I got some help from a previous finder as we were curious to see if this puzzle cache was still in place given the circumstances it was archived under! The rest of the caches are now archived, so it is no longer possible to complete, however one of the caches is still in place and I managed to get the numbers from it a few weeks ago! Smile

Well it has almost been 7 whole years since this was archived, that is quite some feat! [:o]
The cache certainly showed it too, we were amazed to find it still resting in it's original hiding spot!

Definitely worse for wear however, the entire container has gotten a couple hours of sunshine for 7 years when the sun is in the correct spot in the sky! And over time the container has decomposed! Half the container managed to stay together however when we picked it up, and it still had lots of swaps in it which were in decent condition! There was also a zip lock bag which had the important contents and some stickers!

I had to **remove** this cache, because of it's bad condition and also because it is no longer solvable.

Thanks zoratz, your cache won't be forgotten, but it was good to see it still out there !

I hate to do this, but it looks like this cache is currently unsolvable. Four of the series have been lost and archived, and of the three remaining, it seems that only one has the clue intact. The cache owner hasn't logged on for 7 months, and so it's unlikely that the necessary clues will be reinstated. Time to go Sad

A nice cache. TFTC.

Found after some help from a previous finder.

Clues in some of the caches in the seires need to be added.

Leif, Barda and the dog have spent the afternoon in pursuit of the gems and clues to defeat the Shadow Lord.

We've collected four of the six coordinates, with the first South coordinate and last East coordinate still missing. The East coordinate is not a problem, as we can widen our search area. The first South coordinate may present a problem. But at the very least, trial and error should reveal the final location...

Put in the first trial number and drove there. Hmmm, not likely, and beyond this we're hitting houses in a different suburb. Probably not likely. Let's start at the other end of the spectrum and try our luck.

We entered our second trial coordinates and arrived at GZ, conducted a wide search .... no luck. We're in the wrong place, or it's well hidden, or we've simply failed in our quest to defeat the Shadow Lord.

Third trial coordinates, and the area looks no more promising than the last. Still, we conduct a wide search for the final cache. Nothing.

Fourth trial coordinates - if it's not here, then the fifth set of coordinates and beyond will have us in traffic or houses, so this is really our last chance. Either we find it here, or we've failed our quest. Approaching ground zero, there is a promising sight. And after a quick search.... SUCCESS!! The final cache is in hand, and the Shadow Lord defeated. In spite of two missing clues, we have overcome!

A big thanks to zoratz for a really well thought out and constructed series of caches. Some fantastic hides, and heaps of fun was had by myself and the kids. So the ACT Deltora Quest Series can still be completed, and as we did, can be done in a single afternoon.

As Leif, Barda, Jasmine and that dog thing return to Deltora, They see the place in ruins. Houses destroyed, dogs barking ferociously and children lost from their familes, Leif and co. are now determined to defeat the shadow lord! As they walk to GZ, Leif looks for the shadow lord, They are sure they had got the co-ordinates even without one of the gems. As soon as Leif decides to try again for the 7th and final gem, The shadow lord comes out to play! A huge battle is started between Leif and the shadow lord. CLING!! CLANG!!! Go their swords as they fight and make big emotion-filled speeches at each other. The shadow Lord strikes at Jasmine. SLICE! Leif thinks that he has not done good enough, and Jasmine agrees. As they are fighting Leifs' sword is knocked out of his hand! He is about to be slayed by the Shadow Lord!!!!! At once he pulls his Swiss army Knife out of his pocket and stabs the shadow lords eye out! The shadow lord falls in pain as Leif finishes him off. At last, the Puzzle cache has been Vanquished and this story will be re-told generation through generation! The day Jezza10, Injuryman and Dark Mad Viking have found and defeated ACT Deltora: Return to Del as a terrific Grab! TFTC!

At last!!! CazBol prodded me to go find this one as we had both completed all the other Deltora caches. We were missing one clue, but were able to work around it. A nice walk to GZ and the cache was at hand.

Thanks Zoratz, for a great series of caches - must go reread the books again.

Found it with Everlasting and Varuna.
Thanks for this fun game.

Yep found the cache - lovely bushland... With alchemy2 and varuna. No swap. SL. Thanks zoratz.

Found with Everlasting and Alchemy2. Thanks for the cache.

12-Mar-10
Yay, we were able to cross this off our list after carrying around the other co-ords for a year.
Found with Hoojar.
Cheers. Smile

Chip and I started our quest on our trip to Canberra last year. We can now say that we have finished it. We somehow misplaced one small clue, but that would have only made a 10m or so difference, so we made a rough estimation of GZ and walked straight to the cache! What fun this was Smile

Cheers

05-Jan-10
I started the quest a long time ago but this evening I completed it as darkness fell.

