Logs
As there's been no cache to find or log to sign for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.
Found today after a fair bit of exploring TFTC Great viSwerVe were there with Ski pair who had found it before. There was a lot of grass.
I always appreciate reading "Did not finds" because they give me an excuse to revisit some of my favourite places. This cache is indeed missing and will be replaced as the view is worth the drive up the hill. The tide was out this morning and the ship was in and there cannot be much clearance betwween the hull and the bottom of the river.
While Code1 took photos I spent most the time on the phone. Still a nice place to spend a bit of time watching the sun set over Devonport with our ferry sitting in dock from where we left it that morning ready for our return.
JABs.

Spent too much time taking photos and only had a quick look without luck.
Nice views from up here so will come back on our next visit.

Very nice view.. would never have gone up there if it werent for geocaching.. Easy find.
Easy find, very accurate on position..!
Needs maintenance though, paper were quite wet and hard to get out

A Guy was working just across from me watching so all I got here was a few good photos.
Found with MtnLioness on our week-long sightseeing, touring and caching tour of Tasmania.
HA HA, with the clue, knew EXACTLY what we had to find, but it took a while. We found one "with", found a bolt (that wasn't hollow), then MtnLioness eventually made the find. Sneaky. Nice views too, TFTC.

Found in the company of MtbikerOz (Dad) on our week of Touring and caching around Tazzie.
Have only been able to log these once we got back to Melbourne.
Great clue!
Awesome hide!
However GZ was very grassy and about 7m off!!

It took me a while to find it. Excellent hide. Magnificent view.
Thanks CarrollEyre for the cache.

We surveyed the situation and soon had the cache in hand! Great hide and awesome view TFTC
Wow, what a great view, at 9pm on a Saturday night we felt like teenages 'parking'! hahaha oh and yes we found the cache, nice hide
Great views. We have never been to this vantage point before so enjoyed the spectacular views.
A great hide. Difficult to remove the log which is a bit damp at the top and prone to disintegrating.
Thanks for taking us to a different part of Devonport.

We are on an “Escaping Christmas” and “Geocaching” holiday in Tasmania. We arrived at GZ and after reading the hint we thought we had found the cache attached to the power pole. Unfortunately it wasn’t the cache. After 30 minutes of searching and just about giving up, Deb found the cache. Very sneaky!! TNLNSL TFTC
Excellent hide! After searching for ten minutes, I retreated back to the bike, kicking my feet on the road in disgust when I spotted something odd. Tftc
went for a look and couldnt find it after a big search(no gps) , went back home to research it a bit more, then found it in no time nice hide. tftc
I suspected that I had identified the type of hide from the name and description so was keen to find out if I was right. Yep - sure was. And I proved once again that pair of tweezers is an indispensable part of a cachers toolkit when it comes to removing the log from a micro container. Great view from up here - can see a spot over the river where there's a cache I couldn't find last time - must get back there and try again. TFTC.
The lynx-eyed Landlockedsailoress spotted this one before I even had time to get out of the car!
What a great view. I bags the block the cache is on!

Sold! It took us a few days to find a way into this area, but what an amazing spot. This was our favourite Devonport view.

The last cache for the day and the final one of our Tassie Tour, now it's time to head to the ferry and depart Van Diemens Land. A nice hide to finish on with a great view of Devonport and an ingenious, yet simple hide. Unfortunately we fear for it's longevity once construction starts in this area.

#727 @ 4.20pm on our Tassie Caching Adventure with DazzPete. This was our last cache of the day and of our Tasmanian finds & what a beauty to finish on. Great views of the area and a lovely hide made this a great last find.

Outstanding!! Hiding place and views. Clue makes perfect sense. Opened the door to the vehicle and walked around the other side and beep beep!! You have arrived.
Ok - so the clue doesn't make sense, but the hiding spot is awesome. Fantastic views too. The container is a great idea, but getting the pen and paper out may take you longer than finding the cache itself.

