After 219 finds over 14 years we have decided to archive this and let someone else place a cache in this area.
Can we get a CO check on this one please?
After so many DNF's, I would have thought this would have been checked on as a matter of course.
After so many DNF's, I would have thought this would have been checked on as a matter of course.
We spent some time looking for this cache. If it is still there it sure had us beaten.
That's now three DNFs in a row. I even phoned a fiend, alas her find here was three years ago and she could not remember it. But I did find that part of the fence has recently been replaced, and I found a cable tie loop attached to the chain link fence not attached to anything else. Could these be a reason the cache is not here? Might need a CO visit. Or is my mojo failing me again? Probably the latter. I did find a pile of grass clippings at GZ. I scattered it, and I am fairly sure there was no cache under there.
I'll be back. And in the meantime I'll be watching this...

Was looking for 20 minutes and couldn’t find it. I’ll come back if it’s confirmed there
After hosting an event in Avalon Park today, I went for a bit of a drive afterwards to try for some caches in an area I don't get to visit often.
This was one I visited today. I had the place to myself, and spent about 20 minutes searching around. I felt I had an idea of what I was looking for, but perhaps not as I had to walk away empty handed.
But I'll be back

That took way longer than it should have considering it was literally out in plain view! Haha
What a delightful church. There was no-one here when Talla64 and I arrived and we searched unhindered. We were just about to give up when I turned round and there it was. A good start to our day. Just as we replaced the cache a muggle arrived to look at the graves. Whew, that was a close call. Thank you for the clever hide.
This one took some finding, Flowerydaze and I were on a caching trip to the Hutt and this was on the list. All quiet here when we started to search and we were about to give up when FD let out that familiar sound and we were on to it. TFTC J'N'K
Nice sneaky urban hide. Will have to do the others now too. Love this church, with such an interesting graveyard. Thanks!
First find on a day out around Taita. Nice hide and gets a fav point from me. Thanks CO for the cache.
Turned out to be my only find of a rather unsuccessful afternoon’s caching. The cache was a little exposed so I replaced it in a way that should keep it safe. TFTC
Didn’t come prepared with any of the suggested TOTT’s but quite often they aren’t needed. Well perhaps I miscalculated. Had a good fossick around, but came up empty handed. Have to return another day, more prepared perhaps.
Found on a cycle ride - Belmont, Taita, Wingate, around to the cemetry, Riverside Drive down to Waiwhetu, across to the River Trail and back to Belmont. A really nice few hours of caching. TFTC
I am yet to go and hunt for this cache but happily surprised that one exists here. My grand mother and Father (V.M Deer and J.A Deer) are the first cremation head stones (church facing) as you enter and their Son, Bruce, who was much like my father although an Uncle is placed in the stone wall to their right.
My parents were married in the Churchs replacement at the Stone Church in Stokes Valley.
I look forward to seeking this Cache out

What a lovely old church - - - and such a peaceful churchyard. Thanks for bringing me here.
# 1623 Have always wanted to stop and check out this historic church. I remember I tried once but was on the wrong side of the track. Today I came from the correct side and enjoyed the sombre wander through the church grounds. It took me a wee bit of wondering where it could be and then I looked at the other side of something and there it was. Nicely hidden cache. Cheers J 'N' K for this one.
I scored some cheap flights to Wellington for the weekend! I had a great time exploring and finding caches!! I spent about an hour in the graveyard running around to find the clues for the other two caches in the dropping temperatures, so it was a relief to have a reasonably quick find here!! TFTC!
Lovely little church and grounds. Easy find and very clever. Well hidden in plain sight. The log was wet, but intact and we could still sign it.
2nd attempt at this one. Area has been tidied up considerably since we last looked, but not sure if it's gone or our geocaching eyes just need adjusting!

