Not a disappointment. Nice little spot to stretch your legs and go to the toilet. We found the cache very fast and easy.TFTC remember to BYOP.
One of us found the cache, the other climbed the rock Despite the name, it didnt disappoint. TFTC
How many disappointing places can we visit on this trip?
Brad and Janet are on another epic journey. This time it involves many of Len Beadell’s 6500km of roads including the Anne Beadell, the Connie Sur, the Heather, the Neale, the Gun Barrel Highway, the Gary, the Talawana Track, the Gary Junction Rd and more.
And of course a 2 day visit to Maralinga which Len also located, surveyed and largely built as he had with Woomera and Emu. An amazing man.
If you don’t know of him he wrote some wonderful books. Laconic with a dry sense of wit, they are an excellent read. They are also available as audiobooks as is a recording of his brilliant after dinner talk one evening in Shepparton. Worth a listen.
And now the Moon Tours trip is over we are heading back to Adelaide via whichever way takes our fancy after a few days rest and repair in Karratha. Almost certainly down the WA Coast before heading to Hyden and the land of the Salmon Gums.

Heading for Norseman after a couple of days at Forrestania plots. Road is a little more corrugated than I remember it. No disappointment today, found this little fella at 13:35 this afternoon. TNLNSL TFTC Thiely
No disappointment here, an awesome sized cache, much better than a micro in the bush - thank you

Catching up with late logs.
It is finally time to head back to Victoria after five months away, we will be concentrating on adventure labs, earth caches and virtuals and anything that pops up nearby on the screen.
This is a fantastic place to put a cache as we would never has seen this area without it. We aren't sure why it is called disappointment rock because it was definitely a long way from being a disappointment. We had the entire area to ourselves today so we followed the GPSr needle to gz where the cache was located after a short search and our name was happily added to the log. We then wandered off to explore the rock some more before heading back to the car and on our way again.
Many thanks Thiely for showing us this location, a favourite point from us.

Found on our big WA adventure. It didn’t take too long luckily as all the details hadn’t loaded as I was offline.

Found it.TFTC Thiely. Quick find here today. Replaced as found. A welcomed stop and a great walk up to the top. Thanks for bring me here.
Ok on the return from Millicent’s geocaching event I decided to go by way of the dirt but pood and twiggy didn’t want to smudge their tyres so they went coolgardie way haha
A quick easy find whilst dawdling home to SA after our weeks stay in WA. Travelling with Lidds and Miss Goosey. Another of the beaten track hide. Loving them. Not a fan of the March flies. Lots of scurrying lizards. TFTC
Found on our5 week adventure to WA. Never heard of Disappointment Rock before. The March flies were in plaque proportions so I just did the cache. Next visit I will be better prepared and do the walk. Thanks for allowing me to visit another glorious Aussie destination
My Nullabour journey continues. Cocklebiddy to Lake Johnston. The late afternoon run over this rock was brilliant. The cache is a ripper!! Fav point added. TFTC
Quick walk up the rock to take in the view. Magnificient. Bit wary re snakes but a poke with a long stick where I could see the cache and my runners on if needed . Thankfully not. We have wanted to travel on the Norseman - Hyden road for a while and decided after over 14000 kms driving up to Townsville and around the Eastern States this was the time to do it. What a great road with lots of interesting stops thanks to CO's.
After camping not far south of Norseman last night, I made an early start to resume my journey west, taking the Norseman-Hyden Road.
This cache was found on a quick stop after a trip into Thiel Rock.
Thanks Thiely for the cache.

Thanks Thiely for the cache.
Our mission for tomorrow is to tackle the “nearby” cache, Thiel Rock…. We packed up & followed the road from home picking up a few caches before heading in the direction of this spot which is our camp for the night
We arrived to find the camping area deserted, so started to set up camp but by the time we finished we were joined by another group…. We headed off to find this cache in the early evening before heading to the summit for an awesome sunset [^]
TFTC Thiely We enjoyed visiting this location!

