Finally the journey is done. Kittykatch came up with the idea and recruited the overseas contingent. It seems like a great idea but the only real benefit of this idea now is the connection you get from contacting other cachers overseas as the description clearly states the only cache you can claim is the one you found and signed. Some parts required a lot of work to find the coords and to also find the cache. Still it was great to be in contact with the other cachers to complete this mamoth task. cagaNAcunca & Rouroni manged to find the final cache today 29/9/24 so can now claim. Fantastic job all round and hope to get to visit our caching colleagues one day. It's almost done!!

Wow this was a long time coming. I have been posting on this page since the start of 2016 so almost 6 years now. And then very suddly today it all worked out together with Brewmaker and Its Dozzie the first find on this cache in 3! years. Wow I am still amazed how this all come together in the end but very very happy I got to finally find this cache after all this time.

What a crazy idea of a cache cooperation across so many places, I guess the only problem is if some of the place have many more cachers who would want to find it than other places who get quickly void of potential team members. Still very cool and I am so glad it worked out, and thanks for the great complany for this cache and for the caches with Its Dozzi we did after. Great day!

In May 2020 the first leg was completed by Ortsac Ornas in Portugal. In June 2020 Dslater 529 completed the USA leg. South Africa was more problematic. Due to Covid 19, it wasn't until August 2021 for KrokusZA to find the next set of coordinates.

Today it was our turn and after Brewmaker's event we drove to the location where after a short search Brew found the weathered and rusted mint tin. After signing duties, a new mint tin was put in place.

Found after 3 years trying. Just over 3 years ago I posted my first WRITE NOTE about forming a team. Eventually we formed a team of international cachers, with a few of us in Australia uniting our groups, to finally come up with the Oceania GZ.

Today I was able to host my Community Celebration Event after having it put on hold since October last year due to COVID-19 and lockdowns around NSW. As it was, It's_Dozzie and Flintstones were in attendance at my event so we decided to head over to finish this off.

At GZ, we poked around before I dug out the rusty little tin at the exact location as described per the hint. The lid was stuck tight, but the rusted base came away to reveal a dry log, which we duly signed. I had a spare in the car, so we replaced it with the log and hid as found.

It has been a long time coming, but I'm glad to clear this off my map. Thanks for the teamwork from our international buddies. I hope you can all grab your local hide too. TFTC

Yesterday I received the coords for this local cache. The timing was perfect as I will be moving interstate tomorrow. This morning I went out to find the cache and to determine the coords for the next team member.
Team Geo Global (VillEcoueR, Edina351, Panters and one other) has moved one step closer to finalising the series. Looking forward to changing this note to a "Found" log soon.

Our team has found that the coordinates in the Australia cache at present for Japan are wrong by a single figure which places you in a private yard.
Fortunately a Team member was able to get the correct coordinates and the problem was overcome.
It will take me a while to correct the coordinates in the cache.

Getting close. I had a chance to visit GZ this afternoon with Nana nel and we were able to pick up the cache without any problems. Went away to sit and send information to Camone_S.
During our time away a couple set up at GZ to fly a drone and it was over an hour before we could return ti GZ to replace the cache.
Visited trackables and left a PathTag.

A little while back Brad&Janet asked if we could help with this one so of course we said yes. We headed out to the Australian way point only to not find it. The co ords seemed pretty good but we spread out just in cache. We contacted some previous finders and send some photos to confirm we had the right spot but it was gone. The area looked to have been heavily mown which could have cleaned out the cache as apparently it had little other camo. Today I joined some other cachers in search of the The Mattens which involved two abseils and of course two ascents so being in the area it was time to put this one back. We added the co ords for Japan and the team details and then added two counts of the item referred to in the hint so hopefully it will stay in place for a while. TFTC

Unfortunately the GZ area has been recently heavily cleared and the replacement cache is missing. As Brad&Janet live over 1000km from Sydney and only visit from time to time to see Brad's son, Brad contacted a local cacher - Bella at Waggy - to see if he could assist.

Sadly the CO for this cache is not longer active, but Bella was able to contact previous finders and confirm both the exact location and the fact that it is missing. He ha offered to replace the cache shortly and will add the team names to it. He was also able to get the next set of coordinates that our team needs and will place these in the cache too.

So unusually we have an extra team member now as it seems reasonable to let Bella at Waggy join our team given the help he has offered/given to keep the Oceania waypoint of this multi-cache alive.

I will change this to a found it log when the replacement cache is in place. In the meantime the coordinates for Asia have been passed to our team leader jocasife to in turn pass on to tyminke

The container was rusted through and contents badly damp. I have replaced container and added new log, so hopefully this cache will keep on keeping on!

Then we lost our initial European player, but thankfully we picked up another one on the weekend who has found the last cache only a few day after joining us. Thanks Power_red. This cache call my attention on the MEGA in Braga…
Some say that it will take years to do, other say that is hard to find the team mates…
After some time I decided to get down to work… but instead of putting on the cache page “looking for team” decided to send private messages to geocachers in the area of the cache!
After lots of messages, many without answers, some saying that they had already done it (but some suggested other names), we got together a magnificent team, super helpful and decided to do this challenge.
After the team was assembled, it was with great joy that i saw that it was running magnificently well, and extremely fast…
Without a doubt without knowing ourselves, we now are Geo”Friends”, this hobbie not only shows us unfamiliar places, but it also makes us meet good people regardless of the number of found they have.

Took a slight diversion from my usual route to work today to pick up a few caches around the Vaucluse area. This was the 3rd of 4 finds for the morning.

I had actually visited GZ last Saturday, but failed to locate the cache container, and so returned today after contacting a previous finder and learning that the cache container size is not as listed on the cache page. Thanks delloro for your help with this one.

Arrived at the now familiar GZ and made a quick find this time around. Turns out that the cache container is a "micro" rather than the listed "regular", and the hint is totally bogus having absolutely nothing to do with the cache container's placement or camo. Obviously it has all changed at some stage but has not been updated on the cache page. Anyway all good today and the Japan coords have now been recorded for passing on to our team's Japanese cacher.

The Oceania cache has now been completed in Australia and I have found the coordinates for Japan.
Now waiting for a team member in Japan to complete that cache and then the final one in Portugal.

This cache took a little while to find. There were a few possible hiding places (none of which were particularly pleasant, with prickly plants around) and I finally found the cache a few metres away from where I was expecting it. The cache container was also a lot smaller than indicated. I opened it up to find a few scrappy bits of paper, and didn't think that the co-ords for the next cache were there. Then I spotted them. Phew. Signed my name and returned as found, being careful not to let the co-ords fly away in the wind. Both the contents and the cache might need replacing very soon. TFTC and the chance to participate in this amazing world wide quest
