After some unsavoury activity in the Ballarat region recently which has unfortunately headed this way also, I went to check on this and another cache nearby. As predicted by the previous log/pic, both caches are gone. :/
I have been in touch with the other CO however have been informed that the CO for this cache is no longer active hence this Note.
One selfish person spoiling it for us all. Sad

Australia Day! A great time to catch up with the family, do a spot of camping and of course find a few caches. We were off to Lake Bolac to spend an extra long weekend of fishing, telling a few stories and a round of golf.

Of course, the fishing and golf provided great fodder for the story telling, the fish that got away or the golf shot that was almost a hole-in-one so a self-perpetuating vicious cycle was created.

Alas, today I had to pack up and head off early as I needed to be elsewhere for the day with my side of the family.

I was on my way back to St. Arnaud from the family function I decided to take a detour and grab some caches on the way home.

A quick and easy grab to round out the day. TFTC

Find #857 @ 1512

After having to go to Ballarat for an appointment I decided to take the long way home to grab some caches.

Am I glad that it was not a hot day as the grass at GZ was well over knee high and I would not have had a chance to see a snake if there was one there.

cache is still water logged but I had nothing one me to replace it.

First find after a short stop for lunch on the outskirts of Clunes in the picnic area. Pole 39 was spotted quickly on arrival at GZ. I took a big deep breath before entering into the long dry grass, and bogonghazy, my caching buddy for the day, already had the cache log in his hands. Logged and returned. Thanks for this one flyjabiru1. A nice quick pick up whilst on a day out around the area. Log is drenched wet though.

Quick find after the careful walk through the thigh high grass.
Sully1 is a brave girl and found a different path, must've thought I'd get any slitherers angry and they'd bite her.

The long grass wasn't that bad as it was only a short hop from the parked car, the cache was pretty wet, no surprises as the hide isn't the best spot around.

Didn't take any major thinking after reading the name for this one. Wasn't a fan of the long grass - always a concern!! Thanks for hiding a cache. Signed log.

Had a bit of water in the jar. The log was soaked but there were dry post-it notes in a ziplock bag. I didn't sign them as the water seemed to have affected the biro. Grass was long but not too thick. Tks.

13-Dec-10
We found an easy park and also a very easy cache find, although the grass around gz could definitely do with a mow as it was well over waist high. The only thing that we didn't see was the local landmark mentioned on the cache page, we must have been fixated on the GPS
Thanks flyjabiru1 for the cache

Out for a days caching on the Moolort Plains. Like Clunes township and surrounding areas, Pole 39 has been subject to extreme precipitation and the log and contents are very wet. Sorry that we had no spares with us today. Today a quick find in loooooong grass.
Entry logged a bit late (4/12/10).

Certainly a quirky cache!

Still a tad wet insider and I suspect maybe wetter after the rains of late.

Dried out contents as best could.

Nonetheless, considering the hydrology still in OK nick.

The grass is very tall, so future Cachers be mindful of snakes.
