The low intensity fire in this area of the mountains have still made a significant impact on the area, however the area is starting to show signs of regeneration. A lot of tracks and climbing areas remain closed, but still a great place to visit and see the sights available.

We are staying in the area so we thought we would go check out a few caches that have recently felt the heat. In our surprise this cache was found safe and snug in its little home ready to be found again. We did sign the log however a note that all three were behind orange barricades asking people to stay away with the threat of $1100 fines if found. Any way other than that caches are all good
A glorious spring day to be upon Mt York and to take in the vista. The Garmin induced a rock scramble around down and up and down, but the telltale cache signs were a little aside. No dramas, and log signed at a great location. Thanks stilllookin for a grand cache location.
2:50:00 PM, GAFF5, Found on our way up to Bathurst for the weekend in the company of Grahame Cookie and MVMTBiker.
A short walk down to the cache we soon located the hide.

The geo family and I were out for a day of walking and learning how to geocache, this is a beautiful spot. Sadly we couldn't find this one.
A lovely place, surrounded by beautiful views! We had such a fun day of caching. There are some rather ... interesting.... items in the box! Haha good fun though.

Found with my mum & family on a day out caching. Mum saw the safety fence, and ordered us to stay close to her as we searched for this one

The day was getting late, so we decided to go out to the end of the road and work our way back. We stopped for the trig first, then went on to this one. Had to look in a few spots, before the GPS decided that it would stop jumping around and pointed straight to the right spot.
Back at the parking area we read the new looking info signs. Little MonkeyGirl has been doing a research project on George Evans lately, so she enjoyed reading more about him. It amused me to see that it only took Cox & his gang 6 months to build their road. Just how many years have they spent trying to widen our current road??? Okay, so Cox had plenty of cheap labour and didn't have to worry about workplace health & safety laws, or the environment, but then, these days we have all of those cool earthmoving machines .
Thanks team stillookin

Took 4 muggles with me for their first find, great scramble around rocks! Took travelbug 60yjyw, left mag glass. TFTC
Lot's of scrambling but we got there. My first GZ. Did with walk there. Took travel bug 60YJYW.
This one took us a while to find, but only because we were distracted by the beautiful sunset. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!
We found this cache at the end of the day, with a spectacular sunset to watch while we were searching. The cache proved to be elusive, but we tracked it down in the end.
This was the last of six caches we did along the Mount York Road today. Strangely enough, I've never driven out to Mount York before. There were some workers doing worky things when we arrived, right near the archway that leads down to the cache. We took the Cox's Road path instead and used the path that doubled back to the lookout to get to the cache. Thankfully, there were no workers doing worky things at the lookout, or they might have given me grandmotherly advice about safety fences. (Does this little fence really serve a purpose?) Not a hard find at all, but some great views to be had here. Thanks
#1456- We took the picturesque way around to this one as there were some council workers busy at the arch, but came back that way. in all the years we've lived up here, I have never been here. The monument is quite impressive despite needing a lick of paint. bikerbuddy went to retrieve this one while the boys and I sat and enjoyed the views. And what views they were! Again, like the one nearby, you could see forever. Thanks for bringing us here! That completes my York rd caches and takes me to another mountains location to wrk on. Thanks.
A lovely clifside find at a place I've never been to BC. Tnlnsltftc. Thanks for bringing us here lovely place.
I returned to this wonderful lookout today having found the cache here almost two years ago with my partner, and at the time, we decided to make a wish upon the wishing chair (I actually made two). The first wish came true when our beautiful baby was born, but up until today, she didn't know what it was that I wished for. Today the second wish came true when I proposed to my beautiful girl at the wishing chair...and she said yes...so now this location has become a little more special for us.
Cheers Team Stillookin.

Found right on sunset. Very nice view. Took us some time to locate it. Definitely recommend checking this one out.

Beautiful sunny afternoon, view forever, found with my gorgeous daughter. Took photo of blue tongue lizard to hide case retrieval from near by climbers. TFTC
We were in Mt Vic. to drop of some things for a friend in Mt York Rd. So we thought "why not". We hadn't been out here before, so it was a lovely detour. Pretty quick find after desturbing a local animal nearby. TFTC. TNLNSL
Having a great visit to the Blue Mountains and am enjoying some nice caches that are providing lots of interesting information and veiws of the area. This is what make caching so much fun.
Drove up the end of the road and thought "there HAS to be a cache here." My assumptions were correct.

