Find # 8,522 for me on 20 Mar 2024 at 5:21pm. This cache was found on our Canberra Mega adventure. After leaving Melbourne with PamJ in our little caravan, the plan is to stay a couple of nights at Bemm River, then a few more at Pambula before cruising into Canberra. This cache was found as part of this journey. Lovely walk and the memorial is beautifully situated. The cache was found without too much effort but the log book was really wet. Sistemas just aren't waterproof in locations like this. Giving it a fav. Thanks djcache, for giving back to the game. *Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
This is a typical example of a beautiful location and walk I would not have experienced if not for the geocache here. Found by gmj3191 as we explored the region on our way to the Canberra mega.
Found It!A nice little walk to a nice spot for a memorial. It took a bit of searching but eventually I found the right crevice with the cache in it.TFTC
With the rain keeping us away from the beaches we opted for a rainforest walk today. This was a beautiful trek and a recollection of our good friend Sam Gamgee who was here 13 years ago. Our initial search was overcomplicated and when we thought a little more literally with the terrain we came up with the goods. It was only when we got back to the car we realised we had an extra traveller of the leech variety which gave one of the bunnies a bit of a surprise. TFTC and location.
Finally finishing the last few caches in the lakes entrance area on Australia Day 2023. Nice easy find after a walk down a well maintained trail tftc
Found it, I went looking for it with my partner found it easily was my first time ever doing geocache was fun
The work year has finished, so it’s time to head off on another road trip - to explore ‘The Pointy End’.
DAY TWO: Jarrahmond to Mallacoota.
Lovely stroll to gz to find a cache. Another case of “wouldn’t have known about this location had it not been for geocaching”
Thanks for bringing us here today by placing this cache, djcache

Day 2 of the Bring In The New Year (BITNY) road-trip. After camping in at woods point for the evening it’s a day of UBD and LGA smashing. Finally time to tick off the south east of Victoria with a journey out to Mallacoota and surrounds.
Siri was a little confused on our way here and took us straight past the turn off and was suggesting an odd path. When we turned around and entered the track Siri suggested it would take 30mins to complete the 1.5kms, reducing by a minute every couple of seconds .
It was a nice evening stroll down to this cache and after a little search we had the log book in hand. I almost missed this one!
Thanks djcache for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

Heading south today, from Tomakin, destination Bairnsdale and yes we had our Victorian border entry permits on board, but they were not needed.
A short detour from the highway, an interesting walk and we soon reached the intriguing memorial. A golden oldie in more ways than one - a cache on the board for 12 years in recognition of a dedicated forester. Earns a FP.
Thanks djcache for placing such an interesting cache on the gameboard.

Have driven past on the Hwy many times and today had the time to come in and go for a walk. This is a lovely area. Thanks for bringing us in here.
Found at 4.00pm. What a lovely spot. So peaceful. A great memorial. Staying in the area for a few days. TNLN Thanks K&M
We've had this one on our radar for quite a while, so while we were near Cape Conran this morning with some spare time on our hands, we made the drive up to take the walk to the memorial.
Well work the walk in here and thanks DJ for the placement here. Loved the memorial and a fairly easy walk. A favourite for your work with this cache placement.

Today we explored Orbost and surrounds using geocaching as a guide and picking up a few caches on the way and this was one of them. An easy find, a nice place to visit.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

While travelling to a friend's birthday party in East Gippsland, I picked up some caches. I really enjoyed this one. What a beautiful spot. tftc.
I did visit; left the Princess Highway to drive up the dirt road and walk a bit. Looked at all possible places where I'd hide it, but didn't see anything. Tried to think smart, "Please don't trample the vegetation looking for the cache as it isn't necessary" the description says, but today I wasn't in luck. Beautiful place, though!
TaurusSix and I went for a nice walk. The steam looked great but was occupied by other visitors. The cache was found quite quickly.
WOW a hide in a jem of a place
Well maintain walk down to a nice spot to be on a hot day.
Thank you for the hide djcache

We are staying at the Orbost caravan park and we headed off to find a few caches. This was one we targetted and found. A lovely walk to gz. Thanks to djcache.
Great walk took some finding maybe my gps out it said I was13 mts away when found took ball replaced with keyring TFTC
Former work colleague. Nothing else to say here. His research?????
Cache was a nice walk in that didn't take too long. Not happy about spending close to 2 hours trying to find my way in. Signs missing and local knowledge got confused not having spent much time around here in the last decade.

