We have decided to archive this cache, as the original location is no longer legally accessible. Our new cache is waiting on the approval list Big Grin as we speak, and it will take over from this one.

20-Jun-10
On a maintenance run today fixing up a few new caches. When we did this cache back in August 2008, there was only paddocks around GZ with only a lone old farm house in sight. The new estates were at least 500 metres away. Today there were new estates every where and we could not find our entry road past the construction gate. So we will move this cache to a better position somewhere in Pakenham (hopefully) where visitors can experience the charm of the town.

We will check out this cache in the near future to see it is viable or if we have to move it somewhere else. Stay tuned.

Given the road works in the vicinity, the Construction Area sign, informing people of imminent prosecution, the Keep Out signs, I would have to ask, is this cache still available at the moment, OR, does it require taking offline until such time as it is accessible again???

07-May-10
Without the benefit of Google Maps out in the field I just couldn't figure out a way to get to this one. Henry Rd turned into a dirt track with fences up on either side of it, with signs saying visitors need to go to the site office. Is there another way to get to GZ?

At first I was stopped on Freeway but impossible to get the cache so I found other way and stopped. Thanks God that I did not get any muddy as been raining.. walked nice ground.. Found it. TFTC

14-Feb-10
Nice walk and climb over the barbed wire.

Quite quiet behind the barrier. I think we could probably solve all the states power issues by putting some turbines out there.... It was blowing a gale.

Any seekers watch out on the "road" in close to GZ. Very muddy atm with a chance for small vehicles to get bogged. Plenty of room to park around the area without having to negotiate the mud though.

We had to walk through a fenced construction site before getting close to GZ and then were rewarded with a fantastic spot for the dog to have a run. As mentioned earlier, the Cache was exposed so was an easy find, then we covered it up better again. I suspect the wind would have a lot to do with this. Left yellow matchbox racing car and took nothing. TFTC

Nice easy find whilst on my way home from work. It was much easier to get in via the gate. Smile TNLN.

To my good fortune a tree has fallen across the barb wire fence which makes access much simpler!
An easy find
Many thanx to Next! for the history lesson and the hide

This was the last cache of 9 for the day, the cache was found at 1520. We parked the car climbed the gate, we were sure it was locked and made our way to GZ where we soon had the cache in hand, the container has a rather large hole in the lid but was still dry. On our way back i noticed the gate was not actually locked so we opened it and walked out much easier. My thanks to Next! for the cache.

Mrs GP's second find. Got our hands dirty with this one:) Cache needs maintenance, Sistema lid damaged. Tried to find a plastic bag to re-stash cache in, but had nothing in the car, and for the first time in history, there wasn't one laying around anywhere. At least GZ is clean Smile - TFTC

Found by Bob at 1510

After some tricky TomTom re-programming, I managed to get it to guide me to this cache without having to try for it from the freeway Wink. I guess it would have been almost a driveby until a little while ago judging from the newness of the fence crossing the access road - but it was still only a short walk and, after a pretty short search, a nice find.

I saw this cache on TomTom on my way to Garfield, parked the car on the edge fo the freeway 25m from GZ. Then read the description. Damm wrong side of the fence. Decided to do this one of the way home. When I arrived at the end of the street I didn't know if I should attempt this cache or not... Locked gate, barb wire fence... They don't want people to enter. In the end I decided to go for it as there was no-one around. Finding the cache was easy.

Castration isn't a risk you face too often when caching, but clambering over the gate here nearly did it for me. Once over, it was an easy enough stroll to the cache, although the "Beware of the dogs" signs all round made us a bit uneasy. Found it, logged it, then it was back to that fence again...

Being an ex Pakenham resident, Echo was amazed by all the houses that have sprung up like a biblical plague over the paddocks here. Even though the GPSr had us driving over empty ground, getting the correct road to the cache was easy. The only trouble we had with this one was the flys...
Took cloth bag & left a bottle opener, TFTCSL.
Find #394 for Echo & Spice.

