Made my way through the pre-dawn fog, past the lyrebirds, wallabies and a ridiculously-big-deer, to the trailhead. Decided against sending the geo-Corolla up the path, grabbed my hiking poles and headed up up up!
The path was as sticky and muddy as I remembered from last year but i managed to squelch-squerch my way up to the neighbouring cache and then down to the GZ. A quick search and eventually SUCCESS! The well hidden and bone-dry cache was just waiting for me.
Heading back down the hill, a pair of trail bikers whizzed up the hill - making light work of my sweaty efforts.

Had a great time finding caches and visiting areas in the Bunyip State Forest that I haven't been too. Such a lovely area, and looks like a number of these roads had been maintained recently. 7 finds and only 1 DNF, and worked out the entry points for a few other geocaches.
After parking to check out "The Rocky Part", it was pretty obvious that it is a section that I wouldn't want to drive on, but Smokey Bear was keen to do. But before we could continue, we had to search for the cache. Just as I was stepping over the first green part, I looked down and saw that I was stepping over the ammo can too. Guessing it was about 1 season and / or 1 pass of the next rangers clearing the path before it was completely buried. Signed and returned slightly higher and less exposed, except for geocachers, who should find it very quickly.
Thanks for the cache Team Crackers
Hunter
The cache was found in great condition. Another satisfying find for us on our Sunday hike.
fav from me because something different one but too rough LOL
Thanks Team Crackers for the cache.
Please stay home and be Safe.
Dad was out solo chasing a T5 or two for an AHomburg Challenge, but without ladder or yak all he could do was ride Shanks’ pony up the hill.
Departed the suburbs in the wee hours, arrived at base of the 4wd track just on dawn to find the gate firmly locked. Ahh well, the corolla probably would’ve struggled anyway.
Sticky squelchy mud dogged every step and often ended up slipping back down the hill, making the first km the toughest I’ve done in a while. Strangely though I loved every minute of it, listening to the birds calling.
Located the neighbouring cache and headed downhill for this bonus. But that’s where the troubles began.
There’s just so many large logs in this region, each overgrown and undergrown by sword grass. Plus the iPhone started to run low on charge and couldn’t settle on a Gz.
After a solid 30mins had to admit defeat. Cache is probably here but it’s just too good today. TFTC and the workout
We will check it as soon as we can get in.
Then we were told that another date had been set so it was on again. We had been watching the weather, and although it didn't seem to bad, we weren't sure if it would be called off again. It wasn't, YAY. We met up with two other vehicles at a fuel stop, struggled our way through Friday afternoon traffic and road words and were soon on the road to adventure. It was a shame that the 4th vehicle couldn't make it (but I'm sure the CO has done these tracks more than once.)
There were some awesome views and great tracks. There was only one that was undriveable, (in everyone's opinion) although an alternate route was chosen for another cache. Considering that there had apparently been rain only a couple of days earlier, we were lucky with the tracks. We only found one of them to be a little slippery but no worries.
A winch was needed in one place but nothing major and no damage or harm done so really doesn't count.
I had a fantastic afternoon out so a huge thank you to our awesome travelling companions for the invite and another huge thanks to the CO's for placing these caches.
Really hope that we can get out to do some more.
Definitely getting rocky here! We all found a flat, non rocky piece of track to park on and made our way to the cache, well eventually once our GPS's behaved themselves.
Thanks very much Team Crackers for the effort put into both series, for us and others to enjoy.
The first day, I met my sister in Bendigo as she waited for her semi to be unloaded and reloaded, so we went op shopping in the meantime[:X] From there it was off to Melbourne and the group find of the Victorian Premiers whereigo which had taken me to many spots in Victoria [^] Then the group slogged our way up a slippery, muddy slope [|)][xx(] to get a couple of simple drive by 4 x 4 caches (when the tracks are open) before caching on into the night
I made a find on a previous DNF at Moe then it was off to Clean Up a Creek at Traralgon [^] followed by finding some bloody good caches (both containers and reasons for placement) around the area with leafotwind, NoWorries andAlphaDeltaIndigo [:X], chatting to Crisp image as the group found Wherever I Lay My Hat before Rex and I left the group, walking in the Crinigan Road Bushland Reserve at dusk[^], seeing a huge Dr21 dredger once used for coal mining and now placed at Morwell, finding a tiny grave in the middle of a shopping area , finding my 1st 3D printed cache container and then it was off to the Lakes Entrance area and wandering out on the peninsula[^]
Seeing old RAAF airfields and radio bunkers, seeing tiny country towns and meeting some great people (including an almost muggle woman and her children in Mallacoota where she had previously looked for 1 cache and who may now get into geocaching properly [^]), seeing the sun rise while surrounded by kangaroos and standing on the eastern coast of Vic and chatting with Rollmatrix throughout my time in Mallacoota and Genoa
Spending a few hours chatting with a lovely truckie, Michael [:X], who was on a wood chip run to Canberra as we traversed the countryside in the dark (after I had apologised for slowing down his fully laden rig as Harry crawled his way up a hill ) then I pulled into Cooma for a break and an EC and also found a cache, Southern Cloud, about the aircraft accident and then accidentally ended up at another memorial cache, Southern Comfort, Southern Cloud or Southern Storm, later on in the trip
Seeing brumbies amongst the snow along the edge of the road at night in the mountains in NSW [^], seeing a thermal pool early in the morning with steam rising from it in the cold air and water plants growing up from the sandy bottom [^], seeing the grave of the alleged Man from Snowy River while finding the multi The Man from Snowy River - HCPPP [^] and then chatting to SciFiRulz who I managed to sneak in a quick visit with before heading home and finding The Highest Railway Station on the way
Over the 8 days there was 9 DNFs (although I did manage to find a few on my 2nd attempts ), 1 CITO event attended and a total of 111 cache finds including 3 FTFs
As I am about 8 months behind in logging, I'm resorting to template logs to catch up.
My heartfelt thanks to the COs who have placed some tricky, funny, exercise required, scary, interesting and devious caches in some amazing spots! [^]
Rex and I have had some amazing adventures and enjoyed some incredible moments thanks to this fantastic hobby

