Staying at Aire river easy campground and thought this would be a nice easy find. Walked out to the beach and along the shore only to realise I should have taken the GO walk much further back. Decided to continue along the beach to the GO walk as it was low tide. Would NEVER attempt this at high tide. Met up with the walk further along and followed the track through some beautiful scenery to arrive at GZ. Have searched high and low and everywhere in between and had no luck at all. Will have to log this as a dnf and try again another day.
TFTC. Found on a Christmas Eve walk of the great ocean walk. Gorgeous view here.Logbook is extremely wet. Im afraid, Im not sure how it got wet because it looks pretty waterproof container. I am doubtful that my signing is legible.Im a bit surprised it hasnt been muggled because its not camouflaged and is in a spot that must be fairly busy. But if its been here since 2008, well done!
We had a beautiful walk along the coastline and of course, came across this cache. Could be found pretty easily. Tftc MatzE346
On my day hike from Castle Cove to Cape Otway I came along this pretty cache with an even prettier view! Easy to find...
The Colombian doing for second time the GOW but this time with his girlfriend
Definitely a great view, tftc watched the sunset as we are a bit behind schedule on our GOW. Easy find for kimmy+co
Tftc out walking the Great Ocean Walk with tash2494 and a friend. What amazing views from here!
Walked up to find this cache while camping at the nearby camp ground. Certainly a great view to enjoy. This was just a very small taste of the Great Ocean Walk, but enough to make us think about returning to walk the entire walk. Thanks for place the cache here.
Day 4 of our Great Ocean Walk and this was nearing the end of the days trek. We found a suitable and scenic spot to drop packs a little further on and wandered back for the find. It was a very good opportunity to rest and recover before the terrible downhill sand section. Thankfully I have no need to walk up that section - what a challenge that would be.
I found this cache as I was completing the Great Ocean Walk. While I was looking I came across this Uno card stapled to the bottom of the rail. I'm unsure about why someone would do this, but the thought process intrigued me as it meant they carried the card and a staple gun to the lookout! At GZ, the cache was found without too much trouble and my name was added to the list. Thanks for placing this one here and adding to my daily adventures.
We walked a piece of the Great Ocean Walk ...Just onto the little cemetery. Tftc
Dy 4 of 7, luxury walking the Great Ocean Walk with friends, all from Western Australia.
the Great Ocean walk is a gorgeous place for my first multi day camping hike.
The views are stunning and the scenery changes from coastal to rainforest.
Thanks for the cache and moment to pause and take in the view.

Such an awesome way to finish off the trail with this view and find. The container was just a little damp and out of its home but has been put back.

Logging as found one year later! I did the GOW 100km hike back in February 2022, and randomly came across this geocache which was sitting fully exposed somewhere it shouldn’t have been. I signed log and re-hid for the next finder. TFTC!
One of the more easiest geocaches I've ever found, in the sense that I wasn't actually trying to geocache at the time I found it! Was enjoying the Great Ocean Walk hike and came across a suspiciously familiar looking sistema container right in full view sitting on the top of the post. Hmmm... could it be? Well yes it was. I rehid the cache to where I thought was a better hiding place. TFTC
Camping on the east side of the Aire River, so after a morning spent touristing at Cape Otway and a leisurely afternoon read at the campground in the sun, I headed up to this cache. The sand certainly makes for a tough ascent, but it was a nice track (especially when the sand went away) and great views at the end.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Found during a 6 day trip along the Great Ocean Walk It has been a fair challenge doing around 20 km each day but well worth the effort It took me a bit of searching to locate this one but it is too large to miss if you keep looking TFTC
What an amazing view! Day 1 of 5, finishing the GOW together with Parkermon. Didn't have a pen handy, so took a picture of what's left of the log. TFTC!!
Found with Exportswede, day 1 of hiking from Cape Otway to Twelve Apostles. Absolutely stunning views all along so far, but this one takes the cake. Didn't think to bring a pen (bad cacher ) but have taken pic of log as proof. TFTC!
WoW! What an amazing view. This is why we love geocaching. Legt a favorite point to appreciate the location, cache was found easily...
Found early this morning, after a kafuffle at the cape otway cache, so was glad to take the short stroll down to the lookout and have a much needed rest.
Log is just some scraps of paper, but it has plenty of room left!
Thanks for putting a cache here oh so long ago.