03-Jan-10
took hile but finally found it with a lot of help from some previous finders. several of the clues were missing along the way but got there in the end. the geokiddies enjoyed the parks.

03-Jan-10
Well the ACT Deltora quest series could have been a total bust had I not already known where the GZ of the final puzzle was. I accompanied Mr Roo here when he logged it but did not logs the cache until today. With the final link in the chain (and some others) broken I felt logging the cache without it was fine. Cache was exactly where I remembered it was and finally the geokids were rewarded with some swaps. SL and headed home for dinner. Thanks Zoratz for this series, although there is some work to return it to full glory.

Last for the day after saying our byes to mtrax. On our way back to the car I said to Norkmeister I have this gz that I have had for a while now. So I put them in the gps and saw it wasnt to far away. Got back to the car and a little drive to gz. We then walked a little distance to gz where we checked the wrong place at first. Until I looked at the gps again and said Im 10 meters out. Walked to the hiding place and made a easy find after that TFTC. I finally got it

Nice quick find on the way to work this morning.

Should have had this some time ago, but when visiting one of the other caches, I forgot to write down the clue. Revisited that one last week and had a chance this morning to collect the final cache.

Thanks for the cache AND the series!

27-Apr-09
Had found the rest of this series a few months ago on a day when someone actually asked me if they could go caching with me. Was hoping to take more company for the final find but was unable to. Nice wander however and managed to find the correct path through the fences. TFTC.

24-Mar-09
My quest is complete. And mostly with my baby boy offsider in tow. (mostly carryed). This series has taken me to several places around my home range that I would never have ventured to without caching.

I was a bit unsure about the last location and even more reluctant to take my little boy over the barb wire fence, but it all payed off with the find.

Thanks for the fun

Dropped by a coin for a visit.

20-Feb-09
265 Today was my chance to do this series having set them aside some time ago. Now for the big test. One clue was giving trouble and I had to return to find I had read it upside down! Now with all the numbers off to GZ for a quick find and end of the series. A nice fun outing and some interesting spots. TFTC

16-Feb-09
Gathered the clues and headed to the final. We wandered around a bit before deciding which approach we wanted to use. Thanks for the fun series!

16-Feb-09
Yippie, got the final done with only one fence crossing. Many thanks.

12-Feb-09
Hmm, found this with sw2092, but I must've failed to log it online at the time.

12-Feb-09
Found at 18:25 with frogdude.

We were finally able to complete this series after the 'Lake of Tears' was restored. Examined a couple of approaches before taking the easier option and deciding not to straddle the fence. It was then a pleasant stroll in the drizzle watching the world speed by.

Easy find once at GZ.

T: Wellensittich (Budgerigar) TB (no sign of the SurfinSafari TB though Sad)
L: Nil

Thanks for a fun series, zoratz Big Grin

Finally completed this series and still have no idea what it’s all about.

31-Jan-09
After grabbing the other seven of the Deltora caches today we headed out to make this number eight. We approached from the shorter side and Ju headed out for her first solo find (cos I didn't want to climb the fence).

Ju made a very quick find and brought the cache back for me to undertake the duties in the air-conditioned comfort of the car.

Ju and So made their swaps however there was not sign of the TB in the cache (at least we didn't see it in there) so we dropped one off.

Ju then returned the cache and worked out she could fit through the fence instead of having to go over it.

Oops - found this by accident - saw it on dad's GPS as we were in the area (dad got the coord wrong for a multi) and I went after this one - didn't realise it was a puzzle until we researched it. Will now have to do all the Deltora Quest traditionals (great book/series). TNLN, TFTC

18-Jan-09
Robmc and I completed the Deltora challenge here. I have done a number of caches in the Adelaide series so it was nice to finish this series here in Canberra too.
Typically for Canberaa there was a barbed wire fence to negotiate but once overcome the cache was soon in our hands.
Thanks zoratz for the caches. I have had my beady eye on them since they were released.

18-Jan-09
With a full set of clues, we plotted the final, only to find it a distance from any roads. Luckily, as we approached we found someone had been doing some building since our map was drawn. Over only one barbed wire fence (standard for a Canberra cache), and a short walk had us at GZ. Quest finished.
Thanks for a great series, Robmc.

Out with Gwennie 1984 doing the Deltora Quest and we could not find the last clue. Decided to take a chance and try anyway with the two GPS at the extreme edge of possibilities. Found the cache and traded a few bugs.

