Almost gave up on this one, but then it turned up. Woohoo!!

After a few months of planning, and trial runs I finally attempted and complete my goal of doing a 24 hour SOLO cache run!!!

One Man, One Day, 441 caches found!

I booked two nights at Murray bridge and arrived at 8:00 pm. Attempted without success to sleep until 11:30 pm then got up and went to the location of the first cache. As the clock turned to midnight I began.

Speed through the Oz Mega 2014 Trail with only a handful of DNFs, then picked a few up along the highway until I got to the GeoPets trail.

After this I cut through to Wandering Heroes and completed up to the "OTS: May" trail. Went along this and came back into Tailem Bend for lunch and fuel and few in town. Was beginning to get weary but proceeded back to where I left off in the Wandering Heroes.

From here on in I just completed as many of these as I could up through Karoonda in the hot hot mid 30's day until midnight stuck a few kms east of town.

441 finds was the total count and now I just had to drive back to Murray Bridge. Easier said then done after being awake for practically 40 hours. Hit the hotel pillow at 1:20 am and was out within seconds.

Thanks for all the wonderful caches around this area, and sorry for generic logs.

On a WH mission today to try to get to 100 caches for the day. Stupidly I forgot sunscreen so was getting scorched along the journey. Drank about 5 litres of water and found 103 caches. If I'd had a co-driver could have found alot more but alas not he was harvesting. Enjoyed listening to the cds I got for Christmas on the 5 hour return trip to get to/from Tailem Bend from Naracoorte. TFTC and apologies for the generic logs.
Enjoyed this one, clever hide.

Found at 2:14 PM GAFF1.
This was not as easy as the Difficulty rating suggested! There were heaps of possible locations and there were rocks - oooh there were rocks all over the place [B)] What's more is that the GPSr kept going from one pile to the other - so where do you look!
Eventually the master finder came out and she just pointed to the location - there it is and she was right Red Face
Thanks GeoLachlan93.

One of a few found today while out on a Wandering Heroes mission.
Great series, thanks CP, love reading about the teams honoured when doing the logging.
Thanks for this contribution from GeoLachlan93

Found while out for the day with Uni on a Wandering Hero's assault 'It's not about the numbers is about the milestones'.
We had a great day finding many many great caches, I apologize about the generic logs however for efficiency this is the quickest way to do it for me when I'm time poor. I would like to aknowlege all the great work and innovation put into many of the hides along this route.

Thank you to all cache placers,
Cheers and Happy Hunting

A nice find by dad while we were out tackling the WH power trail Smile

Out for yet another weekend of hanging out and caching with Sylken. The plan for this weekend was to take another crack at the Wandering Heroes power trail (when we made our first attempt in January 2012 we foolishly thought we might tackle the whole thing in one day!! Lol! The series was only abut 160 at that time...) When the temp is 35C, that seems rather unrealistic... It was 35C the first time we attempted this series, and 35C again today... it seems that we're starting to make a habit of hot caching expeditions. But now the powertrail has upwards of 300 in it, I think anyone would be hard pressed to bag that many in one day!

We still didn't manage to complete the trail, so we'll just have to see if we can find another 35C day to get the rest... Wink

Thanks you to all the cache owners for their recognition of fellow cachers, and their efforts in hiding and maintaining the series. An honourable mention to CPWanderer who started this whole lark off in the first place Big Grin

04-Oct-14
We are currently staying in Murray Bridge for a few weeks attempting some of the many caches available in the area. Geodaughter KAROPI joined us here for a second run at the Wandering Heroes series....our first was in January 2012. The series has expanded somewhat since then so we had endless opportunitiesRazz

We finished the day with 114 finds and not a single DNFBig Grin. Some caches are particularly inventive and a great tribute to the teams they are honouring. It is so nice to do a big power trail and have various types of hides....I guess the benefit of having lots of different CO'sBig Grin

As usual with power trails we too are writing a generic log, just adding a few extra words to caches that needed extra comments. That however doesn't detract from the gratitude we feel for all the CO's that have hidden caches along this trail....thank you one and all.

We couldn't sail past Wynarka without stopping for this one. Geohubby had it in his hands within seconds...gotta be lucky sometimesBig Grin

Thanks for the hide GeoLachlan93[^][^][^]

Out on this beautiful day to continue our quest to complete this great series of geocaches. Found and signed as Pem kids who consist of Braveheart17, Lozanger and Puppytail6. Left a PEG if convenient which equates to Pembroke Elite Geocachers!! Thanks to all those who make the effort to put these geos out here. Much appreciated.

