An interesting multi about Katherine Mansfield. How fascinating would it be to sit down with her and understand how she saw the world! Good hide. I spent far too long disturbing sticky cobwebs in the wrong places as I misjudged where the hint direction was, and was only set straight when I turned on the compass. I was only 90 deg out!TFT multi, Jodanz
Couldn't find the final cache because I couldn't find the item in the hint, then they were closed. How to come back another day and find it!
Now there's a cacher username I haven't seen in a long time. Nice to see one of his still hanging around! Had a nice visit to both waypoints, yes the blue sign is missing but Google helped me solve that pretty quickly. Then GZ I spent way too much time looking in strange places and getting pricked by foliage - only to re-read the description and realise that wasn't necessary. Only a few places left to check after that and I finally stumbled upon it - the clues are accurate. Getting it out of it's hiding place was a different story! I returned it to the same area but in a position that's hopefully not too difficult to remove.
Wow, this one was hard for me to find! I had to get an extra hint. I enjoyed learning more about Katherine Mansfield. The GZ is very pretty and peaceful. Thanks for the cache.
Flew into Wellington on my way to Masterton for work. Had time to pick up a few caches. Targeted this one as its old and would also fill a Multi dot day. Had problems finding B however having got the rest of the coordinates I picked a couple of locations and fortunately spotted the hint item. After that the cache was soon in hand. Rats! I left my pen on the plane. Improvised as per photo. Thanks for the smiley.
Made the find early this morning while no one was about. Visited the waypoints a couple of weeks ago to gather info, I think the blue sign might be missing at WP1. You can see it on google maps but cant read it. Anyway, plotted out the possible options which could be narrowed down to a couple. The hint object finished the job. Nice hide. Thanks Jodanz
Perfect multi for my lunch break. Pretty sure I had one of the coordinates wrong (colourblind?!), but once I found the hint object the cache was an easy find, and in excellent condition. Tftc!
I have no idea when I solved this now. It's been in my solved multi folder for a long time. It's not a multi dot day, but what the heck. When I was an English high school teacher, I used to teach short stories with reference to Katherine Mansfield's works. One especially that I remember was 'The Dolls House'. Thanks for the multi, ADV. Found 2 logs in the container so I guess the 2 caches here were amalgamated.#10086
I'm visiting New Zealand for a tour around the country . First I spent 2 weeks in Auckland. Now I'm touring the North Island. While enjoying the sightseeing I also visit some caches. This is one of them. Thank you for showing me the place and thank you for the cache . Greetings from Switzerland .
Very nice multi, it was interesting to learn about Katherine Mansfield. I also visited the nice museum.

Daughter and I walked in a light shower to the waypoints.
Nice and easy, though.
Hint confirmed our coordinates.
Had the cache in seconds.
Cheers.
Sleepy was here!

Recently I spent a couple of weeks overseas, during which several things happened. One was some new caches got published in the Wellington area, and another was I (finally) qualified for a Challenge cache in Wellington that I've been wanting to get for some time. Today was a day to deal with both those things, and a few other caches along the way.
This was an interesting experience. As I was in the area today I decided I should have a go at this cache, and on reading the logs noticed some indication that there might be two containers here. So, after getting the final coordinates I went for a look. I found a cache container, no problem, but I did notice that the last finders name was not in there and I was confident that they had signed something, so I searched again. Sure enough I found a second cache container, less than 300mm from the first one. Funny. I merged the contents of the two containers into the best of the two, and returned the single containe4r to the spot I had fount it.
Thanks to the CO for placing this geocache here.
I enjoy every cache I find, and it is only with CO's like this placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.

I’m staying in the area a few nights a week, so completed the puzzle over a couple of days. I got some co-ordinates that looked right so headed to what I thought was GZ after work. I couldn’t see anything that remotely matched the hint so tried PAF. Still no luck after quite a lot of looking. I then discovered I was in the wrong place, as after walking around the corner, there was the hint object! Still no luck finding the cache though so I gave up for the night.
The next day one of my geocaching buddies visited the area and let me know the cache was still there and gave me another hint. Back I went, to be met with success this time, I’d got my compass directions slightly mixed up.
Thanks to CO for this cache in a lovely spot.

