Logs
As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm temporarily archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact us when you have the cache repaired, and assuming it still meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.
As this cache owner has not down maintenance on this cache since last found in April I suggest this one is archived to open up the area for someone else to use.
It really should be that I didn't need to attempt this one as when I read the previous logs this cache hasn't been found since April!
Isn't it funny how a Mega Event in Auckland hasn't alerted cache owners to go and check and maintain their caches especially with so much time before the event to do so and with the knowledge that out of town cachers will be in the area for up to two - three weeks.
Suggest that this cache is archived as soon as possible to stop others falling into the trap.

No luck tonight. Might take another look in daylight next time I'm out this way.
Spent an age looking, prob looking too hard will be back another day to try again.
Decided to check this one out this morning as was biking past. Loved it - totally unexpected. Managed to get it open - hint - pull hard.

Haven't tried this one yet, but will in the next week or so. But just wanted to check, has the cache been looked at to see if it can be opened? Cheers Uncle Sam
A very quick find here but couldn't open the cache as it appears to be seized shut. Tried for ages to loosen the lid but its stuck on good and proper! Took a photo of the cache for verification should you need it. Great sized cache and never seen this type of cache before! TFTC!
While the wife and I went visiting and BBQing with friends up the road we thought we better stop on the way home as this is the second time looking for this one.
How we missed it last time we will never know
Great hide with a great find!
Couldn't open the container though and didn't want to pry anything we didn't think would stand up too it so took photo to prove the find if needed.
Would love to know how to open this for future reference.

having just had success with the sister and nemesis to this one, we felt confident and motivated..and hey presto..how on earth did we ever miss this one previously?? found within seconds of arrival as it was a little exposed Im sure we searched there on the 2 previous attempts lol, but i think winter is a good tme to find this one.unfortunately couldnt get container open as its rusted/jammed shut great container and tried to hide better with some local camo. tftc
My friend (ak) and me (rangiora) did a roady round that coast and 14 caches and both agreed this takes the favourite tick. We nealy gave up then re looked at the gps and found in no time. Good thought into setting this up, thank you.
Loved it, didn't quite realise that I'd actually found it until it became obvious. However finding it was the easy bit, opening it was something else until I got a method that worked well. Would love more like this!
This was our first find - great fun and will not be the last.

Interesting vision of what is big and what is small, almost like an urban myth, TFTC
2.40pm - Boy if this is a small cache I wonder what a large one is? Had to use the small pen on site for this one. SLTFTC
That was almost a DNF! Definitely laugh-worthy once we did find it. Thanks for a claasic cache
My apologies for the LONG! absence from Geocaching. It is with regret that some of our caches have gone, but I hope to be able to review, update, restore, replace those that remain in the coming weeks. I would like to thank all that have helped maintain some of our caches in the true spirit of Geocaching, and extended thanks to those that have offered help in replacing those missing.

On a mission today to bring up 300 finds including a hike out to Flat Island. With the mission completed, I thought I would grab a few caches on the way home. Was initially confused, but simply followed my GPS to make the easy find. A clever little hide indeed. Certainly brought a smile to my face. Cheers for the imaginitive hide!
Didn't find it. But it was getting dark, so will come back with more light and hopefully more success.
Cool cache! Not sure how we missed it the first time. Out with the beautiful Bjarni1 TFTC
In the area to complete a trademe transaction . Had a good look around the tree, scratched my head and then used some geocaching sense and something did not look right . Very cool cache!!! TFTC
No go for us today, has owner checked this is here as we too looked everywhere with no luck

Well there were 4 of us and we did search for much too long but we had to leave with a DNF.
Couldn't find this despite searching the whole area at GZ. Great tree though and some nice views through the shower clouds. Went away with some souvenir bumps to the head from scrambling around the low lying branches.
Nicely done, scratched around for quite a while before making the discovery. SL Left GC TFTC
I tramped around in the woods for quite awhile with no luck.
I have been in New Zealand for a week and most of the caches I have found so far are small non-camo plastic containers.
I was just about to give up when I spied the end of the cache.
As I retrieved it I laughed and laughed.
Great hide!!!

Whoops, forgot to log this one
Since I was in the area for Trice's Goldmine, I thought I'd give this one yet *another* go - I found it's big sister cache a long time ago, and armed with that clue, had made several more stops here, with no success.
Finally, finally, finally! found it.

Called in on the way to town but no joy. Will take SWMBO tomorrow and set her loose on this one.
28/11 - Stopped on the way to "No joke... just a wind-up" and located the cache. Swag-end needed running repairs so hid under my tee-shirt and made it back to the carboot undetected.
Little Bloo truck in, Nothing out. TFTC...

Went round the tree 3 times. Too many other caches
waiting to be found to spend any more time hunting for
this one.

We looked around for a while but left empty handed, no idea as to the hiding place so pride says it was very clever. Found big brother later in the day so a 50/50 on this series. Thanks.
No luck at this spot today. I think if we'd done the sibling cache first then we would have got it.
Found little brother earlier and now armed with a bit of a clue (thanks you very much) made this a quick find. Thanks.
Didn't find today.Read the logs tonight & now a better idea what to look for I think.
Beware of parking on the grass near cache site when wet.I had to use 4wd to get out.

Had to come back as someone in the area collecting pine cones . On return could not locate and thought he might have muggled . Persistence rewarded though with finally locating it . Great container
Tried to find this one last week, without success, so resolved to read the cache logs before returning. Had another go today, and soon had the cache in hand. Nice one! Next week we will have to have another go at Small Tree Big Cache - got some ideas of what to expect now. Thanks.