On a 3 day hike along on the Great Ocean Walk (GOW), of which this was day 1 from Cape Otway to Aire River. What a great spot and from here we could see our destination down the hill. The cache was quickly located and signed. Thanks

Thank you for bringing us here. We love these geocaches. A walk and a view! Great views of the river and ocean.
Second day on the GOW, and doing pretty well for this 3 day phase... A good spot to regroup here, and while we waited for the girls to catch up, we did some scouring around and located this cache pretty easily.
Great view here, and a tantalising glimpse of tonight's campsite!

Never had we ventured into Aire River before, so today we not only enjoyed the drive into the camping ground but also the small hike up to the cache along The Great Ocean Walk track. The views were amazing to see with the ocean in front of us and the river flowing to our left, what amazing place this is!
The cache was found in good health on this hot summers day.
Thanks Geewok for the placement in this beautiful spot.

Found it! Nearing the end of our 3rd day’s walk on the GOW, there was another great view, this time with a cache. It was a quick find. We were so pleased to see Muggle Wen waiting at the end of our walk with cool refreshments. Muggle John was finishing off another masterpiece by the riverside and soon joined us in the shade. TFTC SL
Found during student hike - great view and a satisfying way to finish the day!
It is a lousy cold and rainy day. It's raining heavily, I just put a piece of paper with my name in the cache in order not to make everything wet. In fine weather certainly a beautifull place

Ms FB attended the Lavers Hill School this morning, to fill in time, how about a smilie!
It is Winter and the road in was easily accessible with the family 4x2. Grateful for the recent rain as the loose sand on the track had some firmness making walking easier.
Had a little but not big hunt at the GZ and had no luck. However, found container left by Feary84 with plastic bag and two small sheets left by nighteez. (The co-ords were spot on for Feary's replacement.)

Found nighteez temporary cache and replaced with a 1.2l camouflaged Sistema and left pen. Well worth the effort. Perhaps cache owner could confirm or endorse new cache.
I didn't find the original but found nighteez' note so I'm going to log this as a find anyway
Great views.
Great views.
Made a thorough search but like others before me I could not find the original cache. So I left a sealed bag with a few log pages under a small rock with the hope that a future finder can improve on the container. Our third day on the GOW track. TFTC
Day 4 of the GOW. Great views over the ocean and Aire river. We searched for a while and since the last logs indicated it may be missing we abandoned the search. Looks like the cache may have been muggled.
I was at this beautiful place in the morning a long time after the last find. That is really a VIEW, an amazing place and so quiet and natural.
I was looking all around but there was no trace of it. I think its gone but contacted the owner with pictures for confirmation.

This cache was no drive-by - I parked in Apollo Bay and walked 45km to get here!
Great views. Took TB.
Thanks for the cache, Geewok.

Great views from here. Hiked from Cape Otway to Aire River with scouts. Left travel bug from overseas scout troop wanting it to travel to Australia. Thought the Great Ocean Road Hike would be a great place for it to visit. Great cache and awesome views! I agree would be tough climb coming from Aire River end.
We went for a really nice walk up to this cache on a windy day and enjoed the fantastic views. Thank you for hide.

We had the caravan at Aire River West. Decided to go for this later on a hot afternoon on the promise of extra beer if we got it. That soft sand was a killer going up but so nice going down with cold beer beconing. Great views up there. TFTC.
Team BAPHA found this on day 2 of our 3-day walk along the Great Ocean Walk. TFTC. Took Occoneechee Scout Reservation Coin and will pass along.
After trying to get close to it in the 4WD we decided we had to start adventuring up the great ocean road walkway we come to the beautiful lookout. After a good search we sited the cache, seems someone had thrown it into the bushes not even my dog could get to it. After filling in the log we dropped occoneechee scout TB. Great spot thanks
Stopped for about 20 minutes at this spot on day 3 of the GOW but had no success finding the cache. Pity!
Found after lots of searching. Awesome spot for a cache and very well hidden.
Whilst camping at Aire River I did the walk up to this fantastic escarpement lookout - disappointed to not find this cache - but I believe it has been muggled for sure - I looked everywhere as per hint instructions. FYI Geewok Regards Sarian
I had a good hard look for this one to no avail. After 10km hike, I was very tired and could not be stuffed.
found it by mistake! is a nice spot for hiding a cache!