Today I ventured out for a garden party following a delicious French lunch nearby. Info was found quickly, along with me finishing off an Adventure Lab I'd had idle for a long time. On making it to GZ I was initially stumped before re-reading a hint and some logs alerted me to the likely spot. The find was made quickly and returned easily, tftc!

Fun multi. Found with ivss_xx. Brought us right back where we started this morning.
A fun multi to do while caching in this area. My first visit to GZ I learnt don't visit on a sunny day or at lunch time. My visit today was early Sun morning. Took a bit to find but found eventually, thanks to no prying eyes allowing for a good search. TFTC.
Some time ago I worked out the final to this cache and stopped by but it was not a multi dot-day so i didn't open the cache. Today is a multi dot-day so I took a ride into town and walk up. Managed to luck in a gap betweenthe rain long enough to get up herer, futz around for too long as I had forgetten exactly where it was, sign the log and get back tot he station.
A nice interesting find in the dark, and no one around made for an enjoyable re-hunt. Cache is dry, and as I also enjoyed the walk around and especially the final location, this is an easy favourite. Many thanks!

A nice little walk on a Sunday afternoon, before the grey clouds set in. A pretty quick find, but another cache a spider has made their home in. Scared it off and cleared the webs.
But now, looking at the last few logs online, I think I might have found the old one. Tempted to go back and have another look.

I only noticed this cache the other day because now that I've found more in this area the ones remaining start to become more visible. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it is to park in Hobson Street or Fitzherbert Terrance in the weekend which enabled a short stroll to the relevant waypoints from there. I didn't find what I was looking for at WP1 but figured out the numbers regardless whereas WP2 was more obvious. It was very quiet at GZ which made searching easy. I looked at the hint to expedite things but did not find a cache in the directed location although I did find a spot that seemed like it would be a perfect match. Casting the net a little wider I found "a" cache just a couple of metre away. I forgot to take note of when the most recent finds on this were (as I had to sign on a new page) but the log goes back to the maintenance log on 25/07.2017. Seems like the hint should be updated if this is the "current" cache.
Nice to find a cache in another area I hadn't been to before. TFTC.

As CO we we have definitely not done any maintenance on this one so maybe there are now two containers!
This was interesting
I used to own this cache (having adopted it from adv) and Jodanz kindly agreed to take it over.
I came here to dip a Beekeper trackable that wants to visit gardens so a garden party is appropriate. Those who have done the cache will know why is is even more appropriate!
I looked for the cache and initially didn't spot it but eventually managed to find it and to my surprise it had no logs since that of Mati16348 in 2019! The cache is not in the form I replaced since then when it appeared to go missing, not sure if the current CO has changed it but that doesn't explain the log, J have no reason to doubt that the recent logs are genuine. It seems that the original cache may have reappeared somehow!

A lovely urban area to go for a stroll to find coords then the cache. Had to return another day, there were too many muggles. A different story thou on a rainy day, had the whole area to myself.
Cache was a little reluctant to come out and greet the rainy weather. All dry and tucked away again. TFTC.

A very enjoyable multi. Nice interesting area to explore and a good quiet cache location. All good here. Tftc
A nice easy multi just around the corner from our Wellington accommodation. No problems with US Embassy for us but not should there be. Their territory and authority ends at the Embassy fence!

Fun multi-cache in a beautiful park. Perfect multi for those of us just venturing into the world of multis. Thank you!
I solved this puzzle some time ago and never got round to visiting GZ. I visited yesterday lunchtime only to realise I didn’t have a pen with me so decided I would visit after work. That did not happen because it was bucketing down and I didn’t want to get wet. No chance of it happening because it was still raining heavily as I walked to the bus. I revisited GZ at lunchtime today, signed the log without any muggles close by. Many thanks for maintaining this cache. Favourite given.
Routine check, all good.
If we go back up the levels the Garden Party might have limited numbers in attendance

Followed clues, slight problem with coordinates when I forgot how to count, but soon rectified. Cache all snug, no problems with embassy attack dogs. Tftc!
I like to try and keep the cache hidden in the manner the original owner placed it.
I have had some difficulties with that, so for now have hidden in the same place in a different way.
It should be reasonably safe from muggling as long as it is returned carefully.