Out Wacky B's way this morning to try and knock off a couple. Started a bit later than usual due to not setting the clock to Daylight Savings last night.
Had a bit of a hunt for this one but got there in the end. Loved the pen.
Cheers for the cache.

Have spent some time looking for this on a pervious visit so used the PAF option before we arrived today. When we found the cache it was not at all what we were expecting you just never know what WackyB will come up with next . Great cache T4TC.

had to let go of pride and Text the Owner for a hint on this one, Mrs Geckoh had left half her scalp on a sharp branch of the big tree looking for the cache in the dark, we retreated back to the van to have dinner while waiting for the reply to our hint request, once it was received we went back to look, but even then it took us a long time to find it, might be easier in the light of day!! Thanks WackyB for a wicked cache hide!!

thanks crusaderwoman for the heads-up re the missing pencil etc a real shame the pencil is no more as it was really quite unique
We've replaced it with a pen until another suitable pencil can be found and also added a new bag for the log book

I have done Wacky B's "small tree, big cache" so it made finding this one relatively easy. The cache was a bit exposed and the tape had come off. Also the logbook bag had a hole in and the pen/pencil had gone. Unfortunately couldnt leave my favorite Geo Cache pen. In Cat toy out pink paper clip.
Nice one, my pirate friend was disappointed at the low amount of swag so I poped a golf ball in for the next hunter.
This one was tricky.. 2nd visit out to this one with TunezNZ..
and what do ya know I beat him to it while he was trying to read his GPS...he he

SWAG looking very depleted

Arrived just before dark... trees were putting the GPS off a bit.. only had a micro tourch so no joy tonight...
#735 (3/8 on an East AKL trip). Found with brother Spud and three junior Spuds. Took us a wee while, but Spud spotted this one in the end. Interesting container. TFTC.
10.45am. Red herrings here had us distracted for a few moments but lateral hunting by The Pud produced success. The container is Wow!!

Found on second visit. Not where our GPS had it, or even using clues from previous logs. Some peoples perception of distance is way off TFTC

Both times I went passed (on way to and from event) I was in long line of traffic not easy to find place to park, outside the road works, in a campervan. So will have to come back another day for this one and it's sister which I didn't find.
Got this one on our way home from the Omana event. Great container! We found this one at night, which adds a whole new dimension to caching. Loved the counterpart to this one too (Small tree big cache). TFTC!
Out caching with the team afternoon while at the BBQ event, well it’s dark so the torches came out we searched, searched some more. Indiana Jill came up with the goods on this one, and then the rest of us followed. Great camo, fantastic.....!!! Thanks for bringing us here. TFTC!
Out with Local Earthling & Little Red Truck to look for big trees & small caches - or was that small trees & big caches...I'm just so confused! So busy trying to dodge the traffic & the road works almost forgot to look at the view. TFTC
Construction probably made parking on the roadside in the dark easier as there were cones everywhere and a reduced speed limit.
Loose debris underfoot was a challenge for some. Tree cover made GPS less help than it sometimes is and so provided an opportunity for developing geosense. With 5 of us looking with torches, passersby musta thought there was a search party out! We were on our way back to North Shore from event at Omana.
Find was not hard with patience and methodical searching. Accessing contents took a bit of unsticking. Nice cache and great views!
I recommend this cache at night as torches often pick up surfaces our eyes in daylight might not. TFTC

Don't know why I never logged this one - found when coming home from Omana event with Seattle's Best, Kayaknkiwi and Indiana Jill. Love the joke! TFTC
Had to spread the net a little but found eventually and what an impresive cache! Left the Canadian geocoin. TFTC
Great location with fantastic views - well worth a pause before hunting down the cache! Nice easy find - great bit of camo.

It took us a while, but than was ours! What a nice geocache! Found on the way to the beach, unfortunatelly our bateries in GPS were flat, so only one cache today..
OUT: TB dog

Yay, haven't found too many today. Added a bug. Nice to see a big cache with nice swappas. Cheers.
Finally, this one took a while. This was my 4th visit. Called the cache owner for some more hints.
Thanks WackyB. Nice cache.
Took TB.
Normally I use my own pen to sign the log, but this time I used the one in the cache.

Found on the second visit.
But it took a bit of searching, and even resorted to the phone for a hint option.
Thankfully no one was there to advise me, so I spread my search a bit wider, and to my suprise my gps said I was getting closer, B***** trees.
And there it was, dont know how I didnt find it the first time.
What a beauty!

Early evening, Kathy checking the days E-mails...
... another DNF!
8:30pm end of a long day so decide to check this one out, Kathy armed with coffee... myself with a torch... arrived at GZ
Cold, wet, dark... First sight we thought it had gone! but a little more poking around we almost tripped up on it!
Looks like the weather had dampened down the coverings a little and hidden it quite well. I brushed some parts aside to make it a little easier to spot for someone who wanted to find it.
Our advice is read back the hints in the previous logs (some are encrypted). Trust your GPS, stand where there is clear sky for a few minutes then head straight in where the GPS points before the tree cover has time to obscure things!
If you have come out a long way to find this and are about to leave on a DNF, please give us a call for an extra clue.

Searched the base of the tree, no joy.
Went back to the car, read the logs, went back much more enthused, still no joy.
Will come back again when it is confirmed that it is still there!

Arrived just in time to see someone else coming out of the bush (probably kiwibloke&chick). This was a second visit and I was better prepared this time. Even with the help of all the logs, the hint and about 25 minutes, nothing except an empty beer bottle was to be found.
Cache is either very very well camoed, very very well hidden (or both) or maybe very very gone!

Drats! Maybe Tramper Ted covered it up a little 'too' well. I had no luck with it

Wow, we don't know how we could have missed this one on our last visit, however it was rather exposed. Covered it up considerably more. Nicely constructed! TFTC
