I adopted this one from jnk but the time has come for me to archive it. Thanks to all who enjoyed it.. and there has been a few indeed.

Great Sudoku puzzle! Followed the trail, with help from CO when physical coords at stage 2 were missing, and found the cache in good condition. Thanks for keeping this one open for me, Gr33nslime!

26-Mar-21
I have had reports that the coords at physical WP2 are missing, again. Both myself and the previous owner have had problems with this so unfortunately it will have to be archived as I am not in a position to replace these coords again.

21-Nov-20
Got it this time! The CO kindly supplied the missing coordinates at Stage 2 and we were off to work through the next stages without problems and found the cache just where we had calculated it to be. It is in good condition and we have also restored the coordinates to their rightful place at Stage 2 so it should all be straightforward for future finders. We enjoyed this well put together puzzle with lots of variety, TFTC

07-Nov-20
Solved the Sudoku then struck a snag with Stage 2. I have messaged the CO to see if we found the correct item and if it is, then no further progress can be made.

06-Mar-20
Out and about with Flowerydaze doing some caching on a lovely sunny day. This was a bit of a mission for a multi/puzzle. Got into some trouble with the final coords and ended up completely in the wrong place so back to the last piece of the multi and reworked the final and got a much better result and soon had the cache in hand although it was overgrown after not being found for over a year. TFTC.

06-Mar-20
Came over from Kapiti to do a bit of caching with Talla64. It being a beautiful day I decided we would tackle this multi. No problems at all with the stages until we came to Stage 4 question H which we misinterpreted and ended up in the wrong place and at the wrong hint object. Looked again at the question, redid the maths and got something far more sensible. The cache was a quick find by Talla although he commented that it was a bit tricky to get at because the spot was getting rather overgrown. Nice puzzle, enjoyable walk, and the GZ was an area we had never been before. Thanks for the multi.

27-Apr-19
I can't recall when I completed the first part of this puzzle, but it was a very long time ago! Dropped by the WP with barefootguru (who completed this ages ago) and found the coords for WP2 without too much trouble. From there, the remaining WPs were fairly straightforward. I located the final quickly. Thanks for an interesting tour of parts of Petone I'm not familiar with, as well as the history lessons. TFTC Gr33nslime!

24-Feb-19
This cache might be my longest ever traversal of waypoints in terms of time. I'd solved the Sudoku a couple of years ago when I first started caching but I went to the first physical waypoint and DNFed it. For some reason I never returned until yesterday. I found what I was looking for within seconds of arrival this time. Experience makes all the difference. I like the way the coords are marked here.

Then I walked my way around the rest of the multi (I considered the e-scooter parked nearby). At stage 4 muggles were parked right where the info was that I needed so I deftly photographed what I needed and decided to return to my car at this point to finish it later. As I was working out the final I got impossible east coords. Huh? Then I had a real Raiders Of The Lost Ark moment; I only had one side of the medallion, the staff was too long and I was digging in the wrong place! (Those are references to the movie - there is no medallion, staff or digging in the multi!). So I drove around to the waypoint again and found the info I missed and got some decent coords. But now I didn't have enough time to get the final. So defer for a day.

Now at the final there was still something wrong. The coords and hint made no sense. Back to the car for a recalc. I did a refresh and all the info was different - I had been using old data. The photos were still on my phone so I worked it out again and got some new coords. Checksum fail. Do it again and finally got it right.

Back to the new GZ (not far from the old GZ) and the cache was a quick find there. Man, I made such a meal of that but it was great fun. If I'm honest I could have done without the Sudoku which doesn't really add much to what is otherwise a great multi.

Sorry if the log is unnecessarily verbose but some memorable adventures need to be recorded, TFTC. +FP!

What a great puzzle. I've been working on this one for some time, and slowly been visiting the waypoints until finally making it to the end. A quick find at the final, all good here. TFTC

Adopted this cache. Should be all good to go as I relocated the container and added a new log sheet when I was the most recent finder! Hope you enjoy this cache as much as I did.

# 1087 Wow, just realised this cache was placed 10 years ago! And what a great little cache, and hopefully long may it last.... a bit of a story here

Started with a team effort with the sudoku, i love them, but am definitely not as skilled as JimmyNZ who took 1/4 of the time to solve!

