So a little walk up Mt Ngungun which is suitable for children....whoa! But I made it to the top and was delighted to find out that my efforts would also be rewarded with an Earth Cache.
Nyssaflutterby invited me on an adventure- sunset up here. I had for some reason thought this would be a walk in the park and while people passed us with bare feet and young children I struggled my way up the hundreds of rock stairs. I hated the last rock scramble section and was glad to make it past there only to realise I wasnt actually at the summit yet! I was the first of our group up there so I sat for a while at the first of the big rocks and waited for the crowds to roll in. I did go to the summit with Nyssa eventually but I did not enjoy it! Beautiful views made up for the hard work though. Tftc
A nice walk up the mountain on a beautiful sunny day. A little chilly at the top but great views of some of the other glass house mountains.
Loved this hike. We had such great views because the weather was perfect. TFTCLove the stories around these Mountains!
Today we visited the Glass House Mountains in beautiful weather. It was a lovely hike up to the summit. Once we reached the top, we enjoyed the fantastic view and took a break. Thanks for the cache Team sissifalke
While attending an event on the mountain I thought to undertake the EarthCache as well. Great location, views and very happy to be up here on a Monday morning. Thanks Konie
Hiked up Mount Ngungun this morning for the event hosted by georode. The views did not disappoint. Thanks for the EC Konie!
Answers sent. Logging in anticipation of the ok.Climbed here this afternoon after doing Tibtogargan and wild horse earlier. Took about 20 minutes to summit. It was very busy at the top, but well worth the effort.
Today my little junior and I made a small hiking tour to Mt. Ngungun. It was really cloudy today but in spite of the clouds we sweated a lot in our way to the top. It was a really nice way up.On the top I enjoyed this awesome view to the other glashouse mountains. Thank you for this EC.geovi
I had teed up to walk this mountain with Nathan this morning. It was supposed to be an early start but the prospect of a FTF down at Bribie did put a little shift in our plans. With that done we then set off to get back on track and go for our walk. This one was important for me as it held a particular attribute that I needed for a challenge cache. It is pretty common knowledge that I like my challenge caches and today I will finish off another. While I am up here for the earth cache it was still a great walk up and WOW there are so many people up here walking this trail. So many with different reasons for being there. I love people watching at this was an interesting place to sit and watch today. Thank you for bringing me up here, I enjoyed the walk and the view.
After nabbing the FTF on another Earthcache at Sandstone point it was time to head to Mt Ngungun to grab this much needed Earthcache for Chamad, well, and me since I enjoy them.Ive never climbed Ngungun before but from what Ive heard its a relatively easy climb that doesnt require much effort, perfect! We took our time heading up while having a quick break here and there for a breather and to admire the cave which would a very pleasant spot for another Earthcache, any takers? After an enjoyable walk we finally reached the summit and I was in awe, such a stunning view with plenty of things to look at. After a brief break we gathered the required information than slowly made our way back down. What a fantastic adventure so heres a FP for the overall experience. Thanks for bringing us here.#4161 - TFTEC
I've been wanting to climb Ngungun for a long time. Great views although a little crowded for my liking. Thanks for the earthcache Konie
On my roundtrip along Australia with Oopie we are douing always some caches. So we make the answers together and with your permission, Oopie wil sent the answers.CO thanks for bringing us on this nice places and making this caches.
Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. Started on the 17th September in Cairns. Our plan is driving.along the eastcoast down. Then in the south on to Adelaide and from there ending the 31th October in Alice Springs.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.All the CO's, and in this case Konie, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.
Apologies for the late log here (08.01.24) but I've had a busy time since getting back to the UK.I did a lot of cool stuff today, but this was the high point, I think. Perhaps literally too; it's a good climb up. Looking at photos of me at the top I had an absolute blast so FP+1 for a memorable experience. Answers coming via Messenger and an outsized THANK YOU for setting this up here; I wouldn't have dragged my sorry ass up here without it, and then I'd have missed something magical.TNLN-Virtual. TFTEC!SP (UK) on an epic trek right around the world.
We are on our long-awaited journey around the world in 99 days. Second try after canceling in 2020.
Our fourth stop after Los Angeles, Hawaii and New Zealand is Australia.
This time was of course used to find some geocaches here.
Today we were visiting the Glass Mountains and while that we were searching for the Earthcache **The Glass House Mountains - Mount Ngungun**
At the summit the needed answers where found quickly and after sending them, ther is a new smile on our geocaching map!
At least we would like to take this opportunity to thank Konie for creating this Earthcache!

