This geocacher reported that there is a problem with this cache.

19-Oct-17
Nah didn't find it because none of the signs displayed the phone number for the Halls Gap Police. Unfortunately we didn't have access to Fergzter's earlier log in June to be able to get this phone number so it may be helpful if the description is updated to include it. Just a thought!

Couldn't complete this multi, no phone numbers on sign.

22-Jul-17
This was a fun day exploring some of the shorter hikes around the Grampians with Jacko. Starting early in Geelong, via Ballarat for a (failed) FTF attempt, a quick stop in Stawell, and then onto the Grampians for a 10km hike to the stunning Mt Rosea.
Just after 2pm we decided to find some caches as well (apparently some Pirate campaign requires finding some caches this week to get the Mary Hyde lost treasure map and souvenir), so the GPSr was hauled out and we walked a few planks to find treasure.
The original signs at this multi have changed, so we used Fertgzter's helpful log to piece this multi-map together and find the cache.
Thanks, Dazz'n'Co.

22-Jul-17
After a decent half day out on Rosea, we decided for an easier walk and to grab the multi here. Worked out the coords previously - Cheers Fergzster.
Cache was exposed and an easy find. Absolute fantastic view - thanks for bringing me to one of the lesser known lookouts! A nice easy walk and certainly one to revisit!

07-Jul-17
Had never been here before despite some 12 visits to the Grampians over many years. As per previous log the phone numbers are not on the sign but worse l mucked up the subtraction. Still took us near gz but was obviously wrong. Checked calcs and found we were only 6 metres away anyway. Soon found and signed. Left a travel bug. Thanks.

Aha a nice multi on our weekend stay in Halls Gap. It is apparent that with the fires a few years ago that a new sign has been erected. However a little logical google search on the phone soon gave us some promising numbers. Off we went to the GZ and was greeted with an awesome view and a cache to boot. Cache is in reasonable order but could use a new logbook (alas we left our replacements in the car). A fav point for the location.

For future seekers these phone numbers may help your cause

Find #8598

Out and about with the family today (including Quokka, misthills and muggleDad), doing some gentle walks and taking in all the Grampians has to offer. This was the only cache I found, unable to find the info needed for GZ, I examined ALL the info on the cache page and headed down the path. Could it be?....Surprised Yes it was.Big Grin Very happy with my deductions and actually being able to find this cache.WinkCoolRazz

Many thanks to Darryl, Tyler & Joe for the cache. TNLN.

Big things are happening! *Are you joining the fun?*

Visiting the Grampians with the family and taking a wander round the sights. Of course when your brother-in-law is mad keen cacher ahomburg, we had to get a cache on the way! Had some issues with missing info, but the hint helped set us on the right track and before too long we had the cache in hand. Lovely spot, TFTC

05-Apr-17
This proved to be an interesting find. Couldn't make sense of the numbers so decided to try the hint. Didn't take to many stops to find the right area and the cache was quickly in hand. Tftc

Worked out and found by The Boofs TFTC. As per previous notes info no longer on sign by we were saved by the google!!

11-Dec-16
Attempted this one whilst on my way over to the Surf Coast Mega Event in Anglesea. Was disappointed to find that the required phone number was no longer available at gz and that there was no signal from the listed coordinates to be able to research the number online or ring anyone to look it up for me. So, as is, the cache is not able to be completed without prior knowledge - a bit disappointing, but hey, such is the life of a geocacher.

29-Jun-16
Required phone numbers not on information board...Goooooogle first.

21-May-16
Found while in the area for Run The Gap. A lovely walk after we used google to find the required information. Couldnt find it on the information board. TFTC

16-Apr-16
Using old logs for the info we soon had coords organized (signs have definitely been revamped since cache was created). We enjoyed our picnic lunch and a cup of tea before walking to collect the cache and enjoying the views from the various look out points. TFTC we really enjoyed the find even though it took a while to locate at GZ

Big fail for us today, couldn't find the sign.
Many thanks for bringing us here, we will return.

