We made the effort to get up to this cache then couldn't find it. Sad Had a good look around at a few trees but no luck. Will keep a watch on it.

An afternoon on the river in the MV Grumpy with The Bug to see if I can at last get up to 100 T4.5/5 sunny coast finds and claim a certain challenge. A few we couldn’t get too due to the mud flats and draft of the boat.
Plenty of mud and mozzies around if you stayed still too long. More incentive for quick find and sign
We got up to the old sugar cane bridge and arrived back after dark. A few snags around due to the recent conditions.

Such a fun paddle this morning. It was difficult to know where to start the journey for this one from.
Upstream or downstream? it’s a bit of a standalone hide and so we chose our option and paddled our way to GZ at a fairly low-ish tide.
Arriving at GZ, we could see a rental boat had pulled up also nearby, and with their anchor lowered, were keenly fishing. I don’t think they really even noticed we were there.
We parked the kayak, and were mindful to be gentle as we pulled into the riverbank since it is inflatable. To date, over a number of years, and a few small punctures it has held itself together very well.
Mr Domsky made the retrieval, and then we slipped back into the water again and continued our journey.
Lovely to find this oldie out here on the water.
Thanks d.d.dudes

As our intrepid trio ride the tide, it’s time to note this is the lower of the high tides & not as bad as a low tide but can still be squelchy under our goal is further down stream

Out today with Green Geckos and Muggle65 for another geocaching trip. We left one vehicle Paynters Creek and one at the last cache of today. So nice long paddle. We found 23 caches. The breakdown was 19 traditional, earthcache and 3 mystery but can only claim two. So I only can claim 22 as finds. The challenge cache I don’t qualify yet. But close.

We had a good day paddling with fun company. So lot’s jokes and laughter.
Sorry for the generic log

Muggle65, Brislions and l still have the tide on our side as far as paddling goes, but the water depth is a little lacking. Oh well, some people pay money to be smothered in mud. Thank you so much for this fun cache

The tide was just high enough for E Smiley and I to get to without dealing with that horrible, stinky, suck-you-in mangrove mud. Just half a dozen careful steps to the tree. Much appreciated! And so was the tree. Love it when there are built in steps . I leaned over to check for occupants first before putting my hand in for the container. Said hello to a cute little guardian crab and did the autographing. Retraced my steps back to the yak and off we went. This cache is kinda located out there on its own. Too far from the next in either direction. So we took the easy route and launched at the bridge, making for a very quick paddle. I shall have to come back another day to explore this stretch of the river. TFTC!

Log signed, photo of Zelda the WoofyWander and the Floaty McBoaty and off we went into the sunset .. thanks for the cache.. fave point for the occasion

What a wonderful day we’ve had paddling down the river from cache to cache. This was our last cache found before we got to the boat ramp.

Arriving at gz we realized the cache could only be ‘there’. A little tree climb later and we had it it in hand. Nice. A very successful and enjoyable day!

Thank you for this cache and adding to our fun today.

After our initial plans were thwarted, our little group of geocachers (RoddyC, hatzofff, Snickersallan and GrannySmith 1947) decided to continue with our weekend away geocaching in the area. We forgo the kayaks to hire a much faster mode of transport and find geocaches along this beautiful waterway. Early 8am start and we had the tide with us which helped with retrieving some of these caches.

Enjoying our day on the river and another interesting location. Snickersallan did the honours and with our names in the logbook it was onto the next one.

Just because an event was cancelled, doesn't mean we cancel our weekend. Now what can we do. Hire a boat and do some water caches. So off up the river.

Is this it. Now it looks like a cache.

We had brought out the geo-jet for another spin this weekend when we realised that we had to give some teenagers a lift up the coast. Once upon a time our muggle teens hated caching with a passion, all of a sudden they have a new found love for it. When other parents say ‘No, I’m not driving you there,’ we are pulling out our phones when they ask if we can drive them. Where there’s caches you can always guarantee the 4ando Uber service will get you there.

We had already picked up one cache for the morning and were now jetting down the river for another. From a distance all we saw was mud, then a mirage appeared out of nowhere and a beautiful sandbank was just calling our name to pull in the jet.

We made the short stroll to GZ and then peered in an obvious spot, but what we first saw we just deemed as rubbish but on closer inspection we could see paper inside it, opening it up and it had geo-names on. We added our name as well before hitting the high seas again.

A bit windy on bay so we decided to try out the river for caching. Out with geowife Dora the Explorer CDAH55. I found a birds nest at gz. There were remains of a cache mixed up in the nest. Looks like the bird has destroyed the cache. We put a empty bottle with some paper for a log in the side of the nest.

Out and about on the water today with Dora the Explorer! and Phil Serenity picking up various caches that had not been found on previous visits to this water way.

We found remnants of a cache that was mentioned by a previous finder however we did not have a proper cache container with us but we did have paper so we wrote our names on the back of a marine map and placed it in a container that may keep the water out that we found nearby.