This is another great hide and just what we have come to expect from the Eyres. Thanks guys for a top cache location and hide.
Found it this afternoon with Mrs Iamapom (this log submitted from The Spirit of Tasmania in the middle of Bass Straight)
Wow what a view for a house plot !
We thought we had found the cache, until we realised that it was an "improvised devise for the smoking of hemp based substances".
Found the cache soon after that. Classy hide. TFTC:

Hi CarollEyre; found and logged this one at 0827hrs. Great views on a nice sunny morning. TFTC and cheers; OldSaint.
Great View of Devonport. Tricky hide and very cleaver. paper was full, but had none to replace. Managed to get our names on though. TFTC.
Popped in for the view on the way into Devonport, getting dark but I managed to find it, then had trouble getting the log out but got there eventually. Thanks for a nice spot. I wonder how long this cache can last once the houses get built?!
Geoniece found it straight away, but I told her good try, but not it. 10 minutes later realised my folly. Great cache and views!

A quick find as Moneydork called the type of hide in the car as we pulled up. Lovely view from up here! Cheers Gav [5988]
Now this was a cache after our own hearts. Great views & great hide which was luckily well-spotted by the eagle eye among us. TFTC
Hehehehehe, Loved the hide!
Wouldn't you know it, a former cacher has purchased one of the blocks near GZ (not the former cacher I was visiting when I did Pernambul on the same day, but another one... I know a lot of ex-cachers around Devonport it would appear.....) ... I drove up to check out his block, and then noticed there was a cache 4m from where I was parking...which had me scratching my head for a bit as I couldn't fathom where you would hide a cache, then it all became clear.
Great hide!
Thanks for the cache!

Absolutely THE BEST cache for a long time. I found it very easily because I must think like the cache owner.
The view was good too!
Thanks!

Found by Mary & David at 0750. We're sure the view here must be wonderful, but today all we could see was fog and mist. We were lucky to find this one immediately, but loved the cunning camo. Our thanks to CarrollEyre, and great to meet you that evening.
Last time I was in Devonport was 1991......not sure if this area was here then, but the view is fantastic. Took a good few photos.
Cache was a very clever hide, with the cache description very good......and clear. Thanks for that...........and the cache.

Loved the hide, just perfectly fitting in with the surroundings. Another couple was up there, I think scoping out the area to buy or maybe just looking at the views. Weirdos, I had much more important things to do, and there only so much time you can pretend to take photos, especially when there's not much around to take photo's of 'close up'.
Thanks CarrollEyre, a great intro to caching in D-Port!

Our last find in Tasmania this visit! A great view of the harbour. We replaced the wet log book. Thanks again Carroll Eyre!
Clever hide, but couldn't use log. It resembles a tissue at the end of a wash cycle. Another piece of Devonport not visited before. TFTC.
Finally I found this one... it had me so puzzled last time but seemed so easy this time! A really clever little cache.
Isn't it funny how you can spend ages looking for a cache on the first visit, then spy it before you even get out of the car on your second visit?
Very clever hide!
Very clever hide!
We checked this one today to find that it is still there looking somewhat innocuous. The block of land has been sold immediately in front of the GZ so I might have to move the cache once building starts. The pencil is a bit soggy so I will replace with a drier pencil soon. The log is nearly full and I will replace that with some "Write in the Rain" paper.
Enjoy the view while you can........

What a nice view! We had a good look around with no success. We think we know what we should have been looking for, but that didn't help us today.
Now I'm curious - where on Earth could it be hiding?!

We spent some time looking for this one - first finding how to get there, then looking forthe hide. We are pretty sure we got the "nail" clue, but still no joy.