Out this way for an adventure AND a celebration. This time it was to celebrate leafotwind's 3000th find milestone. It was a day planned over the last few weeks and a perfect day it was. Winter yes, sunny, also yes. What better day to spend with a few caching buddies. There was of course leafotwind as well as AlphaDeltaIndigo, nirgalagrin, Locus Cache and also we had n0w0rries +Wife as well as 3 geomutts.
After getting all the way up to Annie on foot, this one was a walk in the park.
Many thanks to Team Crackers for the cache. TNLN.

As ahomburg was sure he'd already visited this one, I picked my way down the treacherous slope while he waited for the rest of our party to reach the top of Gentle Annie.
This time, there was no rival to claim the nineteen months of new appreciation for the cache, which was safe and sound in its hiding place.
Thanks, Team Crackers... This pair of caches has done wonders to boost the overall terrain value of my finds.
Huh... It turns out that ahomburg had not, in fact, already found this cache, so I met him coming down as I was starting the return journey. So back I came.
In the end, the entire group made the extra effort for this smiley as well. I'm proud of them all.
And we managed to get everyone back to the vehicles with a bit of daylight to spare. Thanks, n0w0rries, for making the executive decision to climb this hill.
---
On a mission to celebrate leafotwind's 3000th cache with the finale to an epic chase around the state, I found myself riding shotgun in locus cache's infamous Harry, in convoy with the milestone achiever (of course), ahomburg, n0w0rries +Wife, AlphaDeltaIndigo, and sundry canines.
Half of the time, I wouldn't have been able to tell you where I was, but we celebrated in style, with a tree climb or two, a huge workout up Gentle Annie and some fantastic caches on the 4X4 tracks and forest roads east of Cockatoo.