We made it up in 17 minutes to enjoy the sunset. Unfortunately it was raining so we enjoyed a drink and wandered down again. Tftc
We have wanted to climb Mt Ngungun for ages and we finally had the chance today while spending the weekend on the Sunshine Coast. We were awake early so set off to beat the heat.
It was a great walk up and we were surprised to see more stairs than we were expecting. The views up the top are awesome and well worth the walk. A great way to start the day, and a location worthy of a FP. Tftc Konie

I finally made it back to the top of this mountain. The track has changed since last time I was here 10 years ago and now it is an easy half hour round trip.
Thanks for an Earthcache on top of this amazing mountain!

Was nice to see an old geofriend and take a walk to this summit. I needed this today. Even though the weather wasn’t great it was surprisingly busy. Thank you for this Earthcache. Beautiful views.

A surprise call from wayn0 made this walk possible. Glad all the mother's day celebrations are out of the way when he did.
I've been wanting to climb this mountain as I've already done all the others but preferred to wait for an invite as I'm terrified caching alone. At least with a geobuddy, I don't have to have a violent discussions with myself!
Thanks for the earthcache and taking us here Konie. Perfect weather - not too hot/cold, the hills/mountains looked so dramatic with the clouds. Enjoyed the walk, scenery and company.

Thanks so much for the cache.
Love love love the glass house mountains hikes. I was doing them for years before I discovered geocaching.
Thanks for updating it regarding the information board aswell. It was hot sitting up there googling butterflies last time we attempted

Staying in pelican waters with family and they suggested we do this walk today so of course I checked for caches first. Really enjoyed the view from the top, wasn't so good with the journey up but that's normal for me.
Apparently the weekends here are even busier than it was today which was more hectic than I'm used to on my bush trails. Good to see folk out enjoying the scenery.
We were lucky enough to have the summit to ourselves when we finally got there (other than the march flies of course ). I sat, thinking about my answers while looking at the view and a very pretty butterfly hanging with me. The next man at the summit didn't know what sort of butterfly it was but could answer my questions about the surrounding orchard trees (avo and macca) . Then a group of other women asked him about the surrounding mountains so he rattled them off too. The way down was much easier with some gentle rain to cool us off. Tftc, fav point from me.

Out caching with the Tough Mothers (Bennyboppers and Lisylou). This hike has been on my list to do for a long time. A great walk to amazing 360 degree views. TFTC and for bringing us here!
This was an awesome walk to the top, the 360 degree views are beautiful, here with lisylou and mnance101 for the weekend.
Visited here with bennyboppers and mnance101. We were a little stumped about question one, but realised the information board has been updated. A good walk, a little puffy and hot to get to the top, but great views from the top. A pleasant walk down. Tftc
As this is the Earth Cache weekend I decided to climb Mt Ngungun again. I got an early start so that I could get a car park and headed up on a lovely morning. It is a great little climb with an awesome view from the top. I sat on the summit for a while chatting to a French man who now lives in the area. Thanks Konie for this one.
What a great day! This has been on my todo list for far too long. A casual conversation with TeamARF another a previous adventure discovered he was happy for the walk too, so a plan was hatched.
Had a race with a mighty competitor, who incidentally gave me some cheek with his ‘I’m faster than you’ comment as we graciously let his family go first, so I could spend some extra time soaking in the nature . Let it be known that I over took that toddler at the top when he had to have a sit down and banana break. I forged on and made it to the top rock and grabbed my souvenir selfie. Before making the way back down (I also beat that kid down the mountain ).
Team ARF and I we looking everywhere for the butterfly info, hoping a sneaky sign would pop out and reward our excellent efforts. Sadly it was not the case and reading logs it seems the signs must have been updated.
I loved this walk and will return with the boys and hopefully take my mum up too as I got her up Coolum.

