Then walked back a bit and climbed up into the hollow rock - this was fascinating with some amazing rock patterns/caverns here! Fav point for this one!
I drove up to Horsham to drop my Daughter at her friend's for a week and took the opportunity to do a little caching in Horsham before heading off to the Grampians for a walk up Mt Stapylton.
I stopped off here to drop a TB.
Love this cache and location.
The cache lid has fallen apart and the logbook was damp, I flipped the cache over to try and keep the contents dry.
Need a 1 litre sistema up here if anyone reads this before they visit.
Thanks

That is a bloody long way down when you get to end of the 'tunnel!
Wasn't so bad, by keeping away from the edge I wasn't constantly reminded about how far down it is! lol
Found in only places that matched the hint, as GPSr still had me wanting to go out there!

Thanks for the adventure.
If you know what you're looking for, you can actually see this cache from the summit!
Wowsers!! I'd been here previously and had forgotten just how magnificent this end of the Grampians is.
The plan was to start at Hollow Mountain follow the ridges to Mount Stapleton and return to the car. Ahh the best laid plans of human EPIRBs and Geocachers
After a miscalculation and too much jibber jabber we found ourselves 30 metres from the cache or should I say 30 metres below the cliff the cache was on. Bugger. Okay focus and start again. We followed the cliff back and got to the top of Hollow Mountain accompanied by 30 school students. Ahh the serenity.
With attention to the instructions the cache, unlike our nerves was soon in hand. What a great spot to take in and enjoy the breeze. Hugh the human EPIRB was loving the adventure making me the best second cousin ever.
Thanks for contributing to the fun HGCore
However, what an amazing place and in the end, we didn't really mind too much about the smiley. After we decided against that last scramble, we spent a good couple of hours just exploring the top of the mountain, inside and out. The windblown cave inside that big rock is just incredible.
The perfect weather meant the mountain and nearby outcrops were alive with people climbing up and down on ropes, hanging upside down from outcrops and cave roofs and carrying their mats up and down. We sort of felt old and unfit, but then we looked at the view back down to the car park and decided we'd done OK.
Thanks for the hunt HGCore and although it's a DNF, we loved it !
THANX FOR THE ADVENTURE ️
With the pointing boxes pointing "out there", I decided to scuttle out first for a bit of a look, and I tell you what, you wouldn't want to be afraid of heights coming out here, no siree....anyway, I found the container, and we sat our there on the ledge taking photos and admiring the view while we scribbled our names in the log book.
This is what caching is all about.....

A fun filled day of bushwalking and rock scrambling/ climbing.
We started the day with this cache. Parked at the Hollow Mountain parking area we headed straight up the sandstone.
We arrived at the top of Hollow Mt before realizing the cache wasn't up there! We the cache actually is I had gone to check out on the way up as well, just because it looked cool in there. Clearly I wasn't looking at my gps at all!
After a good look around at the views up to we headed back down and around to the cache. The rocks were still a bit damp from the overnight rain so it was a cautious effort to go looking for the cache, but I spotted the suspicious pile of rocks fairly quickly and logging duties were performed shortly after.
TFTC! The wind was quite strong through the tunnel today!!
On the way to this cache I really thought our day was going to come to an abrupt holt as I had a dizzle spell and felt terrible for a short time. After a little break and some water I started to come good again fortunately. It would have been very disappointing to drive 3 hour to get here and have to head back again so early.
Once we finally made it to the wind tunnel after me slowing everyone down for a while we were on the hunt. We were originally on the right track only turning around on meters from the cache . After Ausfox; used a PAF we quickly made the extra few meters to find the cache waiting for our names to be enetered into the log book.
Thank you HGcore for the cache
We spent a little time here hunting high and low trying to get as close as possible to GZ which after trial and error, we even got within a couple of metres at one stage but with help from a PAF we were able to eventually find the cache. Log signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the cache HGCore

What a fantastic adventure it was getting to this cache, I'm always up for a rock scramble and this one sure ticked that box and what a view we had here, we enjoyed climbing all over the rocks here, but I had one massive advantage having a previous finder along with me.
Thanks HGcore for the awesome location and cache.
She said the previous find logged in the log book had also been an unexpected find....
Could the next person to visit this cache please collect my trackable as its been in here for nearly a year, I went to alot of effort for this and it means alot to me
Kind Regards

What an adventure that turned out to be!! The cache location was no way near as scary as the day we had just had so we mannaged to find it fairly easily after 30 minutes or so of hunting around.

