We checked this area out over Christmas and it is still closed to the public, so we cannot replace it at this stage.

12-Dec-20
We will be checking this cache out over the Christmas Break to see if the area is open again.
Stay Tuned

05-Oct-20
Tried to replace this cache today, but the area is still closed off after the bushfires. It looks as though there are building some nice new amenities here too, so it should be lovely when re opened

16-Aug-20
Will be in the area next weekend to replace this cache and get it activated

05-Jul-20
Our current plan is to reactivate this cache in around 4 weeks from now, as we are now allowed to travel more freely, and we can now also start to sort out the issues with our burnt property in Batlow.

Our apologies for the delay.

Cheers

Thanks for your patience with this cache tiddalik - it has suffered a double whammy, with the bushfires in the area in January & now the COVID-19 travel restrictions. As you have stated, as soon as it is safe for us to get to the cache we will do so & work out the best plan of attack from there.

Cheers,
Usat31

09-Mar-20
At this stage, the area is still not accessible due to the damage due to the bush fires. We will continue to monitor the situation & provide updates until such time that the cache can be reinstated.

Thanks for your patience.

In addition to only remnants of the cache being found by the last person, this one is also in an area that you can’t get in to.

11-Feb-20
Did not survive. Found little metal & glass marble pieces -all that’s left I’m afraid. See photo

07-Jan-20
Due to the fires that have recently torn through the area, we are disabling this cache until we can get into the area to see if it still exists.

We will do this as soon as practical, as it is still unsafe to enter the area.

Cheers,
Uast31

Completed this cache with [@AngusnmumyAdventures](http://coord.info/PRRD6GG) .

A quick easy find on a nice in a picnic area, and no we were not to short for this one. We have stayed in the area before at Laurel Hill lodge some years ago, it has been a while, It was much colder then though.
It was a nice day to be out today.

We found it, we stamped it, we replaced it, now we have logged.

Thanks heaps Usat31 for this cache, Lil Donna

Tumut invasion trip May 2019. A local Canberra group decided to head up to Tumut for a weekend of caching and meeting and greeting. Several groups were out and about over the weekend and we all had a great time despite a bit of wetness and a bit of cold, which was to be expected. The first day was a long day traveling around Blowering Dam and Batlow with Smitten Granny. The Dam area was an amazing place to explore, but it was a pity so many caches seem to be missing. A short walk across the park took us to this one where there was a quick find for once.

Thanks.

This is the beginning of our Tumut Invasion with teams coming from Canberra and Goulburn. I teamed up with Albida for a run into possible 4WD territory to give friendly but often impatient muggle Pa, the day off. Our aim was to pick up as many caches as possible that were unloved down on the western shores of the Blowering Dam as well as some on the way to and from that area.
It was a very interesting day with challenges that included masses of blackberries; washed out tracks; muddy slippery tracks; trees across the tracks; water in containers; soggy logs and missing caches. On the positive side, we did find and sign some unloved caches; we saw absolutely gorgeous autumn colours; we had a ball slipping and sliding; we came out alive; we saw masses of yellow tailed black cockatoos; we discovered some great camping areas and the views were stunning.
A huge thanks to Albida for his company, good humour and great driving.

This cache was one that we did manage to find, so I signed the log and returned the cache to its hidey hole. TNLN

A nice area to park and let the heohound run. A good sized cache in the obvious spot - TFTC usat31

26-Jan-19
We picked tumut for our Australia day weekend trip as there were quite a few available cachesto do, that was before the weather decided to intervene and slowed our plans up considerably. Finding water or shade become nearly as big a priority as caching. Nice shady park where geohound was able to stretch his legs. Tftc

We really appreciated the history that this cache provided on what could have just been another park.
We took the opportunity to wander around a bit before having a cuppa and a few treats. It's a fine day, but not a particularly warm or cold one
Loving the countryside and a few good sized caches.

Day eleven of our High Country holiday. Travelling from Tumut to Tumbarumba with Bettyboo3747.
Hit the occasional cache on the way, and the Bears for lunch.

A lovely spot, strange is isn't sign posted a bit better.
We met a local council worker there and had a chat about the homestead and land around the area. He has lived there all his life and so had some interesting stories.
Thanks, Robmc.

# 10023. A travelling day today as we leave Tumut and head to Tumbarumba via Batlow. Stopped at several caches along the way, many having interesting historical value - something I like about a cache. Started off by finding a cache that hasn't been found since 1st August 2013 - gotta love that!

The council worker resting on the job told us that the homestead site was beyond the toilet, and that the outline or foundations could be seen. We tried to get there but access was difficult with so many blackberries (which weren't bad, I must say). Loved the magnificent old trees here and enjoyed reading the information on the sign at the entrance.

Once he left we went back and found the cache. The listed TB from 2009 is long gone and needs to be marked as Missing!

Thanks Usat31

As it was going to be a lovely day, we decided to head for the hills to pick up a few caches.

What a great spot for a picnic, or even to camp for a few nights.
Cache was found quickly, but well covered. Left a trackable.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Usat31, for us and others to find.

We were up early to do the run from Tumut to Batlow, Tumbarumba along Elliot Way to Yarrangobilly (for a swim and cache) then on to Talbingo and back to Tumut. It was wet and misty at the start of the day but fined up nicely and we had a great day of exploring and visiting areas we have not been to before. We enjoyed doing your cache. Big GrinBig Grin Thanks to Usat31 for placing this cache.

Couldn't find it either. Didn't want to go digging in the obvious place ... but looks like nothing has been there for some time.
On a brighter note - there was a walnut tree nearby so now I can try my 'recipe' for green walnut ink.

Found on the drive to work on a rather grey Monday morning. A very pleasant spot to pull up although some buffoons had earlier decided to bbq the signs. Like Tankengine before me, my fingers copped a beating from the spikey seeds. Many thanks Usat31

Got that ole travel urge again and the need for some new uncharted places. So Victoria here I come. Travelling down the Hume Highway to Tumblong, Tumit, Batlow, Corryong then on to Albury. and all points South to the HCRT Series, and also find other caches on the way. Great little park. Nice cache. #657 found on day 180 of the caching odyssey toward that ultimate goal of 366 days in a row maybe I might end up making it a neat 400 will see what the future holds. So Lochinvar was the start of a run from Tumba to Adelong taking a few more out of the equation. This was a very lovely spot to have a quick stop and cache the area was deserted today but then what do you expect on a lovely Friday afternoon.

Thanks for a great hid Usat31

We stopped here for lunch and had a picnic nearby on one of the benches. What a great little area, and we spotted a red capped robin sitting right by the cache. The contents were quite wet but we dried them out over lunch and tightened the lid so hopefully it will be okay now.