This one has been on the to do list for some time. Today met up with JACS for the walk.
The day started a few hundred cars away from the entrance. Seems with the cloudy weather that everyone has given the beach a miss for a walk up Ngungun. I saw more people walking the track and at the summit than I've encountered at footy grand finals or the Queen Street mall.
And competitive, JACS had a race / duel with a pint size person walking with his parents. My eyes were more on the fashions with many varied boob tubes on show. Thoroughly enjoyed the walk and view, a FP for your efforts Konie.

Today, I joined karicka with a few minor hikes around the Glass House Mountains. This was a late plan change due to wind warnings for southern ranges, with karicka wanting to do *Cookie monster*. That turned out to be a quicker find than what we had anticipated, so we then headed up other mountains, which included Mount Cooee, Mount Ngungun, and Mount Beerburrum. We also walked the Yul-yan-man track, targeting the *Yul Yan Man Track - Glass House Mountains* Adventure Lab, which was an approximate 10 km hike completed in about 3.5 hr (which included the added Mount Beerburrum detour). Once karicka departed, I ascended Mount Tibberoowuccum ("Castle Wing"), and then headed back home via Caboolture.
It took karicka and I about 40 min all up to return back to the car park: 20 min up, 5 min at the summit, and 15 min back down, so not a bad effort! I had jogged up Mount Ngungun a few times before, but that was pre-geocaching, and so upon reflection, I probably had a few photos of me at the top of this summit to actually log this EarthCache, but it is always fun to hike up the Glass House Mountains anyway!
I previously visited the posted coordinates (base of the hike) on 21/02/2021, where we tried to obtain the answers for Question 1. There is no information on the three species of butterflies at all, and upon further investigation and research, I managed to find the old information board online, which does match the current information sign. Consequently, I think that question needs to change / be updated.
An enjoyable climb, and the large cave midway along the ascent route was pretty interesting. Once we made it to the summit, we took our rest and obligatory selfie photos, where we enjoyed the 360 degree views of the surrounding plains and other Glass House Mountains. We discussed and collected the remaining EarthCache questions, of which we sent to the CO for verification. Thanks Konie for the EarthCache placement and organisation.

A friend invited me for a 'hike' and she said it would be easy and the kids would love it. I didnt know there was an earth cache here untill we got there. I literally would have given up half way if i didnt want to log this earth cache!! I also carried my 3 year old on my shoulders so i think i deserve this one!! Lol
Hubby and I had the day off today so after school drop off we went for a walk. Lovely spring day for it. Fabulous walk which takes you past ferns, lots of gums although we saw no koalas and then up to the summit for amazing views.
I’m not that fit but hubby (who is fit) and I made it up in less than 30 minutes.
Thank you Konie for having this EC here. A FP from me.

Today climbed up to the ngungun. Amazing views and enough easy mountain to climb up for the person who is a bit afraid of heights. Tftc!
This has been on my target list for a while, but last time I went the tracks were closed for renovation. I was free this morning and in need of a walk, so decided today was the day. Car park was very busy for a weekday morning! All clues gathered and answers sent. TFTC!
The kids thought that climbing Mt Ngungun would be an awesome way to end the school holidays, so we set off early today for a day long Glasshouse adventure. We even managed to pick up some stray kids along the way.
We picked up some answers for the earthcache and headed up. And up! I have done this as a child and teenager and it seemed so much longer back then. We enjoyed the views and the cave (which is now fenced off - I don't remember it being fenced off when I was in my teens) and eventually made it to the top.
We met some really interesting people along the way. Appears there was a first date, and the aspiring couple met in the car park, and travelled along just ahead of us. By the cave they had already decided that they weren't a match but were glad they gave it a go. She bailed at the cave and he kept going. I guess true love is hard to find.
Behind us was a little kid dressed as superman and his amazing dad, who had a drone to take videos! Amazing! That kid must have been about 4 years old and was an absolute legend legging it to the top without a whimper. Apparently his dad can do the gorilla (Tibro) in 20 minutes. He was incredibly fit.
Finally there was a group of women legging it up for weight loss and to fulfil new years resolutions. They got about 80% of the way and decided that was enough for them, and they'd rather not push on. Each to their own.
At the top the views were cloudy but still stunning. I pushed the kids to continue to the real summit and look at the amazing 360 degree view. So proud of how brave they are.
All up the circuit took us 90 minutes and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
TFTC - TB visit. Adding this to the list of memorable caches.

