Logs
Log has been moved/Destroyed and physical markers apparently changed by Local Council. I will inspect when I am up that way again shortly
This cache has been destroyed and some of the key features have been moved by the local council. When I am up there next I will recalibrate the instructions and hopefully get it active again, however till then Sorry but it is disabled till further notice
For a start there is no sign at GZ with information. Many people have suggested that the cache is missing and I'll add my name to the list. Plenty of other locations in this great town for a Geocache.
I think we worked out what was required and headed to GZ after a visit to the Walkabout Creek Hotel, but came up empty handed.....
Got the final coordinates and looked for some time in what appeared to be the right area but could not find the cache.
A quick find at GZ. I had already found end co ords prior to getting to McKinlay as I knew there was no coverage here. TFTC.
There doesn’t appear to be any sign at WP1 now, and not having phone connection here, this can’t be researched while here. Needs checking by the CO.
There was nothing I could find at the original coordinates, but I had found a date before I left home. However, this didn’t appear to work out and I couldn’t locate a cache. Disappointing. This cache needs maintenance, as there doesn’t appear to be any sign at WP1 now, and not having phone connection here, this can’t be researched while here.
An iconic place to stop. We didn't take advantage of the services on offer because we were on our way through to Winton. TFTC
Found while passing through, worked out the co-ords while travelling. Got to G.Z. and thought we had made a mistake, I quick search revealed that a certian spot might need a closer look. Soon had cache signed and returned TFTC
Hot one today. The cache name had us expecting a certain road-side feature but that was not to be - looks like there used to be one here though. After a bit of scouting around we uncovered the hide. TFTC
TFTC. The sign is still missing however I was still able to work it out and eventually find the cache.
Yep, the sign is still missing but logical thinking
will get you there in the end. The container and
log were certainly in a bad way so we replaced
it with a camouflaged bison tube and new log roll.
Placed it back where it was found.
We then headed off to the Walkabout Hotel for
coffee and muffin.... can't Drink and Drive but we
did Stop and Revive.
Thanks Team Beaufort

We found the spot but the sign has gone. We found a film container and log but no top to the container. This was on the ground but it has been very wet and we couldn't sign it very well. We then hid it under rocks. We didn't have anything with us to replace the cache.
The sign at the listed coordinates is still gone.
With a guess that gave new coords in a probable location i headed out to Cannington first. On my way back i did find it not too far from where i had guessed.
Will pass again if CO wants help to find new numbers for the calculation.
Thanks for the cache

[Pink]As we head from town to town as part of our "Purposeful Meander around Oz" the Rats and the Mini Rats found this cache. Dad did most of the hard work here. Sorry for the duplicate log but it takes nothing away from the find.
Thanks for being part of our great adventure. [/Pink]

After having lunch in the popular pub we did the cache, but WP1 seems to have changed. We made a good assumption of the numbers and soon had the cache in hand.

Found on our "Making Memories" tour of Mainland Australia.
Today we travelled from Winton to Cloncurry. We found 6 caches and this was one of them.
Many thanks to all cache owners for placing and maintaining caches for our enjoyment.

Booked into the Walkabout Hotel Caravan Park, while having a drink I said to Wazza9 there is a cache in this town. We visited the town 2 years ago and I could remember where we had looked for the clues. We walked up to the statue got the clue and then set off to GZ and again the log was on the ground, signed and replaced, but the magnet is not good it could get blown off by wind from passing vehicles. TFTC
Found on the Central Aust leg of our Round Aust trip, see blog -

Found on the way to Winton from Cloncurry
We stopped here to get a pic of the 'Walkabout Hotel' Unfortunately it was closed when we went through town.

Grabbed this one on our way from Cloncurry to Longreach today. Only 2 caches for the whole way although we did get a few GCA locationless possibilities. This was a quick multi that we had researched last night to save doubling back. The cache was laying on the ground so we put it in what we thought was a suitable place. Thanks.
Lucky we had a lot of time to kill before the Walkabout Creek pub opened.
There is no sign at the co-ords however we used our initative to give us the co-ords.
There is a ststue true to the cache name in the main street which gives you the required info.

The sign is not there as it appears on Google Maps.
Went to the Pub after for some photos.
Went to the Pub after for some photos.
While on the way north we stopped in at the Walkabout Creek hotel for a cold one.
I remember visiting the pub years ago when it was in it's original position around the corner.
Had no trouble working out co-ords for this, actually I was able to do it with the help of Google before leaving home.
Arrived at GZ and added my name to the log.