#166

We were missing a clue, but luckily it was one that was easy enough to work around. Using our two GPSr's we each started at an extreme of what the coord could be and searched our way to the centre point. Turns out Magpyre's GPSr was closer to the cache than mine.

A nice find. Took two TBs and left one.

I didn't have all of the clues but enough to get me to the general local. After bout 15 mins or so the cache was in hand. Thanks Zorats for this weekends caching adventures in Weston Creek. ZZ7

Thanks zoratz for the cache.

A nice simple puzzle cache for a change, only needed to find all the others first which Marcus and I ploughed through.

Left 2x TBs

07-Nov-08
Actually logged the wrong TBs into this one, logging the right one into it now.

06-Nov-08
Found at 1540. After collecting all the preliminary caches, we took a slight detour to go and grab the final cache. A nicely worked series and enjoyed the short walk to GZ.

Well done Zoratz.

04-Nov-08
We tried to enter near the Firies and the Church and in the end decided on the BMX option. A medium stroll straight to the cache

04-Nov-08
After much discussion about which angle to tackle the final cache from (and more importantly, where to park for our final approach!), Trainee Diplomat and I set off on a short walk through the grassland. By dodging a kangaroo and a fairly unimpressive dam, TD and I honed in on GZ pretty quickly.

The Deltora Quest is complete!

03-Nov-08
This was great series to do, This one was abit further to walk then the rest and with Wasptor being distracted, it made the walk that much further. All in all this loved these caches, alot of fun, Thankyou!

03-Nov-08
Drove a bit past the entrance... Do I back it up against the flow, or do we just walk back. We went with the walking option. Fraggles had a lucky find of a fake rock on the side of the road. Odd place for a fake rock... I'm sure she'll use it in a cache soon. Thanks for an entertaining afternoon with all the Deltora Quest caches (plus a couple extras of yours). Smile

25-Oct-08
Great end, to a fun set of caches and a puzzle I can solve. Nice spot in the grassland. Thank you for a great series.

21-Oct-08
Normally way too lazy to try to work out Puzzle Caches,
but since the first 7 of these were all nice easy Traditionals that could help me get my statistics up a bit, and since the puzzle itself was so easy, it seemed pointless to not come and grab this last one as well.
So grab it I did, in about a 2 minute dash from car to cache and back to car, on the way to work.
TNLNSL, thanks for a not too hard puzzle.

12-Oct-08
I wasn't intending to do any multis or (ewww) puzzles this morning as I was only looking for traditionals, However having all the clues written on my hand sort of encouraged me to finish it. Straight forward find after walking the well used tracks from the last cache, I even managed to play dog catcher for an escaping pup that just wouldn't come for his owners when he was called. Interesting spot for the final GZ.

07-Oct-08
Completed the other caches in this series two weeks ago with my geoscouts. Gave up waiting for them to solve this one, so went for it on my own today. did not see the listed TB in the cache. Thanks Zoratz for this challengeing exercise; I await further adventures. TNLN

#129: Interesting walk down form our last find in the series. Finally we have captured them all

07-Oct-08
Found with Rubai. We sat at the hast cache for about 10 minutes sorting out our various notes and photos to get some co-ordinates for this. once done we set out through the vast wilderness, over and through what I would say is a unnecessary amount of fences, until we came upon the resting place of the cache, which was found easily. Overall a nicely put together series.

Thanks, Jezzza Xtreme

06-Oct-08
Finally I had the opportunity to "Return to Del". Unfortunately the weather was not too kind today, with blustery showers along the way. I still enjoyed the walk & location, which was much nicer than I had expected. The coords were also pretty accurate for me. A great end to an interesting series. Thank zoratz.
T: pathtag L: golf ball - I did not see the TB in the cache, but I could have missed it given the conditions.

04-Oct-08
Final find of the series. A nice little wander around the southern suburbs. Thanks zoratz.

24-Sep-08
Well an interesting evening searching for this one I can tell you. I notice the clues have now been sorted however having already been to many of the series I didn't fancy a repeat visit and so pushed on as others had before me.

So off I headed out to the GZ area this evening with a couple of options for the final resting place based on a puzzle that didn't quite make sense. After eliminating the first rather quickly I found myself in an area that looked like it may be right, and the fresh evidence of cacher trails in the grass gave me confidence I was in the right area. After looking for a good 20 minutes or so and in failing light, I started to doubt whether I was right and so I made a quick phone home to Mrs Frentzen to look up the hint which gave me a bit more of a clue.

