First find of the day on a trip to Omaha, a place I hadn't visited in probably 20 years. Gosh, how it has changed, what a shame it now resembles an Auckland beachside suburb.

13-Mar-11
Nice easy find, in fact Bev stood on it, could do with some more camo on it as well.

04-Mar-11
Cache had "drifted" as I found camo where the clue said. Widened search located cache. Replaced in what I hope was the original position. Interesting bird sanctuary.

24-Feb-11
Tried to find cache but was unable to locate it to maintain it, thanks NZTIKES the cache is still there. I did a large grid search and still couldn't locate. Thanks NZTIKES for moving back to the correct spot.

Tidied up a bit. Moisture & cockroach! wiled it dry. Seattle's Best is good to bring tissues! Took out moisture eater as it was saturated & broken. Nice spot to bring us to. Thnx Kuwi Gary. 11:40AM

Had a nice walk around the area. TFTC

18-Jan-11
I found the cache exposed, open and thrown about. So put it back together and placed where I thought it was suppose to be. t4tc

04-Jan-11
Took us a little while to hunt down but a great opportunity to educate the children on the importance of conservation. TFTC

23-Dec-10
Almost stood on this cache. Was standing at the co-ordinates commenting this is where the GPS tells me where it is and looked down and there it was a few cms away.
Amazing number of scallop shells on the beach on our route to the cache, having had to waqlk around the fenced of bird Sanctuary areas.

Kids loved doing it. 1st time seaking.

27-Feb-10
Very quick and easy find at GZ as someone had stuck a stick with some material tied to it in the bush were the cache was hidden. I removed the "white cane" as with the clue it is obvious were you should be. TFTC

22-Feb-10
Eventually found this after cursing my poor knowledge of NZ bushes Smile

TFTC, now onto the next.

Came back and revisited this one after not being able to find it nearly a year ago. I'm not sure how we missed it last time as it was a fairly quick find this time. Beautiful spot. GC out.

31-Dec-09
Took a bit of searching for 3 of us. Should have looked under the first 'bush' we came across; almost stood on it. Happy New Year.

Quick find while rest of crew were test driving xmas boogy board

Nice to see the birdlife so busy

Also picked up couple of trackables that seem to have been sitting here for a while to move on

07-Nov-09
Now I know what a Wire Vine bush looks like. We tripped over it so it was well hidden.

Many thanks Gary and Mum. We checked out the wildlife sanctuary first, spotted lots of nesting Dotterels and Oyster Catchers, before making a quick find, found it after circum-navigating the hint tree.

Labour Weekend - Originally, we wanted to try our new tent on the camping ground in Pararaha Valley, but that was booked out to the last place. So we switched to the alternative program: Matakana and surroundings.
Before we went to the Matakana cinema ("(500) Days of Summer" - great movie!), we had "dinner" at Omaha Beach. How convenient to have a cache on the way. Though, it took some time to find it. We were about to give up defeated by all the stuff mentioned in the hint, when Rumo kicked one larger bunch of the "stuff" and heard a pleasing hollow "plonk". Oh. There it is. Not that difficult after all. Oops. But wet. Camo is coming off at parts of the lid.
Took: Wet mirror
Left: Silica satchel

Concentric ever decreasing circles, the sure but tiring way of closing in on a cache. Initially concerned about the scope of search area but a relatively quick find, phew. I spent my summers up here 20 years ago when it wasn't quite so flash; had my first night camping near this cache and it was miles from any houses...

5-ish pm. Another beautiful spot for our last cache of the day. So nice that it's left undeveloped...so far anyway! Saw about 8 little bunnies nibbling away at the grass on our way out to GZ. Went straight to the cache (noticed lid wasn't so securely on?!?! but all ok inside).

Left 'Magic Turtle' TB as I think he'll enjoy it out there with all the wildlife at the beach.

4.30pm. Had wondered whether a cache at Omaha would be swarming with muggles on a fine Sunday afternoon but not so at this end. Location turned out to be a nice isolated spot with a healthy population of rabbits. Found easily by The Pud with the help of a very accurate GPS reading. As the cache lid was partly off a soft toy inside was wet so we rescued it for a little TLC before it sets out again. Left a Yellow Jeep TB.
TFTC.

Parked at the surf club and had a very memorable barefoot walk along the beach to find the cache. Took a while to find but it's there alright. Great to see the dotterels thriving in the area. TFTC

20-Sep-09
Blustry day at Omaha today so a brisk walk to GZ. A quick search of the area revealed the treasure and we were soon on our way. T4TC.

18-Sep-09
We haven't been to Omaha for many years - it is really built-up now, almost to the tip of the peninsula. We enjoyed the walk to GZ. Surprised how many rabbits there are - guess all their predators are killed to protect the birds. No trouble locating the cache, despite initial fears. Thanks for a reason to come back here, and the trip down memory lane.
Dropped kangaroo TB and picked up 100 Finds Geocoin

The beach certainly looks like it is ready for D-Day invasion with all that netting out. Great walk and loved the pheasants we saw.

05-Sep-09
A beautiful day so the beach was busy but not by the cache. Celebrated Spring and a successful find by walking the length of the beach and back.. Its further than it looks.Needed a reviving icecream on the return leg.Put in a geocoin and took out a TB

Thanks, Kiwigary, for a nice hide. Reminded us how nice it is along there. Walked back through the Bird area and along the beach.

This was the 'Fools' first real find, all on his own. Usually it's been the fools wife or someone else we are taking with us.

Excellent stuff Smile Thanks.

11-Jan-09
Would have been 1st to cache on 10th morning but couldn't find it at GZ with the wire vine all over. Was the camouflage the bag of trash left there? It was too much for us to carry out!

10-Jan-09
Nice find, though it did need to be concealed a little bit more, it was pretty obvious when we found it. Found with lauralouwho.
