Found on a sunny but cool day with richlink as part of our annual caravan geocaching trip. We've enjoyed exploring this beautiful area. Thank you, wallys wood yard, for showing us around.
Travelling with iluvtrekking on a caching foray in SA. Found on our way as we made for Melrose on a sunny but cool day. Certainly busy on the tracks today. The hint threw us off but after reading past logs we realised the container was inside the hut. Thanks wallys wood yard
Amazing location and not as difficult to find as we thought so don't put yourself in danger to get it.
Could have saved a lot of time and effort if I had read previous logs. Once that was established, it was an easy find.
Found it, but the hint isn't much help. Thanks for bringing us up here, to enjoy the late afternoon view. With Peckman2008.
In a slightly different place to when we found it last time but still a great cache none the less! Always great to take the harder climbing trails up to the lookout, especially when you’re doing it with an 8-year-old!
I was trying not to be blown off, in a stiff breeze, checking out olive trees. Took a break to read some past logs. Then had the cache in hand rapidly! Glad it was just my cap blown down the hill.
Wilburs watch was an interesting memorial in a beautiful spot. Once again, geocaching has taken me to an interesting, previously unknown, part of the state.

A trip to Melrose is usually filled with a mixture of ourdoor pursuits - camping, hiking, mountain bike riding and of course, finding the occasional cache.
Today, ww targeted some of the caches around the trails - A cache is always a good excuse to stop and rest!
What a fantastice spot, but quite a climb to get up there. Took a while to locate, as the GPS was pointing elsewhere and that definitely was not a large cache. Found it eventually, then enjoyed the view.

Slogged it up big Rhua with the keen mountainbiker found some good views, worth the ride up. Now for a fun ride down. TFTC
The hint had me looking in the wrong place forever. Sat down to shelter from the wind. Bingo. TFTC
Finally made it back here on our weekend escape to Melrose !
Enjoyed our climb back up the hill and the cache was located in the first place we looked .
TNLNSL.
Spent some time taking photo's, all the gums looking very green [^].
This is a great location. Thanks Wallys Wood Yard.

Found It!
A short but steep walk up this hill to some great views from the top! Took me a while to find the cache but after reading some past logs I looked in the right place.

Day 8
Going from Whyalla to Melrose. I stopped in port augusta on the way through and did a 11.2 km return kayak. The tent is now up and too early for tea, so i decided to go for a walk. 6th cache before dinner. walked in my flip flops to the cache. It wasn't my best idea but i did get there. I walked from the nearby cache so i walked straight up the steep hill. I didn't see any olive trees but i did find a unique style of stone hut at gz. i am assuming it wasn't there when the original cache was place. the co ords put you in the corner of the hut and that is where the cache is. I found a lunch box sized container with cracks every where and no lid. i replaced it with a freddo type screw top lid container, painted black. It's a small but all i had. think spor. Nice views and nice hut. Found a less steep route on the way back. fav point. took photos.

While driving the electronic bicycle I stop by with my fellow muggle friend and made the find. Great place TFTFun
This cache has obviously resurfaced now that the folly in memory of William McCallum has been completed. A great view of Melrose and the surrounding area could be had. It was a lovely day for a walk up the hill following a few days of tornados, storms and flooding in the area. No longer under the olive tree and look in and out of the folly and you will find it!
hmmmm.... We made this one a little interesting for ourselves as we took wrong track lol. Tftc
WOW ! What a fantastic place [^].
Obviously, the memorial and 'play folly' have been installed after this cache was placed, but they only enhance the location and views from bald hill .
Not trying to mention the steep walk up, then strolling across the ridge line from the mine track, we enjoyed coming here immensely and would even like to give this cache a favourite point - if we could for a DNF .
Looked all around and even extended our search area, but to no avail . As mentioned previously, it looks like the olive trees have been cut down, but they're starting to grow back again. If someone else can find this one, or the CO replaces it, we'll be back .
Thanks Wallys Wood Yard.

Found the olive tree, but no cache. I think it's missing judging by all the DNFs.
Great day for a ride though and what a view.

Gosh !! The temperature had soared today !!
The midday heat made the slog up Bald Hill a torture test
Well worth the effort for the amazing views at the top [^]
Sadly the olive trees have been cut down, poisoned and burnt !!
Not surprising given that they are a declared noxious weed !!
And somebody has built a folly up here !! [:o]
So I guess the cache was found and carted off somewhere, or maybe thrown on the fire !!

