The cache has been taken [:(!]

I'm not sure that I will replace this one on the island, as it seemed to generate too much traffic onto the island and the vegetation around GZ was trampled a fair bit.

If I can find a good water proof cache container, I might try for one off the island that would require some rock scrambling along the river banks.

14-Mar-09
not logging this as a dnf...but more of a 'couldn't get to'. with all the rain today, the river is running massively high and it would have been silly to try to get on the island. so I watched on in dismay as a bunch of muggles fed the ducks.

This was my second attempt to find this cache. The first time, some months back, I ran into Juzzlea, who owns the cache. But it had been moved, and we couldn't find it. I didn't feel too bad since even the owner couldn't locate it.

Yesterday, with new co-ordinates and decrypted hint, I rode my bike to the area and found it within about 10 minutes of starting to look. Took bottle-opener, left tiny antique bottle.

Thanks to my fellow geocaches for helping with the minor relocation of this cache. We'll see next winter if the ground follage makes the new spot a bit harder to reach and if so, I'll keep the cache here, but increase the difficulty.

Tried this one a few weeks ago before noticing updated co-ordinates. So finally came back today to try it again but still to no avail.

08-Feb-09
Found today whilst using LiverpoolRed's co-ordinates. Although they were a bit out for us (by about 5 metres) geosense made it easy find. Took a couple of photos for the cache owner using the mobile and averaged the co-ords on the 60 Cx. Accuracy was about 7 metres, but for what it is worth, the co-ords we got were, S37 52.024 x E145 03.878. If the owner wants to send me a email via GC.com or send me their mobile number, I will send them the before and after pics.
TNLNSL Thanks Juzzlea for the cache.

our last attempt for the day - failure 4 of 4! Sad

At least we found 2 tennis balls, the local dogs of the park will be thrilled when they get those...

all in all a day of failure, but a lovely one to be out and about! Very Happy

26-Jan-09
Could the next geocacher to find the duckie park cache at the updated co-ordinates be so kind as to send me some pics and or description with where the cache is now located. I've tried twice to find it, but so far haven't managed to re-find it since it was moved.

thanks. [8)]

A peaceful park, except for the constant roar of the freeway traffic. A bit of rock scrambling to get there, and 15 minutes of searching at GZ, and eventually there it was, right where LiverpoolRed and EuDes said it would be! TNLNSL. Thanks for showing me this place, Juzzlea!

23-Dec-08
A quick find, aided by the co-ordinates posted by LiverpoolRed & EuDes. I've re-posted the same co-ords so that they'll still appear in any future gpx (pocket query) generation. TNLN & SL at 8:40pm. Quite a different locale for a cache - complete with the tricky jump to access GZ! Thanks Juzzlea for the cache. Regards, 38degsouth.

21-Dec-08
Found by Mary & David at 1700. We're usually a bit hesitant about attempting a cache that has already been muggtled. Decided to give it a try, and success using EuDes' coordinates, which were spot on. Mary didn't attempt the final access and risk another knee injury, so she enjoyed just sitting in the sun and watching the antics of the ducks. That's another childhood memory that seems to no longer be encouraged. Our thanks to Juzzlea.

Made easy work of getting onto the island, but took a fair bit more hunting to find the cache – once again Tofska turned this one up for the team. Cheers Gav [3001]

Nice, this required a bit of reconnaissance before deciding on our approach. Ducks not happy at our presence.

Today was my second try at finding this cache. Last week, I went over on my bicycle but didn't make it as far as the GZ. Today I was having trouble with my Garmin GPS, but I did get close enough to GZ to see two other people searching around in the bushes...I joined them, and they turned out to be two of the people who originally hid the cache (Juzzlea), but THEY couldn't find it either! Apparently someone has re-hidden it in a new spot; the someone has provided new co-ordinates, but we needed more hints.

After the two original cache-hiders gave up, I spent considerable time on my hands and knees in the rosebushes, looking and risking snakebite, but to no avail. I will await further hints/instructions and try again!

Found this one at 16:05 with EuDes herself. Thankfully I saw LIVERPOOLRED's revised coordinates (which I agree with and have therefore added as a waypoint to this log) so the find wasn't as hard as it otherwise would have been Surprised. What a great little spot for a cache Smile.

Unfortunately, I also confirm that the ADAcache - Fazanten Geocoin isn't in the cache Sad.

TNLNSL. Thanks Juzzlea.

