Headed down to Whyalla New Years Eve for a little party with team Mattycat to bring in the new year before a day in the back blocks to kick off the new years 2024, starting in the conversation park we collected a couple if finds that apperaed since last visit before taking the back tracks to this one, followed quite a few tracks before we got close enough to tackle the rest by foot, a quick find at GZTFTC Maux Faux Wink

Off in the countryside caching with Jack and Purrfect Di. Met up with the froghoppin duo for a New Year cache or six... After drinking in the new year last night, the winding way to this one seemed a cinch! Surprising how many of these dirt tracks are in the google nav system Surprised [:o)] Thank you Maux Faux for the cache hide and ongoing care and maintenance Cool---------------- Wink ----------------------In a dangerous world filled with rusty old mint tins and solid lumps falling from trees - - - a cache a day keeps us agile... sort of Wink--------Caches are logged using the resources of gsak, garmin, and androids, occasionally AI too! (And a little rubber stamp Wink ) Work gets in the way - and some may take longer to log than others due to mixed technology and need for sleep! The skill and talent of some Zenior Zombies helps, and maybe a spot of luck too [:o)]----------Think Covid's over ? Well no, actually... and we don't want your flu, gastro or cold germs either - so practise safe caching please! Ensure Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on Wink Clean as you go and cache the countryside Big GrinBig thanks to those placing quality caches out and about around our country areas, in nice safe places and containers especially! - it keeps our game fun for all CoolOf course we do appreciate if you actually did read all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, or so we've been told! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Wink Maybe if I worked out where it is I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and perhaps we can put an end to these long logs !!! Maybe not though - as someone actually did read to the end and alerted me to just a project GC badge that requires long logs [:o)] Well at least it's not as bad as finding a mint tin! C'est fini... For now... ... until tomorrow! Travelling with richlink from Perth to Darwin up along the west coast and home again through the centre and the Nullarbor. We are on the home stretch now, and after a few days on the Yorke, we are at Whyalla before pick-up a few caches. The boys took on the 4WD tracks of Whyalla while the girls headed off to Lucky. We stopped here to claim our smile. TFTC.

23-Aug-23
Travelling with iluvtrekking up the WA coast to Darwin, down the Centre and in the Flinders. After spending some time in Peterbough and Minlaton we moved to Moonta to grab finds in Moonta and surrounds. We didn’t feel like paying the ferryman $450 each to bring our caravans over from Wallaroo so opted to drive to Whyalla. While Mrs ILT and I drove to Lucky Bay to pick up a final, our Geo-men knocked off some of the 4wd caches in Whyalla. A beautiful winters day to be out enjoying this part of the world. Thanks for the hide

Or old ladies either, but I found it anyhow.
Container does have a crack in the bottom but contents all good at the moment.
Thanks

Found after having driven around and past this spot for many years. Decided it was time to trek in. TFTC

The Non Wangaratta Event Tour 2021! Razz
Covid has postponed the Mega in Victoria until January but leave had been granted for AnyMules to attend with me and Bushfire. So Anymules and I went on a tour to Eyre Peninsular and mid north South Australia instead whilst Bushfire joined us in spirit only as covid meant he couldn't come here either. Big Grin Not needing anything for my yearly goals I hoped I didn't add too many to the DNFs [B)]Cool

Day 3: Exploring around the outskirts of Whyalla. Cool
We chose the 4WD option and that took us to within about 100 metres of GZ. [^] Then it was time to mount Shank's Pony for the rest of the journey to GZ where a quick find was made. Smile Anyway who you calling OLD. My adult children do that! [xx(] Love grabbing caches in these out of the way places. Wink

Only one of the three goals from last year achieved. Twisted So once again trying and fill my calendar with multi-caches and complete loop 11 again this year. [^] For my third goal I will try and get my DNF numbers from over fifty to single digits. Cool That should keep me busy again this year! [:o)]

***Thanks CMB-A TEAM for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Big Grin

Always good to find an original old log book.

This one was country for -us- old men.

Now you’ve made us grumpy.

Thanks for the cache Maux Faux.

Found It!
I ended up walking about 150m to this one and then quickly found the cache once I got to GZ. There really is a lot of nothing out here!

16-May-20
Nice one! Love walking out here...ahhh the serenity!

31-May-19
Found at 1:47 PM GAFF1.
Another nice adventure to have to go on a bit of a hike! We managed to get pretty close in the 4wd - about 95 metres and then a find.
Don't think we have seen the film - doesn't ring a bell in any case.
Thanks Maux Faux

Found at 7:00am. Went for a very early morning MTB ride. I love this time of morning in the bush. So crisp and quiet. The most direct route from home for me was over Mt Laura saddle, so that's where I went. Actually took less time than I thought. Past logs said the book was wet and container very brittle. Well after yesterday's 39°C, it was all dry. I prised the pages apart to sign. I've replaced the container and removed all the broken and no good swaps and put a couple back in, with the original logbook. Should last a bit longer now.
BTW - should have worn long pants or gaiters!

Mexicans !! [:o]
Don't forget we are at the 137th parallel [:o]
A long, long way away from the 141st and the Rio Grande Smile
So any of them Mexicans who have made it this far must be feeling a bit dehydrated and hot !!

I didn't spot any of the varmints on my stroll through the scenery today, 'Bear Grylls' style Wink
(Rest assured I didn't have to drink me own pee on this adventure) Razz
I have never heard of Josh Brolin [:o]

So this was a nice easy find in some wonderfully scenic countryside Smile
Reminds me of the scenery around Broken Hill ... if anything [^]

TFTC and wander through the scrub.

As for the cache, well .... it needs a bit of maintenance Sad
The logbook was a sodden, smelly mess, and the container has seen better days.

18-Aug-13
I dont DO walking and dont own a 4WD, but this time I had to do the 500m walk from the nearest 2WD track to help Kev get his August totals up. I grumbled and muttered all the way there and back...

18-Aug-13
In all the time Ive been caching I'd never been here, Tempo pointed out here from the top of Mt Laura one time and muttered about there being a cache way out that way... but I never made it here until today. The cache is wet and really needs a new container as the lid is cracked and the clips missing.

Dis old man made it.A lovely stroll in the bush about 250 mtr's from me 4x4Smile

Coordinates good, cache nice and dry. Clips a bit broken on the lid
Being the 'wrong-side of 50' I wasn't sure if this was the cache for ME, but all good!

I didnt think I was gonna do this one and found the container in a bad codition too
The sun has played its part and whittles the plastic away
Tried out best to gey it covered again in the fading light

Will admit - a real badland this one, went all 4 wheel to get this one, great fun it was too

No country for camels, 4WD's or bikes. Next time I'm bringing the Sherman Tank... TFTC
The box is broken and needs replacement as it's no longer water tight.

07-Mar-10
Attempted to find this one a couple of weeks earlier but got lost in the maze of tracks that is the back of Mt. Laura and ran out of time. This time we found it pretty quickly and were on our way to the next one.

Cheers!

Finally giving the Outlander a workout for it's money. Don't think I would have made it in the Commodore wagon. The short walk was mad all the easier by a previous cacher who drove to GZ. Geokids appreciated that as they are a bit woosy when it comes to trekking through scrubbery. Nice spot to visit, but glad I don't need to come back to it again.
T - highlighter & colour pencils

It’s good to have at last got around to shooting down this cache which has been on my local radar for far too long!
It was a pleasant morning for the hike except for the inevitable posse of flies shadowing my every move.
The stash was duly unearthed and the trade done: out – pliers, in – fish hooks, lizard pendant and screwdriver.
Also left TB bluegillfisherman to keep the fish hooks company. (pic)