Unfortunately the Garden Party cannot proceed after all as the cache has been muggled and all that was left was the lid which I had to destroy owing to its bad condition.
The Garden Party can resume as long as Level 2 restrictions are observed.
These include using hand sanitiser before and after handling the cache, and social distancing from anyone around who is not part of your "bubble."

Disabled owing to the nationwide lockdown.
No logs will be accepted during the lockdown.

I had parts ready to improve the holding power of this cache but there are now restrictions on unnecessary travel for people my age so I can't get there. Here's hoping it survives as otherwise it may need to be disabled and/or adopted out or failing that to be archived!
Please ensure you replace it carefully after finding it.

Cache finally replaced in the way the original owner set it up. Could do with a bit more work to increase its chances of staying in place but it's OK for now and I can do the rest in a future visit. Please be careful to replace it safely.
Terrain increased to 1.5 and wheelchair accessible attribute removed as unfortunately a wheelchair user would not be able to reach the final cache unassisted.

Cache is back in place. Got it closer to the way Adv had it but the force wasn't strong enough and I can't do any more just now so it's back to its temporary hiding method in the meantime.

TFTC.

The holding system has not worked.
Rather than delay any further I have wedged the cache in its hide while I try and fix the problem.
Please replace the cache carefully.

Cache is ready to go. Didn't quite make it tonight as I would have risked missing a train on my way somewhere else. And it isn't an area I want to visit late at night on my way home.
Should be in place about the middle of tomorrow.

Just checked on the container at home and in doing so got paint on my hands. Not good drying conditions, but also not the best weather for a garden party anyway!
With great sadness I heard that the original CO has passed away so it is important that I am faithful to his memory and get this cache back in place quickly.
I got caught on the hop a bit with this one as it has stayed in place for many years with only basic maintenance required so I didn't really think it would need replacing any time soon, but the alterations at GZ put paid to that!
The cache construction isn't complicated but also isn't just a simple matter of replacing a basic container. Hopefully when I do replace it it will last a long time but I will be better prepared in case it does go missing again. Apologies to all potential finders and to the Coddiwompler.

Update. need to wait for the camo paint to dry, I am sure finders would prefer it that way!
One other small job to do so looking at Monday next week or Tuesday latest.

Unfortunately the supplier of the parts I need is offline till 12 October, so allowing time for delivery it may take about a week after that before I can get the cache back into action.
Need to get some parts.
I hope I can get it done in time as it would be unfortunate to have the original owner's work undone!

Logged with permission. A nice park to visit. Look forward to finding the replacement!
It turns out that the whole of the equipment the cache was attached to has been replaced.
This is a good thing as the original was getting pretty grotty and the new equipment is probably less attractive to snails (!) but unfortunately the cache has disappeared in the replacement process.
In the circumstances I will allow geoharry8 to log "with permission."
As I was here mid afternoon I couldn't assess the situation with the homeless person, but maybe the upgraded feature has made it a more comfortable sleeping place! I will have to check for him at other times as and when I can without putting myself at risk.

Have spent quite a bit of time looking for this over the 2-3 weeks. It is not in the obvious place indicated by the hint, or any of the less obvious places that I searched. Unfortunately, I'll have to admit defeat on this one.
I am not sure if I would describe the final as an "alcove."
I will take a look to see if the homeless guy seems to be there as permanently as such people ever are, and decide what if any action is needed with the cache.
Please note that it is a requirement to have signed the physical log. In the particular circumstances you describe a photo would help to prove you were at correct GZ as you couldn't access the container for valid reasons but as I guess taking photos may have upset the homeless guy I will allow it. It would have been preferable though to ask my permission before claiming the find.

