#932 Another day in the area and Another Agent Basil cache. After finding a nearby hide, on the return trip to the vehicle I decided to trek a bit further up this way to search for this one to add to the numbers for the day. It was a quick find at GZ and a wonderful view out to the horizon where the sun had just disappeared behind the mountains and trees. Thanks Agent Basil for yet another enjoyable cache and location

Find #4277

Out for a little caching on my four hour window for adventure! Lockdown has bought a totally different approach to caching with the introduction of homework! Much time for homework in fact. Therefore many more puzzles solved, both as a solo and collective effort. Thanks to my fellow geo buddies for assistance when needed.

And in between were a few traditionals, though not nearly as many of them left these days

Logs all in good condition unless otherwise noted.

Thanks to Agent Basil for putting out and maintaining all of these caches for our enjoyment!

Found it just off the path. Great view. Don't be fooled by worn paths.

01-May-21
We found it.

20-Mar-21
With a little diversion off the main fire trail got myself within range of this cache.
Got to say I found myself looking in what I assumed to be the most likely place a couple of times before actually making the find some metres away.
Interesting place for a small bench seat to relax and ponder.
Now off to complete my Red Hill Meander.
Cheers Agent Basil.

I deliberately chose this cache to find today because it had the word first in it's name. I thought it would be neat to start the caching year off that way but alas it wasn't to be. Instead I am forced to log a DNF. Hopefully this is not a portend of my year to come!

09-Oct-20
Tftc! Great view!

07-Sep-20
We headed out for a regular walk to, up, over and around Red hill, taking the GeoPoodle for a good leg stretch, on a perfect sunny sunday afternoon. The views were amazing, with snow on the background, and springtime canberra in the foreground.

We were were on the way back down towards the gold course from the summit, and as we had just walked past the Tardis, I wondered if there were any other caches around which I hadn't found yet.

A quick look, and yep, Basils First Brush, a mere 500 meters away, and almost on the route we were following. So, we just veered slighty off the main trail, looked for a Brush - yep, there it is, and the cache was found almost instantly - fortunately it wasn't as difficult as it could certainly have been.

The log was signed, the cache returned, and we walked on.

Thanks for the cache Agent Basil.

Agent Basil's first cache!? Surprised And my 40th find from you! Razz

Well, I have found quite a lot of Agent Basil's caches in the years I have been doing this hobby, so awesome to get his first one! Certainly not stopping here either, the numbers are still slowly counting up as I tick them off!

Thanks Agent Basil for this traditional cache, a short walk and a quick find after waiting for some other passing muggles having a walk on this fine Sunday morning!

GeoSnag1one was having some surgery so whilst he was resting time to explore and find a cahe. Love, love, love caching. Another great place to walk and explore. With caching it gives me the confidence see where that trail takes me. Definitely coming back here with the good camera.

Having swung around to here and picked up a GCA cache nearby Big Grin, this was on the way back to the car and ended up being a nice quick find at 18:30 to open its account for 2018. Big Grin

TNLNSL, although a couple of our geocoins had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks Agent Basil.

Its not often that I manage to do a lunch time caching expedition and an after but still on the way home from work adventure as well, but today was one of those days. After a somewhat disappointing lunch time run with several DNF's I was hopeful of a better success rate.... and that optimism was dashed!!

This cache was the third find of the afternoon . Had to tip toe around a large mob of roo's with a big dominant male who wasn't going to hop off. Cache quickly found. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache

21-Nov-17
Picking up a few random trades on Red Hill while Mrs Bi Dad was otherwise engaged at Woden. A fairly easy spot, in a fairly easy spot. Coming from Red Hill, but it would have been a long steep approach from the west! TFTC, Agent Basil

Out for an afternoon cache run with Aqulius1, Shadowstorm1 and AddictedGamer. We signed the new and old log. The log was still fine in its plastic bag on the ground nearby. Don’t know ho wit got out of its cache, but at least it is back home again. TFTC!!!

07-Oct-17
A short walk from the car with Shadowstorm1, dty73 and AddictedGamer and cache soon found. A few ziplok bags about so had a look and found the original log under the bushes. Having signed the replacement we also signed the original and both are in the cache container now. Thanks for the cache Agent Basil.

Found with addictedgamer, aquilus1, DTy73.out today doing some caches up on Red hill. TFTC Agent Basil.

There was no log in this one so I left a strip of paper in a ziplock bag - oh, plus a nice little car.

24-Jul-17
I've had a number of puzzles solved on Red Hill for quite a while now however never ventured over to collect them. I had planned for a full day wandering around Red Hill today utilising my RDO however after waking up with a massive migraine this morning, I promptly returned to bed.

I ended up feeling a bit better after lunch so decided to go for a wander, slow but managed a few finds.

After picking up a few puzzles and a multi, I still had a little steam left so went for the short wander over to this one. A nice simple find here, signed and replaced the cache as found.

