Wet again! Happens every winter. To be expected with that type of hide, I guess. Oh well! It's had a good life. Thanks to all those who have visited it. I hope the garden beds and surrounds proved to be of interest. Time to retire it!
Found with Conehead3 on a beautiful day with limited time but the place is very interesting. Took us about 15minutes to locate the cylinder cool fantastic hide/find, love it. Interestinly there is a decoye close to GZ which we left there and found the reel one with the radis limits of our GPS. The log has been wet and needs to be replaced, unfortunately I didn't have my kit with me. Tanks FTC.
A very interesting place, thank you for bringing us here. I would have never know about this place if it wasn't for this great cache. Found with Neavesie.

*Who could wish for a more enjoyable area to spend time, than in and around the Creswick Regional Park? A wonderful area for walking, riding, exploring and of course geocaching!*
We enjoyed a DNF free day, among fascinating fungi, carefully hidden and well maintained caches, such as this one, which earns a FP for ingenuity in design.
Thanks to bristlehound for placing this cache.

Find number 2 today for family Perpetuallylost as we take the new Pajero for a bush bash around the Creswick State Forest. Rugged terrain meant the geowife and daughter only walked halfway in while i went searching. Another clever hide here. Cache in good condition.

Suscoe ventured down this way today on a pleasant Monday's wander.
A quick find and sign.
Nice work here Bristlehound.
All quiet today aprt from some friendly birds calling.
Time for a cuppa when Suscoe got back to the car.
Interesting country out here with evidence of human work being done many years ago.

Great drive into the forest and a nice walk to the cache... Great cache

While the Scouts build huts on a break from the first leg of a three day hike, I check out the nearby caches. It's great to get a smilie on this one, and thanks for highlighting part of our local history Bristlehound.
TFTC. Out for the day with McStormy who has found this one previously and provided me with the Geotruck drive in (which was fun, be hard in the wet!), and the hot or cold tips as my GPS was a smidge off. Even found an old horse shoe! Fantastic location and very clever hide! Def a fav from me.
Out for a drive in the Creswick State Forest today with Kenare, Newts943,TBA83 and AJMandy. Found this one after enjoying a walk through all the old diggings. Thanks for bringing me here. Tftc
Ajmanda was onto this one once we hit the area. What a beautiful walking trail!! Tftc
Staying a few days in Ballarat on our tour of Australia using Geocaching as a guide. Isn't this game SO FABULOUS!
Very windy today so a slow start for us. We started the day solving more puzzles then after lunch we finally hit the track in the GeoCruiser. We decided to target as many off road caches before the rain coming later in the week.
Proved a good decision as some spots were still very muddy and slippery. We finished our day safe but with a DNF and then managed to 'almost' get stuck in a messy mud pit. Mr Felix didn't give up and managed to get us out after a few minutes of nail biting. (Must remember the old adage, never 4x4 on your own) [B)]
A great afternoon exploring Ballarat Forests.
Thanks bristlehound for feeding our GeoAddiction!

In Ballarat today with the intention of earning our D/T 5 souvenir in the afternoon despite the cold and rain. So we decided on collecting a few unfounded caches in the Creswick area in the geo4x4 to fill in the time. The Triton made easy work of the track and we found the cache without any problems in good condition.
Thanks bristlehound for the hide.
Thanks bristlehound for the hide.
Out grabbing a few caches around the area and we made a quick find with this one, thanks bristlehound for bringing us and showing us this part of the woods. TFTC
We are enjoying our tour of the Creswick goldfields by caching today. The Chinese certainly were an enterprising lot. Thanks for bringing us here and for the hide.
A bit of a walk in from road but a good hide and very secluded spot
It amazes me that all these historic gold mining spots are so beautiful yet if we did that sort of large scale mining today it would be called vandalism

New sealant. New log sheet. New pen (Please leave it there.) All set to go again. Thanks for the alert. Seems to have a habit of getting wet, this one. Please seal it all up firmly before replacing.

