GT37 was recently in the area and noticed that we had done this cache previously but had forgotten to log it. The answers have now been sent and approval to log received. We have no idea when we visited but are logging for the day we received the ok to log. Thanks for bringing us here with the placing of this cache.

What a little gem... or should I say Diamond !This wrapped up our morning walk from Bay to Ocean in the perfect way... Some really interesting geology and a superb view... we really couldn't have asked for better conditions. The required information was taken down and the message to CO with our answers was completed shortly after. Thanks for your super quick response Rhinogeo... A favorite point for all the brilliant work here and taking us to Diamond Bay

We had a few days at Rosebud so I took the opportunity to search out a few caches on the ocean side of the peninsula. I've spent a lot of time over the years on the bay side, but not explored many of the ocean beaches.
Spotting this Earthcache on the map started me humming the song from my favourite Pink Floyd album.
The weather kept the muggles away, so I had this beach to myself today. In spite of some plant growth, I identified the strata in question and worked out my directions.
There is certainly a variety of exposed rock layers around these cliffs.
The answers sent, I soon received a reply in the affirmative.
TFTC Rhinogeo, and for bringing me to this great spot

Took the 12yo for a day hike along the back beaches, targeting Diamond Bay for our lunch. Had the place to nearly ourselves for 90 minutes, if you don't count the super-bold magpies.
A great space.

Back down the Peninsula for Easter and out for an early morning cycle today. Using ChatGPX I’d done the research and learnt some very interesting facts! Beautiful morning here, found the required formations and sent my answers to the CO. Thanks for placing this earth cache Rhinogeo. #1897

It was a super windy day. Still, a couple of young lads passed us and then went swimming. Brrr.

Unexpectedly in the area with n0w0rries, and we saw this.

As a Pink Floyd fan, how could I resist? Especially since even the sight of the cache on the map evoked so many memories of parties in Sorrento with the school friend that introduced me to the band's extended repertoire, and this, one of my favourites.

And this Diamond does shine. What a stunning little vista.

For once I actually helped get the answers. Sometimes I'm just the sounding board.

Thanks, Rhinogeo.

With our entire work place without power until an estimated 4 pm, I have the morning free on company paid time. With nice weather, what better time to head down Sorrento way and collect a few geocaches. Specifically 2 puzzles that I enjoyed from 2005 & 2011 and an old multi from 2004 that I need for my Ausmer.

Always looked at this Earthcache on my map, but always run out of time when in this area. I wasn't going to let that happen this time, so enjoyed a lovely stroll here as my second cache of the day.

Thanks for the cache Rhino Geo

With an event on Elephant Rock that look amazing a crew of Neville_devil, AusFox;, Dromaniax and Donutholes was arranged for an early morning ferry ride and a day loaded with caches. Key caches were targeted for their D/T ratings and other because of the degrees from home for other challenges. Then there was also some unloved that was begging as well. All up it was a fantastic day with great mates with caching providing a good excuse to be out and about.
What a lovely Cove/bay. I always like places like this with good sheltered beaches. reminds me a little of one of my favourites Loch Rrd Gorge.
Answers were sent by AusFox; on the day

Thank you Rhinogeo for the Earthcache

Out on a adventure with AusFox, Dromaniax, Sims_family and Neville_devil on this beautiful Sunday day!! We took the ferry across from Queenscliff to attend an event on this side of Victoria and decided to collect a bunch of smiley faces on our way. Such a beautiful cove that I have to come back and visit with the kids. Ausfox sent the answers on behalf of the team Smile. Thanks for the Earthcache

Approval give to log by the CO.

It was an early start to the day as Donutholes, SimsFamily, Dromaniax and Neville Devil all met a 7am at the Queenscliff ferry to make our way across the bay to Sorrento.
Dromaniax had kindly offered to take there car across.
A stunning location in the early morning.