The first way point provided a stumbling block and I think my biases stopped me from searching all possibilities here so after contacting a friend, i made a second visit. Crafty way of hiding the coords - might keep that idea in a back pocket for another time.

The next way points had me feeling like I was doing the amazing race. Nipping backwards and forwards from the info source to the car where the scribble sheet was being kept nice and dry from the rain. Easy enough.

Heading to wards the final i had a sinking feeling as i got closer, eying up the piles of freshly mulched up wood chip... JimmyNZ will finish the story.

Great cache though, a great sense of achievement here! Gets a favourite from me... I hope this cache sticks around.

01-Oct-18
The host item has had a bit of a hair cut. CO informed about a possible new location for the bits of the cache.

01-Oct-18
Today was a day off work as I had family to visit in the weekend, hence decided I needed another day off and Gr33nslime make the pitch about going to get a multi cache that we had worked on previously.

So with the drizzle setting in we donned rain jackets, put DangerSAM in his might DangerSEAT and headed off to Petone.

Gr33nslime had all the relevant information written down and quickly had the first stage completed. We headed to the next set of coordinates and then set about going through all the puzzles.

This was an easy to follow and well thought out multi. I liked it even better because Gr33nslime volunteered to get out in the drizzle r=to retrieve all the data while I kept DangerSAM occupied in the car and wrote all the data down. All the questions were straight forward to answer and we had no issues with the checksums (thanks!).

Once we knew where the final was it was a short drive to a nearby car park where we all put our rain jackets on and went for a walk towards GZ. DangerSAM enjoyed the stroll and pointing to all the ducks enjoying the nearby water course and rather damp weather.
Gr33nslime was in the lead toward GZ and let out an ‘oh no’ as she was near. Upon looking up I knew what we would find, and sure enough Gr33nslime was standing near a newly cut pile of stumps.

Well you did not have to be an ultra good cacher to figure out what happened here. But before I had led DangerSAM to the site Gr33nslime uttered a ‘ha found it’ and proceeded to hold up a piece of cache. Turns out it was the lid with ‘Sudoku on Sladden’ written on it. Guess we were in the right spot at least. So now we were thinking, perhaps we were not too late and that the cache, while dislodge from its hiding spot, might still be around. Several more minutes of studying grass, bark, shrubs and wind blown rubbish eventually turned up trumps. We had a container, with lid, a cover and some cache items. Since Gr33nslime also had a replacement log and bag in her pocket we figured that we had enough to try reinstating the cache to a different location. At the very least if the CO wanted to renew the cache again, then they would not have to visit the site, just amend the coordinates.

Job done we all headed back up the valley for lunch. Thanks for the cache. This was a great multi, well thought out and gets a favorite from me as well.

#271 This one was a long time coming and much enjoyed. Initially solved the sudoku at home - love puzzles. Then needed some points during the Planetary Pursuit Challenge and for some reason didn't notice how many stages this Mystery. So got to about WP2 and wondered why I couldn't find the final - not to mention too many muggles for a proper search....returned on my birthday thinking it would be a quick muggle free search and find....we reread the description only to realise there were still more waypoints and information to collect!
Thoroughly enjoyed answering the questions for each stage and it was a lovely day to be out and about strolling in the sun with friends. My advice....read the final stage instructions CAREFULLY...we redid this bit twice as it got us in a muddle when we rushed it....
Awesome cache, hope to do more of your caches, particularly if you have other mysteries or multis TFTC

I think I parked in the right place for this one as I did this after going for A Bit of a Stretch. Quickly got the required information at the wp's then a little walk to the final. A quick find there as well. All in order. Thanks for the fun puzzle.

04-Jun-17
Stage 2 took 2 visits and sooo long: something magnetic within a scrapyard worth of metal… scrutinised, tugged, and pried every piece multiple times before finally came up trumps. Other than that was straightforward multi and quite the sense of achievement! Thanks J 'N' K.

28-Jan-17
A fun mystery multi. Able to complete each WP without too much difficulty and a nice spot for the final. Cache and log in good order. TFTC J 'N' K

02-Nov-16
This turned into something of a mission. Stuck initially at Stage 1 until the CO confirmed I'd been looking in the right place and offered a helpful pointer (Thanks!). Stages 2 & 3 followed easily a few days later, but pursuit of the final was rained off on that occasion. Today I made it to GZ, but it took a fair bit of scrabbling to uncover the well-hidden cache. FP awarded for a nice trail around the park - it's just a pity it took me so long! TFTC

19-Oct-16
Second attempt at this. I solved the Sudoku with an online solver and got a plausible location for the first waypoint. There are plenty of places there where a magnetic hide could be placed but few that wouldn't be very obvious. I had no luck so there was no more progress. Go home, check the sudoku solution and perhaps come back.

