Out with Cats&Dragons confirming more details for the 2016 Mega in Turangi and Taupo this weekend, We had quite a few to target on this side of the lake, so headed this way for the rest of the afternoon, Went to GZ and found the hint item, but no cache, spread out and searched the area a bit more but no success.
Took a little while to pinpoint. Seems to be no marker pole now. Water in cache but log only a little damp. Lovely spot but not picnic weather today. Respectable public toilets at car park were appreciated. TFTC
Not relying on the co ords as much as the hint we had the cache in hand quick time.Awesome spot with real friendly bird life. Thankyou.
Here we stopped for overnight parking. On a walk we could find the cache.
Thanks for hiding!
Thanks for hiding!
Early morning stint, no-one around. Found with a bit of trouble, always think that these caches are below river flood levels, hence looking in the wrong place until the specific plant was sighted. TFTC
Was meant to get a early start and get a full days caching in but had a bit of a lie in and didn't get out the door till mid morning. Managed to find all that I wanted and ended up with 22 caches for the day. Had fallen in love with the area once the day was done, thanks to all the cache owners for placing the caches and bringing me here.
Didn't take to long to track down the cache. Left a couple of trackables. A few muggles about when I was heading back to the car so I had timed it quite nicely. TFTC.

Slipped on the bank but found a golf ball (!!!) as a result to bring back to USA for my son. Lovely spot even in the rain.
Great spot on a very raw and rainy day. Thanks to Paws44 for jumping while I stay dry and drive
Found it, TFTC

Quick find for bubble on the wall back to the car. The ducks thought we had food for them - but we didn't. TFTC cheers pinetree and sunrise.
The kids had a good day finding geocaches in Kuratau today. This was the fourth of the day, and was the only one that provide to be more than a few minutes to find. We first found a wasp nest in a "hole" around 10m from the cache, so be aware that there is a ground wasp nest under the tree closest to the pole. TFTC
We arrived in the gloom of late evening and were wondering if we would manage to find its hiding place. Thanks to the hint and a little torch on my key ring we managed to discover its location. Unfortunately the plastic bag holding the log is not secure and the log book is pretty saturated. We replaced the bag with a new zip lock, but it is difficult to write on the log now and will most likely need replacing. Met a few people out walking, and stopped to say hello to a border collie. We paused to see if any of the fishermen in the river mouth were having any luck, but we didn't glimpse any action. TFTC

Wow, what a beaut spot - thanks for bringing me here. A nice big cache and a good hint that helped me out. Luckily there were no muggles about so I was able to search in peace. The log book was damp but still writable.

There was a large family group at the Kuratau river mouth this morning enjoying the sunshine and doing a bit of kayaking. At first we thought it might not be possible to retrieve the cache with them so close, but soon found we were out of sight at GZ. The lake level is high, so we had to approach cautiously to keep our feet dry. We spotted the hint items almost immediately and soon had the cache in hand. A nicely hidden cache in a lovely spot, thanks.
New Zealand 2103 trip for the Auckland Mega at Albany. Day 9, Day trip around Lake Taupo. Plenty of prickly trees to worry about in here while searching for this one., I think I was a bit lucky in the end. Thanks.

Cashe very well hidden. Almost gave-up but previous logs gave me a little encouragement.
Approach to cashe was through a very soggy patch - so wear suitable footwear!

Second time trying for this cache. The first was in summer where there were hundreds of sunbathing muggles. Now its autumn/winter, theres hardly a soul. Cache a bit wet inside so drained the water. Recruited a couple of the army men from inside too. TFTC!
Wet day at the river mouth. Easy find. The duck-muggles in the river were telling the world we were there! TFTC
Easy find! Dropped Kuratau Ken TB off to start his Journey, picked up Stoke NZ to Stoke UK TB. TFTC

a great day to be by the lake.. and an added bonus finding the cache with ease. + TB T4tc
Glorious spot on a still sunny day today. Clear water, birds singing, fantastic. Cache safely located in its spot. All well with the world. TFTC
Nice walk over from Pukawa. Saw an owl on the way home.....in daylight (see posted photo).
Found it and exchanged a few treasures. Took the dvd that was in there, which didn't work much to the kids disappointment!
Nice place to be away from busy places even in not so flash weather. I see why its so popular here in holiday season.
Thnks for bringing me here; tftc

Nice hide beside the river. First time this far up the west side and have since learnt that the river is kayakable for quite some distance so thanks for bringing us here James McK.
Quick find on a surprisingly quiet afternoon with only the ducks to see, with NZLats, the geomutt + family. TFTC.
Nice walk around to this cache. Found with Virtual Allie, GeoMutt and family. No sign of TB. TFTC
successfully retrieved with family playing on the beach right where the cache was. Had to wait to replace cache. Thanks for the cache
Awesome spot! Kids loved finding this one [:o)]. Picked up the travel bug and left a yellow gem.
Took a little bit of time to find this & eventually used hint (GPS was playing up though) TFTC
Lovely area, I couldn't resist a paddle, even though the water was FREEZING. Had to use the hint as I broke a couple of dead tree branches climbing around. *Oops*
