A beautiful town with some interesting buildings and the different businesses they have become over the years. You know when you arrive in Victoria when you see the gutters in the street made of the same stone as the old buildings. A very enjoyed morning stroll collecting all the required information all the while talking to a special friend about my travels and my caching adventures.TFTC feathertopKeep smiling
I quite often don't have time to stop in these lovely little towns but this time I was passing thru at lunchtime so I grabbed a bite to eat and wandered around gathering information. Thanks for an interesting history tour. Was a bit worried at GZ because of the fencing but thankfully another finder had placed the cache somewhere safe and accessible.
Solved the co-ordinates on our way to micaparamedic's Earthcache Day Event in Vaughn Springs, but ran out of time to find the hide, so came back a couple of hours later on our way home to Melbourne. Found the cache in a different GZ after seeing the construction work and reading some of the logs.Dropped off a travelbug for more caching adventures. TFTC
I was in Kyneton on another matter but caches were also being sought after. This was an interesting multi in which the historical buildings in Piper Street were highlighted whilst gathering the required information. GZ was located not far away.
*Found on the 21 Sep 2024 @ 3:46pm.**Cache find # 15820.* I was passing through Kyneton and stopped to find the caches in town and had to complete this multi, I had gathered all the info, then worked out GZ and headed there next only to discover that what ever the structure was at GZ, had now been removed and fenced off as it looks like they are going to build a new structure. So the chances of the cache still being were very slim, but what do you know as I was having a look around, I spotted a container, could this be the cache and sure enough it was, the only thing is that it was on the other side of the fence and well out of reach.I headed off as the were to many muggles about but returned sometime later and I was able to get in and retrieve the cache, the log was signed but it was no point replacing it where I found it so I replaced under the closest corner to GZ of the other nearby structure.**Thanks to feathertop for keeping the game going by placing this cache.**
Thanks for a great multi along the historic piper street great history lesson TFTC
Happy International Geocaching Day!It was time to start the Great Victorian Cache Crawl and with scores of geocachers already in the area it was a great atmosphere. Plenty of social opportunities, loads of caches to find and just good fun to be had! With the car packed, there was only one thing left to do - Find some caches! This was one of the many stops made along the way.A nice little tour of the town and we managed to find it despite the constructions works. As we departed some fellow cachers arrived at GZ.A big thanks goes to feathertop for taking the time to add Historical Piper Street to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Are you ready for Victorias next big event?Join us for Victorias first ever *Block Party* to celebrate 25 years of geocaching.**When:** March 22 - 23, 2025**Where:** Hume Global Learning Centre, SunburyLog your will attend at [**GCAP417: The Sunbury Event** ](https://coord.info/GCAP417) Visit our [**Block Party website** ](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/the-sunbury-event) for more details on the exciting lineup of events and activities as they are released!
The first day of The Great Victorian Cache Crawl 2024 and 2 days of fun and laughs has started. After the breakfast event in Sunbury I gained a front seat passenger for the day and the dog and possum that usually occupy the front seat were not happy about the relegation to the back seat.We are heading north and we started looking for caches that jumped out on us or looked interesting in the time we had before arriving at the next event. We are hoping the rain disappears soon or hopefully its going to a quick park and fond kind of day.I had solved this one on a previous visit to Kyneton and have had 2 previous attempts thwarted by muggles. The place was empty except for another geocaching party and maybe it was the rain that kept everyone away.A fav goes out to you for this one. Thanks feathertop TFTC.
A quiet spot today. Loved the house on the way. The GZ fence made the final trickier than usual Id say! Today we decided to go for a drive to Kyneton. A beautiful sunny day to explore the area. A lovely wander here admiring the old buildings and history. Final calculation done and we headed back to a spot we were earlier. Thanks feathertop for creating for us all to enjoy. An interesting wander along this fascinating street where the focus was on the buildings rather than what they could offer the buyers. TFTC feathertop
We took a pleasant walk down the street on a mizzly winters day. Did the calculations and found GZ where repairs made it a little difficult to access, but found it after a few minutes. Left 1922 halfpenny. TFTC.
Staying with UncleTom3 at the timeshare resort in Kyneton for the week. Had a nice (although drizzly) stroll through Pipers Street and then headed for GZ after working out how to use the app with custom waypoints. GZ has fences around it but were still able to retrieve the cache without getting wet. TFTC from Tassie.
Finally found this cache after my coordinates were corrected by the CO. Thanks for your help Feathertop. Arrived at GZ and saw that it was being repairs but after a bit of a search located the cache and stamped my name in the log. Great area and a great town. TFTC Feathertop. Favourite given
Found today in the company of the CO after a gorgeous lunch in Piper's St.Great multi..
A most interesting wander up the street after work today. The people that I met were delightfully polite. There is so much to see and do in Kyneton.Thank you for placing this multicache for our entertainment.
A nice walk on a beautiful day, I calculated GZ after the last waypoint and decided to head back, have some lunch and pick up the car before grabbing the cache. Container in good condition and log dry. Left a trackable and a pathtag. TFTC
After visiting a friend in Castlemaine, we detoured to do this informative multi. Beautiful old buildings viewed between showers of rain. With GZ calculated we set off, but this is where I ended up quite wet as the grass was up to my knees Thanks feathertop.
Found today with Bogonghazy and Sorceysal after lunch in Kyneton. Some great old buildings, and a multi cache similar to a Lab cache. Quick find at GZ , thanks feathertop
Found with LittleBoss2 and Sorceysal where we mixed walking and driving to minimise getting drenched from the rain. A very quick find at GZ, as SS was onto the new current location. Nice sized cache, and certainly dry with the double insulation. Fave added, thanks Sally
A great walk along Piper St with Bogonghazy and Littleboss 2 gathering clues. Drove to GZ as it was starting to rain. Thanks Sally for a very informative cache. Container is in good shape. A fave of course
Arfter seeing this cache was re enabled and solving the puzzle a while back I decided to stop by and sign my name in the log as I was on my way home from visiting my mum for mothers day.