1518. This morning on the way to Melbourne neither GPS wanted to show me how to get to this cache, so I thought that if I came from the other way it would be better. Ha! After a long day caching in Melbourne both the Oregon and TomTom were doing sulky teenager impersonations so I had to wing it. Found the cache after thinking I was going to be challenged by some locals with a y.

TFTC and the amazingly quiet GZ.

I managed to drive quite close to this one and once there the cache was an easy find. That big wall really keeps the sound in effectively! When I left I had my first drive on this new bit of road. Thanks Next!

Found @1340Hrs on my way home from working in Orbost.
Pulled up @ what ithought was GZ But only to find i was on the wrong side of the wall. so after a bit of back tracking & going up the right side of the wall found the right GZ logged cache then back on the road home.

It is only now that we can bypass the city that we have beeen driving through for many years. We approached the wall from one side, but then had a horrible feeling that it might be on the other side. This was not the case, but it was close.
Thanks for the information, Robmc.

Was down this way a couple of weeks ago with my wife and had a bit of a look at or a look for, this cache. Having attacked it all wrong and don't tell anyone, slightly illegally I then realised what was required and resolved to try again at a later date. Well I didn't expect that later date to come around so soon and managed to grab this in company with Robmc on a flying visit to Sale. Thanks for the history lesson and the cache.

Find # 2570 and 12th of the day at 2:21pm. Accompanied by Feathertop on our first warm spring caching day.We had no maps of this area and TomTom was no use at all either, so we had to resort to finding this the old fashioned way, but eventualy got close enough for a short walk. Oenze and I wizzed by on the freeway and this was as close (54m) as we got to the cache for some time. There was no way that we were going to surmount this obstacle!
Anyway sometime later we found ourselves 150m and a barbed wire fence away and this proved the best approach.
Thanks Next.

Found at 3.30pm GAFF1. On a pleasant Sunday afternoon cruising and caching with Rabbitto.
We had an interesting trip to get here. We tried to over-ride TomTom, but in the end we conceded that he/she was half right. We ended up doing a huge circuit to get to the cache location, only to find a barbed wire fence between us and the reserve where the cache was located. So after a quick and careful jump we walked the 150 metres and found the cache quickly enough. This by-pass certainly has made it a lot easier for us when traveling east - and now with East Link it is a dream.
Thanks Next!

We found our 13th Next! cache at 3:30pm as the 4th of 10 on our Full Lap of the Dandenongs tour with Pprass. Finally found a way to this cache that involved retracing steps, climbing fences and wading. Thanks for the cache from D & H B-A.

I happened to be working close-by this afternoon, so I decided to stop by on the way home. Having done a lot of survey work at the nearby Heritage Springs and South East Business Park estates, I knew exactly how to best approach GZ. Henry Rd used to be a through road, but the Bypass has now put a permanent stop to that! TNLN & SL at 6:15pm. Thanks Next! for the cache & for the history lesson - a good read! Regards, 38degsouth.

Logged @ 1415 hrs.
Interesting choice of cache site I thought. Still should not get muggled too easy although it was a little exposed when we got there. Logged our find, took the coins and then covered it up better. The spread of new housing in the area is amazing, and we wonder how long it will be before the Public Transport catches up with the area.
Thanks Next! for the cache.

Just dropping in the Geocoin we did not have the number for.

22-Jul-08
This is why we enjoy caching, although we have lived in and around the area for over 25 years and have worked out of Pakenham for nearly 10 of those we still learned something new even before finding the cache. Great write up and history. There were muggles around when we first arrived so went to a friends place for a quick drink before heading back. We must have been gone longer than expected as when we returned the Coffee Clan had again beaten us by an hour.
We droped off a geocoin and a path tag but it seems we did not get them into our inventory so we will have to return to get the numbers and log them in.
Thanks Next!

Hmm I was traveling past this cache and a quick decision was made to stop off and have a look. It seems the first place I looked was unsuccessful so a quick rethink on the plan of attack was made and shortly after the cache was found easily and another FTF was logged.
Many thanks Next for the cache and a story I didn't know about.
Regards Mr.Coffee and the "What's Next!" Coffee Clan.
