4.23. Unarchiving a Geocache

The archiving of a geocache is intended to be a permanent status. That is why only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ staff have the capability to unarchive it. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if it meets the current Geocache Listing Guidelines.

If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance it will not be unarchived.

Probably time for this one to be archived! I can't contact CO as the system says they are inactive. Sad to see this one disappear as it was a fun little puzzle and a nice spot, had also been around for so long! But there is nothing there anymore and no response to maintenance requests.

The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention.

I am temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary.

Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 28 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.

If you require more time please be sure to post a note (not an email) explaining the situation and how much more time you require.

For ongoing issues please ensure you visit the listing and post a new note every 28 days to keep everyone up to date or the cache will be treated as an abandoned cache and archived without further notice.

Solved the puzzle, found the right location but I think I agree with previous messages that it has been furry muggled.

Went looking for the second cache of the day. Could not find it yet found what we believe to be the branch in the description. Being that there has been no log since Feb I think the owner may want to check the cache.. Would have loved to have found it after completing the puzzle but there is always next time

Loved the puzzle to find it. Container and book REALLY need some TLC.

16-Jan-16
The cache was found easily by following the short trail of swag that had been cast aside when an animal decided to open the cache and see just why it smelled of fruit.
Not being able to unscrew the lid it simply chewed one side out of the bottle.
Needs Maintenance is an understatement, it needs a new container (preferably one that has never had food in it.) The logbook was on the ground and the plastic bag wrecked.
I would give it a week at best before it is back where we found it, or worse.

Last one for me but Lukie1987 still needs to find Stumped in Braeside for 1999.
Having solved this puzzle quite a long time ago tonight's event here made for the perfect opportunity to have a look for this one.

I had solved this one quite some time ago...I do like doing Sudokus...and as I was in teh area I made a special effort to come looking for it...before it disappears. The CO appears to have been long gone so no one is looking after the cache...it is rather surprising in a way that it has lasted as long as it has...probably because it is a Mystery which aren't as popular.

Although I doubt if you will see it, thanks for the cache Tahmara.

Researching pirate coin Trackable history, since it was discovered in this cache and then placed in our cache. Going to work on this puzzle tonight and make it a find soon. However, reading through past online logs, we noticed everyone keeps saying the container needs replacing as it is cracked but no one has flagged it for the the owner as a NM log.

Great place for a cache. Was mindful while in the area that this is one for which I had completed the puzzle, so had a looky. Found a couple of its neigbours amongst the grass too. Also picked up a TB [Travel Pirate] which doesn't actually appear to have been registered as present. Cache looked to be in good condition though I noticed that the plastic has now cracked through on at least one side. Thanks Tahmara!

Arrived at GZ (or so we thought ), the kids and I looked for 20 minutes with no luck. We went back to the car and I checked the suduko puzzle my eldest daughter had solved and found only one mistake (not bad for a 10 year old), which put GZ about 200 meters away. Armed with corrected coords headed to GZ and made a quick find. TFTC SL

Found tonight with Cookie_monster and Sinornithosaurus on a nightcaching adventure trying to did the elusive HopHop the roo... With no luck with the nightcache, getting stuck at stage 6, we still had a great night! This cache was the second of the night, and honestly the hardest to get to, with the terrain made tough but rabbit holes here and there. The cache was found immediately by the leader of the single file Smile TFTC!
P.S. Yes, like many other logs, the cache is broken and should be fixed by the owner before it gets soaked Smile

I always love to do a good sudoku puzzle, so while trolling the geocaching map the word popped out in front of me , I quickly printed it off and had it solved in no time. Today we were in Melbourne picking up some solved puzzles so we headed down to Breaside for this one. We couldn't believe the amount of rabbit holes around the area and even the size of some. Boy the rabbits in Breaside must be on steroids!
Thanks Tahmara for a good puzzle and showing us this area.

In the area today with a bit of spare time to find a few caches.
Plenty of room to park the bus and an easy walk to Gz , nice and quiet here.

Cache in need of some TLC, container broken and I'm surprised it isn't soaked.

04-Feb-15
I solved the puzzle for this one back in October last year, but this evening was the first chance I've had to actually come and take a look for it.

After parking about 200m or so from GZ I made my way towards it by the most direct route possible. About halfway there I started to have doubts, but then I actually read the description for the first time in four months, looked around at the multitude of cute furry brown critters eyeballing me cagily (or scrambling to avoid my less-than-stealthy progress through the dry brush underfoot), along with their many excavations dotting the area, and decided I might be on the right track after all.

Got to GZ, thought "Okay, time to start searching the most likely possibilities", then looked directly in front of me, where less than a foot away a section of the fabled green lid peeked out from behind some environmental camo. Coords could not have been more spot-on. Smile

Opened the container (plenty of swag in there - pity the geokids were not with me to appreciate it) retrieved the log book from the plastic bag and signed it, feeling very chuffed with myself that I was the first to find it in over a year, as the most recent signing was marked 6-1-14.

Or not... It was only once I sat down to log this at home tonight that I saw Annoying Tarbit's online log at the top... for 6-1-15. Doh! I couldn't be too annoyed though, as late last month I realised I had signed most of the caches found this year with a '14" at the end instead of a '15' myself. Sigh...

Anyway, aside from that this does seem to be a fairly rarely found hide of late (only four finders at all last year), so after signing the log I left a TB that I've been carting around for far too long, to maybe sweeten the deal a little for someone.