I had fun with this one. Normally multis are not my thing but I really enjoyed the walk along Piper Street and finding the required information. As a heritage specialist, it really lightened my heart to see so many heritage buildings being adaptively reused. The new functions are adding yet another layer to the historical depth and fabric of these places and it is lovely to see.
The cache itself was in a beautiful location with interesting sculptures to find and admire. I then managed to get completely distracted before remembering that I had a cache to find. Cache was finally located, log signed and cache replaced. Then I spent another 10 mins searching for acorns with their hats attached and collecting some to take home with me for my curio boxes.
All in all, a lovely way to explore Kyneton and enjoy the amazing streetscapes. TFTC and fav point for the lovely waypoints.

I took a wander down the street. So much to see and look at. I collected the numbers I needed as I went. The cache was found safe and sound. TFTC
I completed the waypoints here several months ago - not long after the floods actually. Once mapped I didn't even bother going to GZ I had a wee bit of time today after grocery shopping & spotted that it had been re-enabled!! Many thanks Feathertop
I completed this cache while I was preparing the Adventure Lab 'Beautiful Kyneton'. The times I went in search of the cache there were muggles about, either parked or wandering around. Today I got another opportunity and made the find very quickly. I remember the walk down Piper Street was a great history lesson. Falling in love with this town. A favourite point from me. TFTC.
The structure is fenced off awaiting repairs but I have placed a replacement cache under the north east end. Easily reachable. Ex fruit container
The rains and floods have destroyed the hide. I will await council repairs here Mid autumn expected. Will check again in March once repairs done..
We were in the local area and decided to explore Kyneton. What a beautiful town. After having beautiful pizzas at one of the cafes we decided to explore the street while getting the required clues. We even stopped at the museum to explore the buildings. Well worth the visit. We got the required information and headed down to GZ. It looks like the recent rain has done some damage making it impossible to explore the location. We decided it was not safe. We will have to come back another time.
#190 thanks for the cache
I didn't know much about Kynetons history so this was a great way to learn about the food capital of Victoria.
The views of the final GZ were amazing! Thanks very much

I had to ask Feathertop (twice) where this cache was. Not actually in the map…unless I don’t yet know how multis work. Thankfully we’re stubborn ️
This cache took us to a number of interesting places but has taken some time to complete. Thanks for the tour and keeping this cache going so that we could get it finished.
What a great way to take a tour of this nice little town. Pleased to have completed this cache as it has taken a couple of visits, not sure why. Thank you for placing this cache and keeping it active for so long.
Out & about getting a few caches. Stop off in town to get a coffee then thought we’d do this multi. Nice little spot. Quick find by Geohubby. Found with Lorigus74. TFTC

Did this the day I took mum pout for the day, forgot to log, so here it is now. It was a lovely multi, anything to do with old buildings (especially bluestone) I thoroughly enjoy. This was one I enjoyed and the cache was quickly found in a pretty spot. An avenue of oaks still with autumn leaves made a great photo. Thank you Feathertop!
After grabbing the new Ad Lab in town we headed to Piper street for something to eat and an explore. While the geomissus explored the shops, I grabbed the info needed for this multi.
After a late-ish lunch at the 3 bird larder, we headed to the final GZ where a quick find was made.
Have taken the trackable. A fave from me.
I am visiting Victoria from Perth for a couple of weeks. This is a trip that we have been looking forward to for ages. Planning a week in Melbourne and a week out in regional Victoria.
Today sees us commencing week 2 and heading to Daylesford for the next 5 days.

feathertop - Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment. I love travelling and visiting some places that I would only visit due to this game.