Glad to finally log this found!
The Frantic Four of Freddo, Malco!, Brad&Janet and I set about to conquer the North West, with no less than 3 summit assaults planned. This was cache 3 from 6.
This was my personal favourite of the caches in this region. Especially when you walk through the wind tunnel and you come out at the other end, the views are to die for. Die you could as well if you take a wrong step here. We did take a couple of wrong steps in a geographical way in search of the right elevation, but once we re-read the instructions it was quite a safe clamber to the final location.
Nice spot for the obligatory 'feet shot'.
The plan was to do a round trip over the summit of Mt Stapylton, but we weren't sure how to get there. There were no red arrows to be found and so we followed the yellow arrows all the way to the summit of Mt Hollow. The views were once again superb, but it also became crystal clear there was no way from here to My Stapylton.
So back we went in search of red arrows. There had to be a path across the ridge!
A few discussions followed. Do we need to go through the wind tunnel again? Is our path through the cave and rocks are now blocking it? Or is is through the narrow passage next to the cave (which in hindsight was probably the right solution) or do we need to go down a bit and then around?
We opted for the last suggestion but with nothing but sheer cliffs between us and the summit we quickly realised this attempt would be frugal. So instead we decided to abandon the northern approach and to return to the Mt Zero carpark and attack the Mt Stapylton summit from the other end. A 6km round trip all of a sudden became a 13km hike
Thanks for taking us to this great cache location HGcore!
Our first Grampian Secret.
We arrived here in the morning after conquering Mount Zero and visiting Summer Daze. We climbed up to the base of the imposing cliffs and took a left turn into the Windy Hollow. CoC was working his way along the ledge on the left, while Freddo was taking elevation readings. Too low was the verdict and I found a way to get up higher. After looking in some promising cavities, I heard below that a re-reading of the instructions meant that we had been at the right level all along, and I climbed back down to the level we came in at. After CoC extended his searching a little further , he found the prize. Well done that man!
Fantastic spot to visit with impressive views in all directions.
Thanks for the cache, HGcore.
We continued up and around Mt Hollow with the expectation of continuing to Mt Stapylton and GS4 but hit a snag. Much discussion ensued resulting in a lot of backtracking and innovative directions. Eventually we decided to tackle it from the other end. Back at the carpark we saw that our intended path no longer officially existed.

I recently set myself a goal of making The Melbourne Event 2015 my 100th event and in order to do this, I have to attend almost every nearby event. After setting up my tent at the campsite and chatting to Janet from Brad and Janet, I headed out for some Grampians caching. I had a wonderful afternoon exploring the Mount Zero area. Jacko83 recommended this series of caches to me and they certainly did not dissapoint. SIMPLY SPECTACULAR!! A facourite point from me for the last 30 metres
Thanks to HGCore for the cache. TNLN

14th / 15th November 2015 - GC5HCJ8 - Casey Fields - Melbourne Victoria
Day 2
The first hike for the day involved three peak ascents, Mt Zero, Mt Hollow, and Mt Staplyton and 6 caches out of 6 attempts.
This was the second cache off the second climb. This was always going to be challenging. Not found for long enough to qualify as unloved.
We arrived at the approximate GZ but what level. The cache notes were read out including the phrase "go either up or down". This caused some confusion until a recheck revealed the correct words were "go neither up nor down".
A return to an earlier location and a move a bit further on and the cache was in hand.
There are T5 issues here (using the T5 definition that falling will kill you) but there are now 4 more names in the log now.

Back in the Grampians for the long weekend, my main priority was Grampians Secrets 3 & 4, these two caches had been on my most wanted list for far to long and if there was to be any cache finding it was these two caches.
After finding No 3 in thick cloud cover I tentatively headed towards this cache hoping I wasn’t walking in the direction of a dead end. At some point I started following small rock Cairns that seem to lead me around a few obstacles but finished abruptly less than 100m before the cache. Problem was I appeared to be well above the cache with no obvious way down. Some time was spent trying different ways, some more difficult than others eventually I found a route down and later discovered I wasn’t far at all form the cache but at the time the GPSr was all over the place. Soon after finding away down I discovered the caves and for the next hour I spent searching every nook and cranny for the cache. Still not sure why but I had some preconceived notation that this is where the cache was hidden
With frustration starting to kick in, it was time for a break so headed up to the summit were in a short time I could see where the GPSr was pointing, back down I go and had the cache in no time. After the route I took from the other cache the last final few metres were a piece of cake
Great cache in fantastic area, which I so pleased to add my name
[green]Merci beaucoup
Cheers