Travelling today from Berri towards Murray Bridge. Decision made to leave the house on wheels and the cat at Karoonda then backtrack to collect some caches with comparative ease. [^]

The weather was turned on at a magical 25degrees and sunny. We saw lots of rabbits and goannas out enjoying the sun too.

We did not realise that the Mindarie-Halidon Races were on or what a big thing they in fact are. Wow so many horse floats, cars and motor bikes heading to the one spot! Razz

Great day caching and visiting some great caches and some truly historic and informative locations. We also managed to knock over a few more of the Wandering Heroes caches too. Wink

Shame the Caravan park at Karoonda is closed until November at the earliest so be forewarned if you are thinking of heading this way in the next few months. Twisted

This took ages. As usual we were about to give up when quitters luck came through and the cache was located. Woot.

What a week this has been at the Oz Mega Event in Murray Bridge SA. I have so many caches to log so it will have to be a cut and paste log because of the numbers but this does not mean that that I don't appreciate the effort that all the cache owners have put in to hide these caches because without the hiders we would not have the pleasure of finding the vast number of caches that have been placed in this area and also the owners of caches along the roads that we have to travel to arrive in M.B and return back to our homes.
I left Geelong on Wednesday 16th April 2014 and arrived home a week later with close to 500 caches found and now the mammoth task of logging all of these caches.
Thanks to all the cache owners who placed caches for everybody to find.
Early Monday 21st April I ventured out to this group with fellow cacher Happy Feet 1 (Robin and Josh) signing the logs as B & HF1 and finding all along the way until we decided to return to Murray Bridge with our aim today was to log at least 150.
This is not the order we found these but for ease of logging I will log in order.

Suscoe headed out this afternoon after relocating to Karoonda for a bit of caching fun in the company of Phetlern.
Logs were signed in a combination of ways with Suscoe, Phetlern where we had overlapped on previous visits and S and P where we were both logging for the first time.
Another delightful day even if it was a little windy.
This cache was one of 61 finds for the afternoon.
Thanks to GeoLachlan93 for placing this cache.

Day 4 of the Oz Mega Event, and I was heading for an overnight stay in Bordertown. The day included a few caches around Murray Bridge, the Lost Wanderers series, and some of the Wandering Heroes caches that had arisen since I last cleaned it out. And then there were some more down to Coonalpyn. Sorry for the generic logs - there were just too many to log individually.

I actually tried for this one last time I was out this way - about a year and a half ago - but failed miserably. Today it was in about the second place I looked. My thanks to GeoLachlan93 for the cache.

Cached today with Team Tonka , Grub Fred and Backwards Charlie. Met many cachers along the way. The OZ Mega Flags were everywhere, what a great idea. Everyone waved to us or blew their horns, had a great time. Fun caches too!!! TFTC

I flew into Melbourne and rented a car to come to Oz Mega. This is my first geocaching trip to Australia and I am enjoying it so far. Of course I searched for and found a few caches between Melbourne and Murray Bridge.

After registering for Oz Mega I am doing some caching as part of Team Z (Grub Fred, JMCz, Team Tonka, and myself). Thursday we concentrated on the Oz Mega 2014 SA series and found almost two hundred (200) caches. Friday we concentrated on the Oz Mega 2014 Signal series and found almost one hundred (100) caches. Today we spent most of our time working on the Wandering Heroes series and found about two hundred (200) caches.

Thanks to all the volunteers for all the work in putting together the mega event and these series. If it were not for hiders, there would be no finders.

19-Apr-14
Found this one on our day out from the Oz Mega as we attempted the Wandering Heroes trail. logging this one as Team Z (Grub Fred, JMCz, Backwards Charlie, and myself) this one one of the many great Caches we found along the way Thanks for the great effort put into creating and maintaining these caches over this very busy period.
Sorry for the Generic Log but with 200+ caches to log today the mind is very Numb.
Happy Caching.