This was our last find of the day & again it turned out to be an easy one as the cache was out in the open .
Once we opened the log we found some muggle kids (Oscar & Andy) had wrote in the log after stumbling across the cache during the day after a bike ride .
Unfortunatley the Geocoin left by the finder before them (ggkof) was not in the cache as per inventory Sad
looks like the muggle kids may have a trophy !!!
We have moved the cache from exposed location & rehidden in a better spot away from muggle eyes & will inform cache owner

~20:15 King Jnr. The Solomonfamily had just finished a very enjoyable dinner at the Sun Luk restaurant nearby - no hesitation in us giving it a good recommendation. We were there celebrating King and Queens Snr's 43rd wedding anniversary. As we all arrived there from different directions, when we all departed, King and Queen Snr and I found ourselves driving to a detour while the younger members of the family were driven home to bed. Dad and I must be nuts - it was raining the crossing was slippery, I was in good clothes, it was dark with the only working light coming from my phone - but still I managed it after a bit of a rummage and getting my shoes wet I had the cache in hand. Thanks Juzzlea and happy anniversary mum and dad. Out TB.

One of three done in this area on a mildly pleasant Sunday afternoon.

A straightforward find. Found the cache to be exposed so rehhidden in same place but with added cover.

Brought some visitors with me, otherwise TNLN.

Another lovely day for a ride along Gardiner's Creek. I took the disco ball and left a little green tortise. Thanks Juzzlea.

Great spot for a cache!
The ducks seemed a bit surprised to see me!

12-Oct-08
Lovely location, beautiful day, and I managed to get the cache vicinity in one piece, and dry.
Found it after a bit of searching, at 11am. Not too many people around on this Sunday morning, but the location gives a lot of privacy.
I left a folding corkscrew, took nothing.
The cache is jam packed with stuff, particularly a bag of marbles which takes up a lot of space. It's difficult to get the lid on properly.

Found at 1530. Parked nearby, walked to GZ, stopped and thought 'Geez'. Looked at the terrain rating again. OK. Walked a little further and 'aha'. A quick hop, step and a jump later and the cache in hand.

A great little spot for a cache and a fantastic park area.

Thanks.

Cache #1 of 7 on my "take advantage of the rare opportunity to go caching during a midweek day" circuit.
Wow, what a great location for a suburban cache!
I successfully navigated the hazard and spent quite a few minutes searching around where my GPS was pointing, but it eventually settled down and I recovered the cache at 11:30.
Took: TB Bear Explorer to continue his explorations.

Many thanks to Juzzlea for a terrific first cache.

29-Jul-08
The GPSr was telling us that the cache was somewhere we would get very wet. Luckily when we got there we worked out a way to retrieve it without getting wet at all. Took "Regions of Germany Geocoin (BS) - spottler #06" TB. Left "Bear explorer" TB.

We found our 1st Juzzlea cache at 11:55am as the 3rd of 19 on our "Day after the GEGP" caching tour of the Inner Eastern Suburbs. The water was high and the rain drizzling down. Back when I started caching I would have thought for a while about all the possible options. These days, I just doff the socks and shoes, roll up the pants, leave my valuables with the family and wade on over. Once the cache was found and logged, I waded back and we retired to the nearby sports club rooms where it fortuitously turned out that hot sausage rolls and pies were on offer. Just the thing. We also took the coin. Thanks for the cache from D,H & A B-A.

Riding home from work on the bike track and know the duckie park very well. GPS was homing in on GZ when I soon found that my slippery cleats on the bike shoes were not going to assist the rock hopping necessary to avoid getting wet! So, took off sox and bike shoes and negotiated the rocky part without the wet part - found GZ fairly quickly after that and feeling very pleased with myself proceeded to exit from whence I came BUT in doing so ripped open my foot on a sharp stick - blood - not nice!!! Geocaching can be hazardous to your health! Thanks anyway Juzzlea I will remember this cache for a while as the cut on my foot heals. Took Aust Geocoin 2006 Regards Sarian

The reluctant spouse nearly took a bath on this one, but thankfully came up with the goods while I (short, wimpy) watched from the sidelines.

This is a lovely area, with many happy little duckies swimming around today.

Thanks to Juzzlea for the cache.

(btw, the cache lid has a crack in it, and the log book bag is torn.)

13-Jul-08
After hearing that the initial container lid had a crack, it was time for me to accept geo-daugher's request to do a maintenance visit.

Replaced container with a new one that has nice labels on outside rather than just permanent marker notations on the outside. (which we discovered weren't all that permanent).

Geo-daughter commented that it seemed to be hidden even better than when we placed it: mind you, she was searching in the dark.

First cache of the morning after staying at a mate's place near by. I missed this one last time I was here so I was keen to get back for another look. My heart sank when my GPS refused to start up. I wandered over to the island and tried to find it from guess work but to no avail. I went back to the car and put some external power into the thing and it burst into life, so back I went again!!

The cache was located pretty quickly this time and I offloaded a few coins I've had for a while.

Thanks,

R - B

Had to go in to Cabrini hospital, and since I had done the cache near there, thought I would do this one while close by.
Once I got up the courage to get to the cache all was well. Quite a neat spot actually. Took nothing, left a rose fridge magnet. Wrote the wrong date in the logbook, oops. I was ahead of myself. Thanks for the cache Juzzlea.

