I was in fact there!
Was at GZ from 6.40 until 7.35pm whereupon I went inside to the mercure lobby bar. Waited until just before 8pm before retiring to my room to watch the big match. Wandered from the front bar to the main lobby before that and would have been obvious in an All Blacks jersey and a grey jacket replete with a obvious and conspicuous Maori motif. Enjoyed the result too, but a nail-biter. Will be back in Cairns on the 21,22 and 23 but limited email access.

Was 10 minutes early at the posted coordinates, but as I was holidaying from Taree, NSW - with minimal internet access, was not able to keep track of where we were supposed to meet up. Luckily had contacted 'searchwise015' re one of his caches that I'd had trouble with in March, and a return phone call lead me to meet up with him at least and a muggle mate - Matt. The coords were nowhere near the Mercure, and the GPSmap 60CSx showed the Mercure a lot closer than it really was (it wasn't at 217 the Esplanade, just a construction site).
So after finding the Mercure, and noone around looking for anybody else, we decided to head into town for some drinks /eats and tale swapping.
Walked the kilometer back to town, then Mrs C rang my mobile saying that she had just dropped boiling pasta down her leg - and needed to go hospital from Yorkeys to be treated.
At least I got to this cache!! (Not like the Brisbane cache Oct '07 when the family came down with vomits and diarrhoea while staying at Binnaburra)

1850 - 2000 Met up with David West and his muggle mate.
had brought along a few TB's for swapping, and especially Ikey TB that wanted to go to New Guinea, but no sign of coordinator.
So brought through: Ikey (missed out on a ride to New Guinea), Sir Cache-a-lot, Mighty Red Magical Medallion TB's and Baa and Oink geocoins.
Grabbed from Searchwise015: the virgin Raffles Rules, his Forever Scotland, and Silver Fern travel bugs.

Met up with Grahame Cookie at the GZ, but no TreMichLan. Walked to Mercure on the Esplanade, but no TreMichLan. Watched the Wallabies get thumped by the All Blacks, but no TreMichLan. Give me a ring on 0416219032 before you leave Oz and we will swap. TB's for the Cup. Dave
As I attended the GZ and swapped TB's with Grahame Cookie I have decided to take the credit for the cache. Although I was going for the losing team it was a great match.
Oh and BTW, meeting point is near the GZ--lobby of the Mercure on the Esplanade...cool.
Am coming up for 10 days in the sun - hopefully. And heading south of the border again on the Sunday, so, will be able to come along. When Mrs C comes home from Melbourne I'll confirm whether she is coming also. Thanx
How could I miss an evening of Rugby Worship, Mrs Searchwise015 on the other hand has to wash her hair. Will be there with bells on.
Love to attend but we will be at the game with Green and Gold on, my brother might attend i will pass the message on.
Wow, Short Notice for this event.
Unfortunately we will not be able to attend. Prior commitments. Good luck on the Rugby.Go the Wallabies!
Cheers.