This was one of those "quick jaunt off the highway" caches that, in my foolishness to get done quickly, I made much harder than it should have been.
The first mistake was to think that my Samsung Galaxy would do the job of locating the cache, rather than the ever faithful Magellan. The second mistake was wearing thongs, which wouldn't have been a mistake if I'd taken the Magellan in the first place and not been led scrambling over rocks for half an hour!
The spot was beautiful. A great place for a memorial and nice spot for a rest. There wasn't much flow to the creek which was good, because the Samsung was pointing 20m on the other side of the creek. I took it easy navigating the rocks (thongs) and soon realised I was being led astray by the stupid phone. A low terrain rating usually doesn't lead you up a solid granite boulder.
I stopped to re-evaluate after nearly stepping on a basking East Gippsland Water Dragon, and having had them attack my boots twice already in the last 48hrs, I thought I'd leave him alone (the thongs again).
Ditched the phone and decide to look in all the obvious places, made the find, and learnt my lesson.

This was further off the highway than I had been looking at on my Great Southern Road Trip, but I am rarely disappointed by non-urban caches, and this was no exception. The drive in was no problem in the box on wheels, and the walk was pleasant. It was cooler at GZ, and the sound of the water over the rocks was very calming. I could have stayed for hours, except I was travelling to a deadline. I would like to think my friends and family would honour me in some sort of fashion, but this was exceptional. Thanks djcache for bringing me here, and for the cache.

My kind of cache
An interesting and peaceful spot out of the way.
Had fun walking on and scrambling over the fallen trees and was rewarded with the wonderful memorial by the babbling stream.
This to me is why I cache.
Thanks dj, I am glad I made the detour

We were so pleased we decided to make this detour. A lot of trees down over the walk but nothing we couldn't negotiate. We love these sort of caches finding magic spots (the rainforest and the creek were so pretty) and the memorial was surprising, what a tribute. This one gets a favorite from us thanks djcache.
On day twelve of our excursion out of Tasmania touring from Melbourne to Canberra and return via Gippsland we left Yass early in the morning, travelled through the ACT and south-eastern New South Wales and arrived at Lakes Entrance as the sun set. Although we had found many caches along the route on our way north, we left a few for the return journey. It was heavily overcast when we left Yass but the weather improved steadily and from lunch time onwards, we enjoyed clear blue skies.
We were uncertain whether or not to take a hire car into this cache but we are so glad we did. There is a good gravel road, although we had to shift some small branches and large twigs off on a couple of occasions. After about 2km we were reassured when we found a named parking area and a sign pointing us to the start of the track. It was a lovely walk into GZ - the wet bush had a lovely smell. When we got to GZ we found a plaque and an interesting memorial. After reading the plaque we looked for the cache and found it within a minute. We then spent a few minutes taking a closer look at the area. The heavily tannined water in the creek was being forced through a narrow gap in the rocks. This turbulence resulted in a massive amount of foam being created and it was gathering in the calmer areas downstream. We then walked out but we both felt some familiar and unwelcome - we had each picked up a couple of leeches but as they had yet to attach themselves, they were easily evicted. Thanks for bringing us to this lovely spot djcache and thanks for the cache.

It is really nice to see such a memorial. Hopefully his colleagues, family and friends won't let this be forgotten in the mists of time.
We thoroughly enjoyed the stroll along the path, especially the canopied arch of tree ferns.
Definitely the favourite of the day.

T & S & Little DragonFoot & Pink Princess found at lunchtime. Nice cool walk on a muggy day. Being locals, we know the history of the walk and why it's to remember a special person rather than a well-known Victorian. It was the middle of summer so crusty rather than slippery and ideal conditions for this cache. Despite being dry, the cache was damp. Watch out for the jumping water dragon on the falls bridge. Tftc
Found at 11:28:05 AM GAFF2. We were concerned as to whether we could take our van right upto the car park - and turn it around! We got to the car park and we found we could reverse into it and be ready to take off after the "big" walk.
Still not totally sure what Geary was famous for - saw some thinning of the bush on the approach to this area, but is that a revelation in itself? There must be a lot more to it we feel.
Walking down the track there was a damp smell in the air and a kind of "Mortiene" aroma - rotten, damp eucalypt? Actually this gully reminded us of that Lichfield spring that we tried to squeeze into and have a dip - do you remember that one?
There is a lot of slippery undergrowth around GZ and p-pprass slipped on a log that wasn't set into the ground as it appeared to be.
Thanks djcache

About 200 metres before the carpark, the road was blocked by a large fallen tree. Fortunately, I read the cache notes which indicated that there was a track to the cache. Otherwise, I probably would have gone bush straight to it.
It's an enjoyable walk, and the area around GZ is just great. Found the cache without too much trouble, but had to quickly retreat once logged to avoid all the mozzies. Thanks for showing me this great spot, and for the cache.

Used Tom Tom to try and find the way in, wanted to take me down Newtons track 15km from Emphield Track (which Tom said didn't exist). Lovely walk, Heard a lyrebird none sited though. This is great place. Took a while to find, found it eventually. As I said to Geowife if it wasn't for geocaching we would have never found this tranquil place.