Couldn’t think of a better way to welcome the new year/decade in than with spending time in nature and with family. This climb has been on my to do list for too long! We really enjoyed the scenery along the way, especially the cave with the interesting pock marks, and the views at the summit were awesome today. Thanks so much for this earth cache Konie, it was worth every step. Ps: we didn’t see any of the butterflies listed on the info board, but we did see some beautiful orchard swallowtails
With it being earth cache weekend, we were happy to go find a couple of earthies today now that the sunshine is out. We have been keen to do this mountain climb for quite some time and today was the day.
Driving to the parking area we thought that it would be a popular mountain but holy dooley, pretty sure half of Brisbane with a few extras were here today. We found a park and started the slog just to get to the starting point where we noted the first of what we needed.
Climbing up there was no time to get exhausted or out of breath as we had to continually stop to let people come back down. The upgraded path and the scenery along the way is nothing short of spectacular. Reaching the top we were happy this was an Earth cache and not an actual tangible cache as we would have had no hope in hell of finding it with this amount of people at the summit. We marvelled at the butterflies that were up here before grabbing what else we needed. One last look at the view and we were heading back down again. Leaving a FP for bringing us here, a great Earth cache to pick up for International Earth Day. Answers have been sent to the CO.

I did the walk up this mountain this morning and did not find it too strenuous. There is a wonderful view from up at the summit. I have submitted my answers but am a bit confused about what is a “Glasshouse Mountain” and what is just a hill. I have submitted my answers and hope they are OK.
Out for a walk and stopped to gather the information for this one. Great views today. Answers sent.

Thanks for the cache!! My first EarthCache!! Woke up early to climb Mt Ngungun, and completed the cache as I went, interesting reading the history and the story that goes along with it!
But sweaty today! I'm sad winter is gone. It was quite crowded at the top, sadly, but a beautiful view though!
Climbed with friends today and enjoyed the view after gathering information. A bit windy but very nice. Thanks
After the climb on Tibrogargan in good time we thought we would have time for this one also so headed off. A lot more muggles but that does not really matter with earth caches. Great views from up top and some climbers had set up to scale the final cliff face. Around trip of 45min. TFTC.
Did this one a few weeks back and forgot to log it! Always a nice, easy walk with a gorgeous view at the top. Great place to bring people here to visit
Decided to do this hike, despite the occasional shower nearby, and it turned out to be very pleasant conditions. View was cloudy from the top, but definitely worth the effort. Geotwins especially loved climbing into the cave in the way up.
Highly recommended walk if you're in the area and willing to climb a few stairs.

On vacation from America visiting with friends, came out for a good hike with an amazing view. Thanks for the Earth Cache to go with it. Cheers from California! TFTEC
Find #2091 at about 14:30 with the family, before heading back down for some rock climbing near the base of the mountain.
Well, the climbing was the primary goal for the day, but we did also want to climb to the summit, and the presence of the Earthcache just added to the reasons to head up there.
There was only a hint of reluctance from BopsyGirl at the start of the trail, but once we got going, everyone enjoyed the hike. We stopped for lunch at the lower summit before continuing the last few metres to the top, where plenty of photos were taken.
We then headed back down and had just enough time for a couple of quick climbs at Andromeda before the threat of fading light ended our adventures. (We'll be back down there again, for sure!)
Answers emailed, and the super-efficent CO replied with his blessing before I even had a chance to write up this log!
Thanks for bringing us up here, Konie.