From Auckland via Sydney I arrived at Adelaide around 10pm on the 17th to be picked up by funkymunkyzone, slieschke and Cats&Dragons (thx!). The plan was a 24h geocaching run which included picking up as many caches possible involving the three trails of Oz Mega, Wandering Heroes and Tour de France. We made it just in time back to Murray Bridge to meet up with vistra and yorkshirekiwi83 at GZ of our first cache. With the whole Team "NZ Fun" assembled the run started exactly at midnight.
In total we managed 727 finds and 11 DNFs in 24 hours. Wow what a great team effort!! TFTC

I am over from New Zealand for Oz Mega 2014 and today joined forces with fellow kiwis Yorkshirekiwi83, Cats&Dragons, Funkymunkyzone, Slieschke and Alpenmilch80 for a 24 hour non stop caching run! The log books were signed under the team name of "NZ Fun"

We started near Murray Bridge and worked our way around the Oz Mega 2014 Signal trail, then on to the OZ Mega 2014 SA trail. Once those trails were finished, we headed over to Tailem Bend and worked through the Wandering Heroes series up to Loxton. From here we made our way across to the Tour De France power trail. Whilst the power trails were our main focus, we also picked up a few other caches along the way. At the end of the 24 hours we finished with 727 cache finds!!! It was an exhausting 24 hours and we still had to drive back to Murray Bridge afterwards! Sorry for the generic logs, but a big thank you to the cache owners for all of the cache placements!

Found as part of a 24hour cache run Twisted with 5 other kiwi's while at the OZMEGA2014 Murray Bridge (Alpenmilch80, Slieschke, funkymunkyzone, vistra & Yorkshirekiwi83, ) on Friday 18th April. All logs were signed as "NZ Fun"

We had a great time and throughly enjoyed the challenge that this presented to us all, thank you to the cache owners for being able to create such a range of caches for us to complete.

We started our run at Signal, through to OZ MEGA 2014, The Wandering Hero's, Tour de France with many other caches along the way. For all that we managed we only had 11 DNF's in the whole trip which for the numbers was pretty amazing in its own right.

So again thank you for the NZ FUN Cool

18-Apr-14
Found with alpenmilch80, Cats&Dragons, funkymunkyzone, vistra and yorkshirekiwi83 on an epic 24 hour cache run of the Oz Mega trails, Wandering Heroes, Tour de France and a bunch of caches between these. Signed as NZ Fun (and also some instances of Fun NZ as the day continued on)! A total of 727 caches were found on this run! Smile

Thanks to all the COs for their placements!

18-Apr-14
Sitting in a pub in Auckland before the SA MEGA we decided it would be a really fun idea to try and see how many caches we could find within 24hours. So it was decided, team NZ Fun was born (myself, Alpenmilch80, Cats and Dragons, slieschke, funkymonkeyzone and vistra). We met at the dedicated starting point just before midnight and we were ready to go on the stroke of 12, we completed Signal, OZ Mega trails, Wandering Heros and the Tour de France with many others in between.

Thank you to the many cache owners who put time and effort into placing and maintaining these trails, we really appreciate it, we managed 727 caches within our 24hours, which was exhillerating, exhausting and loads of fun. Apologies for the generic log.

18-Apr-14
Team "NZ Fun" - funkymunkyzone, slieschke, alpenmilch80, vistra, yorkshirekiwi83 and Cats&Dragons - found this on our rather loosely planned 24 hours of cache finding record run, from midnight to midnight on the 18th of April 2014. We started with the Signal geo-art trail, headed up through the other Oz Mega 2014 trails, the Wandering Heroes series and then across to the Tour de France trail for a total of 727 finds and 11 DNFs for the day. Apologies for the copy/paste logs, but with so many caches found in a single day it was impossible to remember specific caches, but that's not to say there weren't memorable caches along the way - there were indeed some great caches, particularly along the Wandering Heroes series. Special thanks to the cache hiders: OzFiresafe, Team Hurtle, and their helpers, for the Oz Mega 2014 trails; le equipe de cinq pour la piste "Tour de France"; and all the hiders of the Wandering Heroes caches and other caches along the way that we found along the way. We started at midnight on the Signal trail and ended at midnight after a few random caches in Eudunda before making the long drive back to Murray Bridge for some well earned sleep - for some of us, the first sleep for more than 45 hours. We stopped at every cache and it was a fun day but very tiring, and I don't think I'd do it again for a very long time (I'll stop short of saying never though, like organising another mega - ha!) TFTC!!! Big Grin

Find 413 of 727 for the day.