The bonus? 19 months of unlove for the NSW unloved challenge.
Caching buddies: leafotwind, locus cache, nirgalagrin, ahomburg, n0w0rries +wife
After LOTW's 3k find...
Gentle Annie was not so gentle on my legs... heard of jelly legs? Nearly had those! At the top of the hill, someone mentioned another gc at a shorter distance from our gorgeous view..
Getting to the cache was gentle as it was downhill.. nirgalagrin beat us all to it! Now the trek back up and down to the car. On foot! Still...a fantastic memory! I'll be back soon to get the other caches in the area!

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.
Out for a day drive with hubby, nothing planned, nowhere to be... After driving up through Jindavick hubby was itching for some 4WD-ing.. A quick search had us heading for this series. The tracks were amazing, although a little hair raising in parts... Hubby handled them all with confidence while I held on for dear life! The kids giggled and laughed the whole drive.
Thanks Team Crackers for placing this cache :)
TNLN, thanks Team Crackers (F=17447 H=129).
We continued up and got to a steep hill that was deeply rutted which with some damp parts meant we would not get up so double back and picked up the rest of the first series in reverse being Homeward bound (quick find), Annie (certainly well cover log - how did we miss such a large log to start with) and The Rocky Bit (quick find). All logs signs and caches re hid. TFTC
Since my car would have no chance at all to get over the totally chewed up bit of muddy track further down the hill, I had to walk. It was quite nice with good views over Gippsland. The cache was found without problems despite me using an iPhone instead of a real GPSr.
Thanks and cheers

Out for a bit of 4W Driving withe the GLW & our new Toy (1996 Suzuki Vitara) which made it up the track with eas.
A nice easy find after finding a suitable parking spot atop a "Big Rock" that had been not long climbed by a big wheeler before we got there & let his marks where he climbed up & over.

Was in the area (400m away) logging the Annie cache and had a nice easy walk over to this one. It's a great series Team Crackers and I will be back to do some more before the tracks are all opened and the 4WDs and trail bikes are allowed to ruin my walking tracks.

Maintenance visit today with a group to find new co ordinates after the Dozer moved the original GZ.
Many thanks to Team Crackers for these caches, and to Team Oaky for replacing this one.
TFTC and my brother for stopping his motorbike ride to look for strange little boxes in the bush.
beautiful part of the bush
some friends
and a geocache or two what a great day.....
tfftc
this one took a lot longer than it should have
So the boys decided they wanted to go for a 4x4 drive and i piped up saying i know a place we can go
Lucky for me they all have very capable 4x4s without them this series would be a very long walk or ride , but no where near as much fun !! So our trip was under way this was our first cache of the day as it was the closest to home .Cache was found after a short search one of the easiest finds for the day . The rocks could be tricky to traverse but the boys had fun doing the hard way and the chicken track[even the chicken track could be challenging] TFTC some swaps were made by the kids we will be back along these tracks i'm sure
IF ANYONE IS ATEMPTING THESE CACHES I DEFINITLY RECOMEND YOU KNOW YOUR VEHICLE AND IT'S LIMITS !!! I DON'T THINK I WOULD EVEN ATTEMPT THESE IN THE WET UNLESS YOU LIKE WINCHING ALOT!!!
[Purple] Legs aren’t so fresh now! [/Purple]
It seemed a long way to this cache, as there was more going away from GZ than going towards it and more pushing going on than peddling
The gates might be closed but that doesn’t seem to stop the motorbikes as quite a few past me as I got near GZ
This time at GZ it wasn’t the regrowth that was the problem it was the lack off it as it appeared the area had been cleaned up by a dozer
Searched all the locations that matched the clue and some, it wasn’t until I read the resent logs that I realized what was up! A phone call to the CO was needed to eventually get me over the line with this one. Took some new co-ords, which are not that indifferent to the posted ones. May I suggest the clue be updated to “The large log”
A very big Thx TeamCrackers for helping me out with this one
[Purple] Mille Grazie
Cheers

