I parked close by the new bridge on Friday when returning from another caching expedition, and walked down underneath to see what kinds of hides might be possible there. It would be great to have this geocache reestablished. It's quite close to where I work I'd be there searching in a flash!
back online real soon ! the cache needs to replaced with one that wont get washed away.
I came by the area twice during the past week on my way elsewhere, hesitated, and then decided not to 'descend' for this one. Is GZ really dangerous? Any decisions on its future? Despite the log, I notice that the cache still isn't officially marked as 'archived' so it might attract geocachers who don't read the logs. Feedback would be appreciated.
I don't normally read the Log's in case they give too much away.
Well wouldn't a read have saved me tramping through the bush today.
Had good time with my son though.

Checked this cache out last night and then this afternoon, not sure of the condition of the bridge when the cache was last found but it now has debris from a recent flooding wedged all the way to the road level under the bridge. Actually seems a bit dangerous, as in in jeopardy of getting a log or two on the head if you touch anything from under the bridge.
Confirmed, the cache has been washed away and GZ is now dangerous.

I hung around whilst this one was signed. Not brave enough to do the grass way, so made it a bit harder that was needed. Enjoyed it though. Last one of 11 for the day.

Signed log. Area looks very "snaky" but nothing around except a muggle collecting his mail.
Nice spot.

Spotted this one, but had heals on. Will sign the log when I return with better shoes.
great location, was a bit worried about an encounter with a snake but tracked on and found cache.
I wonder where all the water is coming from? It is crystal clear and looked lovely. I stood back amongst the wandering dew and spied the cache. Sent Strike-a-light to retrieve it which was pretty simple really, no wet feet. Thanks for this cache, it's always great to see some of the old bridges and hear the quirky stories
I have absolutely no idea where we went wrong on this one. Perhaps it was trusting the trails over our GPS? Maybe it was wading around in the creek sans shoes and socks then scrambling around on a very slippery rock ledge also sans shoes and socks? It was definately approaching from what is apparently the wrong side. Way too itchy from the sticky plants to keep searching, but I am not beaten!!!! I will return to conquer you!!!! Hopefully the rather large, angry looking, puffed-up water dragon will be elsewhere when I do.
Cacheing with Littlebub, thought I would let her tackle this one. We got down to the creek and saw a huge eel in the water, pulled all the sticky weeds off ourselves, thought about ticks and other crawlies and then Littlebub ripped her shoes off and waded in....She is young, i'm old..er.....Well thats my story and I'm sticking to it. No luck anyway.lol. Will tackle from a different direction next time.. yeah I may even try it myself!!!
Found 15:40, where else could it be? The stream was flowing and the water was crystal clear. TNLN thanks.
I needed to do some acrobats to get this one. Glad it wasn't raining or it could have been a lot harder.

An easy find, and I didn't even need the GPSr.
A scramble and it was mine, such an obvious hiding place, if you know where to look....
Thanks for the hunt, TNLNSL

sixth cache for the day a great hide great cache geo dog enjoyed this one. Had to think about this for a few minutes but then it came into view. A great cache in a good spot Took the yellow yurbie and left a keyring from Noumea TFTCSL
Hmmm, coming from the east. I can't get there. Oh good, there is a roundabout a few hundred metres up the road for a U turn. Once in the right spot it was pretty quickly found, then just had to do the acrobatics to retrieve. All good. I bet this would have been a noisier spot before the new bridge. Thanks.
Cache 2 of 23 for the day. Ah the old bridge, I remember it well. Couldn't see it at all but when our eyes became accustomed well there it was. Took Gimli TB, left highlighter pen shaped like a syringe. Thanks!
found at 13:20. great hide. Found within 5 mins I have driven over this bridge many times in my past. The area has changed a lot over the years.

The road is a lttle quiet now the traffic has a new road to travel on. Quite a large cache, but is nice and dry. Took a little while to locate, that is if you are looking in the right direction. SL TN Left TB and Coin.

I had found this one with Smurfyguy but didn't sign the log at the time. Decided to go back and rectify this. Quite a slippery find and hard to see as it was getting dark. Luckily we already knew where it was. TN but left winner medal. This was a great location. TFTC.

Again in company with Calypso62 & Smurfguy, did this one in late afternoon. After finding GZ, found that it is a good idea to have a few tools (say a torch) with you when caching. Somewhat out of the way but still accessible. TN LN SL

found this one on a 2nd attempt. 1st was late at night with no torch so made the smart decision to forget it at that time.
Temporarly had a Travel bug in it, but realised the bug needed a higher diffulcity to remove, so retrieved again to move it on.

this one was fun. we had search one side of the bridge before we spotted the calprit on the other side (it was dark!) geodad was attacked by blackberry bush while geomum monkeyed around. thanks for the cache
Now how am I going to get up there? A bit slippery in the wet, but got it ok.

