Today we decided to do the loop around Lake Aviemore and also walked up the Deep Stream Track. We managed to find 27 caches though had a couple of DNFs.We went round the lake in an anti clockwise leaving from Otematata. We parked up and wandered over to this one - quickish find after a bit of a search TFTC Tim and Viv - ddm
Nice little diversion here. Lovely spot, and less close to the edge than I originally thought. TFTC!!South Australia is the place be for GCA1DNA - MEGA - February 29th, 2024 in Adelaide! Hope to see you at The Great Leap Forward!
Found with StreetWalkerNZ on day 2 of our Waitangi weekend to Kurow and surrounds. Today we are doing a loop trip, travelling the road east of Lake Aviemore, then up to Omarama for a late lunch back south to Kurow, finding 55 caches along the way.
Lots of tracks around here, some in better condition than others, and we managed to make this a drive by. Cache was a quick find. TFTC.

#19305. The concrete wall of the diversion was a good place to balance on and take a photo of the dam. TFTC.
In Kurow for the long weekend and today's geoadventure started off with a walk up Kurow Hill. Plenty of snow on the hills but a beautiful winter's day and hardly a cloud in the sky! First mission completed so now to head to Otemetata with a wee detour here first. A nice quick find here TFTC
Decided to make a trip to Duntroon over the Dansey Pass. Lots of logs to find and sign and this one was one of them. Day and it begins again. TFTC
Out with BaldEd picking up a few caches around the Aviemore and Benmore dams area.
I wasn't diverted from my mission to find the cache.
Cheers for the cache.

Thanks for the cache, we have never been here before and went up the gravel road above and looked down on the dam.
I found the cache while Sarmeli16 was braving the heights to look at the view. Log is a bit damp

A quick stop and find. No water coming over the spillway today. Cheers.
Off on a caching weekend with Kiwi Moose, to the Waitaki and slightly beyond. Great weather, great place to be, great company, and more than a few little plastic boxes.
Thanks to all of the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

What a great spot for a cache and I'm guessing a good spot for fishing too. A nice little drive just up from our camp at Te Aka. Tftc. Worth a Fav Point

An easy find while out walking in the evening, while camped at Fisherman's Bend
We were in this area a year ago and crossed the dam but for some reason that I can't remember we didn't venture further to this cache. Interesting cache description. TFTC #7993
We are traveling around New Zealand. We are so glad that we can discover this beautiful country. We enjoy it so much. This cache was found during our travel.
Thank you. Greetings from Czech Republic

Headed down south with C&D and 11HPG11 for the CHCH Mega as part of the HOAC team, and decided that a Mega road trip/Mega Mission was the right thing to do. After a great day caching from Dunedin to Omarama we manged to get a few hours sleep before the big day 2 started.
Day 2 was the start of a ambitious plan to try and find as many caches as possible in one day! To maximise our chances of a big number we decided a 24 hour caching day was the only way to go. What an epic day, and some great moments too. The rough idea was to cache from Omarama to Oamaru, and then head north towards Christchurch. A huge thanks to everyone for the cache placments, and I apologise for the copy and past logs.
Find #40 for the day.

This was the start of a MEGA caching weekend in the company of good caching friends. In the company of both HKCB & 11HPG11 this was going to be another memorable caching road trip for many reasons.
This is the mission that we had set ourselves up for several months back. It was HKCB's idea, I was just dumb enough to think it was a challenge and I'd be up for it, 11HPG11 was silly enough to come along for the ride once we confirmed a spare seat (Nova Lightening pulled out for family reasons).
We were going to try to beat the NZ one day record in New Zealand (it would have been easier with 4 people), so after 2.5hrs sleep after a good feed at Omarama we were ready to go. This was the fourtith on what was to be an epic day with what amounted to 401 caches collected for the day and about 38 DNF's. We managed this with 10minutes to spare but by this time we were done for and still had to drive back to Kaiapoi. All in all an epic days caching with good friends and something I don't think any of us will repeat in a hurry.
All in all it was going to be a big day with a number of challenges, great sceanery, and of course great company. Fantastic driving along and up here as the landscape was so different from what we are used to back in the Waikato. One good thing about backroads being that we could continue our neferious activites without being disturbed by muggles.
Nice quick find here without any issues .
thanks for the placement , thanks for the cache

What a Mega Mission for a group of Hamilton Over Achievers! A great trip, a long time in the planning. I teamed up with Cats&Dragons and HKCB to grab a couple of caches while in Christchurch and surrounding areas for the 2015 Mega Event. We flew out from Auckland on Friday night and traveled to Dunedin in the dark of the night. Stopped for a few hours sleep before setting off to grab caches in the Otago area on Saturday before attempting a few more on Sunday and then arriving at the Mega on the Monday. An amazing, yet crazy road trip
When C&D mentioned a day with over 400 caches I should have turned and ran... instead I said yes, and here we are. 401 caches in 23 hours and 50 minutes. All done on about 2.5hr of sleep. It was hard work with only 3 of us and there were times that were hard and tiring but I still had a blast! An amazing experience that one has to be slightly crazy to even consider
No problems on this one, thanks for the placement

Found with quinella after caravan overnight. Dog loves the walk too although he's a bit puzzled why we have to keep stopping and poking around all the time. Saw the tunnel too. Tftc
Sure had to hang on in the gale today. I was interested in the diversion of the river as I was here filming the event for TV News way back then.
It was so windy at this spot I was worried that the junior dakotacat was going to get blown off the ground. Fluffyduck38 found this one. Cheers Bitsprayer.
Nice spot, quick find, replaced just as another group arived to take in the view
Looked for this one a couple of years ago but it had been smuggled, glad to find it this time. tftc

Found it by escaping from rain of the West Coast on the way to the East Coast what shall we say after passing the mountains sunshine and a lot of caches TFTC
relaxed find on great day. i think i was the only person on this side of the lake. tftc.
Thanks Bitsprayer, you certainly have shown me some good locations and interesting areas. SL TFTC
I wonder what was the purpose of the concrete wall that juts out over the cliff near the cache.
Set Charlotte off in her kayak, and then set off myself. Interesting site, although there is not much evidence now of what must have been a massive undertaking.