Spent some time admiring the city lights before getting down to the task of finding the cache.
Took a bit to get the log out but got it with my pinky. Log book was damp - may need to modify the container slightly?
Thanks

I found this about 30 seconds after getting out of the car, as luck would have it. Nice hiding spot, and great view. I hope it doesn't get built out any time soon.
Came to Devonport on 'a little foray north'. Just a little opportunity for me due to a training course commitment for the number 1 man. Great spot - took some nice pics - I hope to get organised and upload them on the weekend. Didn't see the cache but I think my brain switched on on the way back to Cygnet - it is a long road and plenty of time for thinking. So I will be back and will include this one for my grandiose tour entitled "Nearly every Cache is North of me". Not sure when that will be, but it will be. And it will be longer than 1/2 a day. Thanks for the great views.
What a delightful view of Devonport
I wonder, do they decorate the oil tanks with lights at Christmas ?
It certainly made me realise that this is the transportation hub of the triangular state
Getting down to business, I had read the notes, noted the clues and had a really good idea of what I thought I should be looking for. This should be a snap
But I had more than ample time during my search to eat the ham, salad roll and apple pie I had purchased from the bakery at the bottom of the hill
Half way through washing breakfast down with a can of fizzy cola I finally spotted the blighter
TFTC and views!!

We decided that with what we had learnt finding Bluff Shell that we should come back and have another go at this one - and it was a good plan. Great cammo CarrolEyre! The view from here this afternoon was pretty great too.
Gave log a new zip lock baggie as other one wasn't closing properly and log seemed a little damp.

Your description said it all, CarrollEyre. A top spot and a top cache!
On signing the log I noticed I was the 1st visitor to this cache in 2009, Something of an achievement for me.
Thistlecat and members of Gryff's pack took advantage of the discovery.

Used to live in this area about 22 years ago and have not been back until today Good hide Thanks
I really appreciated the effort that has gone into this hide and the viewpoint from up here was a first for me also.
I arrived late in the day and this was the first of just a few local caches on this trip.
Thanks Carrolleyre

Cache receiving attention, i.e. a good dry and some waterproofing, sorry for taking a while but work commitments on the west coast kept me away for a while.
Should be back out this afternoon.
Should be back out this afternoon.

Found by Roma and Max.
Having little local knowledge we let our Garmin direct us to the vicinity of your hide.
However on arrival at GZ it became obvious that our mapping needed an update as we could have made this one a drive by.
We found a very cunning cache container but unfortunately the contents were very wet. The log is just about beyond recovery. We did manage to leave our mark on it.
Thank you CarrollEyre for this experience, and our compliments on your well designed and constructed container.

March Brown and I enjoyed the search for this cache but embarrassingly he watched me touch it then I moved away and he moved in and picked it straight up
Thanks for the fun and clever hide CarrollEyre you northerners are really coming up with some tricky hides
We couldn't sign the log because it was very damp so we left a team sticker in the cache with our names on it.

Wouldnt you love to live up here with a huge deck taking in the great scenery, Cool hide
Found this one when I was Mrs Cheesy Pig. I have struck out on my own and am now logging the caches I found in my previous persona (but not the ones found only by Mr Cheesy Pig of course)! Let me know if you would like me to find it and log it again but under my new name.
Found this in the wonderful company of Dippy and Gargeo. I have left another ziploc bag to keep the log dry, but it might need a new container. Excellent hide though - very sneaky Grat views too! TFTC
Great hide. Great view. Found just before leaving to head back south after the event. Thanks Carrolleyres.
Never been up here before and found it in the dark Very clever hide hope it lasts. TNLNSL
Certainly is a great view of the river from up here.

Certainly one of the best views available of Devonport...great spot....very sneaky hide as well...almost M/Mobbish...nice one.....took me back to my working days. Many thanks FTC CE....Cheers.

Darn - third to find. Serves me right for letting the teenager answer the phone instead of "Not now we have to go caching!"
I loved the hide and thanks for the hint! but fear for the container - both bags are already torn at the top although the seal is intact and the pencil doesn't fit easily. Try asking for a plain jane blood sample tube from your GP's office.