From our map the access of GZ looked simple, turned out a bit differently when we arrive Smile. A bit of fumbling around in the dark had us to the right location, and soon found. We were glad it hadn't rained tonight.
Nice spot for a cache.
No ducks tonight, but one black swan came to look at what we were doing, but we swore it to secrecy.
Thanks, Robmc.

30-Jun-08
This one turned out to be a bit of a surprise. Managed to stay dry and find the cache so thats what counts. Looks like a nice spot although had we come in the daytime I'd be better able to make that judgement.
Thanks indeed

29-Jun-08
I guessed where this would be as soon as I saw the approximate location having checked out the spot myself a month back. It's a great spot, but I fear it may be submerged occasionally. Container looks water-tight, so should be ok with a bit of luck.

We took the GC, but otherwise nothing. Thanks Juzzlea.

Found 200806281615 Smile. I'd given Facitman the 'heads up' for this one when it appeared so I was keen to find it (and its neighbours) this afternoon

The nearby nesting swans were most interesting and the location certainly lives up to its name Wink

The cache was found easily Cool

Loved this one, how friendly were the ducks (Spice wouldn't go near the swans though)!

Found 13:05, the creek having subsided access to the island was quite easy. The cache however eluded me for some time, it was not until having phoned a friend, that I had a "Why didn't I find that before?" moment [xx(]

TNLN, CSI=2, thanks Juzzlea.

22-Jun-08
Ditto Biggles Bear, it needed a boat today! I'll return for a look next time.

22-Jun-08
Overnight rains had pushed the creek level up making GZ unaccessible.

15-Jun-08
DUCKS! Lots of them. And a swan. And fairly used to humans too. as a keen birder I know that it is not at all good to feed them but its also hard to change human nature. Cache found easily after a short scramble, thanks Juzzlea.

14-Jun-08
This is a pond I used to ride past every time I rode to work, so when Muzza mention duck park and the area I pretty well had a picture of what to expect. It didn't take Muzza long to spot he cache and with stealth we signed the log.

Took Cow TB. TFTC.

Found at 4.50pm GAFF1. Another great spot that would have been so much fun to explore and play with the little ones. Stopped on the way home after visiting dak and the first thing we noticed were the muggles feeding the ducks bread. Now that the caching population know why we shouldn't, how are you going to tell the mugglesRazz
Thanks Juzzlea for a very good 1st cache - the co-ords were spot on after doing a bit of a tour first.

14-Jun-08
This is a lovely park, and one I'd never visited before. Alan-san and myself stopped by, but had to pick the right moment to grab the cache, as there was a father nearby videoing his kids and the ducks. No exchange was made. Thanks for showing me this great park.

14-Jun-08
Lots of activity in the park today and as I made my way carefully to GZ I noted the high water mark and thought how lucky it was a dry day but I did have one unnerving moment on the way there though!
A quickish find and after much honking by the ducks I was outa there.
thanks juzzlea

Found by Bob at 1015

I too was a bit surprised to see who got the FTF on this one - Eric's a fair way out of his territory and I was sure it had Facitman's name all over it Wink. Anyway, it was another good one to get on the way to work this morning - I've always been fond of watery spots - and islands evoke pleasant childhood memories of Huck Finn, Robinson Crusoe, etc. After reading Facitman's log, I'm rather glad to have this one out of the way as I can see how it may turn into a real terrain 3+ job after a bit of rain but, this morning, everything was relatively easy and the cache was a quick find with good coords.

TNLN, but did drop off a really cute TB

Thanks Juzzlea - a really nice spot and there were plenty of ducks too.

11-Jun-08
Found by Facitman and the Facit Family at 19:14
Facitman was notified of this cache earlier today but it's proximity to home was no help as all the Facit's were at either work or school. An aborted attempt sans GPSr, with a key-ring torch and in a suit by Facitman between the train and home resulted in a full Facit assault after Dinner. The real torch and GPSr certainly improved the hunting and the cache was found quickly. Unfortunately no FTF for us and a surprise as to the FTFr, we were expecting to see Geodes signature!
Can't add any history about the location but 'Duck Pond' as it's called in our house has a few interesting facts. It's an spectacular location after big rain as it acts as overflow for Gardiners Creek and the surrounding area becomes a large lake (hopefully not enough for the cache to be lost); and last year it was home to a pair of nesting black swans and their cygnet. Very cute. The pair returned a couple of weeks ago so hopefully more cygnets for the Facit's and others to enjoy in the spring.
Took nothing
Left a bag of marbles and a toy dinosaur
Thanks Juzzlea

FTF at 1645. I saw this one come on line and new I was heading that way to visit dak's Emu Mob i did not expect to get the FTF though. There sure was a lot of ducks here and even two black swans. Thanks for the cache.
