WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 10 - Cleve to Port Lincoln via Port Neill and Tumby Bay. My short days continue and I spent a bit of time around Cleve before I got under way. Plenty of roadside caches along the highways. I ventured into Pot Neill, Tumby Bay and Port Louth to check out the villages. As ever I would have loved to have stopped for lunch or dinner in each one, but I stuck to the plan and made it to the caravan park in Port Lincoln. Once I was set up I went and did a few more caches on the edge of town. A couple more Counties today. I'll spend another day here tomorrow before heading North West to th Nullabor over a few days after that. The field day area seems quite extensive, but it was all empty today and I could go and search out this cache alone today. Thanks for the cache Tweety246597.2 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2009 NT Uluru Gold A#150**Albida**
TFTC Tweety2 your cache EP Field Days that we found today. Camped in Cowell. Nice fishing today, Strong Wind Warning issued. After a nice sleep in we ventured out to Cleve. A new LGA for us. The day started overcast and a couple of hours later the occasional spot of rain turned into a continuous drizzle. Called it a day but we had collected 19 caches and the Adventure Lab.While we were touring on the wherigo we stopped here to make the findFind Count: 17608
OCW PelDroedGwin and geodog Peppa Our last day full day in Cleve and its a hot one. Picking up the last few town caches in the aircon of the car. A quick find here.Tftc
Camped up at the Cleve Showgrounds and out caching the area. This one had a bit of everything, bees mosquitoes thorns, however didnt see the aforementioned marsupial. Thanks Tweety2 and Redmond for this adventure tftc
Day 5 at Cowell and today we had Cleve in our sights. After a short search we were joined by the CO who had arrived to do maintenance. I pointed out the sugar glider that I had discovered earlier and we then found the cache that was out of reach. After retrieving, the CO temporarily disabled until relocating. TFTC
Coordinates changed from:S 33 42.106 E 136 28.806Coordinates changed to:S 33 42.103 E 136 28.800Distance from original: 35.5 feet or 10.8 meters.Coordinates changed due to the close proximity of a marsupials home at the other location.
Found it but looks like it has fallen further down and we were unable to retrieve the cache but could clearly see the pink top.
Touring around the EP on holidays, today caching in and around Cleve. Completed the Cleve Cleaver and CT as well as the odd cache on the way. Would be good to see a field day here.

Took off to the North West a bit with Purrfect Di to avoid the rains back home.
Turned out this worked quite well as we only had a couple of showers for the whole weekend and saw some great scenery and found the odd cache or two!
Coming here late at night we were completely oblivious to the fact the EP field day marquees were alreay being set up nearby!!! Luckily didn't disturb anyone.
Many thanks to Tweety2 for placing and maintaining this cache on our SA geo-map

Travelling around - searching, spotting and signing cache logs using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S21u, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just a guyess or plain old dumb luck
Plenty of that luck stuff actually !!!
*All the online logs are composed and published with GSAK of course.*
---
Beware! Caching is a very hazardous activity!
Look out for sand, mud, snakes, surprise cliffs, roos, wombats, things falling from trees, bulldust, and floods, and sharp rocks in your tyres
try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall off your ladder...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- and do watch out for germs and bugs !!! . [xx(]
Make Travel Bugs the Only bugs you share and pass on
Keep your distance - cache the countryside
Really fantastic of all those placing quality caches out and about around the country areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game safe, fun, and interesting
Thanks so much for reading all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, apparently! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where I could do it and go back to normal logs again !

So very very VERY glad it wasn't where I first saw and looked. My hand was twitching after a recent catch and grab from a cache guardian. Nice neat spot, log clean and dry. TYFTC SL TNLN

We are still having some fun caching around the Cleve area along with ilook4geo. This cache was an easy one to find, the co-ords were good and the log was soon signed to keep the paperwork in order. Thanks go to Tweety2 and Redmond for placing this cache.
Out on the caching hunt again today with goingplaces2 in and around the Cleve area. Thanks go to each of the CO's who contributed caches which made this hunt successful.
Replaced cache container, hopefully this will hold out the water for a bit longer. Must have been wet for a while, it hasn’t rained here this year!