In Wellington delivering Zara to my Father-in-law. Extra time to catch up with family and friends included. Today its visiting friends in Stokes Valley but time for a couple of caches first.
Stopped off here to try the multi but not sure if I got the right answers. But then found this one tucked in the corner. Snagged and tagged. Cheers

During a break in proceedings at my sister's wedding, we went for a drive around the Hutt Valley to see what we could see. When I spotted a sign for "Wellington's Oldest Church", I had to get out for a look - and found a cache here too! No pen with me to sign the log though sorry. Thanks!
Cool hide and lovely setting. Never realised the cemetery went so far back. Clue helped, thank you
Arrived from Wellington to Taita by train today. Took my bike. Lovely weather and good excuse to do some geocaching. Nice find but area here is very messy. TFTC
Much looking and then 'bingo'. Reminded me of one in the Wairarapa where the cache is hid in a similar way. Signed as RE -another one solved for the [100, 10, 7 Challenge (Wellington).](https://coord.info/GC5G2PM) TFTC
Out for a weekend of geocaching with Ethnz. I was just about ready to give up on this one when she moved one or two more items and came up with the goods. Signed as RE as I'm caching with Ethnz.
What a great place to bring people to! I look forward to returning and finding the cache.
Exploring around Christ Church in Taita today. Gathered some info on a nearby mystery and multi then made the grab for this one. Quickly spotted. Amazing piece of history for the Wellington region. Thanks for the cache.
Woohoo! Glad to have found this one. Had looked at the spot earlier but tried everywhere else first. I wish I had trusted my instincts! A very very clever hide, thank you very much for taking the time to make this.
Had a half-hearted attempt at dusk 6 months ago and made the acquaintance of a very thorny wild rode bush while searching. Brought some secateurs this time to exact revenge but in the end it turns out we didn't need to have done it.
Great hide - I think last time we looked it was covered by some gardening rubbish, well that's my excuse anyway.
Gets a FP for a great hide in a great location.

Reasonably quick find for this one, was expecting something slightly more 'urban' from the description but didn't have much trouble anyhow with a short hunt. Extremely cool little church place, I never realised that it went back this far and is so pretty. Well worth the visit. TFTC
A very quick find here in the first place I looked. Thanks for this cache and my smilie.
Over six months since the last find. 30 Oct 16 makes it 201 days lonely by my count, so happy to make another lonely cache feel loved again.
All good here - logsheets are wet however as they are waterproof paper they spot you write on just needs a quick dry on the sleeve and then sign. I rolled the sheets so that the current logsheet is on the outer.
Did you know that planning has started for a Mega Event in Wellington in 2018? Check out the details on the [Wellington Event NZ (WENZ) Website](https://sites.google.com/site/wenzgeo2018/home) or visit the event's page on [FaceBook](https://www.facebook.com/groups/590545297801072/).
Thanks to the Cache Owner who has gone to the trouble of creating this cache, determining the coordinates and then averaging them to make sure they are accurate, placing the cache and registering it online for our enjoyment. Without Cache Owners doing their bit, there wouldn't be a fun hobby that we all love - so again a big THANK YOU. For our bit, all we need to do is find and log the cache that was carefully placed for our personal enjoyment. As we log it we should consider that the Cache Owner also needs to maintain it - when the log sheet fills up, they must replace it. When the container becomes full of water, they need to empty it. When the container is broken, they need to repair it. When it goes missing they need to find or replace it. Well..... the great news is we can do our bit too - make sure your log doesn't take an entire page - just a name and date. If full of water, empty and dry the cache as best as possible. Be careful when handling the cache and make sure you replace it where you found it. If it has a bag, seal it. Just remember - the Cache Owner showed respect to you by placing the cache - please respect them and fellow cachers that follow you by being careful with the cache. And if you have a spare log sheet and the cache you are at needs one, please leave it behind. Finally, if the cache does need maintenance, please let the Cache Owner know - you can log a Maintenance Log or you can drop a line to the Cache Owner. Above all - have fun and remember the Geocaching Code.