Driving past this cache on an almost daily basis.. it wore me down. It glared at me from the car GPS and I must admit it had me stumped on 2 previous visits.... I was looking too hard.
This time I had my my monkey suit with me. I looked left and looked right and there it was.. d'oh

Was comeing from the wrong direction and had to do extra laps of the roundabouts. Spotted the cache and reterived wiyhout any dramas. Plenty of Bell Birds about.

After being caught out by the road closure I managed to negotiate the roundabouts and get to the cache. I went over to the dark side but then spotted the cache and came back to nab it. TFTC!
This was a quick find as a muggler left. A LOT of bell birds were out today! they sounded great. TFTC SL
A bit of fun searching for this one. Although it was raining, it wasn't enough to cause any issues. The only thing I had to be aware of was my slippery shoes. Searched on one side, but of course it was on the other. Logged the cache while in situ. Fun one - cheers Feral Five.
New years day and in the Hill’s
Lot’s of Caches and thrill’s
Friends and family, a BBQ
And the weathers warm too
A lazy drive home we found this
Too close to give it a miss
Cache found without much work
Must say – this is where spiders lurk
Glad I brought my tall hubby along for this one! Nice spot with the stream flowing nicely and the bell birds singing in the trees. TNLN. Thanks
Located it fairly quickly. The creek was flowly with nice fresh clean looking water after the recent heavy rains. TNLNSL. TFTC.
Quick find. But hey, what can I say, I'm 6'4 and spotted it on the walk in and with a little bit of logic.

15.10.... After 2 or 3 attempts so at last sevabo and I found it.... Lucky I can climbing so I retrieved it. I agreed what sevabo mentioned that it was impossible for who cant climb to retrieve any cache like this.TFTH SL
After 3rd attempt and finally found - no wondering - I couldnt retrieve without help and very lucky to have active geofriend who did it. thanks for organised the hunt...
a big 3km walk brought me to the 'rickety bridge' as we called it. thanks found quite quickly
found this one in seconds...good cache though... i just got lucky...took the coin and left a TB
In the dark of night we came, the funny thing is that this bridge is in better condition then alot of bridges out our way. Enjoyed climbing around the timber work which always make you feel like a kid again.

I loved it, it was pretty adventurous for me looking through the bush falling in the water on the hot day getting attacked by frill neck lizards and getting stung by 2 bees, it hurt but it was fun to find
The new bridge is obviously much better for cars. The old one is much better for putting geocaches around though! Thanks for putting one there.
2:44pm
Interesting old bridge, Garmin still thinks this is the bridge you are supposed to drive over. Dropped a coin in here.
Cheers

With all the rain yesterday we stayed indoors as you would be insane to go outside in that weather. We spent the day baking as a result we had 100 cup cakes and decided we would celebrate every cache find with a cake each. Must have been some flooding as the bridge was closed but the cache was safe and dry. Soon we where enjoying a cup cake with yellow icing and green and blue sprinkles.
Very nice spot ... and a great hide. Looked in all the wrong spots until it jumped out at me. Soon had the find and the paper work done.
Thanks

It would take a bit more rain before this one was washed away.
We can keep our heads high with the knowledge that we found it.
Took Rurik's cube, left a pen sharpener.
BTW, the cache is more Regular than Small in size.

We (Cannonbolt, Ben10,000 and I) spent about 1/2 hour searching high and low for this one, but didn't find it. We wondered whether it has been washed away. We would like to return if it is still there. We did find a bucket full of bones though!
I really enjoyed this one. I’m glad that they have left the old bridge here as it’s a cool place to hide a Cache. No trouble locating the goods as it just the place I would have put it. That's the 600th Cache for the Wandering Wilkos, now onto 700.

Hard to believe that this little bridge was the only way through. It's made all the more amazing when you see the size of its replacement. Well placed cache - only saw it when I was almost upon it.
I was out this way today grabbing a few caches in the area and thought I'd have a go at this new one.
It certainly brought back some memories coming here, I use to use this old bridge nearly every day for work. I've seen the flood water cover this entire bridge. Hope that doesnt happen soon as the cache wont last long.
Thanks for bringing me back to relive some history.

Got here just on lunch time expecting someone to have beaten me to the FTF but we got here first. YEAH!!!!!!!!! Cool hide. We used to use this bridge often when visiting friends and rello's over this way, It's a shame they have closed it down but thats progress for you. We were serenaded by bellbirds and spied upon by fairy wrens when doing the log thing. At least the wildlife has reclaimed some of it's turf back. Swapped TB'S and put back in the same spot. I would however dumb down the terrain on this as I think it's only a 3. Anyway Thanks for bringing me here.
BUGGER!!
Must have only been beaten by minutes!
lovely and peaceful today, its amazing how peaceful this area is considering how much traffic used to pass through here
