hiding spot - especially seeing the drink trough as there are not that many about these days. We did appreciate your cache notes with the history of Annis and George Bills.
TFTC vp4 and for bringing us to see Bill's legacy.

Found it.. nice and easy, funny how i never before realised there was a drinking trough there :/
Found this one today after the Buried Treasure event and informal dinner afterwards. I made hard work of this one tonight - looking everywhere but where it was! Finally I looked there and bingo there it was! I signed the log but didn't swap anything.
Thanks for the cache and the history vp4.

Nice to learn a little more about the local history. A quiet little street this afternoon which made it easy to have a poke around and spot the cache. TNLN TFTC
Found today @1211. Nice quiet street but had to wait for traffic to leave.
Signed log, planted TB and put back.
Pitty theres been damage to the hide spot, but a good one anyway.

A horse trough is definately NOT something I would expect to find in the city. Very interesting to read how it came to be there, thank you! Signed log and left a traveler.
Find number 3, a hat-trick, who needs a GPS! - very quick & easy find, - no mugglers!
Last cache of the day for this very soggy cacher. What an afternoon to decide to geocache on foot(!). Even with an umbrella, ended up wet from head to toe. At any rate, found Bill's Legacy without any problems @ 17:20. A real shame that some people have decided to use the trough as a rubbish bin. Cache okay though, still with all its swaps nice and dry. Has lost most of its camo, and the lid has a small crack in one corner of the lid, but otherwise fine. Signed log, took nothing, left nothing, and returned to where found. Was too wet to pause long! Luckily, this meant no muggle activity in the area. Thanks for another great slice of local history with this cache, vp4. Enjoyed reading up about Bill and the area, and much appreciate your efforts. Cheers!
Thanks for the little bit of Geelong history out for day /night with Teamranger TFTC
Found this one late at night with the aid of a torch, after a caching run out on the Peninsula. Thanks for the story of the Bill's, and it's wonderful to still see some of these old troughs still about, as they are an important reminder of our history. Thanks to vp4 for the cache, the story, and bringing me here.
Took way too long to find this cache. Must have been the amazing chocolate dessert at black salt that was clogging our brains. Eventually found and log signed. Tftc
23/06/12 2:42 PM Find #1070 On a bit of a spur of the moment Square Pegs and I decided to head to Geelong for a spot of caching and this was our eighth find of the day and another by vp4....we made a quick find but did wonder if the lady over the road was suspicious, not that she could see much with the car hiding us.
This was a cache that I was pleased to have visited today. An object that you might otherwise pass by without realising the extensive history behind it. Thanks for providing some interesting information about it in the description. While we were signing the log, a lady across the road appeared and started sweeping her front lawn. Thankfully we had the car parked between her and us, so don't think she saw the container. Thanks for the cache.
My second cache find. It's awesome to find these things practically under my nose.
Thanks team.
Thanks team.
Whilst having an overnight stop in Geelong I had dinner and then ran around 6 caches before returning to the hotel for a beer. After a brisk walk I was there at GZ. Nice easy find. T4TC
After 4 successive days of caching with visiting WA friends richlink it was beginning to be a test of endurance especially given the early starts and late finishes. Each day we would report to each other on aches and pains and blisters. Today we were heading from Werribee towards Geelong. This was one we found and we thank you for the cache vp4
Quick find with the kids. Care had to be taken with broken glass around. Have come past here multiple times & never noticed the horse trough!! TFTC.
Found @ 2150 Hrs after course at the 'Gordon'....
No muggles around at this time of night making this a quick, easy find on a warmish evening in Geelong... What a great bit of history too...
Took: Nothing
Left: Pathtag
Thanks to vp4 for bringing me here!

It's amazing how many of these troughs still exist after almost a century. Nearly every town in country Victoria has one, usually in a prominent position to be well noticed. It's a shame this one is missing the back plate with the dedication on it.
A quick find on a warm afternoon.
Thanks vp4

Driving back to Ballarat from the Bellarine Peninsula, stopped off to make this find. Located carefully as there was a proliferation of broken glass that needed to be avoided to collect the cache. Log signed and cache replaced. Thanks vp4 for the cache.
This was a great cache for my children to discover! it was their first and only a few metres from our house.
Took Geocoin.
Quick GAFF 1 Find. There were some people having a party in a house at the end of the street. A broken bottle in GZ. Not that wise to stick your hand into it, But I'm not that wise. [:p]

Sailed down from Melbourne for Geelong race week. Too many juggles down at the docks so I had to head out of town a ways.
Easily found. Left geocoin.

Wow, what an interesting piece of history. I love it and am so glad I got to learn about this. What great people Bill and Annis were. May their legacy live on.
Thanks very much for this cache!

After spending the afternoon searching for Benito's Treasure out at Queenscliff we stopped at a few caches along the road back to Geelong.
This was the last find for today but we will have to revisit tomorrow. We were in such a rush late today that we didn't read the cache notes like we should have. If we had then we would have known this was a Bill's trough. We found quite a few Bill's during our travels and they are the subject of a locationless cache on GCA. When we return tomorrow we can take a photo to log a find their as well - two for the price of one.
Thanks vp4.

This is an interesting historical site in an interesting part of Geelong. Unfortunately the water trough has been used as a rubbish bin lately so if the next cacher could take a plastic bag and remove the rubbish (some broken glass) that would be good. Also I question the appropriateness of a couple of the items in the cache. TFTC TNLN
Nice easy find to start our visit to the area.