Today davidwazza and I made our way from Whyalla to Port Lincoln as part of a weekend away to clean up as much as we could. Today was filled with some good and bad times, plus a few car issues along the way but all in all a great day out and 105 caches found in total.
Thanks for the cache

This weekend, I joined gridge98 on a trip to Eyre Peninsula, primarily visiting Port Lincoln and its surroundings. We saw its famous marina full of trawlers, and we also ended up visiting Coffin Bay and enjoyed fresh oysters. A nice weekend with weather, and certainly a great vicinity to see.
Today leaving Whyalla, we headed down the Lincoln Highway, passing through Cowell, Cleve, Arno Bay, Port Neill, and Tumby Bay. Just prior to lunch, we also completed the *Cleve Cleaver* geoart trail. A rather long day of geocaching numbers, but the inland and coastal towns were enjoyable to visit, along with the various picturesque beaches along the way.
Not much field days happening today, and in fact, it looks like 2020 has been skipped due to COVID-19 with some signage advertising it for 2021. What a shame. It sounds like it is the area's agricultural show then? Anyway, the cache was found reasonably quickly, with the cache container and logbook in good shape. Thanks Tweety2 and Redmond for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

A planned day trip in the Cleve area concentrating on the cleaver geo art, then some of the others in the area while we still had daylight before heading back to our accomadation, this was one of the extras we stopped to collect, a quiet year for field days this year but the area looks like it would house a huge event

All was very quiet when we arrived at this location early this morning. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Tweety2 and Redmond for the cache.
I’ve been ignoring this one for a while (I always felt too conspicuous). But finally got it with Kwazzi on an evening cache. TFTC
Quite a walk cos we approached from dump point facilityNomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.
We had two cachless days at Cape Hardy, so back with avengness.....Stopped at the EP field days dump point - as you do when you cache with a toilet on wheels. Job done, cache to be found. We approached the log way round, had a long walk to GZ, but found quickly once there. Thanks Tweety2 and Redmond

Travelling Australia since March 2014 it has been a while since in SA but enjoying this visit greatly.
Currently staying in Cleve today we headed out to explore the local area using Geocaching as a guide.
Wherever we found a full or soggy logsheet we replaced it with a new one.

Pulled up here and immediately came across one of those tailless lizards. Mr Beetle stopped to 'hassle' it [not really] while I wandered over to get the cache. It was quickly found but took a nature's tool to get it out of its hiding place. Think we left it a bit easier for the next finder though.
At home in Tassie we have a big Agfest event every year which sounds similar to your EP field day. We usually attend every second year and thoroughly enjoy them although they are extremely tiring.
Thanks.

Day 4 of BarnZy and Cravo’s trip from Perth to Adelaide.
Today we travelled from Elliston on the Eyre Peninsula to Whyalla.
We kicked off relatively early, just before sun up and in some intense fog before starting our journey to Whyalla.
We travelled along the Birdseye Highway for the most part of the day, which was a fitting name as we needed an eagle eye to find some of the caches today.
Caching along the highway was good with a great variety of cache containers found, before heading into Lock, which was a very quaint small town, albeit we had little success finding the caches in town.
We moved along the he Cleve Cleaver series which was a great bunch of relatively quick finds, taking just under 2 minutes per cache as we started to get the rhythm of the caches along these parts. Great small power trail which kept us interested with some nice hiding spots.
Continuing along the highway we caches through Cleve, grabbing a few of the nifty letterbox hybrid hides which were most fun, were trying to collect more letterboxes which makes these caches really valuable.
After leaving Cleve we continued along the highway to Cowell, where we enjoyed a nice hot beef roll from the bakery for lunch before continuing up the Lincoln Highway towards Whyalla.
We arrived in Whyalla a little earlier than planned which was good as we had planned to complete the August series trail by torchlight. Before we completed the August series we eyed off a D5 cache Honeymoon Hilton which was an absolutely brilliant cache at a well staged ground zero and a brilliant hide, thankfully we didn’t have to resort to phoning the CO.
We then turned our attention to the August series and loved the quick finds of well setup containers. I thoroughly enjoyed the series.
We then cached around town and managed to pickup the 5/5 Schoolies Challenge, which we had managed to qualify quite some time ago.
We finished up with a great dinner at the camp kitchen at the caravan park we’re staying at.
Great day out and can’t wait to tackle the other Whyalla power trail tomorow.