I can't believe I finally go caching in my absolute favouritist area and it has taken me this long to sit down and log them! Here's hoping scrappy field notes and an even scrappier memory are up to the job Red Face Hmm, I seem to remember having a few probs with the signage, but a perusal of previous logs soon had the issue sorted - more or less - and was soon doddling off in the right direction, thanks for the incentive to come back to a lovely spot Smile

22-Sep-15
After the wrong coordinates led me up to sundial peak, I read the description about the 1km return walk and eventually found it without too much trouble. Thanks Smile

18-Jun-15
We headed to the Pinncacle today from the Sundial car park and also checked out the Lakeview Lookout. Lots of great sights both from the lookouts and all along the trails.
Thanks to the info provided in one of the previous logs we were able to calculate the final GZ, and made the find before heading back to the car, despite the GPS going flat when we were just a few metres away! TFTC.

**this is a late log** I have recently made a major upgrade to my GSAK license and found this lovely feature that automatically tells me what caches I have marked found in GSAK but never logged on geocaching.com!! Yay, Clyde, you can have my money anytime! The caches I am logging in this batch were ones I found during VIC Mega events and possibly a few random ones I forgot during other trips into Mexico. In an interest to get completely caught up, I am logging my past finds in bulk. I still have work to do after this, as I need to locate my notes from all of my earthcaches, but once those are in, I should be very close to current. I appreciate all the effort you go through to create and place your hides and do not for one second take it for granted, I just need to get caught up so I can return to my once pleasant logs. Cheers!

With everyone doing other 'stuff' this arvo, I decided to mosie on up here for a look for this one thinking that at the very least, the views should be pretty darn sensational on such a beautiful day (and they were Big Grin).

At the sign though, things started to go a tad awry! Surprised The police phone number, other than the emergency '000', was nowhere to be seen and the Parks number, which I've had to use before for other caches and should be known to any Cats fan, just wouldn't work with the number given in the cache description.

I checked the POI for the police phone number on Upoj so that was a start but any number of guesses at how to manipulate the Parks number yielded GZs that were at least several kms away. Surprised Previous logs gave a hint at GZ but alas, Upoj only has the last 5 so it wasn't enough to see what was needed.

That being the case, I followed the instructions in the description, then the hint after which I spotted some geocaching recognisable cache cover and voila, I had the stash in hand at 15:30.

I took a waypoint and reckon the stash is located at F37° bar mreb cbvag guerr sbhe frira R142° guerr bar cbvag bar svir avar. For those who have the same 'last 5 logs' problem I've got, the info in Gaztek's log of April this year is probably pretty useful too. Halls Gap Police: 5356 4411 (not the same number in the POI I used as it turns out [8)]) and Brambuk Visitor Centre: 5361 4000. Good luck.

At least the views were absolutely everything I expected them to be. Big Grin

TNLNSL, although our Signal geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks Darryl, Tyler & Joe.

Thanks enjoyed the view and the walk 6/10/14

Not sure what hapenned but my calculations had GZ 20km away. Nevermind, we thought we'd have a go anyway and found by the hint alone. So, thanks for the very useful hint and for the hunt this afternoon.

I came to the Halls Gap on a surprise visit with my grandfather to celebrate my Dad's birthday with him. Sylken are grey nomads, and for the first time in a long time their holiday location at the time of one of their birthdays was within striking distance of Adelaide, so I couldn't miss the opportunity to nick over for a short stay of my own and the opportunity to celebrate with them Smile

Manage to grab this multi on a lovely walk that was Pop-friendly. TFTC Smile

14-Jul-14
Geohubby and I are staying in Halls Gap for a few weeks from SA. Our geodaughter arrived from SA for the weekend bringing her grandfather with her as a surprise for geohubby's birthday.

We wanted to find a few caches while she was here but they had to be in areas that were accessible for Pop to walk to.

Thanks to the recent log by Gaztek we were able to sort out the co-ords and the cache was quickly found.

