No luck it would be great if we got a hint.

No luck this time. Will try again!

Another very busy day in the Brisbane area. I headed out early to get as many caches as possible in St.Lucia then across the river to Dutton Park to clean that area up and then I got collected by Local geocaching connoisseur RoddyC on one of his maintenance runs in the Springwood area.
This was the first I attempted today and I'm fairly sure I know where it should be and isn't.

Searched high + low but not to be found...

Searched for a long time but could not find it,

I last visited this cache a number of years ago but it was missing in action on that occasion. Today my daughter was taking me on a tour of the campus and I made sure to pop past for another go. Found the cache and attachment straight away, laying on the ground. Seems the glue has come adrift. After signing the log I tucked the cache away where it will hopefully remain until maintenance can be done. TFTC

Quick find, like the title! While signing I put my sunglasses on the GZ object to sign and forgot about them. Luckily still there when I checked again - could be the next thing, sunglasses caching. A friend has started gnomecaching (dot org) so why not?

Nicely hidden but a quick find in the end

While at UQ exploring the museums today, I wondered around to this cache. It was muggle free, so it was a quick retrieve. I went and sat on the bench seat to fill in the log and a gardener appeared to water the plants!!! Thirty minutes later she had finally finished her watering and left the area so I could hide the cache in place!! Luckily I had snacks and a book, so I just looked like a student on a break!! TFTC

We had just explored the Uni and thought we would grab this cache on our way out. With there being no parking nearby, Mr SP tossed us to the curb and we went looking while he stayed with the car. Mrs SP found it after I deemed it wasn't there as I was moving the wrong part.

Wednesday. What an amazing piece of equipment this one is! Soon had the cache in hand with Mrs 4ando today and we signed the log. Spotted after a second look Razz

This was the 8th of 11 caches found on today's trip.

Thanks ***helyl***, for showing us this place. Smile

03-Aug-19
This was our first real exploration and walk around the uni and we were drawn to the boarding houses/campuses out the back. We weren't sure what they were for and so the googling began. That didn't help illuminate answers to our questions until a party of ladies came out of one building with some tour guide who took them to a paper-bark tree and showed them why it is called that by ripping of some bark. It then became clear that these buildings were to house environmental extremists.

We kept walking to visit the witch's cauldron and to see what trouble was doubling and toiling. My first assumption was that we had stumbled on to a party zone and that people sit around the boiler like its a camp fire. But then I had to question myself because who is imbibing alcohol on a university campus? .......

It was Mrs Woodyrothwell that found the cache and log because I was more focused on who leaves a glass coffee cup out on its poor lonesome. tftc

3/8/19 1:17 pm Find #2628
Over at UQ for the afternoon with Omen Innuendo for a migraine study he is participating in, and I had some time to kill waiting. So of course I was going to go on the hunt for some caches I still had outstanding around here.
A short wander from his building soon had me here - it’s nice and quiet here on the weekend, and I soon spied the interest item where I needed to look, and made a quick find.
I was surprised to discover woodyrothwell had been here just before me too, tho I must say he really should take his evidence with him when he goes (a beer bottle and coffee cup).
A very cool object to bring me to - reminds me somewhat of the movie Return To Oz.
Thanks for the cache helyl & rachy.

Found with StreetWalkerNZ on a lovely Brisbane winters day (which was quite warm enough for a couple of Kiwis Smile exploring the beautiful UQ campus.
We had looked for this cache on a previous visit, back in 2014, but it was missing at the time. Good to turn a frown into a smile today, a cheeky hide on an interesting object. TFTC.

Not many people about today being a Sunday, so we could park pretty close to the cache. It was a quick find but reattaching was a tad troublesome as the velcro no longer adheres.
We made a plan and cache is safely tucked in.

The tape holding this in place is no longer working. I found it resting in a nice little hide and replaced as found.
Liked that this was near the engineering building. A long time ago I studied engineering but at the University of Melbourne.

Hatzofff and I are with Deaf Phantom, E_Smiley and Snickersallan caching before an event at UQ.

Looked in a few wrong places before Dead Phantom was on to it.

On my circuit along the river before the event, this cache popped up on the radar. Wandered over to GZ and located the copper high pressure gadget thingy

Couldn’t see or feel anything so looked at previous logs and then found the cache on the ground. After logging, it would not stay put on the gadget so I replaced it directly underneath as found. Someone at the event said they’d managed to find its anchor point

Scuttling around the uni in the darkness again on another new virtual quest and realized I needed a trad for today. Hmm, think this one could be doable at night so off I went and found a park nearby. Checked a couple of likely but wrong spots first before I spotted the real GZ lurking in the shadows. Wow! very Jules Verne! Had a fondle here n there and bingo! Name squiggled on log and returned to its hide. Glad I did this one at night as I think it would be muggles galore in the daytime, there was someones coffee cup sitting on top so maybe avoid smoko break times.

This cache is perfectly named. Hubby and and I were out for a wander around UQ this morning. It was nice and quiet on a Sunday. All is good with this cache. The log was a little bit damp but I could still sign it. Tucked up safely. TFTC

We came for a bike ride through this area today. As the uni is about to begin, it was very busy. We found the container on the ground, picked it up and not realising it was what we were looking for, put it back down. After a couple more minutes of searching we picked up the same container again, and low and behold it was what we were looking for. We signed the log and have re-attached it to an appropriate place.
Thanks

Four days of geocaching all over Brisbane, mostly because I looked for nice natural places.