What a magic day! Snuck out for a kid-free snorkel and spotted a stingray chilling in the seaweed. There was a lot happening at the beach - three kids to watch and friends to catch up with, so I blame that for me mucking up which way was north, which then meant my dip bearing was off. Once I was at home I re-read the description and fully took in what I was looking at in the cliffs, but after checking with the CO I realised my mistake and recalculated using google maps. Geology is not my strong point, so I enjoy learning a bit from these earth caches. Thanks again for the interesting history lesson!

Third time is a charm and after going back for yet another look - I realize how close I was in my first attempt anyway any excuse to come down and have a look around on such a beautiful day thanks Rhinogeo

This is my very first Earthcache. I often read the description, found it a bit intimidating and decided to leave it for another day and today was that day.
I was excited to realise that with a bit of concentration and googleing it isn't hard and the visit turns into this great experience of understanding what I'm looking at and seeing details that in previous visits to this stunningly beautiful spot have escaped me. I thoroughly enjoyed this educational geocaching and can't wait to find the next one.
Thank you Rhinogeo for providing all this. A favourite point from me!

On my way down to the Mornington Peninsula to provide support for a few mates walking the [Coastrek event](https://www.coastrek.com.au/events/melbourne) down at Portsea, grabbing a few caches along the way.
Last one for the day, time to get to the rental and warm it up before the team arrives later this afternoon.
Not the sort of place that one would want to wake up shipwrecked at but beautiful in it's ruggedness!

When you see a cache called "Shine on you crazy Diamond" there is no other option than to visit it—great song by a great band. On the way home from our few very eventful days away, we decided to pick this one up before taking the ferry back to our home peninsula. Lovely blowy cool day, the clouds having scudded off before we arrived in Sorrento meant the walk to the beach was pleasant. The beach looks like a great beach for swimming and given its location probably a little quieter than other beaches in the area. We love visiting Eearthhcaches and really appreciate the time and effort to create this type of cache. Thankyou Rhinogeo for creating this cache.

Victoria Day 3: Mornington Peninsula
Drove down to the Mornington Peninsula today for some Vanilla Slices, good views and some caching. We started off at Brighton, and then headed up towards Arthur’s Seat, before having lunch in Sorrento. Capped off the visit with a trip to London Bridge and Diamond Bay Beach. Collected quite a few caches in some amazing locations today, too. Thanks for all the fun and views!

This is the specific log for this cache:
Another stop for a geological gem on the Peninsula. This was truly a lovely place that I wouldn’t have come by if not for the EC, so thanks for bringing this up and placing the cache here. Lovely views were viewed, and made the necessary observations for the cache. TFTEC!

We called by to undertake this Earthcache today and have subsequently submitted our answers to the CO who we thank for having bought us to this lovely location. Thanks so much for the Earthcache and greetings from Zimbabwe

It's been three years since I visited and logged my first earth cache, with this being only my 2nd earth cache I believe. Note to self - must visit more. I ended up visiting here a couple of times, the first time I recall it being rather crowded and being utterly confused over how on earth (no pun intended... okay maybe a little) I would answer the questions?!

Fast forward until more recently, being a little more wiser, the questions were really not as hard as that aeolianite is! Not to mention, a willingness to learn a thing or two about geology and the natural world. Among all the caches that are along this stretch of coastline from Cape Schanck to Point Nepean, I don't think you would come across a single ordinary location. It should be a coastal wonder of the world.

Don't ask why it's taken me two months to submit the answers. I am a belated logger. That's actually not a bad idea for a new caching name. But this is the first log on this cache for 2019, I noticed. Logged with permission. Thanks for bringing me to this hidden gem Rhinogeo.

With the year coming to an end, I decided it was time to find a cache or two while I was on holidays down on the Peninsula... I started the morning with a Letterbox cache and so I decided to end my morning... and year... with an Earth cache. Parking was at a premium as it approached lunch time but I managed to get a spot... and then went off after the nearby Trad cache instead. Just as I found that one, I got a call from the family telling me to join them for lunch in Portsea... so this one was going to have to wait... but not too long as it turned out. After dinner, I went out to have another go at this one... this time parking was much easier so I had no difficulty getting to the required location and studying the required rocks...