Down from Townsville to spend Xmas with my parents and looking to pick up some T5 caches.
Without a kayak until next week this one looked possible on foot so I parked nearby and made the 200m walk without incident. Barely even got my feet muddy.
Quickly found GZ and the reminants of the cache - the zip of the ziplock bag and a blue dinosaur. Dropped in a new log which probably won’t last more than 24 hours as I did not have a replacement container with me.
Maybe the next finder or the CO could replace.

After completing the Paynter Creek series, we were all still fairly chirpy, and decided that a paddle to one more cache couldn't hurt! Well that wasn't entirely true!
We paddled down to the Maroochy River and across the quickly dropping depths making the sand flats barely passable. The bigger and faster boats meant bigger wakes, and the wind made the water in the middle slightly choppier. Nothing too hard, but a few small heart flutters were experienced.
Up the river, under the bridge and onto the cache. A quick find, but no lid on the cache. We did the best maintenance we could, but will need some CO loving soon.
A great place to stop for a rest and morno's. Mmmmm JeznDez Brownies....delicious!
Thanks for the great cache - quicker wind assisted trip home.

Out with newly-weds the Golden Stairs, SeffNJarah, Swellerfungus & LadySim for a beautiful and not-especially-peaceful-paddle at a nearby series of caches. We missed this one while we were doing some others around here in August, and so decided it was worth the 8 km round trip paddle to come grab it today. Luckily we had the wind in our favour going one way, and the tide was in full ebb the other, so it was a lovely paddle.

Cache was quickly found but needs a bit of love; the container lid is entirely missing and the bag was in shreds. We had a spare bag, and Seff fashioned a lid from some thick bark, but it will need a replacement container soon. TFTC

With Crookedpete otherwise occupied for the day having infected chicken beak wounds treated or some such other meaningless obligation, Swellerfungus and I, the more important part of the Bromance were joined by some Bromanceketeers (Dez from JezNDez, LadySim, Stairman1 and the new Mrs Stairman1) for a paddle up Paynter Creek. LadySim insisted we leave early so she could fit in a nana nap this afternoon so leaving Brisbane at 4am we managed to make it onto the water just before 6am. With the top of the tide quickly approaching we headed straight up the creek to finish off a series of caches. With that group finished earlier than expected we decided to head up to this cache, one we had missed out on visiting on the Dunethin Rock camp weekend. It was a little further away than expected and upon reaching GZ and finding the cache, this proved a suitable spot to stop for a rest and some refueling on Dez's artery-hardening Chocolate Brownies. Was lucky to finish my course early today and meet up with CoolumRooas he was kayaking back down the river. Parked at the boatramp and paddled upstream. The wind was terrible as it was a strong westerly but I paddled the 900 metres alright. Was a closer spot to park but there is always another time.

Thanks d.d.dudes, I finally found this one on the river.

Today was my work RDO. So I decided to target three caches that I needed on the water to have an excuse to go for a paddle up the Maroochy river on such a fine winters day.

After getting a couple of caches further up the river I was contacted by dahumbug who was heading down this way to catch up as he also need to find this cache. Although the day started out picture perfect by now it has been about three hour since I set out and a head wind has come up rather strong. So it did take me some time to make my way back to rendezvous with dahumbug. Tucking in out of the wind it wasn't long and the cache was in hand. It's still better being out on the water then at work.

Woke up to a beautiful day and with not much to do and decided to head out to the Maroochy River to pick up a few high terrain caches to help us complete the 'Average Cacher' Challenge Cache.

This was our second stop for the morning and after mooring the boat nearby, we quickly had the cache in our sights. The log was quickly signed and we headed off to the next one on our list. Thank you for having placed the cache for everyone to enjoy d.d.dudes and curtdog.

This cache was a fun little find for Cassow11ry and I. Once at GZ it was a quick find, but as soon as we made it, every boat in the area decided that it would be a great time to come by and take a look at us...

This cache was part of an amazing day on the water that Cassow11ry and I had. It was a day a of mixed emotions... That could be due to the fact that we always felt like we were going against the current, wind and the way in which most Cachers would go to get where they needed to be. You know what though, after the 21km of mud, wind and caching with what is like a bull in a china shop... I had an absolute blast and can't wait until the next adventure!

Thanks for the cache d.d.dudes though this cache is really in need of a little TLC as the container is broken and wont last much longer.

Find #407

Having left the next kayak mission up to MinkosDes to organise he came up with the brilliant idea of going from Maroochy River 1 ALL the way to the Coolum Creek caches.. 10km.. what I didn't realise was that it was 10km 1 way. lol..

So launching in the VERY muddy launching point of Coolum Creek, it was soon destined that the trip was going to revolve around mud. We soon head off.. AGAINST the current and AGAINST the wind.. we both soon realised that this is a VERY long way and hard way to get to this cache.. and we soon became tired. About 3/4 of the way there we parked up in an incognito spot and took a break before making it to the final stretch. Just as we were coming up to the suspected spot.. what seemed like every boat on the river decided to anchor within viewing distance of gz.

After gliding into the spot.. before I could blink MinkosDes was out of his kayak and soon had the cache in hand. It seems like this cache may need some love as the lid is broken in 2 but the log is lovely and dry.