Another great location in the Grampians....thanks for the hide Dazz'n'Co. [^][^]

10-Jul-14
Found cache after returning with the numbers sorted. Checked my email and facebook as it's one of the few places Vodafone works.
Thanks for the cache

02-Jul-14
Stopped in the car park, spotted the sign and set about solving the multi. However, the info on the sign seemed to have changed, had trouble +++ figuring it out. Managed to solve it with the help of recent logs. Cache description needs modification, but the cache co-ordinates were ultimately spot on! Well worth the extra few meters to the Lakeview Lookout - awesome. Off to the Pinnacles now!

20-Apr-14
Happy Easter! Up early to beat the crowds in Easter Sunday morning. What the??!! Can't find any of the necessary info in the signs. Between some quick open source internet searches and reason past logs,we came up with the coordinates to GZ. Here are some useful numbers:
Halls Gap Police 5356 4411
Brambuk Visitor Centre 5361 4000

Made our way to GZ. Great place to start our morning walk! Container is safe and dry and these coordinates are spot on. TN L a jade trinket SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek

19-Apr-14
Scratched the head, read everything a couple of times but couldn't get the Halls Gap Police phone number so gave it away. But then I read some previous logs and got the answer, so it was a quick dash to GZ to find this cache. Perhaps the cache description could be modified to use the National Parks number 131963?
Anyway thanks for the fun today, found at about 1400 this afternoon.
Cheers

This was first of the day.

Unfortunately my only DNF.

I'm not sure what I did wrong but I used google as my friend after realising the info is no longer available at the first WP.

Calculated a likely GZ and was on my way.

MMMM I dont have a parachute here.

Not sure of my calculations as they seemed a little incorrect.

I took in the scenery and was soon on my way.

I will return.

Lucky find this one, good work Anja for guessing the last few parts and bringing us to GZ!

05-Oct-13
A bit of luck, clever maths and persistence were all we needed here. Sure, the sign would have made it easier, but where is the challenge in that? Found with the Grampians OLW crew: TWDG, Setsujoku, Qin Nai and Princess Consuela. TFTC

05-Oct-13
Seems like not many visit the Grampians for caching too often with 6 months since the last find for this one.

It would seem over the winter that the sign with the required info has been replaced and now no longer has some important numbers.
We continued our walk to the look out none the less with the remote hope of being able to find the cache based on the hint.

We took in the views and then turned our focus to seeing if we could still salvage a smiley out of it. We were in luck. Within a minute or so Antti had made the find and we were able to leave with a smile(y)

What a great little find. Spectacular views. Was really enjoyable for the family. My 11 year old daughter found the cache so was very happy that both her and her brother found one cache each for our trip. Signed log book, took soccer ball whistle and butterfly rubber (my daughter collects rubbers) replaced with keychain and souvenir soap. TFTC

Went there just before sunset ... highly recommended! Quite an easy walk too.

Great view, also love all the stacked rocks on the walk in. Easy find, actually it was a little exposed, so we covered it a bit better. TFTC

A day's caching in and around the gap, tackling some of the less accessible.
Cache find was straightforward, signed the log and rehidden safely, just as found. All in order here.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too Big Grin
The Turtle strikes again!

We didn't have the same issues with coords as reported by previous finders.
Finally, after reading countless warnings about the likely presence of snakes, we came across one on our way out to this cache and the lookout. Don't know who got the biggest fright, me or the swift brown wriggler that quickly got out of the way. It was an adrenaline moment for a Kiwi not used to wild reptilian life forms like this.

Dianne and I were spending a few days holidays at the Grampians.
Today we decided to do The Pinnacle Walk from this car park.
We parked the car read the noticed board, got the necessary information and off we went for the walk.
Had a look at the lakeside lookout and then to this cache.

Hey Dazz'n'co. As much as i would like to saw our find was skill- i had given up and was walking back to the track and saying to my wife "nope, its ... Yes!! Its there. Only 3 metres from the trees. A big cache too. Bright red. You can't miss it Razz

Taken some pics of location to email owner as it is clearly not in the right spot - definitely the cache tho as lots of history inside. Still in good condition and lots of swaps. Kids very happy.

OH, did i mention the views? WOW!