Thanks **Rhinogeo** for this Earth cache...

After a recommendation by a friend from uni, from 20 years ago, mum this afternoon we headed out to take in the loveliness and natural beauty of the area. We were not disappointed, we rarely are in the Australian landscape.
Thanks for the EC.

We were in the area for a few geocaches and came here for this Earthcache. What a spectacular spot. Lots of muggles today posing for photos. Understandably so. Logged with permission from CO. Many thanks for sharing with us such a beautiful spot. TFTC Rhinogeo.

I've visited this site twice now to ascertain my answers. I hope I'm right. It's an interesting site to study and I had my directions all distorted due to the curve in the Bay and general angle the coastline goes. Thanks for bringing me to this location for my favourite type of cache: Earthcache.

19-Sep-17
My second EC target for the day was a much less eventful find but certainly more picturesque. Although traversing stairs after the broken leg is annoyingly slow thankfully there was no need to negotiate all of them to examine the formation in question.
I didn't spend as much time as I would have liked walking the bay or surrounding tracks but with the traditionals placed nearby there is no doubt that I'll be back in the future.
My thanks to Rhinogeo for drawing me to the area and it appears that I'm not the only one. This (almost decade old) EC has attracted over 100 finders proving it's popularity. I look forward to finding the far more proximate ECs put out by the CO in the near future.

This is our (the Dragon and I) fourth day of our mini break to Melbourne and a chance to head down the coast and see some of the countryside that the Dragon has never viewed before (I used to live over here).
So as we worked our way down the coast through the early morning traffic we enjoyed numerous stops for both the views and coffee (not necessarily in that order) while limiting myself to Earthcaches due to both the ground we needed to cover and you never want to be stuck in the car with an angry Dragon.

This being the third stop of the day as we were to explore the Penisula and its surounds. Compared to yesterday the weather was very nice with slight brezzes and clear skies (this was to change later in the day). Another place that we had to ourselves following a bit of a drive around Serrento looking at the area.
A nice short walk out to the view to gather the required information.Interesting area and some amazing features on the landscape. Thank you for brining me here today.

A big thank you to all the CO's for placing these Earthcaches as they are a great distraction while travelling the area.
Thanks for the placement

frmen1 and I ran away from home for a long weekend on Mornington Peninsula. We walked a total of 23kms on Sat and Sunday (only did about 3kms today). This Earthcache was our last cache for this outing. We raced from the car between squalls and were amazed at what we found. The sedimentary layers gave us much to talk about...colours, composition and erosion patterns. We appreciated the work still being done by Mother Nature to improve her artwork. Thank you Rhinogeo for bringing us here and approving our answers.

Thanks very much for this Earth cache. Tassie expat and I enjoyed the geology lesson and finding it. There was certainly plenty of other interesting formations there too.

Nice part of the peninsula! Enjoied the beach and the walks around the cliff. Spend one the best nigth in Victoria so far up to the cliff East of the bay enjoing the view of the stars and the sound of the sea. Amazing the rockpools down there!

Happy earth cache day!
Today I was in Rye with the family so decided a local earth cache would be a treat. Diamond Bay sounded appealing so off we trotted and it didn't disappoint! Gorgeous little bay to visit. Geokids collected shells, sea glass and clambered over the rocks whilst geo hubby and I wandered up and down.
Only down side of the visit was the extremely blustery conditions meaning we were "sand whipped" on our bare legs and sometimes copped a sand shower in our eyes. Worth it though.
Thanks for the great cache location Rhinogeo- a fave from me.

We visited this site earlier today to celebrate International EarthCache Day 2016
What a fabulous location! What spectacular scenery!
Many thanx to the CO for providing the cache which encouraged our visit, for the lesson in geology (a subject in which we have very limited knowledge) and for the prompt reply to our emails
We log this cache with the Rhinogeo's permission. A definite fav point added

They say diamonds are a girls best whatever. But will they remain their best whatever when they are now starting to crush carbon and make pretty diamonds? Crazy stuff. Just like the house when you drive down that street to GZ(pic). Reckon you'd want a small diamond mine to build that one.