After a cancelled game of golf here in Creswick due to the thunderstorms, decided to make the most of the drive up here to get a few smilies, and to not totally waste the day.
This wasn't an easy walk over and down the banks, avoiding the mines along the way, especially with a crook back. But hey, that's what caching is about, making the most of wild day, and getting out there.
A great container and hide, but sadly I think the silicon has eroded away as the log was wet.
Adding to the faves though, love the cammo.
Thanks again Bristlehound

On the way to Creswick for a golf game, passed thru torrential rain up the highway and could hardly see in front of us. Not looking good for golf but thought I saw some blue sky in the distance. Nope as we got closer, the lightning was getting closer and closer. Arrived at the golf course only to find that golf was cancelled due to the stormy conditions. So what to do now, cache of course.
Took the long way into this one as we missed the track. Scaled a dam wall and forever on the lookout for the many mines in the area. Bogonghazy made a quick find of this one. Thanks for the cache bristlehound

After navigating our way the cache which took us some time, we went to the short stroll and the cache was soon in hand. A very clever hide.TFTC
Headed out this morning for a spot of adventuring with sulkybear and our geokids (ages 5 & 3). Decided to do a few in the Creswick bush just near our home with the 4 x 4 ute. Dogs also came along for the ride. Another great track to explore in the bush! We parked at the dam and walked in. Easily found. Log is damp so it needs to be dried but we had to leave. We headed back to the car and were lucky to see some lovely motorbike riders come past for which the kids were super excited! Thanks for making us explore some unknown tracks
Finally I have travelled here to search a couple of your caches. These names keep cropping up on my P.Queries. I think I took the long route by road before reaching the dirt tracks to get to the dam. Once there the short walk was negotiated with ease.
No orchids visible just yet. Did what I had to do and looked around before heading back to the car. Like Bok Choy but not today thank you. Three more caches to go now.

Caching this afternoon with Rehfisch Clan, Glanville Girls and Tomstache, we parked near the dam as per an earlier log and walked in. It was a lovely walk. Glanville Girls made the find with very accurate co-ords. A very well constructed camo bristlehound. A favourite from us, thanks for the hide.
Another after school caching run with the Rehfisch Clan, McLookers and Tomstache. The nearby dam was the only place that could accommodate parking for there cars. From there we walked in and made the find. Another great bristlehound camo. Thanks for the hide.
Caching this afternoon with McLookers, Glanville Girls and Tomstache. It was a mud track to walk in (geokids wanted to jump in puddles but not today as they were in school uniform), but co-ords were good. Glanville Girls had camo in hand in no time. TFTC Cheers
What an extremely clever and well thought out hide! I was just about to give up and head for the next cache on my list and I spotted it looking very well camouflaged. I really enjoyed the area, I never knew this was here. Found with the georugrat. TFTC!
Arrived a Creswick Regional Park campground and decided to pick up a couple of caches before settling in. Well I searched and searched and not only could I not find the cache but I did not find any Bok Choy either. Then along comes the geowife and says "what's this" and has the cache and "**" in her hand. Grumble, grumble. I blamed the gps for me not finding it, but the co-ords were good.
Thanks to bristlehound for this cache

A cunning hide. This old chinaman had the right idea he would have been fairly sure to get his gold Noticed a little pile of iron bits and pieces someone has found with a metal detector They didn't leave any gold in the pile though. TFTC Garnets
Quick find whilst doing some caches in the area in the company of The Garnets. Signed log, TFTC.
Une bonne ballade ce jour-ci dans le parc, cette cache est très bien travaillé !