Thank you for the nice little tour of Piper St and then a nice place to sit and enjoy nature. Lovely
Amazing historical journey. Favorite point well deserved. I filled the cache with a traceable and 3d printed art. Thanks for the cache.
Campaspe river is up after last night's thunderstorm, but cache in position still. Log a bit damp, but still ok to sign. So many exercising muggles! Thanks for a fun wander down Piper St, then a long walk/run on the river trail before picking up the cache. Tftc!
On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird. I’ll leave the more interesting detailed log to Mrs Geo (aka: SeasonedBird, Salty Chook, the Old Boiler, Old Chook, Dirty Bird or Angry Bird) because she writes so much more eloquently than I and usually has much more time to do so while I’m driving. It’s a great day for caching. TFTC feathertop

Found out caching with Wollaston on a slow meander north. Fabulous buildings in town and a great history of their evolution. At gz got my brave chook on watched by a sister bird creation with a steely gaze, and reached in past the spiders to grab the container.
Container condition good
Log condition lots of room a little damp
Thanks to CO’s for taking time to set out and maintain hides and for showing us your very special part of the world

Had the final coordinates from my previous visit to Kyneton, when I could not obtain the cache due to muggles in the area. All quiet this time around. Thanks for the short tour.
What a delight Kyneton turned out to be! After a delicious lunch at the Social Foundary we wandered down Piper Street gathering the wps. Found ourselves outside Animus gin distillery so went in for a G&T tasting paddle...as you do! Made a quick find a short walk away. Zeus loved the scultpure near GZ
Today's outing was brought to me by my girlfriend and her friends who wanted to go out peony picking at a local farm in Spring Hill and have morning tea in Kyneton. Organizing for myself and Yida to arrive early so we could do a cache or two.
Enjoying the lovely walk down the main road we were introduced to a very friendly cat who followed us on our adventure for a couple 100m.
The cache was found but was very much so out of reach for most....
Luckily I was able to get it and put it back in a more accessible way sort of..... seems like it was moved by natural forces.
Thanks for the cache and the little adventure.

A nice historical journey that ended with a great view. Tough find to be honest. Coins and marbles, two of my favourite categories! Replaced with various goodies in equal numbers. Dropped a trackable as well. Thanks for the cache.
I started today fairly seedy. I had enjoyed some port around my campfire the previous night and not got going as early as I had hoped. But I had decided to just amble along.
Enjoyed my walk up the street and then after a short hunt at go I had the cache in hand. Signed and replaced, but then I realised I’d been spotted by a muggle in a nearby car.
No problem, walk confidentially back to my car. They asked what I’d been doing and I said I was inspecting the strength of the structure. They told me someone had parked their car on it yesterday so I told them that’s not a good idea as it’s not rated to that strength and I got in my car and drove away.
Interesting multi. TFTC.

This was our first multi cache and was a great one to start with. Once we figured out what to do we were off exploring the beautiful street. We really enjoyed it
Loved the walk down piper st. I have recently moved to Kyneton and it was good to dig a bit deeper into the rich history of this town. TFTC.
After finishing the clues and tracking down gz I looked for the cache and found it relatively easily and quickly. Beautiful and picturesque and point so I decided to sit down after a decent drive from Melbourne TFTC!
Beautiful old buildings with plenty of history to discover as we strolled along Piper Street. With GZ calculated, we were rewarded to a lovely, quiet location where Steve made a nice quick find, then we just sat back and soaked in the atmosphere.
A thorough enjoyable multi feathertop. Thank you.

