Tftc. A neat find after doing rhe ryde falls loop. Love the waterfall and cool track. Unfortunately the popularity of the entry saw some signs of human waste near the cache - toilet paper. disappointing! 5-yesr old was stoked with the cache and the find. Treasures down graded to a plaster and a plastic fork - but we left some cool Keychains for the next people. Happy hunting!
Hello ! Found it With my collegue and friend Poopsie on our today’s little trip ! Thx
After spending the winter woofing on the west coast and the last 3 months in greymouth it's time to head off and start travelling again but not before a couple of search and rescue events in my old stomping ground...
After a weather bomb put pay to my goat pass trip and plan b and c , made the call to stay in oxford for a couple of nights giving me time to grab a few bonus caches...
The weather once again scuppered my plans for tackling Mt Oxford..strong winds and rain..so out for a few p and g's...could have done with someone to open all the gates up the road and had to hold onto the truck door everytime I opened it so it didnt get ripped off...finally made it to the car park with only a short walk to gz and a quick find , cache in good nick tftc..always good to get one of the Co's caches while out and about..

Thank you for cache, great view, walked couple hours in and out, little bits snow around
First ford dry. Second is wet. Decided not to take Rona the Outback thru as we are trading her for Peg the Forrester, tomorrow.
Found this one at the start of our overnight walk to the Wharfedale Hut. Wasn’t quite as difficult to spot as perhaps I thought it was going to be! #4339. TFTC.
Gave up due to muggles a few years ago, but clear run at the end of a weekend overnighter to Warfedale. Thanks
Moving day today and after driving up from the Mt Peel area, we dropped our caravan off at our campsite for the next few days then headed out to see what was in the area. Andy wanted to check out the start of the Wharfdale track so this was our first stop and cache was grabbed while we were here. TB dropped. tftc
Great semi-loopy walk today, totaling almost 15km walked from Cooper's Creek and back and about 1kg of blackberries consumed... I have my 5+ a day for the week! Not sure who put the waratahs in the middle of the path to stick out about 4-6cm, not ideal for someone as unco as me One managed to escape my rather efficient scanning of the path ahead! This one is over 10 years old now, with the original log, how cool!! TFTC!!
After driving in the rain from Christchurch to get the children of the house my Wife was pleasantly surprised to find her first Geocache! Fantastic container and great location. We loved walking in the rain for a bit and plan to return to do the Ryde Falls geocache another dry day.
Thanks for the Cache
Thanks for the Cache
Gorgeous day to be out and about with Nosynel and Jude_E. Nice quick find- now comes the hard part!! tftc
Team Warfi, Jude_E and Nosynel were on a mission. Our mission was Ryde Falls. Warfi being a Waimak resident had done all the park and grabs but hadn't done the walk. So we found those together and Warfi guided us on the others.
These hides we're the base of a fun day out. The walk is fabulous and the geocaches we're a bonus.
Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au

Found this with Warfi and Nosynel on day out caching. The goal was to do the caches on the Ryde Falls track. Thanks for the hide. #3275
Out for a Saturday cruise and did some caching. Well hidden in amongst growing matagouri and under rocks.
Bit if a wander around but found it in the end. Not sure flora part of the hint correct anymore. Tftc.
Came out on a lovely Sunday walk with the family. Had our mind set on reaching the Rude Falls. Pulled up into the carpark and there were a few other keen beans. Stopped here for a quick find and sign. Lovely day for it. Cheers.

We were coming to do a bit of hiking over queens b day - plan was to get to wharfdale for the night, via Mt Oxford. But far out hiking is getting trickier by the day!! 24 weeks pregnant, and they sure weren't lying when they said about the losing your balance and all!! But I got hubby to take the big overnight pack, and stocked it up food and all, while I just took a daypack with my spare clothes, snacks, and water.
So we parked on up here, and after headed out, stopped to find this cache right here! It was a pretty nice and easy find, and so I signed the log as hubby put some sunscreen on- quite a nice sunny day for a hike!!

Thanks for hiding, found it quickly when we started the track on this windy but sunny day.
Horklump and I had decided to go for a wander in Oxford Forest. We went from View Hill carpark and took a loop to the Ryde Falls. The falls were amazing, but I have never seen so many sandflies! We picked this one up on the way back to the carpark. TFTC
Today's road trip started out west of the city, first cache found at Charing Cross, then Darfield, Oxford, Glentui and Loburn, as well as a couple of gorges thrown in there for good measure, and back home just on dark. 4 DNFs for the day, 29 finds. Enjoyed the trip up into the back blocks. Just up here to find this cache, no tramping for me today. TFTC (1523)
On my way out on an Oxford-Lees Valley-Wharfedale-View Hill-Oxford loop on my bike. Mid afternoon and just three cars in the carpark of a (usually) very popular spot. All occupants being accounted for much further up the track made for a relaxed hunt.
A quickish find once the mountain biking muggles had moved on. The off up Mt Oxford. Loved the container. TFTC
This one has been on our list for sometime,so had a nice trip up here..Got slightly lost as the Sign pointing the way has gone,so we ended up at a Farm, and had to ask for directions. The Farmer has asked D.O.C numerous times to get it replaced. After his help we finally got here..Oh No..There were 4 cars at the Carpark, but thank goodness no one was about.Found the Cache quicky, and just as we were leaving
another Farmer on his 4wheel Bike had come up a side Track and was heading home, and he was just a head of us.He opened the 4 Gates and we shut them..Had a bit of a Chat..Nice Bloke.TFTH.
Cheers Barbara,Bonnie ^..^ and Terry..