After living in Brisbane for 8 years we finally made it to the top of one of the Glass House Mountains. (There are different views within the team if we ever visited Wild Horse Mountain.) Although a lot of people had the same idea it was an enjoyable walk which took us less than 1.5 h incl a descent break at the summit enjoying the views and quite some climbing time for the kids at the cave near the halfway mark. Came to do the mountain climb. Doing an earthcache was a bonus giving Miss 10 a mission to compete at the same time. Spotted a few of the butterflies while sitting on top. Miss 10 says someone should put a cache in the cave that's about halfway up the track. TFTC.
This is a slightly delayed log. We picked up it was missing while checking potential targets for our next trip to Queensland.
The hill was climbed in March. Geodaughter B2 and her friend were pretty energetic on the way up and even at the top, where there is a brilliant view. Sadly not too many butterflies were seen. But exercise was had and there was no rain. Two pluses
Answers have been sent to the CO.
A few photos showing a very happy B2 are attached.
TFTEC again Konie

I’ve climbed this mountains a few times now since Swellerfungus & LadySim introduced me to it over a year ago but I just haven’t logged it until now... this hike cemented my love for hiking, THANK YOU...
Have been up the coast celebrating LadySim’s upcoming BIG birthday & thought I’d go up again on the way home...

What a better way to spend Australian day than in the great outdoors (the BBQ part comes at dinner) and today we decided to take a walk up Mt Ngungun. It's was a great walk and up top was a fantastic view of the area and all the mountains. We also took out the drone for a flight and got some awesome aerial video footage of the views too.
We love walking up ngungun its a great mountain for kids and the quick trip means that it doesn't monopolize your day. Although it was shame about the clouds today as the obscured much of the majestic views. Oh well lots of fun anyway.
Found 27 November 2017 at 3:55 pm. In 1994 I came to the Glass House Mountains for the first time and to the lookout which has had a huge facelift since we were here back then. Having been back up through this area a couple of times since 2007 on the highway we didn't take the opportunity to return to the mountains even though I really wanted to explore them further.
This trip was perfect, we have been caching now for two years and this trip to Queensland is the first one in which we can include it. My main priority was to find all the uncommon cache types, and Earth Caches as they are my favourite. What a perfect excuse to come to the *Glass House Mountains* and explore - Earth Caches.
I have been learning a lot about volcanoes and igneous rocks from some ECs near where I live and am amazed at the difference between home and Queensland. It is fantastic to find out about the *GHM's* and seeing what they are about up close and personal and comparing all this with The Hammock at Bundaberg.
I loved the trek up *Mount Ngungun* albeit challenging for this cacher, but I made it and was just in awe at the beauty before me. Mind you I was in awe at the bottom just looking up that these amazing rocks. Thank you for an awesome Earth cache. Fav point from me.

Climbed on Tuesday after work and logging today after emailing my answers. Had my trusty guide to encourage me and help conquer my vertigo! What amazing views and so worth the effort. A refreshing beverage at the GHM pub after was a lovely reward!
Just a normal bushwalk of 20 minutes .......so we was told by the man in the tourist info in the centre.
Well, so we started our walk after a heavy rain at this afternoon, with jogging shoes and a bottel of water for each of us.
It took us 30 minutes to go to the summit and I think it's a bit more like a normal bushwalk, but it was stunning and absolutely amazing to come here.

Great morning hike carrying 15kgs of smiles and silly songs. Did it with a bunch of extended family (all muggles), some from the area, some on holidays as we are. Great Walk and absolutely incredible, completely uninterrupted 360 degree view. TFTC
The last of the glass house mountain earthcaches within my power is this one.
The climb all the way to the top is great and the view is well worth it.
Thank you

On big road trip with my wife from Sydney to Mackay, viewing the Glass House Mountains on our return trip was on the "must do" list. It didn't fail to please, with breathtaking views from the top of Mount Ngungun .... a visual experience that's difficult to capture on film, so cool . Thanks, Konie, for going to the effort of creating this brilliant Earth Cache . A favourite point from me [^].