Thanks for the cache placement Agent Basil

Ok ... So what does someone like me do on their birthday? ... have an appointment with a shrink in Deakin, actually - lol
So ... appointment was in the morning, and they didn't take me away in a straight jacket ... So ... May as well find a couple of Geocaches while I am here ... I found a couple in the suburban streets near where all the hospital/medical places are, then headed a few streets over and parked at the bottom of Red Hill to find a couple more - I ended up finding 5 up there (and not finding 2 - grrrr) and only just (with minutes to spare) made it back home in time for my son and his family to pop over and visit after he finished work - lol
TFTC - Nice spot. I looked in the wrong spot first, of course ... lol
Sat on the seat to have some lunch (if one can call a snack "lunch" - I had not actually packed lunch, just the usual emergency chocolate or whatever I leave in my caching bag, and a banana, which I already ate 2 caches earlier - lol) and ended up taking photos of a huge fly (which are still on my phone, and I am writing this log on my iPad ... I might add one of the photos to this log later, if I remember to do that Smile

Today marks 5 years since we brought The Woofer home as a tiny puppy. Nothing says "Happy Anniversary" like a 7 hour caching hike on Red Hill! We found 26 caches and The Woofer made some new friends. A successful day - even if we'll all have tired legs tomorrow!

A quick and easy find, and we left some goodies. TFTC Basil!

25-Jun-16
So this is where it all started huh? And what made you move on to those nasty puzzles Razz[?] Although secretly the puzzles are what brought me out here today so... A few people around on the tracks today but I had GZ to myself. Another lovely spot on the hill. Thanks Agent Basil Big Grin

A Canberra Bushwalking Club training walk for the Cbr100Challenge on 4-5Mar16. We did the 25km route. Great to walk in central Canberra on the Canberra Centenary Trail and pass so few houses. Lots of others out walking, running, rowing, paddling and biking. Trip report at http://www.johnevans.id.au/wp/2-january-2016-cbr100-training-25km-route/ . TFTC.

Found 12:57 pm. I had this one on the radar for a little while since I am now working nearby. I was waiting on having the right clothing and today I was mufti. Today also the guys at work said they were going for a walk and I thought it was up the hill but I got away a little after them and started up the reserve trying to figure where they were. A phone call later I discovered they had gone instead to Curtin so I decided I would continue on my journey anyway and locate this cache. When I arrived at GZ I started looking a little around one particular spot but nothing obvious I then read a previous log and decided to check my GPS again and now I was supposed to be elsewhere so over to that location and then very quickly spotted the cache hide. Signed the log right at the bottom on the front side. I would recommend Basil gets out and puts a new log here as this one is full on the front printed side. Some names are on the reverse side.
Thanks for the cache.

F(H)ound it! 5:15pm

I parked up at the look out and walked to GZ, even though I drove I still got a bit of a work out returning to the geo-323. It is very pretty on Red Hill after yesterdays down pour. Yellow everlasting daisies everywhere and a purple flowering legume against the very red mud. This might be my last on the hill for now, at least until I solve a few more puzzles. Thanks for the cache Agent Basil

Had a mini geocaching expedition with Bobl27 the geohound before heading overseas later today. Absolutely fantastic day for being out and about - a perfect Canberra winter's day. Collected three puzzles and a traditional that got in the way!

This was the trad that was on the way to the next puzzle GZ. Did a circle around the wrong object before deciding to place a little more trust in the GPS and making the find. Bobl27 and geohound had a seat on the bench while I did the legals.

Thanks Agent Basil!

Donned the thermals and then swung by this one to nab as my daily after another long day in the lab Big Grin

Parked near the gate and then went for the very brisk stroll in the evening cold and wind to make the thankfully nice, quick find [^]

Great views of the lights at night! Now back to the car to put the heater on full blast! SurprisedBig Grin

Thanks for the hide, Agent Basil Smile

Geospouse was very pleased to have found Basil's first cache as we have a list of his puzzles to find during a brief trip to Canberra. He and Tankengine have provided us with day of entertainment on our trips.

Thankfully we started late today when the frost had left the windscreen - quite a shock for Perth people!

Found today while out for a walk doing the Federal Golf Course Meander. I saw this cache and decided to make a grab for it on my way around. A nice little hide and I managed to stuff a tb I have been carrying around for a while in there. This is my first walk around Red Hill - what a beautiful spot. Thanks for bringing me out here Smile

02-Nov-14
A much better day today after yesterday's aborted attempt where I discovered none of the caches I'd loaded on my GPSR were available once I'd arrived. Thanks Mr Magellan. Anyway .. a much nicer day today and no problems locating the cache. Thanks Basil

06-Oct-14
Found at 1105. After finding the recently published 'Dr Basil I presume? Who?' I decided to indulge in a little time travel of my own and walked down the hill to this one, moving through time and space from the CO's newest cache to his oldest. No problems finding the container, and I sat on the nearby bench to log the find. With my caching duties done I wandered back up the hill to the car and headed home - thanks Agent Basil.

16-Sep-14
I needed cheering up today. I dropped into work this morning to see my mates, and after a full month away, I'm really, really pleased not to have to show my face there (for work - social occasions are OK) for another five months. Today the GeoSchnauzers and I have returned to the scene of our 1000th find - Red Hill, to do a bit of walking and find some caches. We had a good ramble on the hill, and this one is the first find (of two) for today.

It's a great view, and I found more rocks and formations related to the earthcache on top of the hill. The views were also magnificent. Thanks, AB!!

A quick find on my way down Red Hill. I was glad that the walk wasn't straight down or up the hill!! I took the TB that was there. TFTC Agent Basil. Boom boom!