#27 for that August challenge. Used to be able to drive to within 50m, that's now blocked off so the best spot to park in next to the dam and walk in. Log is just about stuffed, didn't have a spare, but did have a ziplock bag to protect it until the CO can get a chance to replace. Geomutts enjoyed the run on a sunny arvo!
Found today with geo dog and geo hubby whilst on a 2 day camping trip nice and close to home.
As I am still recovering from a foot injury, I only set my geo cache limit today of 4. Can't do many more these days.
This was somewhat tricky one, but none the less was found. I really like this one.
Log was a bit damp, but while looking around, we layed the log out in the sun to dry a bit and then was neatly placed back as found.
This is definately a favorite from me. A nice and unique cache. I might use that idea one day.
Thanks for the cache

Two attempts (no GPS), some dead reckoning, luck, persistence and team work (with Mykal-1) resulted in success A most enjoyable outing while camping with friends at Slatey Creek no.1 camping ground.
Very clever hide.
TNLN, log not completed, in our excitement we forgot a pen.
PS. Happy New Year!!!!

I only knew of the one veggie garden, so I kept thinking something was amiss - I partnered up with ledikin to take this one on - and besides swearing it had to be the place I knew, was forced to put my trust in the gps co-ordinates and then found this second garden!
I liked discovering the couple of old trinkets placed nearby - they really wet the appetite for the find.
I'm favouriting this one as it was clever hiding and also took me to another place I never knew existed - loved it!

This was one of many of the caches we have found on our journey north as we follow in the footsteps of our ancestors as they made their way from Geelong to Yackandanda.
We will be walking the goldfields tracks and trails on a journey from Geelong to Yackandanda that we estimate will take us 7 years to complete.
Our journey continues...

Found it on a 4WD tour of Crewick. The games continued here of 'find it but don't tell' and then watch the every last soul find it before we all signed. TFTC
So it was time to play games again with this one. You find it, but don't admit it, until there's just one poor bugger who hasn't found the blighter. Fun for those who find it, not so much if you're the last one!! Found this one quite early on - nice hide!!!
Found it today as part of the 4wding tour of Creswick Park with the Central Victorian Geocaching folks.
Nice hide type. We all stood back an watched everyone find it in turn.

After finding this creative little cache I tried to continue down the track in my little go-anywhere-4x4geomobile but found the track completely washed away and unpassable at the creek.
This cache formed one of the many caches I grabbed on my overnight trip to Ballarat with Camping in a swag at creswick and a 1 of 3 flash mobs attended in 24 hours.
I drove to within a short walk to GZ and soon started looking for the cache. I did not know this was a clever hide until I did not find it in the obvious spots. Then I stopped and check a few logs to realize it was a bit different. I looked up and spotted it right there. TFTC

All up and running again with a new container and log sheet. The hide is the same but is now a better fit.
Oh! And the road is now officially open again too. Only 2 years after the ford was washed out by the flood.
Cheers!!

Visited the cache today and it appears that Mother Nature had grown rather fond of it and made an attempt to hang onto it. Extrication proved a challenge but was eventually effected successfully without damaging the hide. A new and smaller container is called for and shall be installed in the same spot in a few days time.
We bent the connector trying to remove this, as it's jammed in very tight - too tight to remove
Thanks for the information. I'll get out there shortly and attempt to rectify the situation. If I remember rightly, this has happened once before due to the container being replaced in the wrong orientation. If placed correctly, it should go in and come out quite easily.
Found it, but the cache has been jammed in too hard to let us extract it. None of the nearby 'tools' were any use - suspect something considerably stronger will be required.
Pity, as it's a very good hide