Hi there IronBrumby - today is day 7 of our Holland Track adventure and with Geocaching in mind this cache was on the list. We are staying at Lake Johnson tonight. Even though it was disabled, this cache was found today in company with Megawat60, M4YB and Team Ebenie. The log is in good condition - SL. Thanks to IronBrumby for this cache.
Out ‘n about with m4yb getting a few caches. Another one for Mr TRR with rain falling all around us. Making for an interesting drive in and onwards to the next one at Johno’s Lake.
Thanks for the hide and smiley

On the way home along the Norseman to Hyden Road. It started to rain heavily as we approached the cache, thunder and lightning, very very frightening me.
Today was day 7 of our Wheatbelt/Holland Track/Goldfields adventure, and what an adventure it has been. We had two days wandering the wheatbelt, picking up caches here and there as we wended out way towards our rendezvous point in Hyden where we were meeting up with others who would be travelling the Holland Track with us. We (Team Red Roo, SeabreezeOZ, m4yb, megawatt60, ebenie and Mistraluna) had an amazing time on the Holland and are still sharing photos, memories and laughs via our facebook group. It was sad to be the first to leave the group, but SeabreezeOZ and I were on a limited timeframe and had to start heading back towards home before the others. They say that all good things must come to an end...
But we weren't quite ready to just tuck our tails between our legs and head for home. No, we did a search of goldfields caches with fav points as a filter and came up with a "Must Do" list to grab whilst still in the area. I had never been into Kalgoorlie before yesterday, not really ever being interested in venturing too far from the ocean, so I was very impressed to see so much history around the place, and amazing landscapes as we travelled first east from Coolgardie into Kalgoorlie/Boulder, and then southwards down towards Kambalda, finishing our day not too far from the shores of Lake Lefroy. Sunrise at the lake was a definite highlight of the trip too, an experience I would recommend to everybody.
From Lake Lefroy, we continued in a southerly direction, stopping off here and there to climb the odd hill or two in search of trigs, or to take photos at other interesting locations on our way into Norseman. Once we reached Norseman, it was time to grab a few items from the local IGA and do a lightning tour around town, picking up the newer caches that had appeared since my last visit. After a rather nasty encounter with some locals, we weren't keen to hang around any longer and headed over to the Lake Cowen Lookout for a lunch stop and a chance to say goodbye to the goldfields before hitting the Norseman-Hyden Road as we headed west towards Wave Rock once again.
My companion had already found the caches along this stretch (apart from Thiel Rock, and we hadn't done our research on how to tackle that one) but was more than happy to stop so that I too could claim my smileys along this road. A bushfire has been through since his visit here last year, so nothing was quite as he remembered it. It didn't take me long to hunt out the cache (all good here) before heading on up the rock to see what was visible from up there, taking a few photos at various spots. Would love to have had the time to explore some more - maybe another time.
Huge thanks to Thiely for placing and maintaining this cache for the rest of us to come and find.

Good spot for a cuppa and a wander. There is a bit of prickly vegetation about but the rocks show interesting shapes and combinations. TFTC and comments.

Waving Farewell to the Rock (yeah, bad pun) we set off in lovely weather to drive The Granite and Woodlands Discovery Trail, see the great countryside and find the six caches. Such a better name than Hyden Norseman Road and a terrific leaflet, anyone following should get hold of one at the Information places. We were grateful to sylken who helped us out when we were floundering, trying to get started. In the event, we had an exciting and almost wholly successful trip with five finds.
The lovely weather, however, didn't last. We were wakened in our 'van at 6.00 am the first morning by rain but it stopped and we were down the track and the rain wouldn't last, so we set off. It stopped and started again all morning so we camped for two nights at McDermid Rock, a very acceptable site.
We found this cache fifth at 11.20 am. Then we set off on the walk. We didn't mean to go the whole way but it is such an interesting place with such really good informative plaques that we just continued on .. and on .. and ..on! We strayed a bit towards the end but still had the GPSr running so all was well. Wonderful rockscapes and views, lizards scuttling, butterflies fluttering and flowers blooming. So very happy that you took us there Thiely, thank you. There are no Favourites left in the kitty, we'll try to remember to come back when we've earned another. We retreived the TB and a couple of travellers visited.