What a cool interesting stroll along the historical street. Got all the numbers required and headed for gz. All good with the cache and a nice setting tftc
Disabled for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis. Advice is to stay home and geocaching is just a game. Geocaching encourages non essential travel and contact transmission is an issue so it is the responsible thing to avoid caching at the moment.
Thanks.
Thanks.
What an interesting walk through the town. Initially thought we had the wrong final cords but no it was our poor searching! TFTC
Caching while at the event at Lauriston reservoir. Our third multi for the day and the weather has cleared enough to not get wet doing the stages. TFTC feathertop

It seems we always choose a busy weekend to visit Kyneton! We were here in March last year when the Lost Trades Fair was in full swing. One could not even get a park in ANY street let alone take a quiet walk to check out the wonderful historic places in Piper Street. Today was a very different story. There is a music festival here this weekend, but it doesn’t start until tomorrow. So apart from a couple of bands testing out their sound equipment, it was easy to find a park and take a leisurely stroll. An interesting, but windy, walk that led us to a quiet spot and the discovery of the cache. SL at 5pm Left: Party Girl TB - maybe she will come in useful for someone this weekend or whenever she is next discovered. This was the first of three multi’s we successfully completed today. #6542 TFTC feathertop - we have the feeling we will be finding a few of your caches this weekend.
The last time I was in Kyeton was 2012, Boxing day. I had spent the week here whilst Mum was dying in the hospital. I used caching as a form of respite from the long hours by the bedside. There was one cache I had my eye on and never got a chance to grab - and it was this one. I think maybe I just also wasn't that good with multis back then.
Today, 2019 I am back, alone (with Bentley), in good spirits, much better at multis, and still missing Mum. This cache was one of the last for the day and was therefore the target. I must admit I drove most of it however obviously did so slowly taking it all in and parking for each WP. At some points I wasn't sure whether I was still in Kyeton or whether now on the set of Deadwood. A last bit of calculation and a short drive away led me to a beautiful little peaceful location. The find was easy, as a good multi should be. This cache is a classic and will go down as a favourite for me. Loved checking out this out town and revising it in somewhat a better place. Thanks Feathertop - a fave from me.

Stay in Kyneton for the weekend. Nice old historic town got me interesting about their history. Enjoyed with multi. Easy to find. Thanks feathertop for placing this multi
This keeps coming up in Pocket Queries and since I was nearby today I decided to bite the bullet and spend time working it out.
GZ had me originally near a back yard but as I have become dyslexic I sorted my numbers and soon had a a better spot.
With that sorted I soon had the cache in hand.
I enjoyed the stroll down this historical street which was busier than I expected.

An excuse to go go caching to find some of the lost jewels from the museum, while taking a trip away for the weekend. Picking up some great gems along the way.
Collected all the required info to get some likely co-ords. Then it was just a matter of waiting for a few walking muggles to pass, so the cache could be discovered and stamped. Love all the artwork.
Thanks feathertop for all the effort of placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play

Thanks for the Cache. This is my first multi! Was a great walk thru piper st. And an easy find at the end. Awesome day out
Out and about with Mr X ambo for a drive and called into this old town. did the walk and discovered all the points of interest in the old town. picked up the clues and then ventured to GZ nice easy find thanks for the cache Feathertop
Nice little stroll down pipes st. Had to wait for the muggle to leave. And then signed the log.. awesome cache thanks very much.
M wanted to visit the Kyneton Telstra shop so while he talked technical, I decided to go for a stroll and hopefully find this multi. I don’t usually go out of my way for multi’s, being more of a park-n-grab cacher but I did enjoy my tour of this historic street.
Strangely I found the cache in the 2nd place I looked too!
I left a travel bug and took the empty tic tac container which I can’t imagine anyone would actually want.
Thanks

I had some time on my hands while my wife did some shopping so I went for a walk to get the required information, found a seat nearby worked out an answer and trekked off to GZ. A nice quick find in the second place I checked. Thanks for an informative multi. Cheers and TFTC
TFTC. we were heading to Melbourne for our daughter’s birthday. We usually go via Western Highway, but we had time and there was another LGA to tick off the list. We stopped in Kyneton to explore, finds a few caches and to have lunch. We successfully did all of that.
We took a walk along Piper Street , love the historical notes on the various buildings. After doing the calculations we walked a little further and quickly found the cache container before an elderly muggle approached us. He thought we were fishing. We were but not the way he thought.

