A quick stop here after finishing the Tungkillo to Springton leg of the Federation Lavender Trail with Chookster. Great spot, I enjoyed the scramble, but the best bit was the cute little red bellied black snake that freaked Chookster out!TFTC
Naughtybunny and I did a few caches as we meandered on the way home after walking a section of the Lavender Trail nearby. We were a bit sore but managed to do some caching. What an impressive structure and this is what Geocaching is all about. Of course we took the hard way up climbing the direct route and I freaked out as I saw a red-bellied black snake slither down a hole. Cache was right there. TNLN. Cheers.
Mrs Woodyrothwell and I were just at the Lobethal Road cellar door sending some wines home. We had dropped in earlier in the week and they had a crazy special on their Sauvignon Blanc. They hadnt ordered enough labels for their wine so they were selling them at less than half price. Bank error in our favour! Now we want all wine makers to not order enough labels. We were on our way to the big rocking horse. Why? Because who doesnt want to see a big rocking horse. Also it was at Gumeracha and we had all sorts of word puns lined up.On the drive I asked Mrs Woodyrothwell to look for any caches. Not soon after she told me to pull over stat! We were on holiday and looking for things that werent risk adverse outside the bedroom. We looked at it for a little bit before I decided I would kick myself if I didnt have a crack. tftc
Today it was announced that the AMY GILLETT RAIL TRAIL cycle path will be extended to Birdwood, crossing this bridge. The cache should not be impacted by the path but do be aware that construction works may be taking place.
2nd visit to this spot. This is the cache which made me aware of geocaching! Coolest location.
I have about 80 caches at railway stations in New Zealand. Many of the stations are no longer there, and indeed often the line is gone as well. I love railway caches, and I especially love caches that tell of forgotten history. So when I saw the cache title I had to come by. Parked on the one side of the bridges and scrambled up the other side. Reading the cache description afterwards, I realised it was the same way up that the CO recommended. Nice container at GZ, and it is interesting to see how fast the trees grow.Pity the rail line had such a short life.A nice easy favourite.---Greetings from New Zealand! It's the last day of my Mega holiday in Australia. Mostly, so far, it has been about the numbers, today it is about quality. Skuzzy Bear gave me a overly ambitious list of 130 caches to visit, all good ones, apparently. So they were the only ones I looked at today. Lord knows how many I just drove past! on the long route out to Murray Bridge. Only found sixteen caches, but probably dropped 10 favourites, my biggest favourite drop day to date. There are some seriously cool caches out there!
TFTC. That was fun ??Went up ??the way I thought it had instructed and wasnt too bad ??But I think I found the correct way when heading down????Log signed ??
Found it! Saw the favourite points so stopped by en route to lunch at the Macclesfield Hotel. TFTC!
Midweek journey to Mt Torrens and surrounds.
Nice adventure. Scrambled up as recommended, found the cache, but took a nice leisurely walk down the path on the opposite side (off the dirt track)
Fave from us.

After a delicious dinner at the Mt Torrens pub, we decided to head over here and check out the bridge. A fascinating bit of history. Thanks for the cache
Found by Mary and David at 13:05. D, aged 76, took one for the Team and did the scramble and log. Return journey was a bit more cautious though. Our thanks to Dik:.
Found with gridge98 whilst in the area doing some caching apologies for the late log. Thanks for the cache
Parked up and made my way up and over to this cache, interesting location here, cache and contents are all good
Today we headed up into the hills to doing some walking caches along the bike path and the Charleston X series plus a few others along the way.

A caching run with ilook4geo produced a reasonable haul for the day. Most were not hard to find but some were a bit more tricky to locate. This one was quite good and the numbers took us to the right spot. The log was soon stamped with both names and the container was then returned to its proper place. Thanks go to Dik for placing this cache, which we enjoyed finding.
Out on a caching expedition with goingplaces2 and had a good day. Plenty of finds to add some smileys to the caching map. Logs were signed, containers were replaced as found. Job done and time to move on. TFTC.
Puff! Puff! Made it to the cache. Puff! Puff!
Wait, there was an easier way to get to this cache.
With Sir Clive Staples.
A favourite point for the adventure!

Wooh! Puffed after choosing the steepest bit to find the cache but not too bad for us two in our very early 50’s. What a great place for a cache. Fave point. Tftc
Couldn't work out which was the North West corner so took a guess. Thanks dik fir the challenge.
Found on a chilly day while staying at Palmer tftc First time for everything, never been on a railway bridge before
An enjoyable drive towards the cache in this scenic country on the way home after I spent three nights at my daughter’s house at Mount Crawford.
I finally stopped for this cache. I just managed to grab it. Phew!
Thanks Dik for the cache

I had a wonderful day and a half in this region. Yesterday afternoon I started this group, and today I continued north to get as many as I could in this general area. I picked up my first cache under a freeway bridge just after 8am, and headed north picking up what didn’t get collected yesterday. A few in Balhannah then along the Onka Way. Through Charleston and to Mt Torrens, then the main fare of the day OTD September. I cleaned up what came onto my screen as I headed home, super day out last cache was in Lobethal. I am looking forward to beer and a home-made schnitty back home.
I am so glad I came here for this cache. I was not put off by the previous DNFs. Seeing Otters comments caused me to have great anticipation, and I was not disappointed. The climb was good, the plants providing sure footing. A well covered cache, and a super choice and effort has been made here. I dropped off a trackable, and took many photos. A favourite point for you here, wish I could add more. Well done Dik, my most favourite cache of the weekend.
Interesting that the northern end of the track is completely gone!

