Yes you would have thought this prominent local identity would have had a more obvious grave. No troubles finding cache.
The inside container lid has been broken and the log is damp as a result. It will probably need some attention soon. Cheers
A seventh find for the night with ingidayna. The inside container lid is broken and the log is damp - will need some attention soon. TFTC
5921 The fascinating life of a resourceful pioneering legend, thanks for showing us his resting place, TFTC
A quick find while passing through the area this morning. Mrs agcnz and I really appreciated the interesting and detailed commentary on the history of the area, it made quite a difference to our coming here. Signed log, TFTC!
Nice history and as you say simple stone for someone important of the time. Got to pay respects to a very recent passing whom will be missed. I was not able to make it down at the time. Farewell Sue. Tftc
Part of our tour around Eastern Southland. Lovely day for the whole family, discovering hidden sites. Also enjoyed a visit to Maple Glen and the beautiful flowers (and cute ducklings!)
Dropped off Li-Z's music coin to continue its journey.

On a frosty Southland day, we went caching - foggy in this area but an easy find behind an interesting head stone. What a lonely life he must have lead, losing his kids early on in life. Very sad!
1500hrs Interesting find well placed. PU 'Pink Apple Kitty' (QRDT7E) The Italian Job was here......! Our blog www.motorhominginxs.blogspot.com
What a lovely, large, well-kept place. Interesting information in website. We visited after a day at the 23rd Annual Crank-Up Vintage Machinery Show in Edendale. I have never seen so many tractors in one place! The Evers-Swindell twins were there.

Cache Find #50 for me! And appropriately at the resting place of a number of my ancestors. A shower of rain helped to cure a couple muggle's curiosity! TFTC
At last the opportunity to visit this area and made the most of a whirlwind trip with Bitsprayer and Froogal. A good place to have a look around and take in the views.
Thanks

I was expecting a small cemetry, but this is quite large. Thanks for the history tour
Was passing on a work trip, before heading north to home in Hamilton, and this tranquil spot looked like a visit would be in order. Picked up the Pukekpo TB for a trip north with me also.
GPS led us straight to the grave stone,
Great piece of history, wished we had more time to look around. Dropped off TB, took nothing.

Good history lesson and so peaceful here on a lovely day. Good find. Took butterfly and left gel pen.
Found this cache on a beautiful sunny day. Left a bumble bee and took the canadian geocoin.
Cache clearly visible from a way away so tucked in back a bit. Thanks for the history lesson.
Did this one without the GPS, it was having a bad day. Had a fair idea where it would be, but got a bit lost trying to find it. Took 2 pins and mascara, left Canada GC, heart box, body scrub and car. TFTC
Good coords made for an easy find of an interasting cache.I suspect this was an important area in earlier times.T peeler knife/L butterfly.TFTC
Oh no, why on earth was the mower man there today? He left me in peace, thankfully. A very quick, very easy find, after which I wandered and wondered. So many very early deaths in times gone by. Makes you really grateful. Left a tube of super glue - really great for musicians who cut fingers. Let it bleed out to minimise bruising, glue with super, then carry on practising. Scored a really neat VW lapel pin. TFTC.
What a great day to go caching with the family. The view today was fantastic. This was our first FTF . UNCLE arrived just as we were getting ready to put the cache back.
Great part of Southland's history.

Stopped and found it on the way back from Waituna Lagoon. We were 3rd to find on the same day, a busy cache.
A great day for caching after three days of rain.
- Key ring + Potatoe Peeler. TFTC.

Funny isn't it? New cache sits there for a week and then three visits on one day including first two within 3 minutes of one another. Had been entertaining thoughts of a FTF but hopes dashed as I heard voices as I approached the cache. First name on a headstone that I saw as I entered the gate was the same surname as stegan. I assume this must be an ancestor of his.