This cache reminded me of how old and unfit I have become. After a long climb was rewarded with a magical view and an easy find for the cache. Left a metal bluebird bookmark. TFTC
We were busy admiring the view and feeling proud (and exhausted) for having hiked across from Cape Otway in less than 3 hours. SamCarter produced the cache from seemingly nowhere, and after signing the log she took a photo of us wondering how long it would take us to do the last little bit of the walk down to the bridge over the river. Great spot for a cache. TFTC.
This find was on the final day of our little expedition to do some of the Great Ocean Walk. The Scouts had hot-footed it from Cape Otway in well under the suggested time, and were rewarded with the excellent view. I enjoyed the view, too, but I also enjoyed finding this cache, not least because it was my 1000th gc find (something I forgot at the actual time, which just shows how much I was enjoying the view and the company and the idea of getting down to Aire River and taking my pack off ... since I'd been carrying it for nearly three hours!). Thanks Geewok for putting this cache in such a great spot; my travelling coin passes through in tribute and to clock up some kms and celebrate my 1000th find.
Found it! Walking the GOW and a nice easy find. I arrived on the level from the East and then had to descend the path!!! Walking poles are good!

MEDIC, ......I needed resuscitation by the time I got to the top, wow the never ending hill. Many thanks to the Burkah Boyz for their assistance
Most enjoying walk once you get to the top and that view..........could have stayed there for hours. Brilliant spot for a cache ! For once GeoJack found the cache first, they must at last have listened to my guidance on seeking skills
As stated the trip back down was quite quick, I rolled more than walked
Many TFTC has to be one of the nicest walks I have been on.

Quite a stiff climb up from the carpark, much relieved when track headed in the right direction. No reception on the iPhone so had to find the cache without any info. However LZZ(f) exercised good logic and had the cache in hand at 3:50pm. Left a Geocaching Australia sticky label. TFTC
Quick find following the hint. The others in the group where amazed when I approached GZ counting down, and produced a geocache in a location where we had stopped for a break. Found while walking the great ocean walk. TFTC
Great walk and view over the ocean! I was a bit afraid of searching the cache because we saw a snake on our way thru the little forest! Unfortunately it was too fast to take a photo, so I'm just able to load up a photo of a caterpillar!

Staying at Bimbi Park so walked in along the cliffs to GZ then returned via the beach. Great walk and superb views especially at GZ. An easy find which made the walk back a little easier. TFTC Geewok
This one proved why we should have the premium membership, we had no phone signal and just winged it. Haha we walked and climbed from the beach was dangerous but we thought the view would be worth it thanks to the gps we found the lookout and an easy route home haha tftc

Found at 16:45 hrs on the way back of ~20km walk with the uni outdoors club. We started our walk from the Aire River West Campground, where we were camping. Walked straight past the cache and walked 400 odd metres down the track before I even realised there was a cache along the track so soon. We would return along the beach so I was saddened that I may not get the chance to find it in the end. Later in the day we also walked straight past 'Cache Otway' but I had to pass that one up as well because everyone was hungry, we were hunting for a lunch spot (found the walk in camp site quite handy for this) and I didn't want to say "hang on wait up, I'm just searching for a small plastic box". Well over lunch someone asked me if I ever used my GPSr to find treasure chests hidden in the bush. By that point it was too late to backtrack. The walk on the beach was a refreshing change from the walking tracks, then we left the beach and began heading towards the cache again. Woohoo, might just get the chance to find it I thought. At this point we saw some black cockatoos, an echidna and a wallaby, all in clear view on the walking track, so if you make the extra distance from the cache to the beach, never know what you may see! Finally at GZ I mentioned to some others that there was a treasure chest hidden here, which wasn't met with a lot of enthusiasm as they all wanted to get back to the camp site, though I think the appreciated the short rest in the end, while I quickly found the cache and signed the log. They also thought it was quite cool. So thanks Geewok, it was a nice little intro to Geocaching for the others.
Left a TB that I picked up in Germany (funnily enough there was a German in our group and he was the own started the conversation about the treasure).

We were not paying attention to the track on our first visit and ended up all the way at the beach. After getting back to the car we noticed that we had missed the track to the left. Weary legs meant this cache would wait another day for a visit from Pen.Sco. Fresh and rested the next morning we headed to the GZ with too much trouble. Pen found the cache with minimal searching and the log was signed. Fantastic View and several photo's were taken to remind us of the trip. 20 minutes back to the car and on to the next. TNLN T4TC