Nice hide, like others in this series. Log damp and name smudged a bit. TFTC!
My son is playing in a Futsal Tournament at Walter Nash Stadium. In between games I went for a walk to see if I could find this one. Nice.
Cache is a bit wet but otherwise ok.
Thank you

Ventured out in weather to collect a cache while we were in the area. Nice and quiet in the rain, neat little church too - great to learn another piece of Wellington history! Thanks for bringing us here
Found it immediately on a family jaunt. Really clever hide so more luck than anything else!
I thought that was going to be a mission in detective work but I've seen that camo before and it kind of drew attention to itself. I may have spent longer trying to roll up the log than searching for it!
I came here for a Wellywood cache and thought it would be nice to grab a couple of others while out this way. Nicely hidden! TFTC
Seattle's Best made the find.
Great camo. Lovely spot.
TFTC and adding to our Sunday wander.

Nice surprise to find a cache in an historic place! Thanks for the story and history lesson. TFTC!
This cache has been on the to do list for a long time, good to get it off. Found after some hunting. Great cache. TFTC
Had to have a big think about it , my GPS was playing up, and so a bit of guesswork was needed. Beautiful Church and a beautiful day. Thank you
Found it in a combined effort with another keen Geocasher we come across (GPetone)
Very nice hide slightly damp but good to write on
Read the other logs for a clue TFTC 31

Decided not to look too closely while Corrections workers tidying up the graves.
Need to try again sometime.

A midweek jaunt with tmann421 today collecting some local caches.
A quick find thanks to tmann's assistance. Great camoed container.

Nice hide J 'N' K and not at all what I was looking for. Found easy enough though. As mentioned by others, the log is wet but manageable if your pen writes on plastic. Great wee church and cemetery. TFTC!
Spotted immediately. Log is pretty wet and it is difficult material to write on. Luckily the construction workers weren't around when we visited ☺ TFTC
#679. I was driving back south from Stokes Valley and saw this one listed. Ended up on the wrong side of the railway line so had to do a bit of a circuit to find the church. Nice to see Wellington's oldest church. Headed down the back past the gravestones and good coordinates soon had me at the correct spot. I looked and thought to myself " I wonder". Yes indeed, very cryptic but the first spot checked. Sometimes that happens but not often enough! Clever cache. TFTC
Great hide. I would call it a "Nature illusion" Log is very wet needs drying. Tftc

Quick find. Met this kind before.
I like later urban illusions very much, one of my favourite.
don't get it why this one is "urban")))
the log book was damp but managable

Thanks for placing the cache. Very quick find. Nice place to stop for a lunch time stroll on a lovely day.
thanks for bringing me back to this lovely wee church it is great to see these historical places being preserved. my sister got married here many years ago.
Found it but didn't realise it was the cache until a closer second look by another member of the awesome4sumnz.very clever hide TFTC
I was in the area, so I thought I would have another go at this one. At first I couldn't seem to get any GPS signal at all and had to pretty much guess where to search. Then I discovered that I had forgotten to actually switch the GPS function on . It took a while, but made the find eventually. TFTC.
Nice day to be out geocaching with Wafflekitties! thanks for the cache! number 400! yay
#1154 Out and about on an after work cache hunt with Nic-jay to find some more caches up this way. She graciously let me visit some she'd already found while on our way to her cache for the day. What a beautiful church and grounds. A very peaceful evening here bar one train that hurtled past just after finding the cache. Very clever hide. TFTC!
This is my second visit to try to find this. I bought reinforcements though in the form of my son Willietails. This time it did not take locate the cache thankfully! A very clever hide and deserves a favourite point for me for both the location and the container. TFTC These are a real favourite of mine to do.
Lovely little church, all quiet here this Saturday. Nice little hide and a fairly quick find. TFTC
Find #1950. Another day on the bike, cleaning up caches in the Hutt Valley. Now this one I should have been smarter about and spent way too long looking - was expecting something not quite so 'natural'. Lovely spot though - this little church is a gem. Favourite point for the location. SL TFTC