Camped here last night after a massive day of canyoning in Butterbox Canyon. Woke up and decided to check the GPS for any local caches. Was pleasantly surprised to find 2 roughly 220m in either direction (somehow i managed to pitch my tent almost perfectly in the middle.
Views were great and i had a good read up on some of NSW history.
Upon arriving at GZ had a quick look where the GPS was pointing but no luck, a friend pointed out an object in a pile of sticks. Apon closer inspection it turned out to be an old style aluminum an (ie the ones without the lift tabs) after holding it up to show my friend a familiar sight caught the corner of my eye and the cache was quickly in hand.

I had been to this location just a few weeks earlier unaware that a cache lurked below. Was happy to return and take in the views. TFTC.
This was difficult to find as we moved too far from GZ initially. However after roughing the roaring winds on the hill we did find it. This was a spot I was revisiting from childhood. So it was nice someone has placed a cache here.
Reperio at 1600. Darwinian and I were spending a couple of days in the Blue Mountains, and as we were staying close by, we headed off to this one to grab it before dark. Whilst Darwinian had been here before, I was completely amazed by the monuments that were here and the layout. we got to GZ only to overlook the cache, and so ended up drifting off a little further away searching high and low before coming back to the right spot.
This location is fantastic. I simply loved the views.

A great visit to Mt. York and a great view of the sunset at the end of a perfect winter's day!
Mrs. pjmpjm and I arrived at just the right time -- with a few minutes of daylight available to ferret out the hidden geocache -- to enjoy a glorious view of the valley and the sun slowly descending below the western horizon.
Our disappointment at the apparently muggled 'Western Views' -- halfway up Mt. York -- was more than made up for with the panorama from this famous spot. There were a few people still around at the various lookouts, but none nearby at GZ when I descended slightly to check under a very likely hiding place.
Cache and contents were dry and in good shape. Published coordinates seemed fairly accurate. TNLNSL.
Many thanks to team stilllookin for choosing one of our favourite Blue Mountains places!

Last one for today, not much of a view at the time we got there but we will be back when it is lighter. Thanks.
Fantastic views, haven't been out here for years. Lovely spot to visit on a public holiday spent geocaching. Geoboy was determined to chose a 20c piece for his moneybox as his treasure so swapped it for some beads. Thanks for the hide.
Driving back to Sydney to catch a flight and couldnt help pulling off the highway to grab this one. Read a log by hanjac a while ago explaining that there was a great view from GZ and it didnt disappont. TFTC
Dropped in here after checking a couple of my caches.

Enjoyed this cache. Many reasons. First the view was sensational. Was worthy of a celebration. Second and certainly not least my great mate budokan whilst not there in body was certainly there in spirit. we have enjoyed caching together but we also enjoy each others cache hunts from afar. Thanks bro, you would have enjoyed this view.
not many muggles around today so was able to grab it fast then sit and ponder for a while the marvel that is this country.

Have travelled a lot of miles the last few years caching and often have my mate hanjac keeping an eye on my progress and safety when i am on the other side of the world. Nice to have the boot on the other foot for a change as I am back in NZ and enjoying watching his progress today. He knows I love a cache with a view. Enjoy it for me too bro

After checking out the nearby monument we proceeded down to the lookout and GZ. TheGatherer made the find after a few minutes walking in circles. Left a cork screw. Took a party blower - after all, it is New Year's Eve tomorrow!! Thanks StillLookin for bringing us to an area we might not have come to otherwise.

The awesome views were a huge distraction from our primary purpose - caching. The cache was eventually located, as the Gizmo sent us this way and that, scrambling over the rocks. Lucy Junior found the search quite entertaining, as he was left in a safe location with instructions not to move while I searched, and he thought I resembled an ant scurrying this way and that. Thanks for the cache team stilllookin.