After searching in several areas within a reasonable radius of where the GPS zeroed I came up empty handed and so I broadened my search to any location within eyesight that fit the bill. Just as I was about to call it quits and at 51m!!! from where my GPS zeroed I came up with the goods. Took cache-aid geocoin LNSL.

Good to get this one over and for those who have the corrected clues it should be a more enjoyable journey. For those who don't........good luck. TFTC.

assembled the gems in the correct sequence, and located GZ easily

Thanks Zoratz for a fun journey

16-Sep-08
the clues were a bit wrong they are now corected and redy to go

14-Sep-08
Having completed all the preceding caches, we found we were a couple of letters short. Returning to home and trying some guesses on Google Earth was one way of solving the problem - phoning a friend from the field was much quicker!

TNLN, and we didn't see any of the TBs or coins in the cache. TFTC!

14-Sep-08
After completing all the clues with trusty geodog I managed to convince geowife this would be a good place to walk the dog..hehehe.
hmm I started with what I thought was the location and on the way said gee that would be a good place.. bingo.. just as well I went with instinct, although I can't remember if I coded GPS but anyway it was a great way to pass the week doing this 1 or 2 at a time.
We got home just after the rain came down.

oh and Winglen I took a whole bunch of TB and coins.. ALL in fact.

cheers

14-Sep-08
#329 - Collected up all the clues this morning. As one letter was duplicated and another missing, we deduced that there were two probable answers. Entered both into the GPSr and hit jackpot with the first we tried!
We can confirm Mtrax comment - not a TB to be spotted in the cache (although 6 still on listing at this point.)
You have obviously put a lot of effort into this series, and it provided a great morning's entertainment ... thanks Zoratz.
(PS. we also enjoyed the Deltora books).

14-Sep-08
Found @ 2:56pm with Fore!, Shadow! & Huxley the geo-hound.

Finally completed this series in just over 3hrs including a break for lunch. We dealt with all weather conditions - wind, rain and brilliant sunshine!

The doubling up on "H" meant we just entered the two possible sets of co-ords in to 2 different units to find GZ - Fore! went one way & I went the other. I came up trumps to Fore!'s disappointment.

Note: The higher of the two possible options for H = L.

A good-sized cache in a lovely hide.

Took nothing, left pathtag & animal window crawler.

TFTC!

14-Sep-08
Found with alrounder and Shadow! and Huxley was somewhere in the long grass via the dam... humph.. get outta there you silly dog!!!

Yep, there remain some problems with this cache's coordinates - the clues really need to be revisited to make it an accurate experience; so with a little guess work we narrowed it down and headed after the general area.

loved the final hide. No TBs in the cache when we arrived, but one after we were done!

TFTC - you provided a 3 hour adventure for a weird weathered Sunday afternoon. Thanks!

14-Sep-08
Collected the series of caches, guessed at the final coordinates, wandered around in the long grass and came up with a cache in a nice hide. TFTC Fun Big Grin

Dropped off my Cache-Aid coin - this is its first deposit! Hope the next finder enjoys it and writes of their caching injuries!

13-Sep-08
I absolutely love Deltora Quest and these caches were for me! Thank you Zoratz for these absolutely wonderful caches, I really hope you do something like this again.

Thanks for the caches.

13-Sep-08
Thanks very much for these caches. I love Deltora Quest so this was cool. I got to be the photo taker which was also fun.

Well done Zoratz.

Thank you thank you!!!

13-Sep-08
I haven't yet found the GZ but from what I found some clues need fixing..

13-Sep-08
We got a bit confused by the mix up with the clues, but a phone call to McPhan helped to sort out the problem (thanks McPhan). It would be appreciated if the owner could rectify the little problem with the clues. It's very hard to make sense of out in the field.

Anyway, off to GZ we went and soon found the cache. Had fun looking at the TBs, took a photo, then piled in the car to go home and rest in front of a DVD after our busy day restoring order to the kingdom of Deltora.

Thanks Zoratz for an interesting series with a couple of nice hides along the way.

10-Sep-08
592 - Yah !! With all / most of the clues and some advice from the owner I finally got to locate the puzzle GZ. Had a lot of fun running around after these.

And when I got to GZ - heaps of TBs to be discovered !! Cool.

Thanks Zoratz for a fun series of caches - well done !

TNLN - TFTC !!

Cheers....

09-Sep-08
Can someone confirm if all clues are present as I think I'm missing one part, unless there where two clues in one of the caches that I overlooked.

09-Sep-08
1386. Hey mtrax, all the clues are there just too many of one (2) and not enough of another (0). Hopefully the series will be fixed up with correct clues in the lead up caches. Found after work with a couple of sets of numbers to work with. It became obvious where it was once you get near. Felt very exposed and nobody passing would miss noticing someone my size in the middle of a paddock.