The location is a beauty and I hung around in the late afternoon. There were quite a few cars parked at the park but no one down the track or at the steps. Where do people go?

Thanks to Rhinogeo and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet! Logged with permission.

Thanks to Rhinogeo for creating this Earth Cache.
A delightful location here.

We visited this lovely location with new geo buddies from Frankston. After a week or so sightseeing around the peninsula we had a bit of time to visit this location prior to catching the ferry across to Queenscliff and the start of our journey homewards to Port Pirie. We were not disappointed with the bay and coastal scenery. The cache geology was challenging for us, but we are logging this cache with approval. Tftc

Day 8 of our geoholiday in Victoria and today we are finishing off the remaining caches past Serrento as we ran out of light the day before, spotted this EC so we soon detoured to it, a very lovely spot here and after failing the first email we soon had the right answer on the second one and was given permission to log : ) TFTEC

I visited Diamond Bay back on 9 October 2013, took the photos and collected the info but forgot to log!
Diamond Bay is a special spot for me, i have been going there for many years, it is such a lovely little bay. I used to fish from the rocks at the nearby Bay of Islands, catching sweep and leatherjackets, it's a pity they haven't replaced the stairs down to the beach and platforms.
Thanks Rhinogeo for bringing me here and teaching me about the geology of the area. Earthcaches are enriching my limited knowledge of geology.

Such as lovely spot even in winter. We spent time walking on the tracks around the dunes as the high tide didn't allow us on the beach but we were able to get to the spot.

Thanks Rhinogeo for the cache and more education on geology! Dip and strike! Logged with permission

I'd been wanting to do this cache for quite some time and a trip to the Westernport side of the Mornington Peninsula during daylight hours Wink, the first for quite some time was the ideal opportunity to do it.
The rock formations were quite remarkable and the view superb. I learnt quite a bit in answering the first question because I continued with my research and didn't just stop as soon as I had the answer I was seeking.
Thank-you for bringing me here and for your speedy reply to my email.

Spiffy- and I had been down caching at Portsea and decided to come collect this Earth Cache. It was a hot day and long weekend so plenty of people were taking advantage of the bay. Really enjoyed discovering this spot so thanks to Rhinogeo for bringing me here.

08-Mar-14
Today we headed out to hike right out to the end of Point Nepean and collect a couple of puzzles we were working on along the way. It was a pretty warm day but we had plenty of drinks to keep us going. After our hike we still had time on our way home to pickup some other caches and why not an earth cache since we hadn't done one for ages.
So glad we came here, what a beautiful secluded bay. It would be awesome to own a house near here and have this as your swimming hole.
The car park was extremely busy so we had to park in quite a dodgy location but so did most others so we didn't think anyone would mind and it was all fine in the end.
Thanks for the cache, the fun and the permission to log Rhinogeo. The pleasure was all mine. A favourite for me.

Earthcaches are great - they take you to the loveliest places! I arrived around 2:30pm - the tide was going out but still high enough that the waves were coming up to the rocks - the bottom of the steps were as far as I went. Thanks! (Sue-Cat)

Our find number 1000 was Budj Bim in Western Victoria - a place full of personal history for us as well as an amazing earth cache. Now we selected this earth cache on the Mornington Peninsula, to mark our 2000th find, in an area that we were not familiar with. And what a beautiful place this is! There were not too many people around, which enabled us to investigate the layers and directions, then went for walks along the beach and to the nearby lookouts. Now we understand a little more of how to read the scenery - thank you very much to Rhinogeo for opening our eyes (again), and for your prompt permission to log this significant find.