Quiet hot today but with a double layer of suncreen, water and a hat I was all good.
Spent about 2 hours here in total - maybe 40 minutes trying to find GZ. Gps had me following a path where there was no path. Closest I got to at one spot was 15m. Crawled out one time, saw the path going in places to hairy for me, went back again, crawled around inside caves and tunnels, trying to decipher the hint. Again I found myself back at the same spot which had me closest. Read some logs and decided to brave it and crawl out, clinging to rocks and sweating beads. Got to a place I could stand - had a look and decided it must be up there - started climbing - put my hand on a spot and looked down where I was gripping - the cache!!! yewwww!
Signed the new log and crawled back to safety. Amazing windcaves here that I'm really glad I got to see. One of the scariest experiences I have ever had caching. Look forward to the others! TFTC HGcore! Fave point.
So, the cache is re-enabled, but be aware that it may not be accessible until the area is reopened.
Great place, wish I'd had more energy to explore it, and find the thing
The weekend turned up about 40 caches for me, including the last required DT combo for my Project 81.. Thanks to the various owners along the way, and appologies for the generic copy and paste logging.. We mixed it up with quite a few multis and some really fun bushwalks into the Grampians to take in the stunning views.. Weather for the weekend was awesome. Cheers to the cache owners for the caches.. Find #2968 TFTC. Dipped various TB's and GC's to mark the occasion.
It wasn't until the next day that we discovered Grampians Secrets 4, that we realized there was one back in the wind tunnel caves. After rock climbing to the top of Staplyton and back to GS4, we returned to the wind tunnel and searched the levels before eventually returning to the car,
My son has been rock climbing at the Grampians for 1 year now and loves it, but knowing that he's doing it to find "treasure" has really heightened his excitement now.
After reading this geocache log I realize that we never searched in that bottom, first cave for the geocache when we returned. We expected it to be high up in the cavern somewhere. No worries though, we'll be back for the rest of the geocaches one day, maybe next year, with some more friends. Love the idea and the experience.
Huge thanks to HGCore!!! ROCK ON!!
The GPS was of little us in the tunnel and we were baffled for while, as to where the cache was.
Seems others have found it without a GPS too as there are a lot of muggle finds in the log.
The wind cave just above the tunnel is equally amazing and I now have an appetite to find more 'secrets' caches.
Much thanks to HGCore for this memorable cache
The wind was howling through the tunnel and it felt just a little dangerous making my way out to the cache, sitting tantalisingly close on its perch.
Glad to return safely again so that we could continue to enjoy the wonderfully carved sandstone features of this remarkable peak.

A fair bit of time, and a lot of scratches later, we finally hit the Hollow Mountain track.
From there it was a lot easier.
Had a play through the cave to the wind tunnel, which was certainly living up to its name today. We had no trouble walking up the tunnel.
Again Feathertop made the find, while I marveled at the route we had taken a short while ago.
We took the required photos and headed down to Daze, and the walk back to Mt Zero carpark.
Thanks for the walk, Robmc.
Oooo, a nasty little bugger, great fun though!
I did wonder if it might be in here, a favorite picnic spot in days gone by.It's amazing how many muggles have found it here, all have done the right thing and you may have introduced a few people to the persuit.
Didn't need the hint but did need the elevation.
Thanks again HG for the cache, and for this series of caches only trouble is, I've run out, more please!!