I solved this one last night, and I was confused as the only embassy I saw was the Nuie one and I thought what a lovely place. Only after leaving did I notice the 'prominent' one, well, it was kind of obvious with that huge fence!
ANyway, I couldnt make the sign as their was a homeless man camped in the alcove that the clue made obvious was the location... I cam back this morning, he was still there and I has one more effort after work this evening.... nope, still there. Not sure when I will be back to Wellington and I feel I did all the work for this and came to GZ on 3 occasions, so therefore logging as found

We have been looking forward to finishing this one for the last couple of trips to Wellington. Nice Multi and it took us to a park we did not know about. Thanks CO for the cache.
Nice sunny day for a walk. It was at lunch time, but not too many muggles about and grandson and I waited a bit until they all left
During my trip to New Zealand I visited some Caches, this was one of them. Thank you to all owners!
(# 4864). After a couple of days lounging around I decided to get this cache knowing the area would be quiet today. Quickly got the required information then onto the final where a quick find followed. Everything in order. TFTC
Quickly solved and collected on a mild Sunday morning. What a cute little garden and playground. Great spot for a cache. TFTC
Playing in a Scrabble tournament at the Bridge Club next door to KM birthplace, so very handy! A quick solve of the 2 sets of questions, however a muggle at GZ meant I couldn’t complete yesterday lunchtime.
Back today, and the coast is clear.
Thank you for bringing me to this lovely spot!

Pleasantly surprised to find everything in good order despite the damp conditions at GZ.
Found a whole set of rugby supporters' clothing, will be duly handed into Police!

After getting off the ferry I found a few caches on the way to the hostel, dropped my luggage and took the bus to the eastern end of Wellington for my main goal in New Zealand as far as geocaching is concerned, then slowly made my way back towards the city centre.
Contrary to the advice in cave description, I looked for this one in the middle of the night Easy number collection and calculation, at the end I searched first at a wrong location (opposite side of flower bed), then decided to try higher up and quickly found it!
Thank you for the cache!
----------
Visiting New Zealand for three weeks. After hanging around Auckland for a few days it was time to head south! Early morning flight to Nelson, a walk in Abel Tasman National Park with camping in Torrent Bay, then back to Marahau and a ride to Kaikoura. A short ride to Christchurch, then two rainy days in Dunedin and Invercargill, before beautiful hiking in Queenstown, Wanaka and Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park. West Coast was tricky as expected but not too wet, then a rush to Picton to explore the North Island for a few days.

Solved coordinates seem OK, though in the hidden coordinates visible only to the CO and reviewer one of the least significant digits was out!
Changed clue for B as I couldn't find any trace of the information used for the original one.
Changed a worn and slightly damp log bag.

Let's blame 5 metres or so on the earthquake
But seriously I inherited this cache and have not checked the final coordinates. It is a very long time since I found it way before adoption. I seem to recall similar difficulty when I found it but could not have been sure way back then that it wasn't GPS accuracy at fault.
I will check the coordinates and the clues shortly and make any required amendments.
At least seeing you didn't mention any I guess the snails haven't returned!

Cache # 4,010 - a nice stroll on a beautiful but windy day. Found first two waypoints easily, calculated final, then struggled a bit there. It got us close enough to find the hint object, and then cache was easy, but seemed to have deposited us about 10 metres away from GZ. Rechecked all numbers, and they matched, so not sure what was up. Did with CelloJoss. Grabbed the TB to move on. LNSL. TFTC!

#376. Did the WP's in the dark a few nights ago, and came back this afternoon, between the showers. GZ accessible only past flooded path! Found the hint item Stone Leaf, carved by a friend of mine, Aaron Frater. Cache not so easy, other hint helped & finally laid my hands on it. Nice to be FTS (first to sign) nice new logbook! Replaced log. A little sad to have to do this when the original log was in place covering 9 years of finds but unfortunately time has taken its toll.
The most recent finder may be interested to know that between my check after adoption and their visit I popped by and removed the snails that had taken residence on the cache [:O ] (I had intended at that time to replace the log but had neglected to put the replacement in my bag.)

Checked cache following adoption.
Log bag is damaged and log is rather damp but usable. I will replace them soon as the log also only has a few pages left.
I would like to see this cache be visited more often because of the significant and interesting history it refers to. One step I have taken to try and encourage this is the addition of the "tourist friendly" attribute.

I have amended WP1 and WP2 to virtual stages as there no physical caches at those waypoints. (There are still physical items you need to inspect! )
This will avoid any potential proximity issues for future caches being caused by these WPs. (The fact they were recorded as physical probably arose because the system for cache pages changed since the cache was placed.)