This one was really hard to get the co-ords right with the various levels of rocks and boulders making a straight line walk rather difficult! It was a fabulous day with wild winds making the spectacular scenery even more impressive. (wouldn't want to do this one at night though - just a step in the wrong spot would be rather scary!) We heard a lyrebird as we walked to the lookout which is always lovely too. TFTC Team Stilllookin. Now if I can only apply these techniques to Zombies Cousin I might finally work that one out!!!!!

It was such a great day that I made a last minute decision to go to Mt Victoria and try some caches as time would allow. Great day for a walk, so on I go from the railway station directly to Mt York intending to do a couple others on the way back.
Great cache Team Stilllooking, I got there easy enough and no one in sight but as you would expect a couple Muggles showed up just as I was putting the cache back, so I laid low for a few minutes and they went away none the wiser.
Took nothing, left a media card (with photos) and Rumble the trackable Yowie. I enjoyed that one, thanks for the great walk.

After nabbing two nearby caches, I arrived at this one just as some campers were arising, I got talking to one, and he accompanied me to the cache.
Seems they were there as part of a UTS group to do some climbing. I gave him the spiel on geocaching, and his has a knack for it as he spotted the cache before I did!
Thanks for the hunt, TNLNSL

Found by Mary & David at 1415. We hadn't originally planned to do this one, but followed Riblit's advice to continue to the end of the road and realised the cache was very close. The wind was roaring through the trees like surf crashing on the rocks. Spent some time reading the various monument plaques. Brought back that Australian History from primary school all those years ago. Thankfully, dementia isn't setting in just yet and we can still remember the names and dates. Spectacular views once again. Our thanks again to Team Stilllookin.
Amazing to sit and admire the views.

Cold and blowing a gail from the west here today but still a stunning view when the eyes wern't watering to bad.
Whilst looking at the ground picked up a 1935 penny nearby to GZ. Wonder how long its been lying there as it is in a resonable condition for its location.
Then whist returning to the geomobile spotted a $10 bill flutter across the path. A real financial find here.

After a day at Mount Pid, went to Mount York to enjoy the sunset. The lookout used to be at a different angle, going by the chopped fenceposts. TFTC. Took British Columbia TB. Left Geotalk CD.
Have instructed abseiling here in years gone by...was a little wooried when I arrived to find the centre area covered in tents...many muggles? Was happy to find the cache was in a more discrete area, but lucky the 2 tourists arrived at the lookout as I was leaving...PU spoon TB and is there a coin in there??

Easy find, been years since I have been right out to the end. A very old friend of mine used to have a museum out here, that building is now long gone of course!
Nice views from all lookouts today. Interesting that council or someone chops the trees down to make sure the views remain. Also notice a new big lookout on the LHS as you get near the end.

Nice. Had trouble with the GPS as it was showing me wrong coordinates (Out by 20 to 30 meters). Eventually found it by brute force... i.e. walking round looking in all the obvious places
I'm really glad we made the effort to go the couple of k's out of the way as the views were great for the few minutes that todays cloud cover gave us when it thinned a little. No swaps today but there was no shortage of good swaps here. Thanks Teamstill lookin' nice work.
Very wet and windy but clouds cleared for a brief min to see what would have been a great view.

The GPS for some reason decided to make it difficult; it was all over the place. I let it settle and gave me the best reading of 4/1. Despite the eventual accuracy the cache gods were not with us on this one and we eventually called off the search when some muggles descended on the lookout; we didn't want to be seen doing The wrong thing so scampered back to safer ground. Despite not getting the cache the views were terrific so thanks for luring us to the area with a cache, better luck next time maybe.
Found this one at 4.30pm just as a heavy fog rolled in from the west. This a great lookout when the weather is fine but the rolling mist added another dimension to the overall vista.
Signed the Log - Left nothing - Took nothing

As we wended our way home we detoured out to Mt York for another excellently located cache. Lots of cars about as expected on a fine Saturday - very few tourists mind, most were rockclimbing or abseiling or whatever. We don't ken that sort of thing very well. No one at the lookout making for an easy find. We tarried a while in this peaceful spot, doing the log business and enjoying the views to the west. How wonderful it must have been for those first explorers to see that view with not a trace of "civilisation" to mar the vista.
Found it on the way back to the car park after climbing! Great views.