One of 184 cache finds during our "Ballarat Smackdown" weekend of caching on the 23rd to 25th. There were 13 of us including Blacklegend and three of his kids, Trailrunning, Haveanez and their two boys, Dazrascal and myself amd my two boys Tyler and Cooper. We'd spent a few weeks planning the trip, with every Ballarat Puzzle solved in the area, cache lists and road and route maps all ready to go. We stayed in the Miners Retreat Motel for the two nights and the accomodation and facilities were great. Our goal was simple - find as many caches as possible in the time we were here !
We found a great variety of caches and hides during the three days, which also involved a bit of walking and some 4WD fun as well in the state forests north of Ballarat. The weather was quite cold of the Friday and Saturday morning but eventually cleared to nice sunny weather Saturday arvo and Sunday. We all had a great time, especially the kids who did really well to keep up with the pace we were moving.
Our third day of caching and it was another big day ahead of us before splitting up early in the afternoon. With some four wheel driving, some essential caches to collect and getting 'lost' in the bush and some tricky caches found, the day turned out to be quite an adventure. With cars loaded with the gear and kids, we checked out of the accommodation and hit the road.
Haveanez and Dazrascal had left for home so it was Trailrunning, Blacklegand and my group still caching away. We had a great time four wheel drving out here with many steep inclines and declines attempted along the way. The kids loved it, big and small. We drove to within 40m of GZ and made our way over and soon had the cache found and the log signed. A very nice hide.

One of 182 caches I personally found during our "Ballarat Smackdown" trip. The trip included teams Quasar3671, Trailrunning, Haveanez, Dazrascal and myself. Caches included around 30 mystery caches, a few earth caches, lots of trads and multis and both day and night caching. Some 4WD action was encountered as well, which was great. All puzzles within 60kms were solved.
I took three of my kids, Jasmine 7yo, James and Jemma 5yo twins, traveling from Tocumwal. The trip covered 3 days and two nights, staying in Ballarat. Quasar3671 took his two boys as did Haveanez. One of the best caching trips I have been on, and certainly lots and lots of finds, almost clearing out the main Ballarat area. Home base was the Miners Retreat motel, which was quite pleasant and quiet.
This was a find on our Sunday day run, which was only a half day run. 4 wheeled down to within about 50 meters of this one, then ran the rest of the way. Something a bit different here as well, which was great to see. TFTC.

We were up to cache 132 at the conclusion of the Saturday of the “Ballarat Cache Smackdown”. Having arrived here on Friday night we had gone hard all weekend. It didn’t stop last night with a few juices being drunk before going to bed. The after effects of this were that we are all a little slow in starting up today. Having packed the cars and checking out of our home base we started our Sunday run with a few caches we missed the night before (the kids really did need to go to bed). The highlight of my morning was straining my left calf muscle running up a 4WD track. That sort of slowed me down for the rest of the day. We had a few must do caches today before splitting up and heading home. This was one of them. Find #153. A great 4WD trail to this one and a 40 metre walk. Thanks.
Wound my way toward GZ following a variety of trails, after finding Rock Me. A few detours were required due to fallen trees. Eventually arrived and soon had the cache located and retrieved. Nice hide by the way. Log signed and the cache returned to it's location. Thanks Bristlehound for the cache.
Would have been good if I'd read the description before I went then I might have taken more interest in the surroundings. Interesting despite my slackness.
Thanks bristlehound
Thanks bristlehound
A wonderful location and a very clever hide. We would never have found it without the hint. Definitely won't get muggled. Thanks bristlehound.
See previous note (Log 15th Jan) It's happened again. I did a maintenance visit on this cache today after being alerted to a problem with it sticking. Problem fixed but please return it with the lid facing you. If it won't go easily, you're doing it the wrong way. A 10-15 minute walk from Standard Road will get you there if you are one of those naughty people who disregard closure sings. (Oh No!!!! I'm not advising you to do this!! Heaven forbid!!!) For those naughty and brazen enough to venture in, there is a lovely big display of Hyacinth Orchids beside the road on your right about half way to the dam.
Following recent inclement weather conditions, access to this cache is directly affected by road closures. Slatey Creek Road is closed so access from the north is compromised. As far as I know, it is still approachable from the south but, be careful and check the Parks Victoria Web Site for further road closures in the Creswick forest. I am not disabling the cache however, because it's still approachable on foot and, therefore still findable. Just requires a bit more effort, that's all.