Unfortunately the olive trees have been cut down and burnt on the top of Bald Hill to make way for the construction on William McCallum's folly and so I am guessing that the cache has gone the same way. We searched around the remaining stumps but couldn't find anything.\
Riding the Mawson Trial form Blinman to Adelaide, finding a few caches on the way. Several here while waiting for the fantastic bike shop here to repair our bikes.
I had originally come to Melrose to go mountain bike riding with a group from of friends. I brought my lad (The Scarlet Manuka) along as he likes riding too, but we also have friends that live here and he loves catching up with their boys. So we went for a bit of a ride first thing then I left him with our friends so he could enjoy some time with the boys and went off for another ride. I then went to have lunch with our friends and it was while we were cooking the BBQ that I noticed I had a spoke that was pulling through my rear wheel. So instead of riding in the afternoon our friend (Neeko73) and I decided to take the boys for a walk up to the mines and also grab a couple of caches. So after grabbing the cache at the mine we wandered across to this one. My lad went down to the tree and grabbed the cache so we signed the log and sent him back in to re-hide it. TFTC.
Another one found with fishingmad, The Scarlett Manuka and my three geolads. What an insane gully wind hammering up the hill. Awesome view.
Found with Jackson miller great cache although we took the hard way

A very nice walk from the caravan park along the creek ending up at the bald hill look out. Thanks wallys wood yard.
Extreme Cache!!!!! When we got to the hill we took 30mins to climb to the top. When we got to GZ we saw a more easier track to GZ. As we found the cache Lisa says, "Well if we didn't find this cache it would of been a long hike for a nice view but no cache." After we left GZ we took heaps of photos over looking the view. We took the White Bunny travel bug. SL TFTC
Note to self: Always read the cache description before heading off on your merry way ... particularly where hills are concerned. I needed to be a mountain goat to succeed on the route I took. But the view was worth it!
Day 7 of our 3 week driving holiday from Perth to Adelaide and back, and our 4th day in Melrose.
Out on a ride this afternoon, I had scouted out the location of this cache prior to leaving, so I was able to make a quick find while the boys headed down the hill.
Not long after finding this cache I crashed on Hellrose and ended up with an inch of a stick inside my shin. Ouch
Thanks for the cache wallys wood yard!

Grabbed this one while hanging the last of our controls for the SA Rogaining Champs. Jogged across the ridge from ALL MINE. Great spot, sensational view. TFTC wallys wood yard.
A well named cache with views of Melrose and beyond. This cache is on the Mawson Trail so you could come on your bike if you like, we walked a good work out!!! Thanks for the cache.
Geohubby did the mountain goat thing on this while geomum and geoson(3) stayed at bottom of hill. Even geodad states fitness is a factor at this one. Took the hard way up but the easy way down. No swaps TFTC and the spectacular views. Nice quiet area, full of wildlife, will return another day with the extended family for a picnic lunch I think. Nearby tin for coming down hill looks great unfortunately didn't try out today.
Started at the monument and strung together a walk to hidden hollow, All mine and then olives with a view before returning to the car at the monument.
The best views were definately from here [^] and it was a great way to get the blood circulating before breakfast today!
TNLNSL, Cheers.

It started out as a nice fine day. Guess What!!!. Just as I got to the cache, it rained, didn't it. Good views. Worthy of another visit, just for the vistas.
Saw some kangaroos on the way as it was getting near dusk. They weren't at all scared - probably used to the mountain bikers that inhabit the area. Left an elephant because they don't get up here very often and a klem bear and took one of the many pens. Lovely view. Thanks Wally
Found while walking around the Melrose area on a rest day, it was nice to be off the bike for a while.
Dropping in a GC to help it meet its goal.
This cache was found while riding a mountain bike 900kms over two weeks from Adelaide to Blinman along the Mawson Trail.

Followed the arrow straight to the cache. Doh! That was a real heart starter at the end. Impressive views.
We continued on from the other nearby cache. A pleasant uphill walk - not too steep with a cool breeze and great views to keep us happy. Nice hide. Thanks Wallys Wood Yard
Found@14:40, on our Melrose Escape #6 of 14 (Melrose Nature Walk), really windy here today but a great lookout with views across Melrose and down into that hidden valley behind. Took a Pen and Left a Popping Turtle. Thanks WWY, Cheers 'scargoes (P&F)
The best cache of the day. A great walk with fantastic views of green rolling hills. Won’t be long ‘till they’re dead again though. No swaps, but left a TFTC card. Great spot and TFTC Wally’s Wood Yard
#31 of 36 around Mt Remarkable/Pt Augusta today.

Nice views of Melrose all lit up!

Yay! FTF!! Was a lovely evening for a walk. Deafened by the flock of what must have been 1000 galahs, sulphur-cresteds and corellas.