[Edit] When I posted this I'd forgotten that I'd checked the Sudoku solution online. I was definitely in the right place so now I'm out of ideas. Add to the watch list and go back if someone logs a find.

04-Sep-16
I solved the sudoku for this ages ago. However, when it came to WP1 I searched and could not find the clue to the next stage.

I've been watching this one for a while. The second to last time the owner did maintenance on WP1 I left it too long before going to have a look and it had been muggled. No such delay this time. The message came through around lunchtime and my daughter and I were off as soon as we saw it.

We parked near WP1 and had a nice walk.

Thank you

Cherrys Rule

Co-ords for stage 2 have been replaced again. If they disappear this time we will sadly have to archive this cache.

28-Aug-16
Matt beat me to finish the soduku puzzle, we couldn't locate WP1 after 2 looks so this morning I figured out where WP2 would be while Matt competed in the local marathon, walked there, and straight past, twice. Wp3 and 4 were good after that. A neat hide and lovely peaceful area. My first mystery as well as my first successful multi. Tftc. Traded earrings for the pretty pin.

01-Apr-16
waypoint replaced, good to go!

16-Mar-16
Waypoint missing. Will replace soon.

31-Dec-15
My last puzzle solve for 2015. Not much happening here. Rain is coming which will be good for the farm but not good for the poor campers. I enjoy these puzzles and my sodoku puzzle book is nearly finished so TFTP Smile

18-Oct-15
#1936 I had the sudoku solved but misplaced the piece of paper with my solution. With a general idea of where to look but not an entirely clear memory I PAF'd who got me started at WP1. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything there, even after a specific hint form the friend- could be missing? The friend gave me the co-ords to WP2 and I was away laughing after that. A great multi and a wonderful excuse to stretch the legs. TFTC!

24-May-15
Forgot a pen again. Really enjoyed this one. Fun and good to have some puzzles. Will bring the kids back to let them solve it too.

29-Mar-15
Solved the puzzle ages ago. Had a couple of goes at locating WP1 without success. Back today with Selesi for another try after Yeetrees helped confirm where WP1 was. Initial look without success but Selesi spotted something and hey presto located the pesky devil! Then off to WP2 & WP3 and eventually the final. Thanks for a great cache.

29-Mar-15
YAHOOOOO!!! found it at last Found with UlmusLynx The sudoku was ok the 2nd WP was our bug bear but once we had that we were away and laughing. TFTC

07-Feb-15
What a wonderful GZ. Its my first puzzle multi cache. With Br'er Bear encouragement I got the courage to start solving puzzle cache. Tftc

30-Dec-14
Found by the powers of deduction, solved Stage 1 easy enough to trotted off to stage 2 after about 30 mins looking and some nearby muggles starting to take an interest in what we were doing we abandoned our search. Not wanting to give up we set out to find stage 3 without the coords, having lived in the area we managed to find it easy enough allowing us to continue on our quest, oh how rewarding it was to come up with the cache at the final coords. TFTC

A dash in the dark to locate the cache with my partner in madness before work to keep a mystery cache steak going.

Seems this is a bit of a party spot for the locals. ... Should have bought a rubbish bag.

08-Jun-14
Day 6 of the 10 in 10 challenge, interesting spot for the final, with a caching partner who doesn't like dark lonely spots and a party central judging by the bottles etc. around. Final was obvious though.

Great cache, proved v. challenging but satisfying to have completed it. deserves a fav point from me Smile

13-May-14
found after nice walk down memory lane, my old school in a very bad way now. Picked up TB

13-Mar-14
Came back to finish this off today. First wp definitely the trickiest , information quickly found at the others, and check sums very much appreciated. TFTC. Left a TB.

08-Feb-14
Yess! I finally found this one.

I totally misread the instructions and spent almost an hour looking for the cache at the second waypoint. Doh!

Once I realised my mistake, it was another quick visit and a nice quick stroll and find.

TFTC!