Left about lubch time with Gonefishen07, KTCVic and Zobo04 to find the caches on the wandering heroes and other bearby caches that they have not found. As we have not done this series we tagged along for the ride. There were some very well themed caches among these and a few favourites have been added.
Thanks to GeoLachlan93 for this cache

Traveled down to South Australia from Townsville, North Queensland, with MattCNS to attend the 2014 Oz Mega Event being held at Murray Bridge.

Day 3 of our S.A. geocaching holiday focuses on the Wandering Heroes power trail between Tailem Bend and Karoonda. we started at 8am and continued non-stop until we finished at 6pm. All up 200 finds and 0 DNF's.

While not part of the Wandering Heroes power trail, we still took the opportunity to grab this cache along the way,

Day 3 of RobS72 and my caching binge in SA for the 2014 Mega Event. This was cache #130 out of 200 for the day. Today was the day we decided to tackle the Wandering Heroes trail. We grab this cache while on the WH trail. I'm guessing this is close to where the station used to be. TFTC. Smile

14-Apr-14
On our way to the OZ Mega event in Murray Bridge we decided to attempt a 24 hour challenge and see how many caches we could find, our final count from midnight to midnight on the 13th of April 2014 was 247 caches (not too bad for a couple of grandparents).
After a bit of sleep in the car, we completed the wandering heroes trail the next day, and continued on to the 2014 mega caches .
We discovered that all the preparation we put into this helped make the challenge go smoothly...
plenty of maps, batteries, lights etc. Our only pitfalls were lack of sleep and a lack of loo's along the way Smile
After logging in the many caches we noticed that sadly we missed a few, so we will be back.. DOH

Many thanks to all the cache owners for their creative endeavour to make this trail of honour to fellow cachers.

Sorry for the generic log.... over 600 logs to do.

#1827 - 13:03; Day three of Sol de lune and LuckyL10n's great big SA Road trip. An early start was in order as we planned to have a big day out on the road between Loxton and Tailem Bend. Our goal for the day was to pick up as many of the WHS along that route as we could. We had cracked the 100 finds for the day barrier and we stopped to pick this one up on the way through as an added bonus. TFTC GeoLachlan93 Smile

[:(!] Came over from Perth to visit our geoson (RevolutioSolutio) and his family for a couple of weeks over the festive season. We have camped for the last three days at Avoca Dell Caravan Park at Murray Bridge and on our last day the geoson and I did a good part of the Tailem Bend to Loxton Power Trail while the geowives went back to Adelaide with the two geograndsons in tow, we parked the geocar as close as possible to GZ and we walked in from there as this was one of them, on arrival at GZ the cache was in hand in a matter of minutes.

Out for a caching day with Dr Owl on part of the Wandering Heroes series.

Having finished the wandering heores for the moment we decided to get some lunch, but saw this one, 'just over there', so thought why not.

It was a short walk from the road, and the longest search for a cache all day. Loved it. A hint, elbow does not need to touch the earth.

Cheers

Out with Knightyme for the day, finding and placing caches.

Owl was looking forward to a change in the red containers that have replaced this stretch of the Wandering Heroes series, but wasn’t expecting this one to be so hard to find. Owl was reluctant to put her hand in too many holes, so used various implements to search. She was ready to throw in the towel, but decided to have a quick search of an area they hadn’t touched yet – and there it was

We headed out to South Australia for a few days Geocaching and really lucked out on the weather.
We got beautiful 30 degree days which made for some great cache finding days.
The planning we had done before hand was worth it as we managed to find all the cache series we targeted and can now look foward to some leisurely caching at the Mega Event next year.
A big thank you to all the cache owners for the wonderful geocache hides and each and every one added to the wonderful experience we had on the trip.

We started the Wondering Heroes Trail at the Tailem Bend at the Honour Roll, with a 3 car convoy.
Heading the starting blocks with the McKee Clan & spy kids,
Not far behind the wheel of Harry with Locus cache, Burtons & me &
In the middle of the chaos was the Gismos Gang.
Starting seeing some sleepies crossing the road, Marty decided to grab one that was almost trodden on and entertain the kids.
Fun & games were to be had on this slightly humid day,
Decided to detour slightly from the WHPT as it was close and something different.
The kids went off the check out the mystery bus.