Thanks for the cache D.D.Dudes.. it was a long arduous trip getting here the way we did but it was still an amazing day.

OrionJ and Team RoddyC set out today to log 9 of the 11 Muru-kutchi Trail. We set off from Maroochydore in our hire boat at the turn of the tide, but when we arrived here, the tide was not high enough to get to the bank to search for this cache, so we passed it by until the return trip.

So on the way back after achieving our goals, the tide was just right for this cache to be made a smilie. After OrionJ piloted the boat near to the stump, Mrs RoddyC soon located our treasure. Log signed, smilie done! Damaged Zip bag replaced. Found at 2.00 pm on 23rd April 2015. TFTC.

With a mutual need to improve our terrain average, myself and Mr & Mrs RoddyC decided on a day out on the Maroochy River. the plan was finally sealed this morning, although the boat was already organised.

With sights set on 14 in total on the water it turned out that we secured 12 leaving the two on the smaller side creeks as I was not so confident getting the boat in and out of these (it was a rental and it was a little bit bigger then the regular kayak for this series).

-----

We attempted to get into this one this morning, however there was a distinct lack of water being low tide and all. So we decided best leave it for this afternoon, and returning on the high tide it was not a problem getting into the bank. Well we actually nosed in at the right spot and the cache was quickly found. The ziplock for the log was replaced as it was a little worst for wear and soon we were on the way.

It was an early morning for Net88 and I. We were camped very closeby and having packed up everything but the tent, leaving it up to dry, we decided to nip off for this geocache. The campground had a boatramp which made things easy.

Yesterday had been a big day of canoeing too and the little outboard had done a fair few kilometres, some of those in pretty rough water. This morning as we drifted silently near the boatramp, it just would not start. Pull, pull, pull, pull. Choke. Pull, pull, pull. Throttle. Pull, pull, pull. My arm was hurting by now. I pulled it apart, flushed it with water. Pull, pull, pull. Dammit! We conceded defeat and chose to paddle around the corner to the geocache instead. The tide was gently running in so it didn't take long.

We beached the 'Roo and Net pulled us up and began hunting. She pointed to a likely spot that I could reach and sure enough, made the find. I signed the logbook and replaced as found. Great to find a geocache that has been playing the game longer than I have! Now it was a paddle back to the campground and off for some breakfast. TFTC d.d.dudes/curtdog Smile

Oh, and it turned out the outboard just had a gutful of salt and water which we sorted out later that night with the help of Mr. WD40.

Captain Terror and I were in the area for the weekend and after packing up the stuff from inside the tent we decided to leave the tent to dry a little and go off to find this cache not far from our campsite. We put the canoe in at the boat ramp 100m or so from the tent and I kept paddling away from the rocks and bridge as the Captain tried to get the motor running. After 20 minutes or so and lots of swearing we both started paddling towards this cache.

It wasn't a long paddle and with the tide going with us we were soon at GZ. I jumped out to find the cache as the Captain had done most the work the day before. I knew where it was but I was too short to get it. The Captain hopped out and easily grabbed the container. I signed our names in the logbook and the cache was returned to it's spot before we returned to the canoe and paddled back to the boat ramp to investigate the broken outboard. Thanks for the cache d.d.dudes.

This has been on our radar for quite a while and it was decided that it would take the whole NeverLostAu team to accomplish this successfully. We were staying on the river in Maroochy CBD and took advantage of the great weather to hire a boat and enjoy some aquatic adventures! We headed upriver and did a little bit of fishing in Petrie Creek first. Not even a bite so we decided to head further up where we thought we'd have better luck with a different type of quarry.
The little boat was comfortable enough as we made our way up the calm wide river and it was a good high tide just after full moon so we had no trouble with navigating the channel. As we approached we could see a good place to make our landing a bit further up so we made for that spot. I secured the craft and we all hiked in to GZ through some pleasant mangrove and salt grass vegetation. We tried not to tread on the mangrove roots by making our way through the she-oaks and grass. The tide was just above GZ today but we avoided getting too wet and traversed the last bit of challenging terrain with ease. The youngest of the team nimbly reached the hiding spot and enjoyed looking at the swaps, taking out a very corroded coin and leaving some phonecards with appropriate pictures on them!
Thanks d.d.dudes for the fun and we are proud that we all made it to a Terrain 5 geocache!

After purchasing a canoe specifically to go after another cache, The Young 1z were keen to snap up a few other caches that were suitable finds using such a vessel.

On a mission to snap up the few water accessible caches in the river adjacent to Bli Bli, we set out from the near-by boat ramp and paddled our way up the river.

Once ashore it was a short walk and an easy find.

I had bought my kayak up from Brisbane whilst camping in a caravan park at Cotton Tree. It was a miserable day and eveyone was sititng around like Brown's cows. By thunder, I didn't drag the boat all this way to sit on my rear end!

I decided to tackle this cache. It truly was a miserable day.. Blowing and raining - but I thought I'll go anyway. I set off downstream a tad and made my way to GZ. I found a suitable pulling up spot and started the hunt. I was only 20m away. I zeroed in on the beast and found it almost instantly. An enjoyable little adventure and cache.