Dropped by on the way back from Fort Buckley - with Cate the caterpillar - to smell the flowers. Does seeing a monarch butterfly in the gardens count?
As can be seen from my note below, I've been here before but had no luck searching for the cache.
I came back today for another go. The weather was not so nice as last time I visited. Consequently there were less people around.
The cache is in good condition. All nice and dry inside.
Thank you

Found it. Another new summer day, keeping the muggles away. Had luckily performed the necessaries when the lunchtime crowd arrived on two and four legs. Had to plan another cache while waiting them out. TFTC and puzzle.
Nb: I wonder if the opening hours plaque was removed post quake reopening. Knowing KM's denomination should suffice.

#2841. This one has been sitting in the partly solved category for nearly 2 years. Mrs GSEL took the girls to visit KM house and recorded the WP1 details while they were there. I have been meaning to visit WP2 for ages so finally decided this evening would be it. Got to the park and soon had the information (or so I thought). The final coordinates seemed a bit unexpected but headed around there to check it out. Only to find it was on private land. So looked at the questions again much more carefully and soon saw where I went wrong. Idiot. Back to the park for the correct answer and plugged in the numbers again. This time it all fell into place and after a short saunter in a deserted park I was onto the cache in the second place checked. Signed the dry log and returned as found. Thanks for the multi.
Visited this early in the morning around 9,00am and there was even a park outside the area. I had visited the first way point probably a year or more ago but was never sure about how to access the next way point but with a little more thought etc I found the accessing was not going to be any worry if I was there early. So it was a quiet stroll along the path to way point 2 and find the answers and hey presto it all fell in place and the find was quickly retrieved, signed and replaced with no sign of any muggles! Many thanks for this achievable multi cache. all was well at GZ.
Thanks for nice little multi. Picked wet day to collect, and instead of muggles was builder! Detailed hint appreciated as could still be discreet.
This was found late at night. I didn't remember to write down the details from WP1 which made it more difficult. A beautiful place for s garden party, very fragrant. TFTC
Found the facts at lunchtime and went to GZ, but was thwarted by a man feeding his sandwiches to the sparrows. Stopping off again after work had me the place to myself and the cache was quickly in hand. TFTC.
A nice stroll through a park I haven't been to before. There were few people about and the 'prominent embassy' wasn't the problem I thought it might be from the description. An easy find at the final. TFTC - on to the next one!
Completed this one while waiting for car to be fixed near by. Never knew this park was here. Probably one of my new favourite parks now so it gets a favourite point : ) Tftc
Very nice little multi, no problems with any of the questions and lovely location for the final TFTC
#1244 I had fun doing this cache. Somehow one of my coordinates was out as when I was at what ended up being GZ my GPSR showed I was 34m away. Not sure which one I got wrong, however the hint object certainly helped and I found the cache right away.
I collected the numbers a few days ago and only put them together today.
A really windy day - had to rescue a lady carrying flowers as a series o strong gusts threatened to destroy her charge. Helped get her to the end of the road safely by using me as a windblock.
Due to the weather, not nearly as many folk in the park as there was when I was collecting the info. I was by myself, muggle free as I completed the paperwork and returned the cache.
Thanks for this multi and for another smilie - my first today

Interesting bit of history here. A new spot for me and a good hunt. Loved the final area. Thanks for bringing me here
This was an enjoyable stroll around a nice part of town. I found the cache after a brief search. Thanks very much.
Spending a day in and near the CBD catching up on some long standing geocaches like this one. A well thought out and straight forward multi which took me to two relevant themed locations. Thanks ADV, I really enjoyed completing this one. A deserved favourite added
I had no trouble finding the information needed and soon had some perfectly viable coordinates. I did have trouble, however, with a group of youths having lunch near where I wanted to go. I thought they wouldn't be long, particularly as one was wearing a tee shirt, short and jandals on a cold day. I returned to my car to eat my lunch but they hadn't moved. So I went for a walk around the block and was pleased to see the group leaving as I returned. I swooped in for a quick find.
Thanks for a well complied and interesting multi.