Posting this as a DNF although I think it is bad news for the owner - the cache has gone AWOL. We searched the obvious area then read the clues and continued to search. Went to the lookout and then returned to search again. Found a logical location however nothing there! I think the Co's need to check this one out. Thanks for a great walk.

23-Sep-12
AN epic fail today. Look look and look. I even enlisted a few muggles to no avail....I will return.

On another note, this lookout is fantastic. The views of Bells and the Gap are something else. Glad there were not millions here.

Thanks to Dazz'n'Co and clear skies from TeamAstro.

Find number 14 of 20 on a BIG caching day in Gariwerd (Grampians National Park). We made the trek back to the carpark after checking out The Pinnacle. It didn't seem so far so we trekked out to the next lookout and to grab this cache. We had to scour the area and a busload of tourists came through! We got there in the end! Thanks for the cache Dazz'n'Co.

A lovely but cold and windy walk. At GZ hunted around and couldn't find the cache, read the clue, still couldn't find. Spotted it about 8m from GZ exposed to the direction we were coming from. Replaced here, not sure if its the correct spot, so may need checking. Not as far off the path as the clue says. Thanks for bringing us here. TFTC, TN L: pathtag.

With a group of nine people hunting for a cache, discrete and stealthy are not really words that you can use! Luckily there weren't many muggles around in this beautiful location. After enjoying the longer Sundial Peak walk and great views, we took our extended family of muggles on some geocaching initiation to find this cache. It was found by cousin Jack (5 years old), his first ever cache. Left and took some toys/trinkets and stamps. TFTC.

05-Dec-10
Bristlehound and I were out with a group of our bushwalking friends when we decided to take a detour past the toilets and do the number crunching to find the correct location.
Finding the cache was a little tricky and we resorted to the clue to help us, as the time factor was important.
Fortunately we were able to do uncover the little devil and regroup at the carpark too much fuss.

04-Dec-10
Found in the company of 6Hinemoa2 during our club's end of year bushwalk. Information was gathered easily and the maths done. We raced up to GZ to arrive just as the rest of our mob were about to head for the carpark, having come the other way, so a quick search was called for. For some reason, both our receivers had us on the wrong side of the track so, eventually, we gave in and checked the hint and the cache was soon in hand. Don't know what it was there - bad day for signals or a bad day for maths. Anyway, all's well that ends well. We got back with time to spare before heading off to complete our walk. Many thanks Dazz'n'Co. Pleasant stroll and a great lookout.

21-Nov-10
Away for the weekend with some square dance people and couldn't resist the beautiful weather and wonderful scenery. Picked up the information quickly and started down the track. The view at the end is worth the walk in itself. The probably happened, the only people we saw on the track were sitting right near by. We took in the view for a while only to notice the our happy couple decided to make a lunch date out of it so some tricky retrieve and replacement was made and we left them to be together.
Would recommend this just to see the view.
Thanks for bringing us here

As I was in the Grampians on a family holiday with my non-caching parents I had been avoiding multis, but we were doing this walk anyway and I thought that we could just manage the calculations Wink so we took the opportunity to grab this cache enroute. Took blue shark key ring and left pathtag. What a fantastic view. This was really one of the moments I regretted forgetting to bring my camera this week! Great spot for a cache and I encourage everyone to do the whole loop walk. Cache #459.

An easy find in a great location. Fantastic views and a lot easier to get to than the nearby Pinnacles. We walked there straight after doing this cache which for me was a walk for the sake of a walk seeing I'd done the cache there a while back. Robmc showed me "the nerve test" while we were there, which I didn't realize was there on my last visit so that made it worthwhile not to mention the views from the lookout. When we returned we had morning tea at the picnic tables at the start of this cache, banana cake and coffee, which pretty much made the morning I reckon.
Thanks indeed Darryl, Tyler & Joe

This is the ideal cache for this area. Some easy info gathering and then taking us to a great lookout.
It was a warm and pleasant morning and in the company of friends a great cache to do.
Met a party of track workers back at the carpark later keeping the area pristine for future visitors.

A nice little multi that took us out to an interesting lookout. Good to start the day with a flatish walk, before getting into the usual Grampians fare. Smile
Thanks, Robmc.