After spending the day with Mrs Crackers geocaching in the Moe area, Mr Crackers and I headed down to the Mornington Peninsula to tackle the earthcaches located there. This was the second we visited and I am logging with permission. As it was early evening with a chill sea breeze blowing, there was only two muggles down on the beach, which allowed us to examine the structure without interruption. Vigorous debate about directions and layers as well as explanations of geological concepts ensued before we agreed our answers. Thanks Rhinogeo for the earthcache and for bringing us to this lovely location.

Diane and micaparamedic had a day of caching around Moe while I was returning from Yarrawonga then we changed shifts and headed off to the Mornington peninsula to try our luck at a few earth caches.
We came to this very picturesque location and had tried for a FTF when this one first came out but could not understand what was required, but with a few more Earth Caches under our belt and also having micaparamedic who understand geology far better he patiently explained the meaning of Dip and Strike and once more I have walked away from an earth cache with a lot more knowledge of the world we live in, and how it was formed.
Many thanks Rhinogeo for the cache and permission to log.

Logged with permission. Spent a whole day on the Mornington Peninsula - walking to Fort Nepean and Cheviot Beach, where former Prime Minister Harold Holt drowned while snorkelling. This section and diamond Bay show the ruggedness of the seaward side of the peninsula. TFTC. 2BluFish

What a beautiful site this is, when I was here it was so windy, I was almost getting blown away Surprised.

Some fantastic formations here, and I enjoyed learning some more about them, the knowledge that I used to bore my family subsequently Wink

I have emailed the owner the answers to the questions and I thought I would post my photo as a note pending confirmation.

Thanks for organising the Earthcache at this location Smile

Edit: After confirmation from the owner I am happy to log this as a find Big Grin

Again I would like to thank the owner for this fantastic cache at this location Smile

Beautiful day to be out caching and catching up with some good friends. Good times and some laughs during this trip. I was made fun of a lot too due to my lack of cache finding skills. I'm sticking with the excuse that I wanted the boys to feel important by finding all the caches today.
This location was really beautiful and a lot was learnt at this location.

This was the third of eight caches we found this afternoon, and my 60th earthcache. What a great location! We arrived down the unassuming road and were amazed to see this beautiful bay. There were some hipster types enjoying the sun, they weren't bothered by us checking out interesting geological formation. My thanks to Rhinogeo for the informative earthcache.

It was another legendary night caching run with my fellow TDC (The Demolition Crew) team members Quasar3671 and Blacklegend. In tow, once again, was our good caching buddy Roostaman from Wagga. While Q and I already have more than the required numbers for the Australian Night Caching Masters Challenge, our country kin needed to grab a few more to get them to the required numbers. The really weird thing is that TDC almost always cache at night, but 99.9% of those caches don’t count for the challenge! So here we were lined up to do Frankston Area night caches and the Point Nepean night caches by bike. The Frankston area night caches (5 in total) and quite a number of traditional caches were cleaned up in less than a few hours. It was then a matter of collecting a few of the harder puzzle caches on the way to Point Nepean. We were having so much fun on the Peninsula that we eventually decided to abandon the Point Nepean night caches leg of the journey and continue to score some big numbers in the Dromana – Portsea area. In total it amounted to a night of 53 caches being collected.

The absolute highlight of the night was watching Blacklegend pull himself up to reach “Above the Commanding Officer – Carbine” for his 4,000 GC.com cache find. Blacklegend you are an absolute LEGEND!

After the obligatory photo of the cache in hand, we hit the tarmac, dirt tracks, streams and cow paddocks to continue the run. While the weather was not the best, it’s something we have come to expect, and all being well prepared, we had a great night. Added to the morning cache total of about 13 caches I think my personal total for the run was well over 60 caches for the day. You little ripper!

Cache log - After decending the steps we stopped on the platform for the photo and to take a bearing. On returning back to base camp the internet search completed the puzzle piece and after an email or two (Rhinogeo knows the story) we are now able to confirm a log for this one. A very different earthcache, and much more enjoyable than the typical vesicular basalt earthcache I'm usually taken to. Thanks for teaching me something new R. A favourite point to you.