Heading home from the big smoke I needed a break and a good leg stretch. Rembering I still had a multi here in Kyneton I figured its as better stop than any.
Well the town was jam packed today. Looks as though there's a festival of some sort going on, with roads closed, blow up castles and big tents blocking the street.
Finally finding my way through town and then a car park the walk was on, boy I think all of Melbourne was out here today.
With GZ worked out I was off to, thankfully, a quieter location. Where I found the cache in the logical location. (Well the second of 2 logicis)

Yet another, very cold and windy day, we ventured out after lunch to tidy up an assortment of caches in and around Kyneton.
Quite familiar with the town from days gone by, it was great to see these amazing old buildings from the geocaching angle and soak up the history.
Thanks to 'feathertop' for the hunt and cache placement

Enjoyed wandering along the street searching for clues - my first multi and Tracey’s first ever cache. Glad it wasn’t too hard! - Ellen & Tracey
Starting our day at Macedon and finishing it with 2 FTF's in Harcourt we really enjoyed the locations each and every cache took us to, showing us the history of the area and in some cases breath taking views.
We couldn't believe the amount of old buildings we viewed as we ambled down Piper St collecting the clues , one side in the cold shadows of the tall buildings and the sunny side slightly warmer. At GZ we had to wait for some desperate lady who had driven down here just to have a secret cigarette before eventually making the find.
Thanks feathertop for highlighting these great National Trust Icons.

I somehow missed logging this whole day out with Cybergran V and her Muggle Hubby. Oops

Is "SFTLL" a thing? Wish it was.
(Sorry For The Late Log)
Wow! I could not believe the traffic in Kyneton today. I guess it is due to the Lost Trades Fair. We had intended to go to it, but when we saw the crowds and lack of parking, we chose to go Geocaching instead.
Gathering the info for this one was more like playing musical chairs, than a pleasant amble up the street.
Whilst Muggle Hubby was held up in traffic jams, dalerious and I took turns at leaping out of the car, taking a photo, and jumping back in again.
When ad sufficient info to get a set of coordinates, we travelled to ground zero, and Muggle Hubby parked with the motor running, whilst dalerious found the log, we both signed it, traded some swag, and were on our way.
Thanks for the cache and the exercise getting in and out of the car.
Sorry we missed the Fair, it seems to have been very popular.

4/3/18 what a beautiful walk you’ve taken us on for this multicache well worth the 30 minute trek through history!

I was visiting the area for the weekend and took the opportunity to do some caching in the evening. I enjoyed my stroll along Piper Street though occasionally I struggled to find the information needed... clearly tired from the days climbing! Once I calculated GZ I was a little worried I had it wrong but checking the satellite picture gave me some confidence that it might be plausible. It was quiet at GZ and found after the second pass. TFTC!
A morning road trip to Turpin Falls from Ballarat had the kids (still on school holidays) and I detour via this cache. Finally! My third visit. It was missing the first time and clearly cache blindness the second time. Nice to tick this off! A beautiful street to explore before heading to GZ. Many thanks for the cache.
This led us bit of a chase up and down Piper Street to get all the required numbers for this cache. Eventually I had them all, plugged them into my device and wound our way to GZ. What a delightful spot! We found a likely spot where indeed I found it, but numerous Muggles, mostly with dogs, interrupted the retrieval. As the sun set we retrieved the cache and signed the log. Great multi cache in an interesting old town.
Find #1606 for me. Found at 4pm with a muggle friend on our way back to Bendigo from Melbourne. My friend was the one who made the quick find while I was searching on the wrong side of the structure and he was pretty chuffed about it! I even took his photo with the cache in hand which I won't share here as it would give away the final location. Actually jtnsilo, virbull and I had done all the hard work collecting the necessary information in January last year but at that time the cache had gone AWOL. It's taken me until now to return so very happy to finally complete the journey. The cache and contents were all in good condition. Thanks for bringing us to these very interesting historical locations in Kyneton feathertop and thanks for the cache!
Nice walk and a lovely final location. Cache is fine and not hard to find.
I had a wonderful time driving / walking around Kyneton but when I got to GZ the rains started again.
I had a bit of a look but decided that with thunder etc (and lightning...) it wasn't too wise to hang around.
Thanks for the fun historical tour, anyway.

Historical Piper Street.......a little dream come true.
While we planned our trip through AUS we found this cache on GC and it was fixed to our journey.
So today we had a wonderful walk through this lovely little town. Between 9:30 and one hour later there wasn't to many people around.
Kyneton is an amazing place for a walk.
At GZ we get a bit upset.....no cache.....
What a mess.....We looked around everywhere and than we found it at 10:35 a. m.
But?! Is it really at the northern end?

It has been a busy few days after spending Friday/Saturday/Sunday and a part of Monday caching around St Arnaud, down to Linton Tuesday and up this way Wednesday.
The hardest part is all the logging but though time consuming it has to be done.
Parked and grabbed our notes, well I still find it easier, and wandered along the street gathering our numbers as we went.
OK time to work out where the prize is and off we went. All good with the container and log. replaced and we were on our way home but still a couple to find.