Found this after a trip up to the Wharfedale hut and back.
After a look around found and logged the cache before heading home.

Great morning riding the Wharfedale trail past the saddle and back. Then a little hunt around for this one, took a bit of ferreting around b4 I located it. TFTC TNLNSL.
The clue confused me a bit. I have only seen this type of bush on the tops. After a wee hunt. Finally tracked it down. Awesome container. You had my dad reminiscing.
We were amazed to arrive at this spot in the middle of nowhere, to find 19 vehicles parked there. The road in was interesting, and at the last gate we had to reverse for 40 metres after meeting an oncoming car. The cache was a quick easy find, although we didn’t see any sign of the plant referred to in the hint at the cache location. TFTC

Quick find along with a pair of sunglasses found nearby? Followed some trampers out from the car park who insisted on closing each gate immediately infront of us although we were only a couple of car lengths apart, obviously not helpful cachers?
Decided to do a run along the Wharfdale today. Part of Team Laminsky and a muggle ran to the hut return and the other half of the team did just past the saddle and back. So we didnt do the Hut cache today - leaving that for another trip - just this one. Have been here many a time as a muggle, little did we know such treasure was located not far away. TFTC.
TFTC. What a surprisingly buzy road today - and several cars parked up in the car park. The cache was located by the hint as the GPS was flying about the place.

A pretty old cache that had been bugging me to go and get it since it was published. We decided that it was time today so on a brilliant Canterbury-post-southerly day it was great fun to drive up to the cache. The farmer has been working on the tracks and after all the rain made ofr interesting driving, not so sure a 2wd would do it right now but once it's dried it should be real easy. #3 of 9 today. TNLN Thanks
We were nearby, so worker suggested we grab this one as reckie. Have had the track on the radar to ride for a few years. Now know where to come when we have more time. No matagouri by the cache , but liked the placement. Left signature, took photos (of the sign !) thanks
4479. Was out at Oxford Hospital today to visit an old friend so decided to clear up our four unfound caches out that way. After successfully completing Woodstock in the old Nissan Avenir with no trouble decided that I would do View Hill Vista today after all!! So that made five. Also set out a large themed series around the area while out for the day, which hopefully will be released this week. Thanks for a great cache. Rodney
Found easily on the way to the waterfall, but muggles camped at the carpark when we returned stopped us from bringing the cache container back to the car and replacing it without raising suspicion. Filled in the log book only just out of sight. The loop via Link Track took just under 3 hours. TNLN.
#677: Park & View.
Rediguana and I decided to head out to do the caches in this area today. We got an early start (6:30am), and were on the trail by about 7:15. This was obviously our first cache of the day, as it is so near the car park. Quick find, and a good way to start this long trek. Cache is in good shape. After this one, we did Mt. Oxford and then Beyond Towns End, for a total travel distance of about 30km on foot. We arrived back at the car at around 4:15pm, with a lunch stop at the Wharfedale Hut. We were both saying how glad we were we didn’t try to do the Mt. Oxford Route part of it in the other direction. Would have made for quite the steep uphill! We took the View Hill-Mt. Oxford Track to the peak of Mt. Oxford, then back tracked to the junction with the Mt. Oxford Route, and took that to the hut. Then we took the Wharfedale Track back to the car park. The Hut is almost exactly the halfway point (15km) of the loop if you do it this way. We were both dead when we got back to the car, but happy we did the extra bit to get the Beyond Towns End cache.

First cache of what turned out to be a rather long day We had an early start from town, and were in the carpark around 0715 and hitting this cache before heading off down the track around 0730. It wasn't until around 1630 that we returned to the carpark after finding Mt Oxford and Beyond Towns End and hiking about 30km give-or-take. We took the Mt Oxford track up to the summit, then the Mt Oxford route down to the Wharfedale hut, had lunch there, and then hiked out via the Wharfedale track. All up - a very satisfying day! Cheers Gav [10260]
I love Oxford Forest, grabbed this cache on the way out from visiting Ryde Falls again, cheers!
Great day for a bike ride up the Wharfedale. Many thanks for giving me inspiration to go and explore,TFTC
What a drive in. Cost me $4 in gate fees to get here, but money well spent. Howling a gale in the saddle. Easy quick find - lovely to find a real cache. TFTC
Awesome spot for a cache even though we didn't head any further along the track today the view from the car park was still nice. I have been here before around this time of the year (a very long time ago) and biked the start of the track before deep snow stopped that and we had to walk. Apologies to Mr B - I should have haggled down the price, fortunately we got there before running out of coins. TFTC.
My fourth 'lonely' cache and my third for today. Didn't have time to go bush today but certainly enjoyed the drive up here. Tinny rental car managed to handle the ford and the road quite well... Weather perfect. Great spot. TFTC, Biggles.
Nice hide no a tramp that the weather stopped us getting to the others in the area, SL TNLN TFTC
I am glad I had a co-driver today to open and shut all the gates. The 'road' seemed to be in worse condition than the last time I drove up here. Great views. There were a few bumblebees buzzing around but they were in way less numbers than those at the start of the Wangapeka Track. Retrieved BabyBel TB. Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the hide. Nice rock enclosure. Kept it that way. Travel bug placed. Also left a few useful items in the bag.