Found on another great nite trek with The Demolition Crew. The weather was clearing for a while so it looked like a dry night but it changed and the rain turned on and off for hours. We had a fun bike ride to log a few good caches and abandoned the 2nd leg of the bike tour of the Peninsula due to the weather, but found more caches driving around instead. Overall, an excellent night to remember.

This was one of the stops where it was raining heavier and we still managed to get to GZ & get the right answers and take photos, although they are dark and wet. Once again a very informative Earthcache for my 35th of this type and no less than we have come to expect from Rhinogeo. TFTEC Rhino,
Roostaman.

Another legendary night run with the The Demolition Crew (TDC) being myself, TrailRunning and Quasar3671. Again
with us tonight for the run was Roostaman from Wagga, to enjoy another champion run. The nights agenda was to
focus on "Night Caches" which may sound strange for our group, considering we do 99% of our caching at night,
but so few of them are actual night caches. Numbers were needed for myself and Roostaman for the "Night Caching Masters Challenge" cache. The target areas were Frankston night caches and the Point Nepean night caches, both areas by push bike. Lots of fun at night, with a torch gaffa taped to the handlebars of a bike... Cool.

The highlight of the night for me, well there were two, me getting my 4000th GC find at Above The Commanding Officer - Carbine, and the celebrated find, in driving rain, at Puzzlemania 7 - Maths Test. Weather was not the best on the night, but we still managed over 60 finds for the entire day, including the run to Melbourne. Another great night, can't wait until the next.... Stay tuned all you caching folks out there.....

Logging a find with permission. Another Earth Cache on a wet and windy night. Enjoyed the rock formations at GZ, and learned something new as well. Always enjoy your Earth Caches Rhinogeo, this one was no exception. TFTC. Fav for me as well.

Been to the diamond today. At these temperatures the water was not inviting for swimming. But I can imagine in the summer.

And finally noticed the rock formations around here.

Hello, logging my personal tracker to calculate distance Smile

We enjoyed visiting Diamond Bay, and there were some more magnificent views here too. It was getting late in the day, so we got to witness a glorious sunset. This certainly is a beautiful area, and we were lucky enough to be able to explore more of it following along some of the other trails here. Thanks for the cache.

6/05/12 5:36 PM Find #955 - I like Earthcaches and the more I find the more I learn. The location here is a stunning looking bay and at this time of the evening with the sunsetting the remaining daylight against the water, sand and the small cliffs was an impressive sight. I was down the peninsula visiting the family for Dad's birthday, and we headed down south to Sorrento for a pleasant bay-side lunch. I managed to drag them on a detour on the return leg via this lovely little bay which I've never visited before, or indeed noticed before on the map. At GZ I noticed the photo showing the required rock formation - which of course was missing on the GPS - but luckily my sister had her iPhone and so we were able to locate it without too much trouble (even without it the coordinates were good enough to pinpoint it) Having quickly collected the required on-site information, I took a few photos of the scenic sea and rocks (which I'll attach if they turned out ok!) I'd had loved to grab some other caches but it turned out that they were just outside the query radius - luckily I do my Earthcaches separately or I'd have missed the opportunity to visit this pretty spot. Thanks Rhinogeo Smile

Find # 1476

Well, despite the inclement weather promised for today, I decided to head out to the Blairgowrie, Portsea, Sorrento and Port Nepean area with my caching partner in crime sedgwickdave.

Dave had already logged this cache on a previous visit, today it was my turn.

Another fantastic beachside spot along the Mornington peninsula but this one with something to learn too. The sky was overcasy but there were still quite a few people on the beach.

Logged with permission of the owner.

Thanks to Rhinogeo for the Earth Cache and bringing me here.

Was down today at Portsea for a dive, but conditions on the water had me feeding the fishes in a really uncomfortable way.[xx(] Dam sea sickness!!... So seeing that I was down here decided to cheer myself up and feel better by dropping by and doing this cache. Had spotted it some time back on the map and have been keen to do it. Great views and a location I have never been to before.