After getting all the clues/hints for GZ sorted, today it was off to the GZ for the final in the series.

Parked at a neaby new building, and walked the 200 metres to find the cache sitting snugly in it's well covered hiding spot.

Discovered the TB's and coins and headed off.

Thanks zoratz for the whole series. I had a bit of fun.

MAYBE I should of let the kids run with out a clue but I worked out the co-ords and had a couple of options which were not far apart and with 3 kelpies (kids running in a paddock) we soon had it sorted.

Well done Zoratz we had a lot of fun chasing this one although we have not read the book we loved the theme and might even read the book.

MC KENNA and Kelpies.

After getting all of the numbers sorted out last night, or so I thought, I decided to grab this cache during my lunch break.

At the GZ I ended up hunting around for a bit, looking here, and looking there, when SecretSquirrel-BJC turned up armed with a couple of slightly different numbers to me.
If he hadn’t turned up I might have been searching a lot longer than we did.

I plugged his numbers into the GPS and off we wondered in the direction of the cache.
He spotted the cache first.

We both signed the log and I logged in a coin.

Took Nothing

It was nice to bump into SS-BJC out in the field again.

Thanks Zoratz, this has been a great multi - and I am quite fond of two of the traditionals along the way. Great big cache in a nice hide here.

You certainly were ambitious - a huge undertaking. And it was unfortunate that there were some teething problems - glad that they have been fixed.

Last night you sent out two clue corrections for H. The second one should have been for L instead. So all is well now.

Sigh, I am just sad I missed the FTF - but them's the breaks.

Discovered 3 TBs not yet logged in

Retrieved geomum's compass rose coin which came via Darwin and Tate_alec. Talking of whom, it was good to catch up in the wild again.

What a saga!
With the info received last night, huh, one letter had two values, never mind, on the way to work this morning, I checked again a few key caches for the letters concerned. No change.
So, I had two of the same letter with two different numeric values, and I was clearly missing one letter despite having visited all caches. I looked and had quite a few thoughts and narrowed it down to a small area. So off I toodled - hey, that was back towards home, oh well, a small detour, and after a bit of wandering for only a few minutes - cache found. AHHHH - I see the missing letter and problem.

Grabbed a few Geocoins before the Squirrel got them, signed log then off to work.

Thanks Zoratz for the tours of the suburbs with a few really nice locations, one especially. Two mornings of Cooeeeeee, thanks.

02-Sep-08
Even with not finding "Shifting Sands" because of its wrong coords, I had enough info to get to a very small area for a good search.
Firstly - this is just a bit close to the Parkway!!!!
Secondly - Cache is ***NOT*** in the vicinity. At all!

Finally, I think the formula is wrong and/or the letters are mixed up.

Hey Zoratz - Enjoyed the ride around in the early morning - on the way to work.

02-Sep-08
I have to agree with SS and mtbikeroz.
With the final number in hand, I headed off to the location right next to the parkway and there is nowhere a cache can be hiding.

Heading back home I saw quite a few likely locations, but they are more that a couple of hundred metres away.

Please fix it.

Chooo ooo *FTF* - in fact 5 out of 8 First to Finds in the series!!! Can’t complain about that!
Wasn’t going to continue this series until the weekend, especially once I saw some of the problems some cachers were having! However, after some corrections were posted, and the final cache in the series was still up for grabs, I just couldn’t resist – especially seeing it was so close to home! Found the last 3 I needed and collected the hints, and started putting them together! Hmmm, I seem to be missing a letter altogether – where did I go wrong! Then, I decided to guess what I must have done, and tried for the final location! I wasn’t confident. In fact, I still don’t know how I found it! When I now look at the coordinates of where I found it, it doesn’t seem to match what I had solved at all! Never the less, the cache was there, just where I looked! Nicely hidden – couldn’t have done better myself. Wonderfully stocked too! Thanks for the excitement of the chase for this series zoratz! I now know Fisher that much better! Took a coin.

DNF

Well even though Shifting Sands was DNFed, I thought I would still keep going and see what happened. Got some good numbers - tight enough to give it a good search. I couldn't find anything that matched the clue. Hopefully I am just cache blind - I have emailed the owner. I spent a LOT of time at Shifting Sands (good name) so I just gave up. I should have tried swapping two letters. One of which was a bit cut off, and the other which looks similar and I hope I don't wish I had had my reading glasses on.

It was a good multi with some good traditionals and fun along the way. It will be even better when I can claim a find. This is the chance that you take on an FTF hunt!! Big Grin