Easy find, no pressure!

Thank you for the cache!

----------

I was on the opposite side of the world already and could not resist a short hop from New Zealand to Australia. In a week I visited Coolangatta and surroundings, Byron Bay, some other parts of Gold Coast, but most of the time was spent in Brisbane.

07-May-18
Funnily enough, though the last finder reported putting this one back in its hidey hole, I found the cache sitting on top of the structure, with a new and freshly sharpened pencil beside it! Maybe a geo-friend works in a nearby building and keeps an eye on things? Anyway, after signing the log, I placed it back in its original spot, but I'm guessing the velcro connection is getting old and tired, hence the tendency for the cache to come away. Couldn't fit the pencil in, so have hidden it at the back of the structure in case it might be of use to the next person who comes along. Thanks for the cache, helyl & rachy.

Couldn’t find container. Could feel the Velcro

05-May-18
A bit more hunting and found it on ground. Returned up hole.

26-Apr-18
Found, but forgot my pen so couldn't log. Took a photo of the cache instead. Sneaky hide. I wandered up to GZ after missing my ferry. Now I've missed the next one after spending 15 minutes searching around the hydrant in vain!

25-Feb-18
My last find for the day. Sunday afternoon is a great time to search for this one. Once at GZ, the cache name gave away the likely hiding spot and the container was found on the ground directly under neath its namesake. Log signed I returned the container, up underneath. Couldn't get it to reattach properly, but it is in there. Just stick your hand in the hole and feel around!!

Many thanks helyl

First find for the day while out riding this afternoon. Luckily i had the entire place to myself (it being a saturday) although for once, time wasn't required, as i had the cache signed and hidden again before i had really started searching. What and the title rang bells.
Found at about two pm.
Find number 730.
Attachment is getting a little sad.
Thanks for putting a cache here ten years ago! For our enjoyment! Smile

Mrs Just a Trifle was out for a day of caching fun with barbbowman and Raynersinoz. We had decided to head over to the other side of town to see what adventures we could find Big Grin

We managed to locate the cache easily enough and with our names added to the log book, we continued on our way Cool

Thank you helyl for having placed the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy Cool

Thursday fun day is here again and so is Mrs JAT back from her FNQ holiday, so it's the 3 girls (Rio, bb and Mrs JAT) out and about on the dark side today Smile

This was our last UQ cache for the day and what an interesting GZ. It certainly was not what I expected. It definitley is a high muggle area, but thankfully taking photos of interesting objects is a great way to hide what you are up to Big Grin. bb had found this one before, but when I put my hand on the cache container it was in a different position to where bb had found it previously. I have never seen one of these before, so it's always nice to have a first. Lucky bb and Mrs JAT were with me, I don't know if I'd have been able to extract the log, LOL! TFTC helyl & rachy, all is good at GZ Smile

12-Aug-17
I have looked for this one before but no luck, Muggles, dark and didn't use my commonsense so today I park the car and didn't even take the key out then looked at my suspicion and thought that that was too simple so walked around my suspicion and thought I would touch something and sure enough it was just what I needed, 3 mins flat. Signed log and replaced cache as found. TFTC

#1503 Greetings from England Smile
Mr. Maths studied at UQ many years ago, and now Mathsnut Junior is looking for places to study. As we were in the area, she was very happy for him to show her around, so I of course checked for caches in the area. We visited the Physics department to see the pitch drop experiment which he remembered from his student days, then headed back to the ferry terminal via this cache. My GPS wasn't terribly happy about updating my position as we closed in on GZ - Mr. Maths assured me it was due to interference from the strong magnets in the labs Surprised So I resorted to instinct. I spotted what seemed like an obvious place, but it turned out that it wasn't. So then I checked the cache details and slowly began to get an idea, but I couldn't see anything appropriate. I called over Mr. Maths to pick his Physics brain, but as I walked towards him I spotted something very promising looking. Mr. Maths confirmed that he and Mini Maths had just been discussing it in fact and it matched what we were looking for, and indeed I could see a little telltale sign. A quick dash in extracted it while noone was around. The log was full though so we added a piece of paper and it was quickly returned. TFTC Smile

We decided Easter weekend would be as quiet a time as any to avoid the muggle crowds around this area, and cycled down to the uni to see what we could find. I do like caches that make you look a little longer at something you'd otherwise probably just walk straight past, and this definitely fitted the bill. A nice easy but interesting find!

13-Apr-17
Found it; thank you

01-Mar-17
Chose to avoid a majority of muggles and the parking issues by night searching. My first thought was a fire hydrant! But soon found (elsewhere!). Why is this the ONLY traditional cache at UQ? The rest are annoying mystery caches. This has to change people! No space left to write on log (I took last place)

A quiet place at this time of year, but not for long! Tftc

Could not find after 15 minutes of searching. Another log from the past mentioned they found it on the ground. Given the brush turkeys in the area, if it had fallen since August, it's likely lost forever.