Went to do this cache & nothing at above co-ordinates. Tried the obvious numbers 18 and just incase 19 and still with no luck. NO ONE has found this one since September 11. Owner needs to check if it can be done. Still fun trying. Thanks
Looked high and low for this one - On our way through a month ago and again today. Replaced with magnetic eclipse tin on sign closest to GZ ...Interesting to come back to McKinlay as we have memories of our last trip this way 7 years ago when we were stuck here for 3 days due to flooding. thanks Team Beaufort 4TC

Stopped here on Renae's birthday. Celebrated in the pub that night and camped behind it.
Had a fantastic meal at the pub. One of the best anywhere on our trip. The traveller who is employed as the chef here at the moment normally works in classy joints in the UK. Also, the bathrooms at the basic caravan park behind the pub have THE BEST bathroom ensuite style that we have seen anywhere in 9 weeks on the road.
If you stay here, you won't regret it. Even the highway noise wasn't too bad. The odd mine truck from the mine sth of town but that was about it.
Great stop for us and a cache.

1584 Found by baby&Mrs gopher at 1510.The first waypoint on the sign wasn't there(sign gone). But with the information on the cache sheet we worked it out pretty quick and made the find.SL visited cache Mover coin Tnx Team Beaufort
Found the site but couldn't access it because of long grass - I was only wearing sandals and was a bit worried about snakes.
As in the previous comment, GZ no longer exists and I had to guess but it is a bit annoying so maybe Team Beaufort could amend the directions.

Found by Sunshine Toledo and Her Majesty at 5:00pm. Sorry for the delay in logging this cache but we have been 'On the Road' for a month. We never did find any info at the listed co-ords so guessed what they might be and made the long walk to GZ where we found the cache easily. We stayed behind the establishment for the night and enjoyed the hospitality of the locals over a few drinks. TFTC
Nice easy find on my trip around Queensland for a work trip.
GZ sign post is now missing just 2 holes in the ground, but a simple quess and cache was in hand.

I've been watching this one for a while and finally had an excuse to travel this way, so I made the most of it with a quick find.

Hmmm - interesting in a big rig! Driving east, one passes through town to the data at the eastern end of town... then you have to do a u-turn and drive westwards... where one finds the same info (the signs are identical) at the western end of town... BUT at this point the only place to turn around to continue one's easterly trip is another 4-5 kms west. Damn!
Suggestion for those driving eastwards: get the early info at the western end of town, manipulate it as required THEN find the cache. Note though - there is no easy parking for big rigs!

Watch for roadtrains on this one. Stop in the Walkabout and say hi to Paul and Jill. THTC
Found on rather a warm day, had to fight the grasshoppers on the way to the cache! They were nearly big enough to carry the cache away. Cheers and thanks for the cache Team Beaufort.
Well we looked and looked and thought that it had fallen from the obvious place (which said look up). Mr Downer thought that maybe it had fallen, like a previous log had written, so we searched below but to no avail. Then I suddenly thought 'look beyond' and there it was about 8 metres from GZ out in the open. It looked like it had been whipper snipped, as all the surrounding grass appeared to be freshly cut, so signed the log. We have now replanted it so it won't blow away with the wind, but if someone has a new container to put it in so it doesn't get wet can you oblige. Thanks for an eventful cache. Yes we did stay at the pub too long and ended up camping overnight!!!!
Well have wanted to do this one for a while but alas could not find it. Looked in all directions. Even had teh clue figured out 200klm before getting to the sign to double check final GZ coord's. This was correct but did not find anything but big spiders and long grass at final coord's for cache. Might not be there however we have been foiled before. Will look for other logs to see if others find it. If not, happy to replace if needed as come through here often.
Noted the year on the way into town and did the math, yeah back a bit, but was a dead easy find..................if you read the hint upside DOWN. TNLN. SL. TFTC.
I reckon that this one could have two GZ choices, but it was an easy little multi with the right sums. I would say that the clue well and truly indicated the location of the cache, but it was just on the ground, so after putting the scribe to the paper, I rehid the cache, probably more where it was supposed to be, disadvantaging the short cachers to some extent. TFTC
A quick find after a quick beer. Not quite where I was expecting the cache. It's not so much up as down but still easy to locate.

Central Australia Trip. 6. No problems with the maths, but a little confusion at GZ, not quite as I thought, but it was there. I had a bit of a drive around the town and had a look in at the park and centre road plaque. Thanks.