This one was recommended by Dinta so dropped in on my way home from Eden today. Used the gps map to find my way in, the forest roads were a little slippery, no dramas in the subaru though. Loved the walk from the car park on a well formed path. Saw a lyrebird and heard several more on the walk. Then the sound of water flowing briskly took over nearer GZ. This monument is in an amazing place with a good flow in the creek, large mossy rocks and the fantastic monument. No mossies about either (it is June!) Took a while to find, there are lots of hidey holes to look in, and the wet conditions made things a little slippery so great care needed. Got it eventually. Thanks to djcache for putting one here, a place I would never have visited if not for geocaching.
found with ikkibrady and geobaby, bit slippery walking on the rocks with a baby in arms but found the cache and it was a nice walk down

Another very impressed me - worth to visit this area so beauty - I agreed with djcache that I could stay there bit longer and smell so fresh and environmental so beauty... No swap SL. Thanks again to djcache
While down in the area for a few days i decided to pick this one up. We too saw the sky go darker and the mozzies descended (not to mention the Leech and large Tick found wandering up our legs) but we managed to push through and with a quick glance on at the hint on the PDA before it was taken by mozzies we managed to find it. I also ended up face to face with an Eastern Water Dragon who was sitting on the rock near GZ. I managed to take a few photo's of him that i will put on shortly. Maybe this is the Forester.

1264 Well, I suppose it is a "car park" and not a place for a Patrol and a camper, but I squeezed in anyway. The walk was pleasant and the find was easy - although I started on the wrong side. TFTC djcache
I didn't know where this one was taking me, I just knew the cache name.
Travelling west along the highway a likely road appeared and I followed it.
A sign pointing the way to a memorial appeared and I turned down that road.
Oh look a car park
This must be the right place
I got to enjoy a peaceful stroll through the forest and wondered what sort of memorial this would be.
Well it's a beauty, nice and simple and fits in well in a wonderfully scenic forest setting [^]
A fitting spot for a tribute to this forester
With the babbling brook and birds providing the sound track I searched around for the cache.
Nothing !!
Another look and this time I found it..... but only just
That's a neat bit of living camo someone has put over the container [^]

A cache sought on an impulse while driving down the highway. No planning involved, didn't read the info - just headed on in. As we approached the coordinates there was a hum like a light plane, the sky went dark and the cloud of mozzies descended. As we gasped desperately for oxygen while sucking air through our teeth to strain it, we searched frantically for the cache. But alas, we ran out of time, and as the world went dark and we started to lose consciousness, I felt myself floating through the air like an alien abductee, in fact I think it was the mosquitos carrying me away to the mother ship......... . . . .
The GPS Signal wasn't very good and I forgot the hint...
Perhaps I will come again, nice place.

Found by Mary & David at 1720. Another memorable dj cache. Having read Crackers' log, we came prepared with industrial strength repellent. As we walked to GZ we were reminded of the forest cycle of decay and rebirth. The path seems overdue for some maintenance, as there were several fallen trees across the track, and another right at GZ which only just missed destroying the sculpture. The path is slowly being reclaimed by ferns and little native violets. As we admired the sculpture and read the plaque, we listened to the silence punctuated only by the bellbirds and the gurgling of the creek and realised that this man's monument is everywhere. Searched for about 15 minutes before finding the cache on the third and most detailed pass just before we were going to give up. Time and Mother Nature had conspired to add considerably more camo to the hiding spot since it was last found. Many thanks to djcache.
We certainly wouldn't right this one off as gone but after arriving at this fantastic location and reading the monument we noticed that our legs were changing color as a gazillion mozzies attacked us. We hunted around for a little while trying to fend them off and then rang dj for assistance but by this time all the ones who had already had a feed told their relatives about the fresh blood in town so after a cursory look we decided to head back to the car and return here a bit earlier in the afternoon with some rid and a camera.
Thanks djcache for showing us this great spot

Initially the GPSr was telling us the cache was on the other side of the creek but a look at the hint after wasting some time and eventually we uncovered the prize. There was also a lizard sunbathing beside the creek that didn't seem to be too bothered about us fumbling around.

This one turned out to be my last cache for the day. I drove in just on dark and took a walk out to the GZ. It took me a while to find but once I peeked at the clue it narrowed it down a bit and just as well as the mozzies didn't take too long to realise I was there...

The first of 3 FTF's today - Whoopee !!!!!! Three in one day is not an easy job in far East Gippsland. Absolutely fabulous spot DJ, such an appropiate memorial to a great man. You could hear the 'quiet'. We were a bit worried in our 2WD but it was a dry day and no trees across the tracks. Forgot camera but used mobile phone camera for first time. Will now try to get pictures off phone to computer.