05-Feb-14
Oh, what a long walk, especially when you start just nearby the final GZ and have a 16 kg weight on you almost all the time.
It was a good morning exercise, thanks))

29-Jan-14
Took six geocaching novices from work out on a lunchtime adventure. On a beautiful sunny day this went very well with three phones each running cgeo. They might still be there if they had to find the nano by themselves but soon recovered and managed to find all the other waypoints. There had been some discussion about much easier a 400ml container would be to find Wink. It turned out hilarious Big Grin with six people in and out of bushes all over the GZ. As the hint says it really is obvious so I eventually had to show everyone where the cache was and pull it out for signing. Unfortunately the commotion had caught the attention of a gardener who suddenly pulled up right beside us in his ute and looked like he was there to stay. Maybe he thought we were greenies about to chain ourselves to the tree. I had no option but to walk off with the cache and come back after work.

04-Jan-14
Nice puzzle cache. My kids enjoyed helping me with the clues. Having lived in the Hutt for over ten years, it's good to go to places I've never been to before. TFTC

worked on this sudoku ages ago (with a bit of assistance from a sudoku expert workmate!) but only just had the chance to do the outside stuff today. TFTC

01-Oct-13
I had never done a sudoku in my life, so this was a struggle ... with Tan1aNZ's help ended up getting a "result" that worked, after an initial hiccup. A sudoku expert knocked this off in double-short time. I'll persevere, but happy to use the solved coordinates to get to the rest of the trail. No problems at any of the other waypoints, and each was a spot i know well for various reasons (much cycling around Sladden Park).

Cache quickly found at GZ, and all in good condition.

TFTC!

01-Oct-13
A very good puzzle cache after figuring out the answer for the Sudoku and the questions.

30-Sep-13
Had heaps of fun finding this one . We got a bit off track but made it there. Took awhile to find Smile

30-Sep-13
I found it with jazz-alyssa and my big brother brocktk

19-Aug-13
Arr - I doin't knwo why I hadn't given this one a go ages ago, but I sat down tonight and rattled off the first part (its amazing what you can find on the internet these days) and off I went with my geohound. He enjoyed trip-trapping across the bridge and the gentle stroll through the stages. No trouble at the final as no-one was about tonight. All safe & sound. TFTP

13-Jul-13
Sudoku puzzle solved ages ago just waiting for just that 'right' occasion. Well that occasion occurred nicely today. While Mrs S and the youngest watched a football game on the turf went for a walk. First in one direction then in another and then a bit more along there. Wink No problems with any of the WP's, they all fell in to place quite nicely. A new area to stroll around and new discoveries - just what Geocaching is all about. Smile Final found with any issues and despite the rain we've had recently the cache is in good condition. Thanks for the tip about gumboots, definitely needed them today. TFTP&C

24-Jun-13
All sorted.

17-May-13
After a bit of confusion about the 2nd stage. The rest was pretty straight forward. Found with the wandering dragons. Tftc

Cache # 1,083 - Did today with Downunder Wanderer. We had both solved the initial puzzle (me so long ago I am embarrassed to admit), and made a go a few weeks back, only to find waypoint 2 not quite right. Some help from the CO set us on our way, and we returned today for a most pleasant stroll through this nice multi. Easy find at the end, and cache is in good order. Thanks for a well-designed cache!

03-May-13
Temporarily disabled as there appears to be a slight problem with stage 2. Will sort out soon.

02-Apr-13
A two day solve puzzle. Finished off with geo girl who made a quick find at the final. TFTP

28-Jan-13
Managed to check all stages/waypoints and everything is where it should be.

19-Jan-13
Need to check this one as there may have been some work done here that has affected one of the stages of the cache. Hoping to do this in the next couple of weeks.

23-Sep-12
I had solved the sudoku and visited WP1 some time ago but not been back to complete things. Today I was back in the area and soon had the rest of the WPs sorted and it was off to the final for a quick find. Thanks for a fun puzzle/multi and a great location. TFTC

31-Aug-12
This turned in to a two-day puzzle solving expedition as the area adjacent to Stage 4 was heavily infested with teenage muggles. Send the truant officer, I say. Anyway they were too close for comfort yesterday, so came back today at an earlier time and got the remaining info. just before the whole pack descended once again. Someone needs to introduce them to GC-ing.

The tuis were out in force this morning and it was just beautiful to listen to them. All well with the cache. TF an entertaining puzzle.