Unfortunately this one eluded us today. Next time we are in the area we will attempt again.
Just passing by and thought there would probably be a cache here.. and surprise there is. It's great to see old fashioned workings survive the test of time. Need to bring a pen. TFTC
This had been the closest DNF to home, so great to see it reinstated, with an ammo can and spanking new log book no less. Thanks Dik!
Cache definitely wasn't where it was supposed to be.
What looked like a damaged cache container was in the paddock at the bottom of the hill, but not the container I hid! On private property behind barbed wire, so I left it where it was.
New ammo can, logbook and swaps back where its supposed to be.

Today with COVID-19 requirements still in effect, and with jesswrigley wanting a rest day at home, I decided to head up to the hills to do a couple of OTD series that hadn't been found for some time. These were the June OTD series, followed by the September OTD geoart series, just around Mount Torrens. There was evidence of the bushfires affecting some of these spots, and so where I could, helped the CO in any required repairs and replacements. In addition, I stopped off at various locations to run along the trails and in reservations/parks to do some fitness. It was a cloudy day with some showers that passed through, but otherwise a coolish day that helped provide solo motivation at jumping in/out of the car so frequently.
It looks like this cache hadn't been found since 03/2019, more than a year? It was actually a really cool location and nice bridge. A fun scramble up, but despite my diligent searching around GZ, I couldn't locate this regular sized cache. Searched the small rocks around the bridge part in a fair amount of detail too. I think the previous DNFer only mentioned the northern side being impacted by fire as a FYI, irrespective of where the cache was hidden, but I can now confidently affirm that the cache is likely missing. When others had mentioned that this cache was easily found, then this cache can really only be missing from here. Thanks anyway Dik:, and hoping this cache can continue its life here, since it really is a cool spot.

Was hoping to find a regular sized cache to leave a trackable. Unfortunately after 5 mins of searching on a drizzly cold morning, with a phone GPS signal close to useless, it was time to give up.
After the three passings through this spot, on the fourth time I thought that this was a great spot for a cache. So I stopped and checked. Yep! After the brief scramble to the top, I was signing.
Thanks for the cache, Dik

We knew that it just had to be up there and that we would not find the cache until we got up there. It was steepish and slippery because of the loose gravel and dry gum leaves. Once up there, accurate coordinates led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Dik for a well placed cache. Then there was the task of getting back down safely (which we did).
Very cool location & decent sized cache. A short scramble was required and the cache easily found. TFTC
Found out with Beary Organised & Grandson Banjo. A bit of a climb but worth it for the view . TFTC TNLNSL
Found this with CherryRose and Banjo. Bit of a rough climb up along the geo trail. TFTC TNLNSL
Passing by today, so stopped for a look. A wonderful bit of history here - sad they don't build them like this anymore. Took lots of photos and then made the climb. Bridge guardian scared the heck out of me when I first saw it! Had a search around and nice large container was found. TNLN SL Thanks for the cache.
Initially spooked by the doll in residence we recovered, admired the road view and logged. Great spot.
Headed to Nuri to try on tops for JLWE; picked up a few on the way. Nice climb; strange doll!
Off on a day trip with sabsypat and BratKat to put an order in for the JLWE but of course we made a few detours on the way there and back
we all really enjoyed this one
Thanks

SA Sewer Rats, Brisal5 and Owl combined their DNF lists, came up with a master plan and set out to rectify past mistakes. This wasn't one of them, but a cache Owl has often driven past thinking 'one day'. Today she had a geotool in tow and he was deployed up the slope to the cache.
Out with an Owl and a Starfish, on mystery tour.
We were turning DNF's into smileys.
We stopped here today to find a cache.

out with rod81w for the day. After finishing the 2 OTD series we slowly cached our way back home. Nice sized cache up there. Can't see any trains coming in the near future either.
Out with Sir_spectre exploring the dusty tracks. Today we targeted OTD June and September and any others we came across
We searched high and low and the hint made no sense once the cache was found

Great cach. Easy to find. Great one for us newbees as we were just tootling past on our bikes
Definitely a favourite for such in interesting spot to explore. Pity the couldn't make the train line last and connect it with the city somehow. Thanks for taking us here today
Tough slippery climb but lots of fun. The geokids want more caches like this and insist on giving it a favourite point. Tftc.