Day 4 of the Perth to Adelaide trip where we started in Elliston and ended in Whyalla.
Today was about finding as many caches as possible and starting / warming up to the larger power trails that bought is over here.
We completed the cleve clever series with a find every 2 minutes, and the August series with around 2 finds a minute.
The day started with a slight sleep in as the travell today was considerably less all up after the 4th day 2900km travelled.
During the morning we would of done most of it through thick fog yet again for the rest half hour despite a later start to
Anyway we made more tracks to Cleve, Cowell and many more in between.
The day also included B12 getting his 11000th cache on cache “August 11” and a total find tally of 112 caches.
Tweety2 I found your cache EP Field Days thanks for placing this hide for myself and others to find.
Dunsborough is where it’s all at this year check it out at GC7GXQA October 13th + 14th. Hope to see you all there at WA Goes Big 2018.

Hi there Tweety2.
We found your cache **"EP Field Days"** at 12:19:00 PM today. This cache makes our find count 13906.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip around the local area today. We usually start the day off by nominating a cache some distance away from our camp site and then take a route mainly determined by the next closest cache according to our GPS. Todays plan was an attempt to "clean out" Clever before heading back to camp at Cowell.
We ended up finding 20 & DNFing 0 caches today.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache around two metres from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Found whilst on a fabulous Easter long weekend caching trip with CPwanderer travelling from Adelaide to the Eyre Peninsula.
Today has been filled with much of the same as yesterday - fun, laughter and lots of crazy caching adventures [^] ....as well as flies (that were very friendly and seemed to like riding in the air conditioned car with us), HUGE and hungry ants (ouch!), a large nest of spiky caterpillars, cute little kangaroos and even having a close call with a DEATH ADDER SNAKE - keep in mind I was with CP!!
Thanks for the cache Tweety2 and Redmond

Off on a caching adventure with GoodLook on the Easter long weekend!! We had perfect weather and, for the route we were taking, surprisingly little traffic! Our target was the Cleve Cowell area althouth we started way before this. Our biggest challenge was the lack of anything open, apart from roadhouses, on the Friday and Saturday!!
Quickly located!!

Another great find while in the area on holiday today.

Found by Mary & David, in company with pprass (signed as m & p), at 1335. Stayed at Cowell last night. Today, we made our way across to Cleve to do the local caches, then back to Cowell again. Can imagine hoiw busy this place would be when the Field Days are on. Our thanks to Tweety2.
Found at 1:45 PM GAFF1 in the company of maccamob. We signed the log book as "M&P".
Very quite here today and it was getting a tad chilly. Our car's temperature gauge was saying that the outside temperature was 17°, but we saw the town's gauge say it was 13° - we reckon it was more like 9°
Thanks Tweety2.

Starting out for the drive over to the Qld. Mega for the second time after some repairs to the vehicle caused the first attempt to fail making me lose two and a half days of the trip that was planned.
Unlike last year in the dark I had no trouble finding the cache in the daylight.
Thanks Tweety2 for the cache.

Catching up with late logs.
After six days caching on the Yorke peninsula with Alansee and Micaparamedic we parted company and headed across to the Eyre to try our luck at the power trails over here and as many other local caches as time permitted.
We pulled up and noticed that we had only missed the Field days by only 6 days which vs a shame as we enjoy roaming around them. The care takers have done a fantastic job, you would never have known that they were even there. On the up side with nobody here we were able to locate this cache and add our name to the log something we may not have been able to do if the event was in progress.
Thanks for the cache.

We hit the ground running, scrambling, falling down and getting back up again. A couple of hard days caching to try our best to get the smiling faces. Thanks for all the great caches
What better time to find this cache, than when the field days are on. We found this while walking from the car to the entrance gate. A few muggles around, but they took no notice of what we were up to. Thanks for the hide.