Sorry for the delay.
We do not know if they have opened the tracks as yet but it has been too wet for us to even think about going out.
We had a friend who tried some of the tracks out that way a couple of weeks back and they spent a lot of time recovering his vehicle just trying to get back to the road.
Now work has got very busy (Christmas carols etc) and we will not have a chance to get out there until mid January.
If possible we would like to wait until then.
If this is a problem we are happy to archive both these caches and re list them in January when work drops off a bit.
Either way is good for us but as much as we want to get back there unfortunately work has to come first.
Cheers.
As with 4x4 1 Be Gentle with Annie we were out of the state for 2 months earlier this year and now with the unusually large amount of rain we have had the tracks into this area are either too wet and not passable or are closed until November to prevent damage.
We have the cache ready to replace but it will most likely not be possible after winter.
If we find out different we will attempt to replace before then.
Cheers
We will get out there as soon as we get our Landcruiser back on the road
A day out motorbike riding in the bush and why not find some caches while we were there, I had my GPSr in my pocket so it was a bit hard to see it there and we went right passed The Begining and I had also gone passed The Rocky Bit but stopped because my mate had become stuck, I took out my GPSr and realized that he was stuck about 10m from the cache so we had a look and came up with the goods.
Thanks Team Crackers for this cache.
Thanks for bringing us here. The blackness was really starting to rub off on the kids by this stage too...
Not so gentle in my opinion.
Did enjoy the walk in to both of these caches.

We had to move this one as the fires destroyed the original GZ.
we dnf on this one we had a pretty good look but you never know it may still be there
We realise this cache has been off line for awhile but after the fires of Black Saturday we are waiting for Parks Victoria to reopen the tracks.
We have been told the area of the 4X4-1 series could be open by Christmas but at the moment the public is not allowed in at all.
If it can not wait that long we will replace them as soon as we can get in and relist the series.
Thanks
Mark and Diane.
Thanks for your coopperation
nice spot today

Thanks Team Crackers and every one else for making it such a great day.
Ok - the tyres need to be deflated to make it easier to get over these rocks. And after a lot of guidance from those who had recently done it, a map was laid out over the terrain and the rocks were conquered with no damage to the vehicles. What a relief! 16 years ago it was a completely different story with sill damage due to low clearance of the vehicle.
At this stage someone in the group said "gee - we are doing pretty well so far. We may be able to do some extra caches after wards!" Famous last words?
Thanks Crackers - you did this in the dry didn't you? Please say you did!
TNLN except some coins.
We headed off from the last “beginning†cache and it soon became apparent that we needed to be in 4wd mode with a little pressure off the highway tyres to help. This was only a 5 minute pit stop and with lowered tyre pressure and low range in gear we headed up the first of many wet muddy tracks.
We made our way over the odd rock and at one stage I thought this was why this cache got its name until………!
We were now greeted by a true rocky outcrop that needed to be assessed for the best way to climb it/them. There was 3 different possible paths to the first section and the decision was made to try the left first. First try hung up on a rock, second try drivers side in air, third try spinning, fourth try spinning, fifth try bashed and stuck on boulder- reversed OK.
Time to try the middle section but this turned out to be a bad idea after ripping off a mud flap and bashing the driver side suspension on a rock that bared many 4wd scars, time to reassess the situation.
It was apparent we were not going to get up by normal 4wd driving so we decided to make a man made set of rock steps on the right hand side to climb the ledge. This turn out to be a winner and after 2-3 goes the back of the Hilux bashed and bounced as it followed the front up and over the ledge. First Section Complete. The rest of the Rocks were relatively easy and straight up the middle proved to be the best and hassle free.
Needless to say the cache was found on perfect coordinates and Our 150th FTF was found and logged which was one of the hardest FTF to reach so far.
Our Thanks to Team Crackers for the cache, truly excellent and a great demonstration of bush caching, highly recommended.