Found during another invasion of South Australia with The Rats, Steeba, Big Matt and Shell (collectively known as The Gangsters).

It was 2009 when we were last together as a group in South Australia to set a 24 hour record but with the advent of power trails the game has certainly changed! This time, we weren't here to break any records but to enjoy picking up some good numbers over the variety of the trails that seem to be popping up everywhere in South Australia.

A quick find whilst passing through town.

Thanks GeoLachlan93 for the cache.

Heading over to South Oz with steeba, Farmer Frentzen and Big Matt, it was great to have the gangsters back together for another SA invasion, last time we were here was 2009.

We found this cache as part of the many series/trails we found over our 4-day spree. Our trip has created many milestones, none better than our own new one-day record and a new monthly tally.

I apologise for the duplicate log, by no means does it detract from the enjoyment of finding this cache. Thanks to contributing to the gangsters invasion.

We'd have been able to park closer if we'd had the 4WD but we were out and about in our more economical (but much lower-clearance) version of transport today. Nice interesting place for a cache and a good little diversion after doing some of the other trails in the area. A favourite from us cos it was something different. TFTC

Having finished off the OZ Mega and Signal series, we decided to find the Wandering Heroes series. Some great caches found, and some familiar names spotted along the way. Plenty of favourite points dished out, and we certainly had a great day on the trail today. A lot of effort has gone into each of these cache, and a great way to pay tribute to so many people that make this sport such a community. This cache was a nice detour from the main track, certainly worth the small detour Smile

5 cachers - 5 days - 4 power trails - 301 caches in one day - 630 caches in total

An extended five day weekend saw KTCvic, Bounty Trackers, Gonefishen07, and Zobo04 heading over to Murray Bridge, South Australia, for weekend of power trail caching punctuated by the odd individual cache. Our main goal was to complete the Wandering Heroes, Lost Wanderers, OZ Mega 2014 SA, and OZ Mega Signal trails which we achieved over three days of intensive caching.

Saturday morning we were back on the trail to find the remaining Wandering Heroes. We made an early start, driving out to pick up where we left off yesterday.

We soon got into a rhythm of driving, stopping, jumping out, signing logs, jumping back in, driving, stopping, jumping out... you get the picture. Competition to find the hides was high between individual cachers, with “eagle eyes” Zobo04 blitzing the field. It took us most of Friday and Saturday to complete both the Wandering Heroes and Lost Wanderers trails. In addition to our finds, Gonefishen07 also placed seven new caches on the trail, of which we were honoured to have one of them named after us. Even though it is a power trail of sorts, with so many cache owners contributing to the trail, it provided variety and the effort gone into making hides a fitting tribute to individual cachers was not lost on us.

Thank you to all the cache owners for placing and maintaining their caches. Katy and Trent also want to thank Ash, Leesa and Zoe for such a great trip. It was filled with plenty of laughs, lots of ribbing, numerous war wounds, and great company!!!

Away on a five day caching trip to South Australia with KTCvic, Gonefishen07 & Zobo04 to do the Wandering Heroes Series, The Lost Wanderers series, Oz Mega 2014 SA, Oz Mega 2014 Signal and whatever we could find along the journey.

Finding a total of 630 caches during our trip. Also finding 301 finds in a day (not much sleep was gotten on this day) and lots of laughs, and fun on an adventure with great friends.

This was the second day on the trail we started at 7am on the Wandering heroes series and just kept on going until we gave finished. We found 140 caches in this stint, with many good caches along they way.

Thanks GeoLachlan93 for the cache

This was our 15th cache find in the caching run & we found it at 13:26
So this now makes our total find count 6605.

The "Wandering Heroes" series has been on our todo list for quite some time. As we are slowly meandering our way across to the Fleurieu Peninsula to attend an event there, we now have an ideal opportunity to do the caches in the series. We anticipate that it will take quite a few days, especially as we are not in any hurry.

Although this one is not part of the series, we would have been crazy to just drive on by.

After finding over 6605 caches, it is really sad to note that the trend of placing small caches (without swaps) is increasing, especially where a larger container could have been placed. While some nanos have their place, eclipse tins and 200ml Sistemas seem to be the norm these days, especially where a larger container could have been placed. Doesn't anyone want to place large, kid friendly caches any more. [?] Sad
[/blue]
Cache Condition: Container and log book are in good shape.
Thanks GeoLachlan93 for the hunt today.