This was a great cache (when I become a premium member I'll definitely award it a favourite point) as I enjoy sudoku and it was also good to have a reason to revisit and explore this area. Thanks for the cache, Tahmara!

(PS Echoing comments by Annoying Tarbit, the container itself is indeed cracked on one side, so when I re-hid I made sure the cracked edge was in and under/towards the rear to hopefully protect it, before re-concealing, but it would def be a good idea to replace before the weather tends to the wet again.)

Find #714

I had a few goes at this one. My first crack at solving the puzzle produced a plausible set of coordinates but on getting there I found no cache. On revisiting the puzzle I noticed an error in my workings. This required me to redo the puzzle and this time a completely new set of figures for the south coordinate though of course still in the same park. It took me a while to get back there but tonight I popped the MTB onto the car and toured the park looking for a few caches. Ditched the bike and did the last bit on foot to this one. It's still in place despite not being found for 7 months. The container is showing signs of wear and has a crack in so might be worth fixing up before winter. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks for the puzzle and for the cache Tahmara.

Found this one today on my second attempt at the final cache. The first time I arrived in office attire, with the wrong shoes and fading light and couldn't locate GZ. Today I made sure that none of these were the cache and I followed where my gps was pointing more efficiently and voila there was the cache. I must attempt it was very nice to have decent weather to cache in and this ended up being the first of many that I found tonight.

Thanks for the cache and the puzzle Tahmara.

Find #514

I met up with gmj3191, day1976, Krazy-K and son and Rigger64 to help celebrate Rigger64's 1,000th find tonight. The weather was kind to us, neither too hot nor too cold and the rain that fell earlier in the day had cleared.
I had no idea of how do play Sudoku until I came across this cache. I solved it several months ago but didn't have a chance to find it until tonight.
A shortish detour from our journey to HopsHops the Roo resulted in an easy find.

While completing a multi, I passed close by the published coordinates for this one, reminding me that I'd solved it in anticipation of the recent CITO event, but ran out of time to make a grab.

Though the general vicinity of the cache was surrounded by primary school kids on an excursion, the path I needed to access GZ had just been vacated, and the last of that group were enjoying a long cool drink at the nearest intersection as I passed by. I managed to make my approach more difficult in my impatience than it needed to be, and spotted the easier way on arrival... not an uncommon occurrence in caching.

A nice little walk after a fun puzzle, with another smiley. Cheers.

Spladem had invited us down to the waterways for a little CITO and this one was also on the menu for the day ahead.

A family gathering in the park meant I had to see if there was a cache to grab. The sudoku gave itself up pretty easily as I'm pretty good at these now. After a little bit of bush bashing we made the find, thanks for the cache Tahmara.

I had solved the puzzle for this one quite some time ago but on my last trip to Braeside Park, I had forgotten to collect the cache! I was keen to get out today and grab a cache for 12/12/12 day and this one was on my way home from work so it was a perfect opportunity. I parked right near GZ and it was only a short walk to grab the cache. Thankfully it was an easy find as I wasn't looking forward to searching in my jeans in the hot Summer sun.

Out on a night caching run with Danozz in the Eastern Melbourne area and down as far as The Briars in Mt Martha on the Mornington Peninsula. The night was a puzzle clean up night, I had heaps solved, and don't know how many opportunities I will get to grab the finals, so tonight was the night. 30 caches found including 16 puzzles and several multis.... A top night of caching.

I reckon I have had this solved for at least 2 years. Danozz had already done it, so it was a walk together to GZ, where the final was found quickly. Lots of bracken to get through here. TFTC.

As most of my bigger caching runs have been lately - LouiseAnn had a great plan to get myself, Danoz and our new friends from the Albury Mega Event, TeamTOSH.net, out for a big night of night caching. And, as with most of LouiseAnn's plans, it worked out great. Many thanks to Louise Ann for the plan, and to Danoz and TeamTOSH.net for their awesome company and enthusiasm. This turned what would usually be a fun night caching adventure into a brilliant night filled with many laughs, much frivolity, some good Chinese food, and we even found a few caches in between! LouiseAnn and I left work together and headed toward our rendezvous point in her Geomobile. While completing the night cache in the area, we took the opportunity to grab this cache on the way past. A slightly difficult walk in to the GZ with a lot of hidden trip hazards ready to grab the unwary ankle Still we were able to navigate our way to the cache for an easy find. The cache is in good condition. Thanks for the cache Tahmara.

Danozz and I decided a day of caching down the bay towards the Hampton Beaumaris direction, as neither of us had that many caches down there. We both worked very hard in preparation and solved around 10 puzzle caches before we headed in to the area. The long day started at in the fog and the improved as we went along. By the end of the afternoon we were heading east for this last puzzle and a couple of other caches, before heading home.

I was out this afternoon in the area and wanted to grab a few caches that had eluded me in the past.

I had worked out this puzzle and the final co ords quite a while ago, but this was the first time I was in the area to be able to search. I had my bike in the car, so rode to within 40 meters of the cache and walked from there. A nicely hidden cache. Contents nice and dry.

Out in the little car finishing a corner of my cleared area. Got the numbers (I've been doing Sudoku since The Times first ran them years and years ago). The night was cool, but as I was racing around looking for caches. This was a cache on my radar for the evening as I'd solved the puzzle some time ago.

It was a cache I’d previously left alone because it was not in a location I usually frequent. The cache was found rather quickly and the log signed. Then back to the car for another find nearby.

This was #4 of 6 for the day. Solved the sudoku in the car, quite an easy one. I used to come to this park all of the time to ride my bike when I was young. It brought back great memories.