25-Apr-12
Spotted this showing unfound on the map, even though I was sure I had found it previously.
Went back today (10/12) to check that I had the correct cache.
Sure enough I had signed the logs nearly 8 months ago!

22-Apr-12
Good puzzle, quickly solved. Each WP was easily dealt with and on to the final.

15-Mar-12
Third find for the night with JardisLikeTardis. With her maths skills and my torch, we soon had all the necessary digits to collect the final.

15-Mar-12
Solved the initial sudoku puzzle last year and picked up the info at stage 2 many months ago. Completed the remaining parts of the puzzle tonight during a caching tour of the Hutt with Kjwx. Nice spot for the final hide. TFTC

Started this some time ago and had the opportunity to finish today. Loads of fun, thank you Smile

13-Nov-11
I worked out the Sudoku months ago, and was in the area for lunch today so what better way to walk off lunch than to go search out some Geocaches. Lovely sunny day and didn't need gumboots at GZ. SL TFTC.

13-Nov-11
found on a warm sunny day

17-Oct-11
K is out on a caching maintenance afternoon. Thought I should check this one as it hasn't been found since January, but all is well. Also checked the other waypoints and there should be no problems here.

#1881 (4/6 on a Tuesday afternoon). An intersting ramble on a hot afternoon. TFTC.

04-Jan-11
Had a pleasant walk around the WPS, all areas new to me. Thanks for an interesting multi.

03-Jan-11
Loved the challenge. Found the WP before we could solve the waypoint clue. Good hiding place. Agree with the hint for Stage 4!! Well done!!!

03-Dec-10
Awesome. I enjoyed this one

02-Dec-10
Lots of fun. Thanks

29-Oct-10
This was a cache of two halves.
Found the first stage no problem at all (though to be honest I am not a Sudoku fan, more of a word puzzle than numbers person!) However it was almost dark and my travels needed me to go in a diffeent direction, so decided to do the rest the next evening i.e tonight.
I must have written the coords down wrong because I ended up at a spot which obviously was not correct, was about to give up and go back to recheck when I stumbled upon the correct WP. It turned out that the wrong one I was at was actually only a few metres from the following stage, and I had been to that location another time! Final was an easy find but once again it was getting dark by the time I had sorted out the error and done the last WP. This was a good thing though because there was little or no chance of being muggled.
Was reasonably familiar with the park and had walked most of the area before, but still learned something and had not been in the close proximity of the final location for many years (I used to live not far from this area once.)
TFTC and for the tour, a very educational and interesting multi. TNLN.
Note: was passing WP1 tonight so confirmed that I had made an error, was very lucky that it was such that it ended up being so close and easy to find the next WP, I could have ended up in the river or on the railway lines Surprised

Did the math at home. Did the walking on site. Loved the rail bridge experience - weekend time, so no trains. A passing train would make the bridge walk just that more exciting!

Found the cache in order, signed the log, and rehidden safely, as found.

TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too Smile
The Turtle strikes again!

Found it today with Barri-Ster & Hugo the dog. Started this one a while ago, couldn't find it at old location. Did the second last stage again as it seems to have changed a bit. Soon found cache. SL TFTC

We did the first three stages of this cache on a previous visit to the North Island over a year ago. Today we finished it off, experiencing some temporary difficulty at the final, until we discovered that some of the questions, and the final coordinates, were now different from what was printed on our sheet. Have replaced cache in a new area and updated the clues. Please let us know asap if there are any problems. Dropped off Czech Heart of Europe Geocoin

Now we know why the hint doesn't help anymore - the final hidey hole had disappeared altogether. We found the cache some way from where it should have been. Will replace soon in an area nearby.

07-Jun-10
Pretty wet and muddy at final, searched for quite a long time, but wasn't very obvious to me. Will try again - enjoyed the WP's and puzzle.

Nice day for an afternoon walk. Final hint not quite true but found it in the end. GPS was a fair way out. dropped off TB (hope it doesn't break the container) TFTC

Finally after almost a year... Solved the puzzle a year ago.. But couldn't find WP1.. And then it slipped off my radar till a month ago, when we found WP1 and solved WP2 and WP3... Then today we finally went to find the final.. Got to GZ but the "obvious" hint didn't help.. So had to PAF who gave me a more obvious hint and then found the cache very exposed just lying there (as per the last cachers comment as well).. Glad to have this one off my list finally.. T4TC