#4184 Found whilst doing a SA caching run and in the midst of completing the Wandering Heroes series. By the time we arrived at GZ it was nearly 3am - we don't know whether we were tired or whether our GPSr's were playing funny buggars but it took quite a bit to locate this cache. But find it we did Big Grin. Our thanks to GeoLachlan93 for placing a cache here. Cheers [^]

Found as part of the record run to SA by The Demolition Crew (TDC). While, I am not a member of the TDC, I was fortunate enough to be caching with Blacklegend, Quasar3671, Trailrunning and Rebel Acts on what was for me, a huge adventure.

As I live with Blacklegend, it was fantastic when he said "Do you want to come to South Australia on a huge caching trip". I jumped at the chance, as I'd never been to S.A. or Adelaide, and it was a fantastic feeling to know I was going to be part of something big, and I was.

To be part of the Australian 24 hour record, at such an early stage in my caching career, so to speak, and part of so many other finds, was experience building beyond anything I could have hoped for.

****************

Tuesday was the day of our record run from midnight to midnight. We rested before the start and got a few hours sleep. Once we started, it was a blur of caching, we did the Oz Mega, Oz Mega Signal, Wandering Heroes and TDF series along the way. Caches were being found so quickly, it was amazing. The time went very fast, and at the end, even the several cans of energy drink did nothing to hold off some tiredness. I got through, and was proud to have been part of this incredible day.

****************

Due to the extremely high number of finds for the trip, and on Blacklegend's advice and with his assistance, I have also gone with the generic logs. As the others have stated, it in no way takes away from the fantastic and enjoyable hides we found on the trip. As Blacklegend and the other have said, my sincere thanks to all cache owners who placed and maintain their caches, and made this trip possible for our group. TFTC, memories and the experience.

This cache was found during The Demolition Crew with Ponty95 24 hour and 1000 caches in 48 hours record breaking challenge caching run in South Australia.

I've been on quite a few caching road trips during my time as a cacher and this one was one of the best. The idea was to see how many caches we could find in 24 hours, with the goals being to break the Australian 24 hour caching record, and then continue on the next day to see if we could eventually find a total of 1000 caches or more in the 48 hours. Needless to say we did manage to fulfill both goals.

Not only does SA have some lovely contryside and Adelaide itself is famous for its churches, SA is also known for its numerous, extensive and well laid out cache 'powertrails'. The OZ Mega, OZ Signal and the Wandering Heros series of caches in particular are the largest and just a few of the many that can be tackled. With this is mind, TDC started planning the 24 hour challenge caching run back in late 2012, and over a period of many, many months we laid out careful plans on how we were going to break the Australian 24 hour caching record, as well as find as many caches as possible while on the road.

The intricate attention to detail proved to be esssential to us completing our goals. With routes planned, essential supplies loaded (especially museli bars, water and energy drinks) and every cache detail documented, we headed off on the 6th to begin our journey. By the end we had accomplished what we had set out to do, smashing the 24 hour record and finding over 1000 caches in the 48 hours. We had an absolute ball and needless to say were knackered by the end but the final result was worth every hours lack of sleep.

Apart from finding many 'stand alone' caches we did manage to complete the OZ Mega, Oz Signal, Wandering Heros, TDF, APM and PSA series, the 40, 50 and 60 series of caches as well as a number of Adelaide puzzle caches and a few Melbourne - Adelaide multi caches.

Due to the number of cache finds and the resulting number of logs to write, I am reluctantly using a generic log to log each cache. The same goes for my fellow TDC cachers and Ponty95, full appreciation goes out to each of the CO's who placed caches that we found, and without your caches our fantastic caching experience would not have come to fruition.

Thanks, Quasar3671.

Found as part of the Demolition Crew record run to South Australia with fellow TDC members Quasar3671, Trailrunning, Rebel Acts and a guest on the trip, Poynts95.

The trip was a fair while in the making, and many aspects had to align to make it happen, including all of us getting the time to go. However, the "stars aligned" so to speak for us, and the trip was on. A date was set and much planning engaged, and when I say much, I mean a very large amount. We had an old saying where I used to work, and that was "Failing to be prepared, is being prepared to fail", so, we prepared, and prepared and prepared.