[:(!] We have just finished part of the Holland Track for our epic adventure for the last couple of days, after camping at Thursday Rock we were on our way again to McRock where we set up camp for the night, before tea we dashed down the road and we pick up this cache, we parked the geocar as close as possible to GZ and we walked the rest of the way, on arrival at GZ we had the cache in hand in a matter of minutes, I have not seen so many march flies in one spot, after we left there were a few less.

We were worried as there had been a lot of rain in the past day and we were told the road was closed but it was about 4.30pm when we made a phone call to be told only the Hyden to Florentina? section was closed but due to open to 4wd less than 3 tonne providfing no more rain. The rest was open to 4wd which meant no mining trucks which is a bonus.
The first section from Noresman was a little slippery to start but proved ok after about 30k. A lot of water off the sides though. The track into the rock was washed out with a little river to negotiate which had dried up by the morning.
The 3 year old left a little blood when she fell over near the cache.
Thanks for the cache.

We have camped here before when the kids were little so glad to see a cache here. Spent the night under the stars before finding the cache early in the morning. Mr M was sent in to negotiate the prickles while Mrs M played with the many lizards and brandished the camera. Enjoyed the rock walk and pleasant views, one of many rock visits this week. TFTC
Made the rookie mistake of assuming it was at the top without checking the GPS. Still worth the climb! The first of six granite rock climbs of the weekend. Bush bees seemed unconcerned about us poking around. TFTC!
Great view and enjoyed watching the dragons run about the rock. The recent heavy rains have made the area green. Theil rock called in the distance, but looked too far off the beaten track for today's adventure... TFTC
Second for the day. Found by senior geocacher. Took the lion charm and left three pirate coins. We were going to camp here but discovered on the way on that you can't camp here any more. There were heaps of march flies so we were glad we stayed at Lake Johnson.
We could not be dissapointed here, we found cache #400
Nice area, not to many people and a nice stroll up the "mountain" with a nice view.
Thanks for hiding this cache,

Checked the cache, no problems, recovered the camera, will have the photos taken proccessed. There has been a fire that has gone through the area burning everything around, the cache has a few scares but is still solid.
Found this in Company of Devildog3 on our 2800KM trip 4 day bender geocaching TFTC looks like a bush fire has come through here but is cool place lucky liked the shade
NICE AREA, BUT A BUSH FIRE HAS RECENTLY BEEN THROUGH THIS AREA. CACHE IS STILL OK. WATCH THE MARCH (HORSE FLIES) THEY ARE BIG AND THEY BITE HARD. FOUND WITH TEAM DJ BILO
Not a dissapointment at all!
Thanks again for breaking up the long road with some nice caches you place along the route.
We found this one on our 10 days 4000Km trip from Nannup through the goldfields and wheat belt.

Wow! What a rock! Walked around and over it and enjoyed the splendid view. Amazed at the amound of growth in the slight indentations. Took nothing, left Jons Tassie GC.
Thanks for the hunt, Thiely.
Thanks for the hunt, Thiely.
Found at 4.30pm on way back to the Eastern States. Nice easy find. The watch is still going but stuck on WA standard time, I did not correct it for daylight saving. Did not take photo. TNLN before trying to beat the thunderstorm to Norseman - in fact I made it.
Thanks for the cache
Thanks for the cache
Lucky us to be the first to find this cache. We have been on a 5 day tour of the wheat belt region while repairing our nearby "Breakaways" cache. We added this and the Nearby "Thiel Rock" cache as ones to do if we had enough time available to us.
We drove out from Hyden and arived around 12. We had no trouble locating the cache and enjoyed a short walk around the rock.
The cache is well stocked and well made so it should last the duration in this extreme climate.
We were surprised to find a Mobile phone in the cache and as we needed an unlocked one for overseas trips we decided that we should claim the booty for ourselves.
We replaced it with a Colorado brand watch (we think its a good swap)and a "Oranjeboom" Bottle opener. We grabbed the Dummy TB to move it on to a new location.
Thanks for the excellent cache.