Having read the previous logs I can see the concern about safety, but here the risks are obvious and expected. While we would carefully take our kids to the wind caves we would never consider letting them anywhere near GZ without a rope on. Log signed, we returned to guide our crew back down the mountain and to the end of another great adventure. Thanks for the fun. This has to be our favourite area in the Grampians.
After successfully finding Grampians Secrets 4, the assault team split into two parties. Those who (wisely) decided to return by the designated path and those who decided to attempt to follow the "lost" path to Hollow Mountain. We were part of the latter. Parts of the path were still visible as were the occasional rock cairns marking the path. Only 400m to travel and the first 300m were great going for those used to rock hopping, then after 30 minutes we found ourselves within 27m of the GZ, the only trouble was there was a lot of fresh air between us and the next ridge where the GZ was located. P-pprass headed off up a gully then down a rock ridge line to scout a route and after a while was very close to the GZ. So .......... disclosing the route to us became second priority to discovering the cache! Not to worry, after having a bite to eat the rest of the crew hunted around and eventually worked their way onto the next ridge then rock scrambled down the ridge line to a vertical rock face, at one stage seeking the help/advice of the teams that had gone the “long way†and were now approaching the GZ. Not sure what was on the other side of the rock face, we awaited the return of our guide who had by this time discovered the cache. First priority now achieved, p-ppras returned and guided the rest of us to the cache site.
Certainly not a cache for the faint hearted, not at least the way we tackled the approach, but for those comfortable with working on rock faces, a great trip.
TNLN .. SL .. TFTH HGCore.
PS: Mr P is available as a guide for future cachers!
After finding No. 4, pprass scouted the route north to see if there was a way to No. 3 and after travelling 250 metres found that it was easy with just another 230 metres to go!
So back to the group and with some discussion it was clear that some didn’t want to do it and decided to go all the way back to the Stapylton car park and approach No. 3 from the Hollow Mt. car park. The rest of us (Ian, Phetlern and pprass) pushed on and after just 30 minutes found ourselves 27 metres from GZ – but with a huge crevice between us and GZ! P-pprass went on to find a way through and left the rest of the group behind and after some climbing, managed to find the way through. However at GZ it was really tricky to locate the cache even with the help of the photos. At that time Acts2 turned up and a bit later on maccamob and with their assistance from a distance and with a lot of assistance by phone to muzza and Alansee the cache was finally found – took about 1 hour to find it and once again muggles had also found it. In the meantime Ian, Phetlern and C-pprass had worked their way to a sheer rock wall just a few metres from GZ and it was just an easy matter of going back to them and hauling them up and then down to where Acts 2 and maccamob were waiting. Explored the hollow mountain bit, but not well enough as apparently there was a way through the hole to get to GZ which was a lot easier than the approach that we took. This cache was a bit tricky to do from No. 4, but the views were spectacular and worth every step of the way – in fact I would do it again now knowing what to fully expect. Thanks to Ian, Peter, Helen and Cat for such wonderful support and thanks to HGCore for the adventure.
Ps – although the cache when approached in the correct way is not overly difficult, it can become very dangerous due to bad GPS lock and therefore having to search areas that you do not need to.
I enjoyed my visit to hollow mountain but thought this cache was placed in a location that puts others life's at risk when there were plenty of spots that it could have been placed in that still brought you to this great location with out the risk factor, I believe that to do this cache safely ropes and safety harness would be best used here. having said that I know it is up to the individual to decide. I think the terrain rating should be lifted to 5.
My thanks to HGCore for the cache, I enjoyed meeting you guys.

We're doing a 'Grampians Secrets' cache raid with pprass, maccamob, Acts2 pheltern & this cache was our third in the series. Pprass pheltern & Ian made our approach, over the top from 'the forgotton track'. A note to future seekers, this route is possible, but it's not for the feint hearted. Please make sure that you are VERY prepared as this route is not easy and involves good rock scrambling skills in many places.
We made good time via this route, but the last 80 metres or so took the longest time. In fact the other half of our group returned from the forgotton track, and climbed up from the Hollow Mountain picnic area to get to GZ before most of our party.
Took: Nothing
Left: Nothing
Thanks HGCore for the cache.
Ian and Penny
I decided that unless I went today, I wouldn't have the opportunity to get out there for a while, so I made a special trip up last night for a second attempt today. The weather forecast indicated possible morning showers, and I didn't like the thought of being out there on wet rocks. But I awoke to find blue skies.
Armed with the photo, I headed back to GZ, but this time I went high - too high, and again into some precarious and scary situations. It was only when I looked over the edge that I saw where I was supposed to be. Last time I came so close.
Once spotted, it was an easy retrieval with no scary situations involved. I will claim the FTF - muggle finders don't count do they? Well that wraps up the series - all 5 found. And what a great series it was. Thanks to HGCore for this and all the caches, plus the help required to go back and find this one.
I checked the clue, and tried to obey it, but I couldn't go far enough and part of it made no sense. I did my best, and worked my way along a ledge much further than needed, into situations where I was feeling uncomfortable. At the end, the GPS (with poor signals) was saying I'd gone 70 metres too far, but still no cache.
I looked in every crack and possible location, but I think I must have not quite been in the right spot. Oh well, it was a great walk and there were some fantastic views all around. I love these sorts of caches, even when I don't end up finding them. Thanks to HGCore for bringing me here.
I was going to continue to #4 but rain was imminent and I didn't fancy a walk on wet rocks, so it may have to wait until another day.

Visited the cache today and spent a whole hour trying to get accurate coordinates - not easy with cliffs everywhere. Hopefully these will be much better!
Congratulations to P. Smyth, who was the first to find, albeit accidentally.

Correcting coordinates. The GPS reception was really poor in this area and they seem to be way off. Our sincere apologies to wally3450 and Alansee and thanks for pointing out the problem.
The information provided indicated that it was rather closer and I spent some time trying to make sense of it all and checking lots of spots. And with the info being rather vague, there were LOTS of spots!
Unless the coordinates can be improved, and/or a more specific hint provided, this one is going to be very hard to find.
Pity, as there are lots of great spots for caches in these mountains and its great to see some more being put out.