With a challenge set, being, could The Demolition Crew find over 500 caches in 24 hours, we headed forth to South Australia, the magical land of power trails, and over the duration of the trip, found in excess of 1250 caches, and indeed, easily beat the goal on our record day. Importantly too, we had a great time together.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday was the day of our record attempt, a crack at the 24 hour Australian record. Starting at midnight and finishing at midnight, it was an awesome run. Some rest and sleep was had before the run, and many, many cans of energy drinks (harden up) was consumed during the 24 hours. We picked up the Oz Mega, Oz Mega Signal, Wandering Heroes and TDF series along the way. Caches were found and logged at an immense speed, and in hindsight, the greatest single day of caching I have ever had. It was hard, hard work, but a lot of fun. Humor and our goal kept our spirits up during a mammoth 24 hours.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Due to the extremely high number of finds for the trip, I am opting for a generic log, which I never normally do, but as the others have stated, it in no way detracts from the high quality of hides we found on the trip. My sincere thanks to all cache owners who placed and maintain their caches, and made this trip possible for our group. You have all been part of the best caching road trip we have yet made. TFTC and the memories.

When the Wandering Series was first published it had been on the agenda of The Demolition Crew, however we were not able to arrange a time when all of us could go over. Fortuitously as time went by, more trails were published. Upon looking more closely at South Australia recently, there were many more power trails than we realised, and a plan was hatched to go over and grab as many caches as we could. We were all finally able to arrange a mutual time during the Easter school holidays, so the planning stages began.

Given the limited amount of time available to us, and so many caches to grab, we realised that a huge effort was going to be needed to grab them all. Rebel Acts being known for his record breaking 24 hour runs suggested that we try a 24 hour run of our own. Now there was a thought, a challenge in fact we readily accepted. A bit more planning (a lot more actually) and a route was chosen and run sheets drawn up.

With all the puzzles solved, and most of the multi's these caches were reduced to traditionals for the run day. With cars packed, stamps made, and spirits high we made our way to South Australia to find some plastic.

Tuesday was our attempt at a 24 cache run which naturally started at midnight and finished at midnight. It was a great run with Oz Mega, Oz Mega Signal, Wandering Heroes and TdF cache series being picked up. At one stage caches were being logged so fast it was all a blur. Naturally a few cans of toughen up were consumed many laughs had.

While I am using a generic log, it does not detract my appreciation of all the CO's who have put the time into placing and maintaining these caches. To each and every one of you, I thank you for being part of what has been the best cache road trip yet. Thank you!

Go TDC.

The cache was found as part of A massive cache run to South Australia with TDC Members Trailrunning, Quasar3671 and Blacklegend and a ring in Ponty95. It had taken us time to get this all together, finally a date was set and planning was started, I learnt one thing from my late mate dak's Emu Mob AKA Dave Kruger "Proper Planning prevents piss Poor Performance" he always said. Trailrunning was our master planner on this trip. I did this as part of a team but I also did it as a tribute to dak. having set the Australian Record twice before the question was, does the Rebel still have what it takes, I think the answer for that was yes. The challenge had been set down on FB "could the TDC find over 500 in a day, well we took up the challenge and headed to the power trail capital of Australia.

This cache was found by Team PacketStorm and Team Indiana08 whilst completing their designated mission to SA. The teams set out together on the 01/02/13 to 09/02/13 to gain as many smiley's as they could in a short amount of time. Both teams logs will be exactly the same but I can assure you much fun was had by all.

Thank you to all cache owners who have placed and maintained these caches.

Day 4, 04/02/13, It was a very late start to the day today after yesterdays massive feat! Our aim today was to finish the rest of the 'Wandering Heroes' . We got back to where we stopped last night in Karoonda at around 1pm. We finished the rest of the series and set up camp in Loxton. We ended with 74 caches for the day.

29/12/12 1:18 PM Find #2405
We started caching in Oct 2005, and at 1/1/12 we sat on 1218 total caches.
In Dec 12, we are around 1,000 caches for the year......... So a plan is hatched to do the same amount of caches in 2012 as the TOTAL of ALL PREVIOUS YEARS!!
Hmmmmm, where can we get 200 caches in one weekend??? (talk about cutting it fine, on the last weekend of the year!)
The Wandering Heroes of course, so we've kidnapped ST37E and S_4_Sammy, & are on a quest of 201 caches in 48 hrs .....

Thanks for the cache- Highrod from Ballarat.