After climbing Mt Oxford from Coopers Creek, arrived at the Link track intersection 1 hr 30 mins from the top. Decided I had enough time to detour to this cache and 30 mins later was back at the intersection. Then just over an hour back to the Coopers Creek car park. Total walking just under 22km. Cache found after a couple of minutes searching. Well hidden. TFTC.
I have never seen so many bumble bees.
there is a wasps nest within 20m of the cache in an old rotten stump.

Came up here at the end of a pretty good caching day as a bit of an afterthought. Glad we did as much cooler than back on the flat and nice cache easily found. Will definitely come back for a walking or biking adventure some time soon. TFTC
MTB ride was the reason for visiting the Wharfedale, but fun to have geocache to find too. Nearly muggled by a hunter arriving in the carpark.
What a beaut drive into here. Dropped off a wee purple monster car. Found the Corroberee Frog Geo Coin that was placed here in August just lying on the ground close to the cache. This wee frog must be wanting to hop off somewhere else so took him with us. Got a surprise when replacing the cache - a couple of heads popped up from nearby - didn't know they were there!!
Left home early and was at the summit for morning tea Great to see a decent size box, ah the old days.
Beautiful day - carried on after finding the cache to be eaten alive by sandflies at Ryde Falls :0
Quick find, all in good order, TNLN. Next walked a 22km circuit, at Wharfedale Hut for lunch.
Cache was quite hard to find. After searching through the soggy vegetation on a foggy, wet day, we found the cache and dropped off a GeoCoin. Interesting Drive! TFTC (118)
Why haven't more people found this cache?. It is easy. I thought at first I was going to have trouble with muggles, but they were well out of view of the site. Didn't have long to spend here to day. I was in the area with a bit of time to spare so I went up to the Mt Oxford turnoff to give my new boots a bit of a workout. I bumped into a group of foreign tourists who were wrestling with the problem of how to get past a muddy spot on the track I showed them how the Kiwis do it and they used my footprints as stepping stones. (mud was all of an inch thick!)
Cheers and thanks,

Was returning from tramping on the Wharfedale Trackwhile seaching for this cache. I managed to work out where it is but left it alone as there were two muggles having a picnic and they had a good view of all that was going on so I will leave this one for another day.
We had a great day up in the Oxford forest today, took mum upto the Ryde falls, we did the loop track and took the right hand track that heads down towards coopers creek, this is the easier way to go if you are walking the loop track and starting from view hill.
We spent a bit of time at the waterfall and it was really hot up there today, I took some rubbish out that some looser had left at the campsite by the falls.
We checked the cache , all is good , took a couple of minties for our walk, enjoy this area it's magic!!

Quite a warm day today, so we had lunch at the car-park and Cache was easily found. Thanks for the After -Dinner Mints !
Swapped TBs then headed off to Ryde Falls. Bit of a shame that the trees have grown and now obstruct the view of the waterfall. Anyway didn't stay long, sandflies near the river were rather hungry ! Completed the round trip in just on 3 hours at a leisurely pace with several short stops drinks / snacks.

Excellent start to a pleasant walk, the Mintos were most welcome. Did the Ryde falls loop on a superb afternoon. will do the Warfdale track later in the year.
Well, I left it for a few days, and then said to Mrs Grandalf "Oooh, its a lovely fine day - how about a walk on the Wharfedale Track?" - as you do!! I've been tramping and climbing there many times, and done all the trails and peaks, and stayed in all the huts. But never before has there been a cache at the carpark!! However, when we turned off onto the View Hill road, a sign said "Ford Closed!!" - oh well, maybe my 4WD Caldina can get through. Got to the first ford, and it was fairly obvious that it was too deep for a Caldina. Recent floods have washed out gravel, and the base was deep and bouldery. But of course, keen cachers are not to be deterred - we'll just walk in - all 4.55km in a straight line!! On went the tramping boots, and just as we were about to wade through, up came a big tank of a 4WD - which very kindly gave us a lift over the water (through it actually). So we had dry sox for the walk in along the road - and a very pleasant walk it was too - 1 hr 15 min each way. The cache was easy to find - thankfully - though it is well hidden from muggles. And I was FTF, as I'd hoped. Thanks Royal_Wulff for the FTF gifts - I took one, and a handful of the rest. Then we walked back out - and of course this time we had to wade the stream, but at least our dry shoes were in the car on the other side of the water. Left TB Sandy to enjoy the local beech forest, the Norwest wind, and the wonderful view of the snowy Torlesse Range. Many thanks and cheers from Grandalf(1150)
